current ratings of the les mis adaptations i have seen:

musical- 9/10, i have my personal grudges with it (what the hell did they do to grantaire?) but it got me into this whole thing so... idk. also the songs slap so that helps

1978- ???/10, literally cannot form a coherent opinion on it. it's probably one of my favorite movies and yet it cuts so many characters just for more javert time. the lack of gillenormand context makes him fucking hilarious. it is both horrible and amazing. love it. perkinsvert is my lifeblood

1998- 4/10, they butchered SO many characters and while i did think they handled fantine very well and i thought her friendship with jean valjean was adorable that's probably the highlight of the movie. why did he bite someone? why did they change the names of characters/locations randomly? i could go on
