tagged by @skyeventide & @lulukeskywalker in two variations of the little ask meme so i'm putting them together! thank you both!! 8]
favorite color: indigo! but there's no shade of purple or almost-purple that doesn't land for me.
currently reading: (fanfic:) up next on my fic to-read list is @quixoticanarchy & @bloodwingblackbird's TRSB work, The knife that shapes the knife (accompanying craftwork on view here). a collab from immensely imaginative creatives (and both formidable writers in fact)! my favorite kinds of fic in this fandom are those that unflinchingly embrace and grapple with the canon through worldbuilding & characterization -- the sort where you're left inspired by canon's possibility, and convinced. does that make sense! i find asterisq's writing has that kind of finesse for me, so i'm excited to read!
(not fanfic:) still floundering in the bog of PhD-sanctioned material, but I've also begun Mahir Güven's Older Brother/Grand frère thanks to esteemed and excellent taste haver @thefashbasher. It's riveting; the narrative voices are so raw, urgent, and alive. You just want each chapter turned into a monologue and performed onstage.
last song: Wagner's Tristan und Isolde Act 1 Prelude, stuck in my head after i looked out the window and saw Venus burning in the night sky (Lars von Trier Melancholia viewers, you hear me)
last series: i'm finishing the annual X-Files rewatch but otherwise i'm no consummate tv watcher! On my 'tv to watch eventually' list, IWTV retains pride of place.
sweet, savory, or spicy? Sweet, for ever.
currently working on: for now, poetry is commanding my very limited creative writing time -- and quite unexpectedly i've also just begun dabbling in podfic?! i'm working to establish by the next week or so if this term will grant me more time for undertakings like fanfic or if my little sandcastle is about to crumble!!
no-pressure tagging @dulaman-na-farraige , @batshape , @aipilosse , @rosedaughter , @thefashbasher , @tobermoriansass , @nyenyerle , @findekano -- i could go on because i'm nosy but suffice to say: anyone who so feels compelled: consider yourself tagged!

@dulaman-na-farraige Shockingly I haven't read the manga (though I plan on it!) so I looked up the forest folk and I definitely see the resemblance! Her design (save for her sleeves) are her naked. She's sort of inspired by ancient humans with fur/medieval wild man art!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aurgelmirians (what Wolfspore is/The people in my comic) are very good at living in really weird dangerous environments! She's lived in her forest for most of her life alone, so she's jsut adapted well. If you tried to shake her, she'd jsut have a BUNCH of spores fly of like this gif ...

favorite song: ok gonna put a couple of them here
favorite quote: there are a lot of bits and pieces from isadora duncan's autobiography that i could mention, but to be brief i'm gonna pick just one that really stuck with me:
"this was the first faint note of the prelude of the tragedy which presently was to end all hopes of any natural, joyous life for me— for ever after. i believe that although one may seem to go on living, there are some sorrows that kill. one's body may drag along its weary way on earth, but one's spirit is crushed— for ever crushed. i have heard people speak of the ennobling influence of sorrow. i can only say that those last few days of my life, before the blow fell, were actually the last days of my spiritual life. ever since then i have had only one desire— to fly— to fly— to fly from the horror of it, and my life has been but a series of weird flights from it all; and all life has been to me but as a phantom ship upon a phantom ocean."

@wvsteria asked: ♫ + 100 fleur delacour & roxanne weasley
100. Dulaman - Celtic Women
Tumblr media
"Dúlamán na farraige, be'fhearr a bhí in Éirinn" Fleur sang one of her favorite songs she had learned while here. It was so nice and soothing. Learning the Gaelic. It was a fun folk song to sing while she designed her clothes. Completely unaware that Roxanne had walked in.

Can I just comment on this Movie and Song real quick?  Thanks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfLcUtWJbn4
This song, the name being “Amhran Aisling” (Which means “Aisling’s song”) is an Irish (Irish Gaelic?) song from the movie Secret of Kells.
First off, I’d like to comment on how amazing this person who translated the song is.  They have translated multiple other songs, like Dulaman (Seaweed, an Irish folk song,) and Amhran na farraige, (A Song of the Sea.) Please check them out, it would really be wonderful if you helped them out.
The movie is outright majestic, a must-watch for the whole family.  It’s art style is beautiful, and it’s overall aesthetic is mellow and mysterious, making the audience caught up in the sheer beauty of the film, completely zoning out everything around them to watch every little leaf flutter, and every small detail glimmer as the characters dance across the screen.
The main theme of the movie seems to be about how short human lives are, and how stories and knowledge is limited to those who learn it, and pass it on.  However, to avoid this loss of knowledge and stories, they write it down in books, which keeps a small part of their soul, per say, alive in the pages.
The main character, Brendan, is tasked to writing the Book of Kells, since the last person working on it is too old to write and draw in it anymore.  Brendan ends up slowly creating the book for almost his entire lifespan, perfecting it page after page.
The book of Kells, the book which the movie has Brendan creating, is a real book that was written, theorized to have been created in 800 A.D, and is widely known to be Ireland’s finest national treasure.
But with that out of the way, time to talk a bit about the song.
The lyrics, (in particular;)
Is ní bheimid beo, (And we will only be alive) Ach seal beag gearr. (But for a little short while)
Really emphasizes on how small we are, and how short our lives are compared to the universe, and the lyrics
“Níl sa saol seo ach ceo” (There is nothing in this life but mist)
says that we know so little about this world, and what we know is so small compared to all the knowledge in the world that it barley clears the “fog” of mystery in our world.
“Pangur Ban, Pangur ban” (Fair Pangur, Fair Pangur.)
This is literally the name of the cat.  But it’s a cute name.
I personally don’t know if i’m making sense right now, but really I just needed to talk about this song and i’ve got that off my chest now.  I don't care if i sound stupid or something but I really love this movie, and the book of Kells, and this song, and Irish history, AND ALL THAT STUFF-- *ahem* sorry I got passionate there...
Thank you for reading.  I’ll see you all later.
~Sans ( of @two-angsty-fells )
( Please tell me if there is anything that doesn't make sense or if there are typos. I wrote this at 3:08 AM and I’m bound to sound like nonsense in the morning.  and sorry if i offended someone accidentally.  I'm shit at not sounding offensive sometimes.)
