Day 1 : Arrival: #Madurai You've arrived at the #airport or #railway station, and your driver is ready to pick you up. Now it's time to freshen up after your long journey and get ready for the adventure ahead. We'll pick up from your hotel in the evening and you can head out for dinner in town, if you like—but first, we'll make a stop at #SriMeenakshiTemple, #Thirupparakundram, #AzhagarKovil, #Pazhamudhircholai, #KoodalAzhagarTemple. We'll start at Sri Meenakshi Temple: it's one of the most beautiful temples in India—and it's definitely worth seeing! The next stop on our tour is #Thirupparakundram. It's a #mountaintemple dedicated to #LordMurugan (or Kartikeya). Next up is Azhagar Kovil: this #templehouses idols of Lord Vishnu in his incarnations as #Narasimha and #Varaha (the boar incarnation). Then it's off to Pazhamudhircholai: an ancient #cavetemple dedicated to #LordShiva that offers stunning views of Madurai city below.

Day 2 - Rameshwaram: #ArrivalAndSightseeing After breakfast, it's time to head out on the road again! Today, we'll be heading towards #Rameshwaram . It's a nearly three-hour drive, but we'll be stopping along the way to visit some important religious sites. First up is #HanumanTemple (24 ft), which was built in 1873 by #MarathakingShivaji II. Next is #PambanBridge—it's actually an arch bridge that connects India and Sri Lanka through the Palk Bay. After that, we'll stop at #KashiViswanathaTemple and #Dhanushkodi before stopping at 24 Kundalas—these are shrines dedicated to Lord #Vishnu'savatarforms. Later today, you'll get dropped back off at your hotel so you can enjoy a comfortable overnight stay!

Day 3 - Rameshwaram: Sightseeing Your first stop today is the #RamanathaswamyTemple, which dates back to the #Choladynasty . Next, you'll head over to #DhanushkodiBeach, where you can see why it's called "the land of #dolphins" by looking out at their pods in the water. Finally, you'll pay a visit to #RamaSetu #Adam's Bridge, a limestone structure that connects #India with #SriLanka across the #PalkStrait. It's believed that this bridge was created by #LordRama during his exile from #Ayodhya. After your walking tour of these three sites, we'll drop you off at your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4 - Rameshwaram > Kanyakumari After breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and head to #Kanyakumari. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel for a #restfulday . After resting, we will go to #SriKumariAmmanTemple and then #ThiruvalluvarStatue, which is 133 feet tall. The 38-foot pedestal represents the 38 chapters in the Book of Aram. We will end our exploration with a visit to the miraculous confluence of three seas: #ArabianSea, Indian #Ocean and #Bay of #Bengal. The #VivekanandaMemorial is located at this confluence and is a pilgrimage for all stressed hearts looking for some respite and solace. After enjoying a pleasant boat ride around this place, we return to our hotel for the night.

Unmanned: There exist places that still thrive in luck of being too normal to not attract to itself some human infestation and this "secret" pier of Dhanushkodi is one such beauty that is still safe from the trail dusts of litterers and polluters. I actively make an effort to not tag such places to their exact locations or tag their pictures zeroed in, in an attempt to preserve their desertedness, which is the lone factor that has & will save them and let them just be. This pier once served as a loading dock for sea-trade and is a souvenir that remains to serve the locals on fishing expeditions. And since this pier faces exactly the opposite way from the other pier I spoke of in a different photograph on 7th, towards the Bay of Bengal, it has absolutely zero wave force, laying calmly. And calm enough for schools of average sized fish preying on schools of smaller fish and clear enough for me and my pal to watch that hunt. The only thing that reminds you, when you're here, that you're still in Dhanushkodi is the same gush of gales that battle your hair, all the while. On December 22, 1964, a massive cyclone swirled across Dhanushkodi with winds gusting up to 170 mph and the entire town was in ruins and deserted in the aftermath, just as it has stayed to this day. Tragically nearly 1,800 people lost their lives, and all the houses in the town were razed to the ground. The Madras Government quickly labelled the town as ‘not fit for human habitation’. In most people's eyes, Dhanuskodi has two eras: the pre-1964 cyclone era and the post-cyclone era. However, I believe that there is a second "cyclone" that happened in the name of development. Post-Cyclone Dhanuskodi: (before the beach road was laid). If you wanted to visit Dhanuskodi, you would drive your car up to the village with ruined buildings. There, you will hop onto a taxi (Hindustan Motors Trekker, Mahindra MM540) for two main reasons: a) the beach sand required a 4x4 and b) the route had certain spots where the seawater would come in during high tide. And honestly, if you are a thrill-seeker, it added that element of adventure. I was more fortunate to drive my Gypsy to this spot. Not only was it challenging to drive, but the wild landscape also made it memorable. And we had the pleasure of standing in the last inch of sand. Developed Dhanuskodi: Years later, the supreme one inaugurated the beach road at Dhanuskodi. Now, you have a smooth tarmac leading you to the tip. You can drive your everyday car. But in the name of development, the elements of adventure and thrill doesn't exist. And along with the ruins, the livelihood of those taxi drivers, street vendors and tourist guides have been lost.
