you know doctor/turlough is a really weird ship - i mean, turlough isn’t really the sort of person you’d expect the doctor to invite along, much less be romantically interested in - but i think that’s a pretty significant part of why i like it? it’s so unlikely but there’s something really nice about the thought of the doctor looking at this weaselly, self-serving little shit listen i love turlough but and seeing all the fear and desperation driving him and wanting to give him an environment where he can let go of that - and turlough meanwhile starting to feel like he belongs somewhere for the first time since he was exiled, and letting go of some of his shame and really making an effort to be better (i love!! the scene in frontios with the coins)

and honestly having watched most of turlough’s serials now i don’t really think either of them ever acknowledged their feelings, and said feelings were probably still at a fairly early stage by the time they said goodbye, but that doesn’t detract from it being a meaningful relationship for the both of them (and one that could have undergone some really emotional development if turlough had stuck around longer)

Bro Turlough has so much trauma, we don’t even know what happened at home or how he was treated on Trion. But thinking about it, he saw his mother get killed, he was publicly humiliated by being exiled, he was separated from his family, sent to Earth where he struggled to breathe and comprehend everything. He feared Earth because he knew what weapons humans had and he was scared about humans attacking themselves. But before he was exiled he was obviously forced to take part In war, he was an older brother to Malkon and was necessarily a icon. But during war he obviously saw some disgusting things like dead bodies and felt so much pain. I have this sort of obvious head canon, that he was bullied in school…obviously cause his hair colour and he was probably smarter than all the other boys. He was literally willing to kill somebody he didn’t know to get away. But when he knew Deela on Trion, he felt free and he actually loved her but seeing her on the floor bleeding out and struggling to breathe gave him a realisation that nobody can know about this, at all.
