The collector's edition for Eastward came with a fun little cd soundtrack and there's like three bonus tracks included. These bonus tracks are absolutely no where online except in-game and in this collector's cd and like, for two of them its not a huge issue for me...
But like this one track is missing and its literally my favorite track in the whole fucking game.
It's just an alternate version of "Strange Quest" that plays during gameplay but it deviates from the main track in such a blissfully emotional way that it just makes me so goddamn happy I can't explain it. The fact it's not online and no one can look it up made me sad and now I have to fix that :'D For reference I'll put the main track below that's in the official digital release, cause it's still really fantastic y'all like this soundtrack is just full of fucking bangers mate aaaaaaaaaaaaa

I really need more people to talk about salvation ngl. My favorite song on the eastward soundtrack by far. Like, idk what it is about that song but man. It just gets me so EMOTIONAL every single time I listen to it. Whenever it comes on I just have to sit down for 4 and a half minutes and close my eyes and process how freaking beautiful that song is. Not only is it the song that plays at the most climatic and imo the most emotional part of the game, but also everything about that song in particular just REALLY gives off the vibes of eastwards last chapter so well cause it sounds eery and mysterious but also kind of magical and bittersweet?? SOMEHOW????? Joel corelitz I am in your walls.
Also. That final piano chord (?) at the very end of the song gives me chills every. single. time.

People I wanna know better tag meme
I was tagged by @uncontrol-freak. Thanks for the tag!! <3
Last song?
youtube
Been listening to this at least once a day lately bc I'm considering making a comic about it. Only song I've ever found that accurately represents how I feel about my body. Also just generally a beautiful masterpiece of progressive groove/death metal.
Favorite color?
Black. Though green is an extremely close second.
Currently watching?
fucking Ink Master lmao (guilty pleasure). Been on a 1-episode-a-day-over-dinner "marathon" of it with my partner for a while. Finished season 12 earlier this evening.
Last movie?
saw The Boy and the Heron in theaters like a month ago (I almost never watch movies). It was disappointing.
Sweet/Spicy/Savory?
Spicy. I put cholula on everything
Relationship status?
I'm engaged! Not planning a wedding anytime soon though lmao
Current obsessions?
Eastward! Started playing it about a week ago and I've fallen head over heels. It's so cute and fun! Plus the soundtrack is incredible. Also going through a major Victorian and Edwardian clothing obsession. Currently in patient wait for my historical emporium order (that store has me by the throat). Last current obsession is local theater. Going to see Sweeney Todd later this month at our favorite playhouse! They also did an amazing production of The Exorcist in December.
Last thing you googled?
citizen sleeper 2 release date (spoiler alert there still isn't one. hahahahaha someone help)
Selfie or another pic you took?
Tumblr media
my dramatic ass and my cat poo bear. throwback to warmer weather and leaves being on the trees :'(
I'm tagging @nsk96 and @toyfriskman but no pressure obvi

Are you looking to click with a new game and want something genuinely different?
I am always hunting for new titles to reinvigorate that click I feel with video games. Not all video games will click but when they do they can be something truly special. I wanted to go over some of my favorite games I’ve played in recent years that are available on current gen consoles. I’m not covering anyone upcoming, these are titles you can pick up today. Cheaply at that. Several of which are on sale on Steam right now as of writing this.
So. Enough chit chat. Lets’s start with an easy one:
Paradise Killer:
PC Switch PS4/PS5 Xbox
youtube
I just finished this one and am in the middle of writing my review on it. Painfully stylish with a killer vaporwave soundtrack this game oozes aesthetic. Kaizen Game Works understood the hauntology assignment and took it to the MAX. You are an investigator trying to solve an immortal god-like council’s murder in a dystopian society. You’ve returned to this gorgeous open world parasite paradise from your exile of 3 million days (about 8219 years)! If you’ve played Outer Wilds this is among that same vein. (And I will caution you, while not hard, the game relies on you wanting to just explore. It will provide hints but it won’t hold your hand.)
This is an Ace Attorney-esqe collectathon mixed with open world and exploration. There is no combat. Both the writing and the world are spectacular. Don’t deny yourself something this wonderful, because it is.
This has quickly risen among my gaming ranks as a favorite and it hits to being as close of a favorite as my number 2 suggestion…
Outer Wilds:
PC Switch PS4/PS5 Xbox
youtube
This is perhaps one of my favorite games of all time. I wanted to talk about this second because Outer Wilds has received more of the notoriety it deserves in recent times and I wanted PK to get the main spotlight. Don’t get it twisted though If it wasn’t for UpIsNotJump’s video (<— Spoilers) I would have never realized what I was missing. And I still think a lot of people don’t understand what they’re missing too. It is an absolute masterpiece. And seeing it getting released physically again is a god send. I want people to play this game. (And it’s DLC Echoes of The Eye)
No combat. You are a scientist exploring your local solar system in your spaceship in an open “universe” instead of an open world. The sun explodes every 22 minutes which sends your memories back in time. Again, I will caution you that the game relies on you wanting to explore. It will not direct you.
Eastward:
PC Switch Xbox
youtube
Too much exploring. Let’s reel it back with Eastward. A Zelda-like where you control an older man and a little girl with psychic powers in a post apocalyptic world. If you’re looking for those fun pixel games that pack that quirky feel this is it. A bit existential, a great sense of humor, and fantastic writing are all part of the Eastward package. (You startin’ to see a theme here? Ha ha)
All while boasting a seriously killer pixel soundtrack. The original Iron Carbine trailer for the Nintendo Direct had an immediate impact on me as a gamer. I knew this was a game I would fall in love with. Sometimes you just know when something is special. This game is beautifully pixelated and packed with lovingly crafted content. Puzzles are the right amount of challenging and there is so much fun side stuff to do. Including a Dragon Quest-esqe game inside the game! It also received DLC via Eastward Octopia! Which I also love.
Moon: A Remix RPG
PC Switch PS4/PS5
youtube
I do play games with combat. I swear. Several of these games just don’t have it! (Ha!) This will perhaps be the hardest game to sell to you on this list. I have a soft spot for quirky games like this, but know that this was a PS1 Japanese exclusive game in the 90s. And it sure acts like it. Slow to start, weak tutorial, and doesn’t provide a ton of direction. This game was ported into English for the first time in 2020 and I love it. It is a trial and error experience though.
This cult classic is one of the games that inspired Undertale and when you play it becomes wildly apparent. I dare say it reminds me more of Undertale than its other main inspiration Earthbound. You are a little boy that’s been fallen into his video game and you have to save the souls of monsters the hero has killed using love. (Sound familiar?)
Light hearted and weird this game also has a great sense of humor as it pokes at classic RPG tropes. And that slow intro comes into play providing a unique perspective as you journey through the game befriending people. It won’t be for everyone, I would research this one before sinking the… $18.99 on the purchase. But I think it is worth experiencing if you love Undertale.
I think I’ve yakked enough. If folks like the post I’ll follow up with a part two with a little more genre variety! I wanted to the first post to include my top favorites. So. I hope there’s something in there that invigorates you the way these games did for me.

hey mei, what are your top 10 favourite video games?
1. Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild - Loved everything about it!! The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is amazing, and the story is easy to understand without playing the other games. I have Tears of the Kingdom, but for some reason, I prefer BOTW much more. Also, the soundtrack is absolutely amazing beyond words!! The one that plays whenever a Ruin Guardian spots you sort of gave me PTSD. Whenever I hear it, I can't help but look towards the source of the sound, get up, and run for my life.
2. Ghost of Tsushima - Everything about this game is a 10/10, but I really liked the combat in particular! There are so many ways you can kill someone, from silently assassinating them to poisoning them to beheading them. Even after the main story, there are still so many side quests and content that are just as fun. Jin Sakai is also very cool and I love how he abandoned his honor as a samurai to protect the people.
3. Eastward - Definitely a must-play if you have a Nintendo Switch. The graphics are unique and colorful yet also somewhat mellow at times. The music is great. All of the characters are so fleshed out and lovable. Not to mention the amount of content in the game, where you have at least one other game inside of it. There's the Earthbound(?) (I forgot what it was called) game inside of the arcades which I still haven't been able to finish to this day, and the Octopia DLC (Really cheap by the way, it was 20$ last time I checked) which is basically a whole other farming game.
4. Honkai Impact 3rd - Of course, HI3 is one of my favorite games. The gacha is very generous compared to other games, the rewards are really good, and the rest speaks for itself. Just the story alone would be enough to make it into my top 10. Story aside, I really love the characters and their designs. Their designs reflect their personality perfectly and all of them are just so lovable. Watching Kiana grow up so mature within only 2 years gives me such an odd feeling. I'm so proud of her, but at the same time, where has the "cheerful idiot" Kiana gone? It feels like only yesterday I was playing through the story and she refused to eat the meal Durandal gave her because there was no one to remove the bones of the fish like Mei usually did.
5. Stardew Valley - Call me basic, but I really fell in love with everything about this game. The music in particular makes me feel so oddly nostalgic. I also have a lot of good memories associated with it. It's one of those games that I play on and off but always end up enjoying no matter what, especially with the use of modding.
6. Dead Cells - Loved it! The combat is so fluid, the monsters are all so unique, the animations are so smooth for a pixel art game, and everything about the gameplay is so enjoyable. I'm a sucker for these types of games, honestly. I sadly haven't had the time to play it for a while now, though...
7. Subnautica - I'm not sure if this counts because even though I have a copy of the game, I've made almost zero progress on it. This is mostly only on my list because I'm a really big fan of sea exploration stuff. I was also particularly obsessed with the idea of making the Cyclops fully self sufficient.
8. Minecraft - I had such a big Minecraft phase back then. I would wear merch to school and sing those parodies thinking I was so cool. No wonder I didn't have any friends during that period of my life. Still, I actually wasn't able to buy the game until like... 2018. I think this would be higher on the list if I had people to play it with and if I could recover my account for it.
9. Animal Crossing : New Horizons - I was obsessed with it during the pandemic, but nowadays I play it on and off. As much as I like the older games, being able to freely place furniture outside is life changing. It's also way easier to change outfits because you can actually see what you're wearing. Not to mention, the graphics are way cuter.
10. Osu! - I got into it because a guy I liked did and ended up becoming better than him. I mostly.played standard, but mania was also fun from time to time. I was ranked at around 4 digits before I had to stop because people were complaining that my keyboard was being way too loud. I just didn't have the money to get a new one at the time, so I ended up deleting the game. Really fun, though! There's a mode for everyone.

If you’re among those who have only just begun paying attention to US foreign policy and western media bias in light of Israel’s destruction of Gaza and Biden’s act of war against Yemen, it’s important to understand that none of the depravity you’re seeing is new. The lies. The insane double standards. The murderousness. The western political/media class always does this.
Every war the US involves itself in is always facilitated by lies promulgated in one voice by the official government in Washington and by the “independent” “free” press (actually propaganda services) of the western world. They deceived the world about Ukraine. They deceived the world about Yemen. They deceived the world about Syria, Libya and Iraq. There are always, always lies, obfuscations and manipulations involved in marketing a new war to the public, or in hiding its involvement in foreign wars from public attention.
All of this manipulation and deceit is necessary to hide the fact that the US-centralized empire is the most tyrannical power structure on this planet. And make no mistake, it is an empire. Washington serves as the hub of an undeclared empire comprised of alliances, partnerships, assets, public deals and secret agreements which knit a large number of nations together into what functions as a single power structure with regard to international affairs.
Most of the beneficiaries of this power structure reside in the west, or global north, while the most exploited and abused victims of this power structure tend to reside in the east, or global south. There are all sorts of rules and regulations and narratives and justifications for why this all happens the way it happens, but if you mentally “mute” the soundtrack on the verbal overlay and just look at what’s actually happening, what you will see is the lion’s share of the world’s wealth and resources moving northward and westward from populations of a darker average skin tone toward populations of a paler average skin tone. Wherever that movement is hindered, diverted, threatened or inconvenienced, you will see western war machinery moving southward and eastward to get it back on the desired track.
Most major international conflicts can be understood as either direct or indirect efforts by the US empire to shore up planetary domination, which are often met with resistance by populations who wish to retain their sovereignty. Much of this conflict happens in the middle east because that’s where the world gets a lot of its oil from, with US-aligned nations like Israel and Saudi Arabia frequently serving as the frontline for hostilities with non-US-aligned nations like Iran and Syria as well as non-US-aligned forces like Hezbollah, Ansarallah and Hamas.
This struggle for US planetary hegemony is disguised by the western political/media class as something other than what it is, because you can’t allow the public in a democratic nation to understand clearly that their government is on the side of evil. They’ll frame it as a US-led international coalition to liberate a nation from a tyrannical dictator. As a humanitarian intervention to protect human rights. As support for Israel’s right to defend itself. As protection of freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. But what’s actually happening is the world’s most powerful and murderous power structure killing human beings in western Asia in order to secure control over a crucial resource.
You see this all over the world against nations which refuse to allow themselves to be absorbed into the US-centralized power structure like North Korea, Venezuela and Cuba, with China being by far the strongest of these and Russia a distant second. And you will notice that you have heard every nation I just mentioned cast in a very negative light by the western press over the years. This is not a coincidence.
You don’t need to believe anything I’m saying on faith. If you just keep in mind what I said and start watching the patterns for yourself while seeking out the truth day by day, you will see it for yourself. You will see the same patterns emerging over and over again, year after year. Over and over again you will see the US and the states that are aligned with it acting with extreme aggression toward non-US-aligned powers in ways that benefit the US-centralized power structure, and you will see the western press deceiving the world about what’s happening. The next Official Bad Guy you see dominating western press coverage on international affairs will be a non-US-aligned power, and if you apply diligent research and critical thinking you will find that they are not presenting an accurate picture of what’s happening.
Just keep learning and studying the patterns with open curiosity and self-honesty, and the picture will inevitably become clear to you. And then you will clearly see who’s really driving the bulk of the violence and disorder in our world.

Favorite Final Fantasy Music (FFXI - Seekers of Adoulin)
Here it is... the final expansion! Not the end of the story mind you, there's still a little left; but this is the last big new zone/features addition and stuff. It's odd, something about it feels very different from the rest of the game, especially in soundtrack. It's still FFXI, but I feel like the classic XI sound is changed in a way. I blame the electric guitar. I think I attribute that to the gap of time between this and the last expansion. The story itself takes place in a completely different continent, like ToAH, but this one involves a sort of conflict between nature and civilization, where the city of Adoulin is colonizing the land. Throw in a little political drama where the people are like "colonization yeahhhhh" and "colonization noooo" and the princess is all like "guys please" and seven REAL BIG MONSTERS and it's a good time.
Also, just like the last expansion: the soundtrack's weird. It's split up into two. Why would they do that? Makes my specific job harder for no reason. List time!
5. Breaking Ground I think this song is a good example of how the soundtrack feels different. One: electric guitar. Two: slap bass. XI doesn't have guitars! But it does! And it feels different and cool. Although the piano still ties it back, reminding you what game you're ultimately playing. Very upbeat, very odd compared to the rest of the game, but still ultimately a very cool song and great for little outdoor missions.
4. The Pioneers Funny little pirate song :) This is the music that plays in the western part of the main city, and the part you're most likely gonna be in. I think it's a fun song, and very strange as well, like why is this bouncy little jig playing in my growing metropolis? I was caught off guard by it, but in a good way. I love the little ocarina playing and the main melody.
3. Monstrosity This song feels like if you took XI, but threw some XIII into it. Again, it's the guitars, it doesn't feel right, but also I'm not complaining about it? The synth that pops in is really reminiscent of Eastward Bound from Aht Urhgan which I love, and then eventually the song blows into this whole fuckin anime feeling magical girl fight which is absolutely outstanding. This is the perfect song to run around as a Mandragora to (I love Mandragoras).
2. Steel Sings, Blades Dance This is the main battle theme of this expansion. The strange part is: it's the only one. Well, I guess not only battle theme, but like, there's no second theme if you're in a party unlike the rest of the game. Just adds to the soundtrack's strangeness. I love the buildup to this song, giving a lot of the power to the horns and xylophone (with some awesome tambourine) unlike the usual snare powerhouse (which is still there and still killing it as it does). This is absolutely an Adoulin song that sounds more like classic XI, and it makes me happy.
1. Keepers of the Wild This is almost like, the main boss theme of the expansion. This plays when you're fighting the Naakuals, aka the REAL BIG MONSTERS I was talking about earlier. I love the opening to this song, giving you a really menacing violin, but with that grand horn and trumpet signifying how much of a natural menace this creature you're facing off against is. A lot of the classic FFXI instruments are used in this song, but in a way that feels a lot more modern than the rest of the game, befitting the rest of Adoulin's soundtrack. I love the little hopeful part with the bells right before the song loops.
