6 November 2002 EN  Hi everyone, welcome to my 14 day journey up and down Germany, and for the first time, into Denmark and Sweden.  After visiting Denmark and Sweden, I take a night train to Switzerland, then a train to Nuremberg and fly home through Washington Dulles.  Hope you will join along and enjoy the train rides!

Nachdem ich Dänemark und Schweden besucht habe, nehme ich einen Nachtzug in die Schweiz, dann einen Zug nach Nürnberg und fliege über Washington Dulles nach Hause. Ich hoffe, Ihr macht mit und genießt die Zugfahrten!

I wanted to tell you about my 20th anniversary of first visiting Denmark and Sweden.  Originally in July 1997 I wanted to visit Denmark, while visiting Hamburg, but the logistics were a bit too dodgy.  So I decided not to visit it for some time.  Then I had the opportunity to visit in November 2002.  So I planned two nights in Copenhagen and a day journey to Malmö in neighboring Sweden.  Then I went south to Switzerland and came back to Germany through Stuttgart and Nuremberg.  I also visited Frankfurt am Main and Munich.  The journey was from 7th to 19th November 2002.

In 2002, the official "fall back" day for California time to go from -7 to -8 GMT was the last Sunday in October, namely 27th October 2002.  The new "fall back" day would not take effect until 2007.  No time change, other than -8 GMT to +1 GMT was involved in 2002 during the journey.

In September 2002 while visiting the Eastridge Mall in San Jose, I was going home, but at the intersection of Quimby and Tully Roads, almost half a mile east from US-101, I stopped at a red turn signal but was rear-ended by a Dodge Durango which was heavier.  The Durango did not suffer much damage, but my car at the time sustained almost enough damage to be considered totalled.  The car was still driveable but the trunk lid was badly damaged that it could no longer be opened, and the left tail light and indicator lost its yellow and red lenses.  We exchanged driver information, but for a month, it was quite a pain in the $%#.  I had to deal with my insurance company and the other person's insurance company.  I did not have to pay for anything except the gasoline for the rental car, while my car was in the repair shop for all of October.  My rental car was a 2002 Ford Escort sedan with automatic transmission and a 2.0 liter gas engine, supposedly sourced from Mazda.  At least the car radio worked properly, mine broke in November 2001 when the battery died and I had to replace it and could not get the antitheft code to work correctly.  That is a story for another time.  When I received my car back in early November 2002, it smelled very strongly of paint.  Well, at least I could, from 7th to 19th, let it sit in my apartment's car port while I was away, maybe the paint smell would not be as strong.

On 6th November 2002, my mother offered to take me to the SFO airport.  She drove me from my apartment in Foster City to our home in Los Altos.  I had my bags packed around 5 PM.  My father was on a business trip, so we had to "root hog or die" for supper.  We went to the Loco Taco in Foster City, off Hillsdale and Shell Blvd.  I ordered a chicken burrito, it was very good.  It had guacamole, jack cheese - not cheddar, some rice, some beans and vegetables.  Yum!  My mother had something similar.  The place where Loco Taco was, has since been replaced by the Parkside Tower.  Honestly, I do not know anymore when it was replaced as I have not been back to that part of California since 2011.

When I was at my parents' home, my mother had rented "Pauline & Paulette".  Somehow she thought, that the fact that it originated in Belgium, she thought it was in French.  But I recognized that it was actually in Flemish, pretty much akin to Dutch, but with a few German-language elements.  Years later, I bought the DVD in Belgium, which had both Dutch and French subtitles.  

And one major change in our human-domestic animal relationship, in particular, with Eric, our outdoors cat since June 1989, she was getting old and was becoming less able to fight off other neighborhood stray cats.  She was allowed inside the house and given a corner to sit on.  Sometimes she would sit on the dining room table chairs.  She was also happy in the attic, where she could find mice.  I heard her crawling in the attic and heard her meow.  Until she died, she was an indoor cat.  

I had to wake up very early the next morning.  So I had to go to bed after watching Pauline & Paulette.

Cafe Giya- Binangonan, Rizal

Meron bagong kainan sa Eastridge.

Ito ang Cafe Giya. Malapit lang sa guard house (Col.Guido) ng Eastridge.

Sa October 1, 2022 pa daw talaga ang opening nila pero ngayon, may dry-run sila kaya nasubukan na namin.

Papasok pa lang, magagandahan ka na sa itsura ng kanilang store. Nung pumunta kami, may mga customer na din sila na tamang chill na dun.

Kung magandang view ang hanap mo, meron din dito. Ibang angle ng Metro Manila.

Sa ngayon, cash lang daw meron sila as payment method pero pumayag naman din sila na Gcash muna dahil wala talaga kaming cash na dala.

Ginamit na lang ng cashier yung Gcash niya para makapag-bayad kami.

Ang inorder namin ay 2 drinks (Cucumber Lemon) at isang Potato Chips.Hindi namin natanong kung magkano per item pero ang total bill namin ay P500.

Na-enjoy naman namin yung pag-tambay namin dahil konti pa lang tao. Naka-pwesto agad kami sa magandang pwesto:)

Yung Potato Chips, hindi lang plain, may flavor. parang barbecue ng chippy yung flavor at good for 2 naman yung serving. For drinks, masarap naman dahil naubos namin:)

Sa ngayon, hanggang 9pm lang daw sila. Pero sa October 1, 2022. Grand Opening nila. Pagkakatanda ko, 10AM-10PM sila.

Meron din kasi silang offer na All Day Breakfast, Burger, Pizza, Pasta, Coffe atbp.

Hindi pa talaga siya tapos, dahil may ginagawa pang gusali doon. Hindi ko lang alam kung Cafe Giya pa rin ba yun o iba na.

For improvement lang din para sa kanila sana magakaroon ng Designated Smoking Area (hindi lahat ng tao gusto ang amoy ng sigarilyo)

Sa staff namin nila, okay naman pakikitungo, wag lang nila kalimutan mag bigay ng tissue. hehe.

Saka dahil bago pa, medyo malamok pa yung lugar kaya mas maganda mag-pants kayo. Kami kasi, naka-shorts lang dahil biglaan lang talaga yung pagpunta namin, nadaanan, nakitang bago kaya sinubukan agad :)

Katabi lang siya ng Perlie's Restaurant na ang sabi ng staff, iisa lang daw may-ari nun. Kaya kung sino man may-ari nun. Hello Ninong/Ninang?

East Bay Tambayan - Eastridge Rizal

May bagong kainan sa Eastridge, Angono/ Binangonan, Rizal. (Sabi ng iba, Angono, sabi naman ng iba, Binangonan)

Ito ang East Bay Tambayan. Malapit ito sa Thunderbird Resort.

pagpasok, pipili na kayo ng mauupuan nyo bago umorder. Meron isang maganda part dito na maganda mapwestuhan mas lalo kapag palubog na ang araw.

Kapag gabi naman, wala na masyadong makita sa view dahil sobrang dilim talaga.

Meron din silang spot for picture taking. Hugis Puso na Upuan.

Sa pagkain naman, marami din kayo pagpipilian sa Main Dish, Grilled, Pulutan, Pica-pic, Dessert, Drinks, Milktea at Fruit Tea. Kaya pwedeng dito na kayo maghapunan bago mag-inuman.

Ang inorder pala namin ay Buttered Shrimp, Twisted Fries at Kiwi Fruit Tea.

Pero yung naibigay sa amin ay iba yata. Hindi Buttered Shrimp. Medyo late na namin na-realize na hindi buttered shrimp yung naibigay sa amin dahil sobrang gutom na talaga kami.

Shrimp pa rin naman pero ibang luto. Shrimp Guisado with Green Chili yung naibigay sa amin o marahil ganun talaga yung style ng Buttered Shrimp nila..hahaha.Kaso wala talagang butter eh.

Oh well, nabusog naman kami.

Sa Twisted Fries naman, masarap naman kahit walang ketchup or kahit anong sawsawan.

Meron din pala Live Band dito na okay lang naman. Nasa edad na kasi ako na hindi ko na trip ang Live Band. 7PM-10PM yata yung live band dito. (not sure) Kaya kung ayaw nyo sa live band, punta na lang kayo ng mas maaga.

For improvement lang siguro para sa kainan na ito.

- Maglagay sila ng designated na smoking area. Hindi lahat ng tao gusto amoy ng yosi.

- Maglagay ng pamatay lamok. medyo malamok din kasi. Kaya I suggest, magpantalon kayo.

- More training sa mga staff especially sa pagiging attentive.

Babalik ba ako dito? Oo naman, kasama ang tropa. Mas gusto ko uminom dito kaysa sa iba dahil maliit lang seating capacity nila kaya mas konti ang tao. hehe.
