One of my all time favorite movie characters is Dr. Sam Loomis from the Halloween franchise.
He was the only person that truly understood what Michael Myers was from the get go. Dr. Loomis met Mikey at 6 yrs old, after a few failed attempts, he concluded that lil bastard is different, he is pure evil and should buried underneath the nuthouse. He tried warning everybody but no one took him seriously and look what happened..he got out and started hack & slashing folks.
It was on sight whenever Dr. Loomis encountered Myers. He kept that thang on him at times and didn't hesitate to use it.
One time, he almost smoked a dude that had on a similar mask but he got hit by a cop car and burnt up.
Dr. Loomis was a savage too. He defied orders from the governor and forced a marshal at gunpoint to drive him back into town to look for Mikey.
The situation had gotten to the point that after shooting him like 25 times, Dr. Loomis decided to blow himself up just to stop Michael Myers. Now, that is dedication to the goal. He didn't give a fuck about his own self preservation. He wanted Michael stopped and he didn't care if he had to go down with him.
So, I usually don’t bring out my dark comedy material on the main, but something’s just occurring to me regarding the Halloween uni/multi-verse.
I can’t help but wonder what Haddonfield’s reaction to “Smooth Criminal” was upon release.
Like I know the song itself has nothing to do with Michael Myers or anything, but just thinking about how the lyrics and chorus continuously use “Annie Are You Okay ? With Annie Brackett, the Sheriff’s daughter, arguably being the most infamous victim of Michael’s ‘78 rampage.
Also “Smooth Criminal” was released in November of ‘88. Taking the 4-6 movies into account, it was released not a month after Michael Myers awoke from his coma and went on another killing spree.
On top of that, the singer being named “Michael”, and opens with this unsettling deep breathing. I’m just saying, some Haddonfield parent in the late 80′s would suddenly drop their glasses when it started playing on their radios one morning.
"What about the jack-o-lantern?" "After the movie." "What about my comics?" "After the jack-o-lantern." "What about the boogeyman?" "There's no such thing." "Richie said he was coming after me tonight." "Do you believe everything Richie tells you?" "No." *chuckles* " Tommy, Halloween night it's when people play tricks on each other. It's all make-believe. I think Richie was just trying to scare you." "I saw the boogeyman. I saw him outside." "There was nobody outside." "There was." "What did he look like? "The boogeyman!" *Sighs* "We're not getting anywhere. All right. The boogeyman can only come out on Halloween night, right?" "Right." "Well, I'm here tonight. I'm not about to let anything happen to you." "Promise?" "Promise."
*Later after Laurie has encountered The Shape*
"It was the Boogeyman." "As a matter of fact it was."
