New Face

It seems that my friend ShiKushtaka has become an Ahamkara, and will remain as such until the end of 2024.  I'm a bit biased, but I love stories of this format, and wanted to try drawing his character. Didn't plan to do so much crosshatching, but I got kind of carried away with the dip pens.

Day 100/100 #the100dayproject I made it to the last day. My objective was to continue to learn to illustrate, but to also loosen up and and be more playful. I also experimented with, #watercolors, #watercolorpencils #watercolorcrayons, ink and #dippens. It was fun and insightful. With this last set of #sketches I experimented with my #bamboodippen of different widths. As you can see the wider width, the little guy on the right, was harder to control when it came to the ink. I like the texture the bamboo makes though as the ink begins to run out. I look forward to practicing and playing with #inksketches. I’m so thankful for this challenge since it challenged me to try new things and play. I feel my #illustrations and the way I think about them has improved. Day 12: Hello! More new ink testing. I didn't shake this one as vigorously as the others so I think the consistency was slightly thin. (But last time I got so many bubbles!) Should have found a stick and stirred it up a tad more. Still a beautiful rich pink color! Love how it pops on black and white paper.

Day 99/100 #the100dayproject Just playing around with my #morningsketches today. I’m trying to let my brain play before I start brainstorming the improvements my teacher suggested when he reviewed my story this week. I need to revise and redo my dummy, but first play. Day 31: poppy. This ink color is so fun. Just wait for the shimmer at the end. It was a bit thick so I really had to work to get it off the nib but if I wanted to I'm sure I could add a few drops of water next time.
