Reccer says: Such atmospheric, visual writing that was used to create such an interesting world! The characters are so complex and have inner demons that eventually reveal themselves.

The one where Niall is a perfectly normal university student, until he finds himself an ocean away in the middle of Ohio with a strange man telling him to stop wandering off. Then he’s in space. It’s a whole thing.

Reccer says: Emmu's fics are always their own special brand of charming and this fic is no exception. It's so delightful and odd and it makes me so happy.

haven't done a last line in a while, i think? anyway this is from my wip where louis and harry married young and divorced only slightly less young, and now life has sort of brought them together, and louis is clearly annoyed about it. also this is a long af sentence :D

“If you didn't want me to go out with Liam, you should’ve said, and you shouldn’t’ve given him my number, you wanker,” Zayn says as soon as Louis opens the door, pushing past Louis into his house, and through to the kitchen where he reaches into the cabinet above the fridge where Louis keeps his weed.

There was so much tender sweetness in the way they treated each other and I loved that even though it was just in Louis’ POV, we still got a very clear picture of how Harry felt. Honestly Louis in this fic is just sweetest thing ever. Harry should marry that boy.

Faking It by TheCellarDoor (M, 46K) This one is so sweet. I loved Harry's internal monologue... his insecurities and thoughts that he'd made Louis uncomfortable because he liked, him made me cry. Louis is so soft and supportive. It’s just a lovely fic.

* sweet baby, our sex has meaning by publunchesownmyass (E, 8K) This author manages to make this fic romantic and filthy and super sexy all at once. Plus, Harry in that lace dress and you’ve got a winner.

* mon petit, little one by publunchesownmyass (E, 6K) Yes, you guessed it. Harry wears that fluffy sweater from the Tiny Desk performance in a much less innocent moment. I characterizations, banter, and situation felt really authentic and this fic is super sexy.

* violence of my own touch by orphan_account (E, 5K) I just found this fic today, actually, and was so moved by the way this author portrayed both Harry and Louis — the exhaustion, the confusion, the sadness, but also the deep love and need for each other. Alpha/Alpha.

* Have a Nice Trip by @kingsofeverything (E, 6K) I didn’t know I needed horny Harry tripping on ‘shrooms, but I definitely did! This is really funny and sweet.

And of course, I can’t resist a fic with Harry in a dress inspired by the Lights Up director’s cut. Side note, there’s some steamy smut, even though it’s NR.

My Lights Stay Up, But Your City Sleeps by PearlyDewdrops (E, 108K) Featuring lots of pining, really well done internal monologue from Louis, and excellent smut. It also has some really lovely writing that I felt captured the pain of mental illness/anxiety very well.

* Lightning Strikes Twice by @dinosaursmate (E, 106K) It’s not often that I read a 100+K fic multiple times, but this one is worth it. It’s one of my favorites from this author, and a favorite all around. It’s an epic love story spanning decades and massive life changes. It’s sexy and well-written, and so touching, and so fulfilling in many ways. Famous!Harry, groupie!Louis (also bookstore owner Louis, but that’s later).

kiwi by fondleeds (M, 24K) honestly I have trouble putting down anything this author writes…they just build a setting and detail characters in a way that I find really compelling. This one maybe feels slightly OOC, but it’s such a good read I didn’t care at all.

Promise Not To Stop When I Say When by becka, mediaville (E, 49K) Harry, Louis, Nick. So, read the tags here because it’s got some pairings that might not be your thing. HOWEVER, even with Nick involved, it’s hot af and it’s still endgame Larry.

* Young & Beautiful by velvetoscar (M, 227K) This fic is wordy and descriptive (which isn’t for everyone) and the characters are probably pretty OOC, but I love it anyway. I know that doesn’t sound like a recommendation, but truly the writing is poetry, the characters are so well-developed, the visuals and setting have stuck with me for years –– there’s a reason this one is a classic.

1. Write consistently when I have time. I have a lot going on next year, so I don't think a 25k a month goal is realistic. I think aiming for 5-10k is probably more realistic, so I hope to write about 75-100k in 2023.

2. Finish my @onedirectionbigbang and @zouisfics fest before the deadline. So I have enough time to edit and don't have too much stress.

3. Write more different pairings and settings. I enjoy challenging myself so I want to continue doing that.

4. Get on top of my comments and keep up with them. Readers deserve more love than I've been able to give them.

5. Write one fic outside of a fest. I have so many ideas and I'd love to write some without the stress of a deadline.

6. Write an advent fic. I unfortunately didn't get to do that this year, but watch out 2023! I am super excited to write one.
