International Dance Day was yesterday, but I guess everyday is good to post a dance clip. This one is from Suspiria. If you know me, you also know that generally I’m not dancing without holding onto something. The idea of using your body as an apparatus terrifies me and fascinates me at the same time. And honestly I’ve never danced solo on stage before... And then @santa_sangre challenged me to connect with Mother Markos through just dance. I had a stage fright, which doesn’t happen often at this point, but IT FELT GOOD to just move your body and let it lead you without holding onto anything. Photoshoot for the play I'm going to be in called "Caeneus and Poseidon" by Bridgette Portman playing from March 9th-April 2nd at Dragon Theatre In Redwood City, California. The play is about a trans demigod based on the Grecian myth of Caeneus. Caeneus begins his life as Caenis, assigned female at birth. After the sea-god Poseidon grants his wish for a new body, Caenis - now Caeneus - feels compelled to hide his former identity from all but his closest friend, Hippodamia, as he seeks the acceptance of his kinsmen and community. But as he and Hippodamia begin a relationship that challenges their society’s strict social order, and as a vengeful Poseidon works behind the scenes to bring about Caeneus’ downfall, the young man must find the strength to openly embrace his identity and his past.
