'The purpose of our lives is to be happy' ✌🏻 // I recently watched a Youtube video by @tokyo_one highlighting this man, Koichi Shimayama, and his small electronic-parts shop in Akihabara, Tokyo 😀 He's been sitting at this spot for 43 years after inheritting the shop from his dad and he's now decided to retire. I'm honoured to have met him once before and listening to his story was really inspiring! ✨Sanrio Puroland✨or as I usually refer to it, Hello Kitty Land. Reminiscing about my 2018 trip there. I don’t think I shared much about that trip because I ended up losing most of the pics I took on my camera, but I do still have these few shots that I took there on my phone. 🎀 Since I arrived in Tokyo with obscenely swollen ankles (I’d sprained both of them in a motorbike accident in Bali and then continued to hike up mountains every day for a week oops), I spent most of my time in Japan on bedrest. 🎀 One of the few things that was worth hobbling out and doing was going to this place that epitomized Japan’s kawaii culture. It was a small indoor theme park with 2 rides, some shows and parades, several character meet and greets, and more. 🎀 I had such a great time! As soon as you get off the train, you are greeted by a train station ceiling with Hello Kitty artwork. It is a short walk from the station to Sanrio Puroland, and once you enter, you are transported to a world that feels very similar to the vibe of the Wizard of Oz scene in Disney’s Great Movie Ride (rip). 🎀 Although I have had literally no exposure to Hello Kitty and friends, I didn’t feel like that hindered my enjoyment. Some interesting lightings we encountered during sunset. Havent done much of these street/urban explorations for quite some years now. It has been only rooftops. 🤣 Really love the whole area for this location, it was peaceful, away from the busy town.
