The last thing this patient (who is known for eating his collection of bugs, and feeding said bugs to spiders, and in turn feeding them to his bird) needs is a larger animal; especially one capable of eating his sparrow. A sparrow, I'm assuming he still has alive, and is currently keeping as his "pet."

He seems to be acting out some twisted version of the food-chain. And what do you think will happen when he gets a cat? Well you obviously have an idea of the situation. Otherwise, why else would you tempt him instead of flat out refusal?

Seward, I swear, if you give Renfield a cat you will have a maniac after you— me.

    Are you sure you're a professional psychiatrist? "Undeveloped homicidal maniac" sounds like a pretty phony diagnosis if you ask me. Aren't we all just murderers without the murder? 'ers' if you will. While I do agree that it's likely that Renfield would feed his sparrows to the kitten should you give one to him, you must never forget that he is still a living thinking person and to consider him a murderer in the making is gross malpractice. Please double-check your credentials and ensure that Renfield feels safe and willing to speak to a therapist.
