It truly is god awful to have a new friend message you and ask how much you charge to shoot an event, like a baby shower, and then have to gently tell her you're not that kind of photographer.

An Average Day in the Existence of a Content Creator
The normal Day in the Life of any Content Creator
Tumblr media
Mixer Live Streamer My spouse and i was merely thinking this there are probably thousands of videos on YouTube which provide people with guidelines to running content development companies online but right after viewing a number associated with them, I was left using a disjointed picture regarding what exactly I should always be expected to do upon any given day -- because the choices seemed countless. Called put it directly into some form of communautaire perspective, I've written this information to try to provide the confused viewer the better picture of what a day in the lifetime of an content creator may actually resemble. Mixer Live Streamer Starting with the obvious of receiving way up, making coffee along with trying to clear the imagination for work, how I generally start my moment is definitely by looking at a few The rss feeds (while drinking stated coffee of course) and also perusing several articles in addition to photos with categories My spouse and i am interested in expecting to to learning more regarding my very own chosen new profession and as well selecting good ones for you to "curate" and cross on some other potentially interested people upon several sociable media platforms. I discuss the good ones We find with people in Tweets, Pinterest, Facebook as well as Google+ primarily at often the moment by the way -- there are additional good platforms compared to these kind of - but these are definitely the ones I started together with and they still obtain most of my focus. We "+1" and "Like" excellent written content I find along the way and remark on the work regarding other folks where I feel the urge while following all, others are getting in hard work as well and their contributions really should be getting recognition from me just as I wish to be having reputation for my efforts. I've truly usually by this moment set aside in my thoughts a project that I sense that working on which day - and this is a pretty substance factor. I may have got planned a single day before for you to work on anything nowadays but if I locate my juices flowing in another direction after starting the afternoon, then that is typically everywhere I go. The item is easier to create precisely what you are feeling love for at the moment rather than driving your self to create something you're not feeling alive about but had planned to job on. And you also usually change out a better solution this way as nicely. This is the majority of my day, that connected with wanting to create something worthy of being published. Whenever I've accomplished a fresh content item such as a Youtube . com video, I upload it to YouTube, annotate the item and share it all over my connected social mass media systems to those who also I hope would be interested in viewing it. My partner and i try to promote this to generate desire without being pushy about it which usually I've learned certainly eliminates you out there. Respect householder's right to help choose for themselves and you may fare much better. We then generally take time frame out near the finish of the day to help check to see just how things are going (Google Statistics, viewing statistics, e-mails, as well as comments received, and so on. ) and I communicate back to all those just where I can who possess said at all about my creations or any type of involving my activities throughout interpersonal media that day. Only still have some vitality but still feel like functioning, I'll limit off the day considering ways for you to improve my seen social presence. This could necessarily mean working on improving a Profile, working on and changing my web page, reproofing and cleaning up a write-up, as well as researching other places online that could be valuable to participate in or maybe link to. Then Now i'm performed. I can limit, lengthen or maybe completely ignore any of the tasks mentioned above (except the coffee) with any given day relying on my very own energy quantities. And that is precisely what I such as the most about this lifestyle. We no longer have to work if I are not within the mood to help as well as I can really do the job hard on other days when I find out the commute within me. For me personally, that lifestyle sure surpasses a great 8 AM to five PM plus working in an office existence!

10 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO PREVENT DOX
We’re all worried about being doxed, especially in the current political climate. Something stupid you’ve said or done in the past could be dug up, shown to the world and used against you to ostracize you socially and ruin your livelihood. Don’t fret, doing these 10 simple things can help reduce your chances of being doxed, and even put you further ahead of the game when things start going south. 1)    Be Vague Social media has primed us to be overly indulgent when we discuss the simplest of things, which causes us to become unaware when we share just too much information about lives. Even the general information we give away can be used to build up a dossier and dox us, which is why being vague is one of the easiest ways to prevent being doxed. Avoid using your real name online and never give anyone an inkling of where you live. Keep things simple, you don’t live in Texas but just the US. Avoid even giving away the direct time, as even your time can be seen as a unique marker that can act like a finger print and lessen the area of search. So, remember, be vague! 2)    Change Your Settings How many of us sign up for an account and don’t even give a cursory glance at the settings? Look over your accounts and what settings they offer. Isolating your account from the public’s view and placing on “Friends Only” or just private, you’ll lessen the amount of your exposure and how much search engines can snag and broadcast to anyone searching. 3)    Opt Out of People Search Engines and Databases All it takes is a single username or name and a few pieces of general information to isolate someone on a number of people search websites. This can lead to your phone number, address and even your e-mail address being discovered. To avoid this, you can opt-out of the select sites below to jumpstart you on your privacy adventure. https://www.Spokeo.com https://www.spokeo.com/optout • Go to Spokeo. • Search your First, middle and last name. • Find your profile/listing by go to the bottom of the page and select ‘open advance filter’. • Fill out your information. • Find your profile/listing, copy the link (note: Right click + copy link to have a ‘Clean link’ copied). • Go to the Opt out link. • Follow instructions to opt-out. • Repeat for each individual in house. • Hint: You’ll need a different e-mail address after so many removals. • Hint: You may have multiple profiles/links due to previous addresses. • Hint: Make sure HTTPs is not at the start of the link, if it is just remove the ’S’. https://secure.whitepages.com https://secure.whitepages.com/suppression_requests • Find your information VIA search • click view free details • Copy the profile link to the second link • Click/select opt-out and remove me • Select your reason • Enter your phone number to confirm https://www.truepeoplesearch.com https://www.truepeoplesearch.com/removal • Go to the second link and follow directions Remove your property’s street view on Bing Maps: 1. Go to: https://www.bing.com/maps/ 2. Type home address. 3. Get to street view. 4. Center squarely on house. 5. Look for (?) question mark near bottom right. Be careful as it can be hidden sometimes. 6. Click it. 7. Select ’Report an image concern’ 8. You’ll get a pop-up or new tab with a panoramic image. 9. Select your house, a little red square will appear then. 10. Voice your privacy concern, stating vandalism and potential break-ins by criminal elements who use online maps to scout\case potential targets. 11. Fill out the rest of the form + Capatcha, wait. 12. Save ticket (#) Number. Remove your property’s street view on Google Maps: 1. Go to Google Maps and type in your address. 2. Bring up the street view of your property. 3. Look to the bottom right hand corner of the screen you should see an Icon Labeled ‘report a problem.’ 4. Click on ‘report a problem.’ 5. You will get a page labeled “report inappropriate street view.” 6. Look for the words “Privacy Concerns” and click on them. 7. If you want your house blurred, click on ‘my house.’ Then choose the option ‘I have a picture of my house and would like it blurred.’ 8. Adjust the image and show Google which part of the photo needs blurred. 9. Type the verification code at the bottom of the page into the box provided and click submit. 10. Check back in a few days to see if the image has been blurred. https://www.Yahoo.com/maps 1. Visit https://www.Yahoo.com/maps 2. Drag the gray icon that resembles a person (top-right) to your street (If it won’t drag, then your street has not been photographed for Yahoo.). 3. Click on ‘report image’ at the bottom-left of the screen, it will take you to a different website. 4. Click on ‘request blurring,’ and follow the directions. 4)    Vanity Search, Hard One of the simplest things for you to do is to do a vanity search on yourself. A simple search of your full name (First + last) plus your city and/or state will show what websites have you on a database or what reality sites have your current address and images of it. Most of these websites should offer an opt-out of their services, however if you need to find a site to opt-out of quickly, try our Master Opt Out List! 5)    Remove Your Old Accounts In our early years on the internet, a lot of us were unaware of basic INFOSEC. This did lead to a lot of us using the same username and password on a lot of websites, forums and miscellaneous communities which mean a lot of us are susceptible to being doxed due to the simple fact that a lot of us gave away too much information. You can prevent a lot of this by trying to remember what accounts you had made and don’t use. Once you start removing these old, dead accounts, you’ll feel a lot better and less anxiety. We do recommend, however, that you also delete any old content and posts you made on those accounts. Take the time, too, to check your old e-mail addresses and usernames against the Have I Been PWNED database. You can also opt-out of their database once you’ve ensured you aren’t on any lists. https://haveibeenpwned.com/ https://haveibeenpwned.com/OptOut 1. Check your e-mail and/or username accounts against HIBP 2. Opt-out once you copy the information to a .txt 6)    Change Your Password All it takes is one website to get its database dumped for you to start seeing your information online. You can prevent this by changing your password once or more a month. Ensuring it’s at least 8 characters long and contains upper (ABC) and lower (abc) case letters besides numbers (123), punctuations (!?) and miscellaneous characters (#$%). 7)    Never Use the Same Password or Username Twice One mistake a lot of us make is simply leaving a trail by using the same username and password across the internet. Ensure that whenever you make an account the username and password haven’t been used by you, at least, anywhere else. 8)    Don’t Make Your E-mail Public Making your e-mail address public can cause cross contamination, which means all it takes it a quick search on that address or a database dump for someone to gain access to all your accounts and information. So, don’t make your e-mail address public and try to use a unique e-mail address for each account you make. 9)    Try to Limit Yourself to 10 Accounts Only The more accounts we make, the harder it is to keep our information straight and to remember what accounts we own. This means you can become unaware of what you said or did on an account besides forgetting what accounts you own. This is a potential treasure-trove of information for anyone looking to dox you. Try to limit yourself to 10 accounts, sans accounts like banking, taxes, work or school. 10)    Avoid Random Adds We’re becoming an extremely connected and social society, which means we tend to share our miscellaneous accounts, chat services and phone numbers. Keep things to yourself and only add people you know you can trust. This prevents any hiccups or exploits on any services you use and prevents your information from being snagged. This will also prevent cross contamination of your accounts, thus lessening your overall digital footprint. While the above will help reduce a large number of dox attempts, we do urge people to take a look at our namesake guide, The Paranoid’s Bible. We’ve written this guide with the goal of being the best anti-dox guide out there to help as many people as possible to prevent being doxed.

YES, anon, I like this. But I’m going to start from a little different place. Let’s say it’s Stiles’s freshman year and coming up on Derek’s third consecutive year of pining for -- and refusing to tell Stiles that he’s -- his mate.
Derek has been working on putting his life back together so he has something to offer him first. He’s renting a real apartment now (and it turns out that when you live somewhere where you actually pay for utilities, they tend to stay on a lot more reliably). He’s spending more time with the pack. And he even recently accepted a job offer from the Sheriff. He just has to tie up a few things with his almost-finished degree in New York -- which he can luckily do without having to travel there -- and then he’ll be Beacon Hills’s newest deputy.
It's the fall of Stiles's freshman year and Derek thinks he’s finally ready. Not to tell Stiles he’s his mate. But Derek hopes he’s not imagining the way Stiles has been looking at him the past couple years. The way Stiles has been there more than anyone else. The way they text almost every day.
Derek is thinking that he’ll text Stiles, ask him to meet up with him for dinner somewhere nearby campus. It’s only 45 minutes away. Derek doesn’t make the drive often, but he doesn’t think it will seem strange.
And after dinner, Derek will -- well, that’s the sticking point. Maybe he’ll be able to catch Stiles in one of his rare moments of stillness and just kiss him. Maybe Derek will turn into someone who actually knows how to communicate these things and will tell Stiles how he feels. Maybe Stiles will pick up that something is different about that night and ask him if it’s a date. And then Derek will say something suave, like, “It is if you want it to be.”
That’s suave, right?
Derek is mentally composing the text to Stiles asking him to dinner when Erica squeals and shoves her phone in Derek’s face.
Derek sighs and is about to snap at her but then he sees--it's a photo of Stiles. And a guy. Stiles and a guy together.
"Look. Aren't they cute?" Erica asks, flipping through the photos on Stiles's facebook profile and showing Derek another one.
"They're... together?" Derek asks. He knows Stiles is single. Or was, at least. Knows he's dating, putting himself out there, living the college experience.
Just because Stiles is his mate, doesn’t mean Derek has had any claim on him. So he’s okay with this. He is.
"For a few weeks, I think," Erica says, flipping the screen to another photo.
Stiles and the guy are standing front of a movie theatre. Stiles looks like himself. Tall, broad-shouldered. He's wearing a shirt and jeans that show off the perfect lines of his lean body. Stiles isn't looking at the camera. He has an arm wrapped around the other guy's broad waist and he's looking at him with a fond grin that makes Derek’s chest tighten.
"His name's Noah," Erica supplies.
Derek knows Stiles isn't inexperienced romantically or sexually. He stopped complaining about being a virgin somewhere around the beginning of his senior year and Derek's overheard references to a couple casual hookups since then. But this is the first time he's actually had to see photographic evidence of the fact that Stiles is with someone else.
Derek glares at the photo on Erica’s phone. Noah is an inch or two shorter than Stiles. He has a pretty face, round cheeks, and he's soft all over. Soft slope of shoulders, chubby arms, thighs that rub together, and a round, wide belly stretching out his sweater.
Erica flips the picture forward, oblivious to Derek’s turmoil. In the next picture, Stiles is laughing, head thrown back, with his hand resting on the top of the guy's sweater-clad belly.
Stiles doesn't seem to have a problem with the fact that his boyfriend has never seen the inside of a gym. But Derek thinks meanly that while this guy was sitting around growing gut big enough for Stiles to rest his hand on it, Derek was off saving Stiles from rogue werewolves and fairies and mermaids.
(Which he knows is not fair. And not even entirely true, since it was Stiles who did most of the saving during the mermaid fiasco. But that's not the point.)
When Erica finally leaves, taking her phone and the damn photos with her, Derek pulls out his own phone and sighs.
Somehow, despite the fact that he and Stiles have been texting at least a few times a day since he went off to college, Stiles has completely failed to mention that he has a boyfriend. Derek wonders if he should text Stiles. That's what a friend would do, right? Tell him congratulations or something.
Instead, Derek tosses the phone away and goes for a long run.
At the pack get-together later that fall, Derek hears himself blurting out, "So how are things with Noah?"
Stiles gives him a puzzled look. "What? Noah?"
"Your--" Derek stops himself from saying boyfriend.
Scott is looking at him in confusion, too. But Kira jumps in, "Yeah, how is Noah? Have you seen him lately?"
"Uh, no," Stiles says. He runs his hand through his hair, still looking at Derek strangely. "We, uh, broke up, I guess. It wasn't anything serious. How did you even know about him?"
"Just something Erica said," Derek says, looking away.
The next day, Derek logs onto the facebook account that he hasn't ever actually used. Stiles had made a profile for him over a year ago. He'd even attached a photo where Derek's frowning in his aviator sunglasses.
Stiles had friended himself, and everyone in the pack, on Derek’s behalf. So when Derek logs in, the page is filled with updates and photos and complaints about studying and Erica and Boyd's relationship status changing from together to broken up to 'it's complicated'.
Stiles updates once every few days or so. And usually with just a complaint about studying or rave about a new superhero movie or a 'happy birthday, man' on someone else's wall. And, on a semi-regular basis, photos appear that he’s tagged in.
Derek becomes an embarrassingly avid follower of said updates and photos.
So Derek doesn't miss it when, later that winter, he sees the first photos of Stiles and what might be his next boyfriend.
He's taller than Stiles and has broad, strong shoulders, muscled neck. He’s obviously athletic. And maybe Derek doesn't want to see Stiles with anyone else but him, but at least this guy resembles Derek a little more than this last boyfriend. That should be reassuring, right?
But then Derek flips through the photos. The first one had just been a head shot of the two of the them, but the next ones are full body shots. And the guy doesn’t actually look nearly as similar to Derek as he had thought. The guy (’Brandon’) looks less like an athlete than a ex-athlete who's still eating like one. He's got a sizeable gut stretching out his shirt and hanging over the waist of his jeans.
Derek wonders about the two guys he's seen Stiles with both being big. Is it possible that's Stiles's type? But though Lydia, who Stiles pursued for years, has some curves, they’re nothing like all the extra weight Stiles’s two boyfriends have carried.
So probably it's just coincidence, though. Maybe Stiles is attracted to them for entirely un-shallow reasons. Maybe he's never thought about the fact that either of the guys he's been going out with could stand to lose more than a few pounds.
Derek's stared at the photo for so long now that he accidentally clicks 'like'. And then debates about whether he should un-'like' it. But would it show up on Stiles's timeline that Derek had liked and then un-liked the photo?
So he leaves it.
Over spring break, Lydia organizes a night out clubbing. Stiles texts Derek a few times to make sure he's coming.
It's not Derek's thing anymore. He got clubbing and one night hookups out of his system years ago in New York. But if Stiles wants him there, he'll be there.
He even allows himself to be cautiously optimistic when Stiles shows up alone.
At least, until Derek goes to order drinks and overhears Scott saying, "Look at that guy, he looks like your type."
Derek whips his head around. Scott, Lydia and Stiles are standing at the other side of the bar looking out on the dance floor.
"Dude, just because he's a little chubby doesn't mean he's automatically my type," Stiles says.
Derek can feel his jaw hanging open as he stares at Stiles's back. A little chubby? *Automatically* his type?
"Maybe he's just not fat enough," Lydia says, and Derek can hear the smirk on her face. "He's probably only got, what? Twenty, thirty pounds on you?"
Derek followed their gazes to a guy dancing on the floor. He can't make out much of his appearance between the flashes of strobe lights, but he's young-looking, probably around Stiles's age. And his too-small t-shirt does nothing to hide the little round belly that jiggles as he dances.
"Shut up," Stiles is saying. "And I'm not even here to get laid."
"You just broke up with your boyfriend--"
"He wasn't my--"
"Of course you're here to get laid," Lydia finishes. She wraps an arm around his shoulders and points. "Now, what about that one?"

Pixsy Gets A Major Update
I have been using Pixsy to protect my photos for more than 2 years now. I've written about the service before and have successfully closed infringement cases with Pixsy. I truly appreciate the service that Pixsy provides. No... Pixsy does not pay me to sing their praises (read my product review disclaimer). In fact, I pay them to help find people using my work without permission, and to handle all the legal matters to reach a settlement.
Two weeks ago, the Pixsy site got a major update. Dare I say... an overhaul. The new design and interface is clean and slick, easy to work with, and well organized. I thought I'd give a brief tour of how I use Pixsy to find infringements against my work. Before I do... why don't you try Pixsy. They offer a free plan. If you are sharing your work online (who isn't these days), let Pixsy scan the web for you, find matches, and help you be justly and fairly paid for your work.
Got your Pixsy account set up? Good! Here's the basic Pixsy workflow that I use.
1. Tell Pixsy about your work
Pixsy has a variety of ways to get your photos registered with the service. Click Images on the left side and use then Import in the upper right. You can tell Pixsy to monitor your social media accounts, or directly upload images into Pixsy. Personally, I directly upload my photos. That fits best with my workflow. It also avoids situations when I delete a social media post, or otherwise rearrange my social feeds. Having the photos within the Pixsy ecosystem provides me with the cleanest experience.
2. Monitor Matches
Once you have told Pixsy about your images, it scours the web searching for matches. Using the Settings under your Profile in the lower left corner, you can configure Pixsy to email you a match report daily, weekly, or monthly. I prefer a weekly report, and generally pop into Pixsy once a week to review new matches.
The landing page has a bunch of tiles. Clicking on a tile filters your matches according to the tile. You can sift the matches in all sorts of ways. I'll admit it's interesting to peruse the by-country matches to see what images of mine are more "popular" in various parts of the world. You will be surprised at the number of matches. Image aggregation sites will appear often. You will probably also find your own website. Pixsy has additional smarts to approve or ignore segments of the web to limit the noise. I'll talk more about those a little later in this article.
When it comes to looking for serious infringements, I focus on commercial matches. Pixsy helps greatly with the classification.  For this post, I'll drill down into the New Since... tile.
In a filtered view, a grid of thumbnails is shown. Each thumbnail represents a photo Pixsy has found on the web that resembles one of your photos. You'll see from this example when you take a photo of an iconic location, such as Zabriskie Point in Death Valley, you can expect a larger number of matches will be found. However, we are not done filtering yet. Notice the Commercial tile across the top of the photo grid. Pixsy has the smarts to distinguish between image use by a business or corporation vs. non-commercial use on blogs or image aggregators. The filtering is never perfect because the internet is always changing. However, it's a great starting point.
3. Focus On Commercial Matches
Drilling down into the Commercial view, a couple of things happen here. First, the match set to review is palatable. This review began with 1975 matches and I'm quickly down to 27 that need my eyes on them. Second, across the top of the interface is the filter bar. It reads New and Commercial. You can further filter by typing the name of your photo or a country to continue reducing the search parameters.
There may still be some false positives (those iconic locations again). Again, the thumbnail presented is the photo Pixsy found out on the web that is similar to photos you imported. Knowing your work is important. I see two images on this screen that look suspiciously like photos I know are mine. The second photo of the Trevi Fountain is very similar to one of my images, although I'm not 100% sure it is my photo. The photo of the Coronado Bridge at the lower right is definitely my photo. It's time for a deeper review.
4. Review And Take Action
There are several options you have with a potential match. Before you take action, you need a closer look.  Clicking on a match lets you see your photo and the potential match side by side. Your photo is on the left and the potential match is on the right. The slider beneath the thumbnails lets you zoom in on the left or right hand side image for a closer comparison. You can also click on the page URL to see the website and page where Pixsy found the potential match.
The buttons across the top of the page let you open cases, issue takedown requests, or ignore entire domains from future match reports. The buttons in the main body of the match page apply to the currently displayed image.
Some care needs to be taken when reviewing matches. If the photo is not yours, or the website is an image aggregator, simply click Not My Image or Ignore, respectively. If the image is a match, you're not quite ready to file a case. If you license your work or use stock agencies to license your work, it is possible the business or corporation using your photo is doing so legally. There is no single click to determine this. You the photographer need to do the legwork and check if the image in question has been licensed or not. If legally licensed, choose Approved Use. When you do find a commercial infringement on your work, use the Submit Case button. Case submission is easy. If you have a copyright registration, include that information in your case. Pixsy has tools to monitor all your cases, and see the details of each case.
I was not 100% sure the photo of the Trevi Fountain Pixsy found is my photo. In this case, the images are similar but not the same. Selecting Not My Photo makes the most sense. As it turned out, the Coronado Bridge photo mapped back to an image aggregation site, and I used the Ignore button for the image.
I hope this introduction into Pixsy and how I use it help you get started protecting your work. There are a few other screens I'd like to show you.
ignore or approve domains
Over time, you may find particular websites surfacing again and again in your matches. You can ignore or approve a portion of a domain or an entire domain from the match review screen. I post a lot of videos on YouTube featuring my photography. Often, the auto-generated thumbnails YouTube creates trigger matches in Pixsy. Clicking the Ignore button at the top of the match screen lets you approve or ignore a segment of the web. In this example, I can approve or ignore any future matches found on the 'watch' page of YouTube.
At some inevitable point, Pixsy will find your website and report matches against it. This is a perfect time to use this tool and mark your website as Approved Usage across the board. There is no point in reviewing matches from your blog or portfolio.
 Reviewing Cases & Getting Paid
Once you file a case, you can monitor case status. Honestly, I rarely visit these screens. The Pixsy team is excellent at communicating status through email. Nevertheless, you can see all of your cases, filter on their status, and drill down into the details. Payments are electronic and as with every step of the process, notifications of payment schedules are top notch.
Notice on the detail screen shown here, the case resolution took more than 1 year to complete. Legal processes can be slow. However, getting rightfully paid for your work is worth it. Pixsy is doing the bulk of the heavy lifting for you... and get more time behind the camera making your next set of great photographs.
And There's More Coming!
I had a great chat with Hannah and Kain from Pixsy shortly before this posted. There are loads of new features coming from Pixsy in the next few weeks. Watch this space - I'll be writing more about them when they are live. And go get signed up for Pixsy already!
