I just want to buy my dad a decent house. Get him out of public housing. That's easy. In no time at all.

something i’ve noticed from my experience in an american film school is that international students from china are REALLY good. i work along side them of course but also when i was reviewing shorts for a film festival, most of the ones that where from Chinese film makers were very well done. even if they were bad, it was never because they were low-quality, it would usually just be something like a weak story or poor acting & would be strong besides that
i’ve noticed that the dialogue always seems to have a certain poetry to it and uses lots of metaphors and stories and it’s just so pretty (it could also just be the way it translates to english subtitles, im not sure) and the cinematography and lighting has a look that is very specific to chinese cinema (or at least east-asian, i’ll have to look at more films from the surrounding countries before i’m sure). it’s always very cool, monochromatic, and peaceful. it reminds me of early mornings before the sun is up but it’s still light.
i just love it so much and i really hope there’s a rise in popularity for Chinese and east asian cinema in American because it really deserves it
