He finds the creature in a glorified morgue; as dead inside as it is sterile. The lab is already burning and the tiny thing bares yellowed teeth when he reaches for it—a fighter, and he can see why—the room is filled with corpses, mangled rodents left in pieces. Whatever tests were done here left the rat scarred and hairless, bones sticking out in broken shapes. A lone survivor. He picks it from its cage, ignoring that snapping jaw. There's more strength in the bite than he expects and he's impressed with it's audacity. "My, ain't you ferocious?" He squints down at the creature, cradling it in the palm of a bloody hand. The rat studies him with endless black eyes, as if it knows—knows that this man has killed its captors. Knows that these hands have killed many more. And still, it settles. Those eyes see further than most and in them a kinship that's reflected in icy blue. "Last one standing," he muses. And it would be easy to snap its neck and leave it with the rest, but the impulse never comes. Only a smile. "Quite the little cockroach..." He leaves with the rat on his shoulder, the flames engulfing its would-be grave, and neither one of them glances back.

Are you named after anyone?: Yep! My first name came from Olivia de Havilland, an actress my mom liked and my middle name (Jessie Rose) is both of my grandmas.

When was the last time you cried?: The other day, my partner showed me a cute cat video and I don't have any excuses for myself 😂😂 I don't have baby fever at all, but I sure as hell have kitten fever

Do you have kids?: Nope, unless you count furbabies

Do you use sarcasm a lot?: With friends yes, I've pulled back a little though. I definitely am less sarcastic with people at work, and very much so with my parents (they're used to it)

What sports do you play/have you played?: I currently ski, and do dance. I love hiking/walking, and used to do swimming, and boxing

What's the first thing you notice about other people?: Usually whether they seem friendly or not/seem to want to talk, and then their face/what they're wearing

Eye color?: Hazel

Scary movies or happy endings?: Horror with a happy (or at least hopeful, ending). If I could only pick one though I'd say happy endings.

Any special talents?: I'm decent at writing/VP, and very detail oriented (which is helpful in my work). I admittedly am a very good baker after having done it for five years as a side job

Where were you born? US--Minnesota--right in the middle of the country, and surrounded by lakes

What are your hobbies?: Lots of em--I love gaming, and taking photos (both irl and virtual photography, writing, hiking, and drawing. Also exploring all the cool restaurants, and cafés in town

Do you have any pets? Yes, Ollie the wonder-mutt (he's chihuahua, min pin, and australian shepherd, and 100% brat)

How tall are you?: 5'5 or 165cm

Fave subject in school? I've always loved my art classes, and its still a huge passion of mine. Writing and history were always favorites too, or biology. I HATED math, and was never much good at it, and am very thankful that most of the math I use is more applicable to my job and not algebra

Dream job?: Honestly the one I'm at now if it was more hours/paid better 😅 (currently a project assistant at an archive.) I'd love to be working in an archive or museum and doing conservation work/processing materials. The donor side/politics have never interested me much, but I love being able to engage in a hands-on way with objects and being a little nosy with them.

Time: 3:00pm

Dream trip: I'd love to make it back to Europe--especially Ireland, or GB--pretty nature and interesting history. Spain and Germany are also on my list. (Portugal is too--know a couple people vacationing there at the moment and it looks gorgeous ❤️)

Last book you read: If we're not counting blueprints/architect correspondence, Quiet, by Susan Cain. I've been on a nonfiction binge lately, and I felt like I learned a lot without being bored by it

Last book you enjoyed reading: The one above, I also have one about the history of restaurants I've been meaning to read so might take that on vacation with me.

Last book you hated reading: Haven't read any books I've despised lately, but a couple of very dense articles for one of my art history classes definitely count, or having to read Fouccault again for a history course. I hated it the first time, and the second and third did not improve my opinion.

Bonus! favourite to cook/bake: I love to make a good chocolate chip cookie. But foccacia bread or whole grain cinnamon bread are some of my other favorites. Also did a blueberry rhubarb crisp recently that was quite nice.

Favourite craft to do in your free time: Writing, traditional drawing when I hit a little pocket of motivation, virtual (and IRL) photography.

Opinion on the circus: Not the sorts with animals. I like seeing acrobats though and would love to see Cirque du Soleil again. I saw Ovo by them a number of years ago and it was fabulous, and I'd happily go back, if I had the chance.

Do you have a sense of direction: Haha no. Only with places I've been to very often, or for a significant period of time. I'm hopeless with a map, and hope any companions are at least slightly better navigators

POSSESSION

They say demons come only if they are invoked. It never ceases to amaze me how little time it takes them to transform into a puppet of my own play, falling for this illusion of control. Lips closed tightly are parted now, and the breath comes slowly while I'm moving through every bit of them, tracing their life in each vein, crawling through them like a spider. It felt so hollowed out inside, but not anymore, right, dear? That sort of fun can become deadly in a heartbeat, but who cares?
