i feel like ever after high fans don't take a point of view from apple all that often. and we need to more

because imagine you grow up your whole life having everything laid out for you. you know how your story is going to end. you know that in the end you get your happy ending. then you come to school and the person who's supposed to set you on your destiny doesn't want to. she just says "no". and you don't understand. because if she doesn't follow her destiny she's goes poof. and your density is connected to her's. so you're going poof too. you are going to disappear and it's going to set a chain reaction that will make everyone else disappear.

of course that's fucking terrifying. is apple still kinda a dick to raven? absolutely. but it's coming from a place of genuine fear. even after the storybook is gone and she's not gone poof she's still terrified. that fear doesn't just go away. she still hopes her destiny will come around despite the book being gone. and still believes that raven is the only way she'll ever get that

don't get me started on apple's mom. like apple probably expects to become the next queen. so when the evil queen gives her that deal, not only will she get her destiny back but her mother won't be disappointed in her.

there's also the well vision scene where she sees all of her friends in danger. and we know it's fake so it seems stupid. but imagine you talk to a magic well and it confirms all the things you fear to be true. don't say you wouldn't be terrified and wouldn't do anything to stop that from happening. because I know you would.

Ever After High Switched Destiny AU

Okay so I’ve been reading the books and watching the series (haven’t completely finished them yet so bare with me) and I have a theory/AU.

So we know you can’t choose your destiny, that’s the whole thing right? But we see Poppy and Holly O’Hair (the twins) and they thought Holly was the eldest so she was suppose to be the next Rapunzel (and she liked that) and Poppy just wanted to find her own legacy. However, as it turns out, Poppy is the eldest but neither of them wants to switch their positions so they keep it a secret and we are made to assume the Book of Legends will give Holly the Rapunzel destiny anyways.

Also even though people can take a good guess which Charming will be the next prince to each story (e.g Daring supposedly being Apple’s prince), it’s not certain (e.g. we’re all pretty sure Darling is Apple’s ‘prince’ and Daring is the prince/beast from Beauty and the Beast which is fitting for their personalities).

If the Rapunzel sisters can “switch fates” but the Charming siblings supposedly can’t, it must mean that it’s chosen by personality/whoever fits best.

Not to mention the Red Riding Hood/Bad Wolf sisters.

All this is to say that my theory is that not everyone’s destinies will be what people expect, it’s more who’s more suited for the role.

I know there’s already a theory that Apple and Raven were switched at birth but my AU is that their respective parents are in fact their parents BUT their destinies are switched!

So Apple White is the next Evil Queen and Raven Queen is the next Snow White. (Although I also really love the Darling Charming and Apple White duo for their destinies).

This fits with their respective personalities I think - Apple always wanting to force things to go her way even releasing the Evil Queen to get what she wants, and Raven who just wants peace and choice.

LGBTQA+ Character 1: Apple White

Apple White is a lesbian character from the series Ever After High. She was sort of in a relationship with a man (Daring Charmming), but it was because that’s who she thought she was supposed to be with. Not who she wanted to be with. In the Dragon Games season, she is poisoned; cursed to be forever asleep until true loves kiss can save her. All of the characters thought that Daring was her true love, but it ended up being his sister, Darling Charming. The series framed the kiss like it was only CPR, but it was in fact true loves kiss. One, the spell would only specifically break with the kiss, not CPR. Two, light flashed when Darling kissed Apple, to show that it truly was magic. And three, this was actually confirmed to be gay. Shadi Petosky (a writer for EAH) confirmed that it was true love’s kiss. She also liked a tweet saying to like it if Apple is a lesbian. That means that Apple and Darling are meant to be together. Though admittedly the show didn’t do anything with this. This happened back in 2016. While things certainly are not great for the LGBTQA+ community, representation has gotten a tad better these last few years. It’s quite unfortunate that their romantic relationship was unable to be explored. I would have really liked to see them grow into a beautiful couple.

I think my favorite part about rewatching Ever After High as an adult is now that I've had more life experience, I've found that I've gained some new perspective on the Rebel vs Royal conflict.

Because while I'll always identify with the Rebels, and also recognize that many Royals are extremely elitist and to some extent, self entitled, I'm beginning to sympathize and understand their perspective a little more now.

For example, Apple White is the paragon of the perfect princess. She's smart, beautiful, and mostly a rule follower. But, I realize that there's probably a lot of pressure to maintain this image, and a lot of hard work that must be done for the glamour and shiny "happily ever after".

Although it can be argued that Apple has the easiest destiny out of all of them, I think I understand why she's so adamant about following destinies, especially if you consider that in the books, she had a traumatizing near-death experience of almost drowning in the well. Her story was her safety net because life is so uncertain. At any moment, she could fall into a well again and die, but if Apple followed her story, at least she is certain of her future. Ever since she was born, society told her that she'll be secure, safe, and live happily for the rest of her life if she just signs the Storybook and play out her story.

Raven choosing to rebel against her destiny really frightened Apple, because now, her future is uncertain. She has no idea how the rest of her life will play out now that Raven chose not to sign, and that's really valid.

However, if it wasn't for Raven, then so many other people would have been stuck with a fate they've been unfairly dealt with. Now that Raven proved they can choose their own destiny, it opened up the chance for people to carve their own path and rewrite their story in a way that fits them best.

It was such an interesting dilemma because both sides are valid in their own ways. It's really such a shame the show ended so abruptly and was never continued because a lot of these ideas had so much potential. The concepts of Royals vs Rebels were already great in the show and books, but imagine how truly great it would've been if the writers were allowed to continue the story and expand more into the conflict- like really digging deep into how more characters felt about following tradition vs rewriting their stories and carving their own path for themselves.

Apple White really loves you. Because out of everyone at she has ever known, even including Briar, you are the only one she can truly be her own authentic self with.

Apple has always struggled with the high standards set by not only society but also her own mother. Everywhere she goes all eyes are on her, after all who wouldn’t want to know what the next Snow White was up to.

Apple used to always think things as little as her needing to wear her own glasses makes something wrong with her.

But not with you.

When Apple is with it is as if you are the only ones left in the world. She feels at ease, when Apple is with you she knows that in her eyes that you could never see a single thing to worry about.

In your eyes Apple was perfection, and you would never change a single thing about her. One of the main ways you show her your love is by kissing, Apple loves when you kiss her, and she loves to kiss you.

You kiss her gently and softly, while wrapping your arms around the future queens waist. She is always ready to recuperate with just as much while her hands ever so lightly find home on your face, her thumbs stroking your cheeks.

Apple likes to spend time with you. She enjoys the days when it is just you in her in the dorm room, Raven presumably out with one of her friends. Quiet times like these are usually spent studying.

Where you would giggle at Apple’s pouty face when you would sneakily remove her cherry-red frames from her face and run around with them, “I need those!” she would exclaim, attempting to pull them back from your grasp.

But, of course when the two of you aren’t studying the time is spent laying down on Apple’s bed in your pajamas while you engage in deep conversations about your futures.

“Apple?” You mumble softly, eyes still trained on the ceiling, “Yes?” She replies, though she turns her head in order to get a good look of your face. “Can we get married someday?”

Shifting your body you now look at your lover whose face has turned the lightest of pinks. She grabs your hand, raising to her lips where your ring finger resides, and places a small peck there.

“Nothing would make me happier.”
