Baseless Headcanon: While the Elder Scrolls do not possess a will, the possibilities of prophecies within do. These possibilities - think of them as a sort of remnant of their speaker - exert their influence in the penumbra between realms, some as whispers and some as shouts.

When Dexion was given the Sun Scroll to read, he heard a cry, faint, beautiful, and thick with grief. And when he saw the Bow, it only seemed natural that a shattered remnant would grab for the eyes, if only to be seen again.

thank you for the ask! :) i will babble a not-so-little bit about my favorite storylines of hers, the OG lore

caerellia grew up believing that a man named dexion was her father, but he fucking hated her. at the beginning of her campaign she was contacted by an archdevil/great old one named gargauth who claimed that he was actually her father. in our homebrew world, gargauth is the father of aboleths, and caerellia is an aboleth tiefling with powerful telepathy and also sprouts inky tendrils in the water, so that seemed pretty reasonable to her and much more appealing than "born cursed under the blood moon under a thinning veil" thing.

gargauth had motives behind this. he said that he had chosen her in her mother's womb (creepy, but typical of GOOs and archdevils) to be his Champion and to help him protect the planes from other GOOs, who were coming soon to destroy everything. he needed her to rally support across the material plane and beyond, and help him to take back the layer of hell that he once ruled because at this point, he was in hiding from asmodeus for interhell-politics reasons (aka gargauth wanted to murder asmodeus and asmodeus wanted to murder gargauth).

gargauth talked a big game, told her everything she wanted to hear - that she wasn't cursed, that she could be immensely powerful, that she had a father who loved her. and being desperate to get out of where she had been forced by dexion, she fell for it. hook, line, sinker.

so her first tasks were simple for an antiquarian like her: she had to find his ancient artifacts. one of them was called the scepter of the sunken, and had one of the most bitchin' stat blocks i'd ever seen so, of course, it was fucking cursed as shit.

but caerellia didn't know that and over the course of being attuned to it, it started to change her. she became more brutal, more focused on revenge and less willing to see perspectives that didn't line up with her plans for revenge.

being borderline evil is pretty par for the course in the circles she was running in at that point, and she had pushed almost everyone away except for her wife and childhood friend, volusena, and a goddess hiding under her nose.

thankfully, volusena and lilith were able to talk sense into her. they sealed the scepter away under the tightest lock and key imaginable, and thus began caerellia's redemption and journey into becoming who she was truly meant to be: the champion of lilith. but that's a story for another time.

Honestly the Dawnguard questline is cool but it sucks big time when you use realistic needs mod because you frequently have to travel from one end of the map to the other.

Let's just recap the questline when you're following the vampire hunter path (ie not taking Harkon's vampirism gift). Dayspring Canyon, on the southeast edge of the map, near Riften. Then you go to Dimhollow, north-northwest of Whiterun. Escort Serana to Castle Volkihar on the northwest edge of the map in the middle of the sea. Travel all the way back to the complete opposite end of the map, back to Dayspring.

Fetch Gunmar and Sorine. Gunmar's location is randomized, but Sorine is always at that small Dwemer ruin in The Reach region, west of Dragon Bridge. Go all the way back to Dayspring Canyon. Meet Serana again. Oh what's that, time to find the moth priest Dexion to read an Elder Scroll. Guess where the moth priest is? BACK TO DRAGON BRIDGE.

Meet Dexion back at Fort Dawnguard. Serana suggests her mom has another Elder Scroll. Where could she be, I wonder? IN THE DAMN CASTLE VOLKIHAR.

And that's just the first half of the questline. Not counting the time you will spend in Soul Cairn and Forgotten Vale. Like, gods, if this game was realistic I think the Dragonborn would need both legs transplant from all that walking after Harkon is dead.

I made it to Morrowind! Not the part where Mournhold is, but there’s lots of stuff to see and I can get there eventually. I hope you’re not too mad about me getting in trouble, I’m REALLY sorry. (Don’t tell Dexion I said I’m sorry though because I’m not sorry at him and I think probably he should get lit on fire more often to build character. I promise he didn’t even get hurt he’s just a big baby and a s’wit. You can tell him I said that part.)

I saw they have a courier’s office in the place they dropped me off but they said I have to deliver a package for them before I can send anything myself. I think that’s a weird rule to have but probably Llaalam just forgot to tell me that’s how the mail works here. I don’t think it’s drugs because it looks like pretty official Imperial business but they did tell me to be really secretive and discreet about it.

They have guildhalls for the Mages Guild here too! I was going to tell them I haven’t gotten my recommendation letters from everywhere else, just the one in Chorrol, but the lady in charge here in Balmora was really nice and said I could help as an Associate! So I made a new friend and I’m helping her study mushrooms and flowers and stuff. There’s a lot of plants here we don’t have back home. I pressed one of the flowers we picked for you—I hope it stays nice in the mail. Ajira says this one’s called stoneflower. Do you think when I come home we could plant some in the garden?

I am getting the normal kind of sleep and food and they’re letting me stay here in the guildhall while I’m helping Ajira. The food isn’t as good as yours. Ranis said I have to be higher rank to learn guild secrets (this is a VERY good soup) so tomorrow I’m going to see what she says I have to do to get promoted to Apprentice.

The old guy I delivered the package to says he needs help with something too, and I feel bad because he doesn’t seem like he has any friends, but learning about all the flora has been keeping me pretty busy. I think maybe I’ll ask Ajira if she’d come with me to see what he needs help with. I have to make sure he told the courier’s office that I gave him his package anyway so I can send your letters.
