Mark Goddard (born Charles Harvey Goddard; July 24, 1936 – October 10, 2023) Film and television actor who starred in a number of television programs. He is probably best known for portraying Major Don West in the CBS series Lost in Space (1965–1968). He also played Detective Sgt. Chris Ballard, in The Detectives, starring Robert Taylor.

In 1959, after just three weeks in Hollywood, he landed a role in the CBS Four Star Television series Johnny Ringo, having played the character of Cully, the deputy to Don Durant's character of Ringo. At this time, he changed his name to Mark Goddard at the suggestion of his friend and mentor Chuck Connors of The Rifleman. Goddard appeared as Norman Tabor in the 1960 episode "Surprise Party" of the CBS anthology series The DuPont Show with June Allyson. He was cast as Sheldon Hollingsworth in the 1960 episode "To See the Elephant" of the ABC Western series The Rebel, starring Nick Adams. He played Tod Rowland in the 1960 episode "The Mormons" on Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theatre. Goddard also appeared in The Rifleman as Marty Blair in 1962 in the episode “Mark’s Rifle.”

The Detectives, another production of Four Star Television, was a hit series which ran on ABC and NBC from 1958 to 1961; Goddard was signed for a role lasting three years (64 episodes). In 1963, Goddard appeared as Roy Mooney on the Perry Mason episode "The Case of the Potted Planter". In 1964 Goddard appeared as Richard on The Virginian in the episode titled "The Secret of Brynmar Hall." That same year he guest starred as a wild killer named “Boyd” in the episode “Journey For Three” on the TV Western series Gunsmoke (S9E36).

Goddard's next role was Major Don West on Lost in Space (1965–1968). A blossoming romance initially existed between West and Judy, the elder daughter of the Robinson family, but by the middle of the second season, West maintained an adversarial relationship with the hapless, sociopathic Dr. Zachary Smith

Goddard guest-starred on three ABC series, The Fugitive, The Mod Squad, and The Fall Guy and for a while, moonlighted as a Hollywood agent. In 1970, Goddard co-starred with Kent McCord and Martin Milner in an episode of Adam-12, in which he plays a friend of Pete Malloy (Milner), who is killed in the line of duty. The episode was titled "Elegy for a Pig" (so titled and announced by Jack Webb himself). Mark Goddard also played Ellie May's beau on the Beverly Hillbillies. Goddard played a supporting role in a 1974 episode ("Dark Legacy") of CBS's Barnaby Jones.

In 1979, Goddard starred as Ted Clayton on One Life to Live and as Lt. Paul Reed on The Doctors. Later, he starred as Derek Barrington on General Hospital. (Wikipedia)

Meanwhile, Chris is helping his journalist friend, Toby Greenslade, to investigate the use of illegal drugs in golf, and golf pro, Jack Mason to expose an illegal betting scam in the game.

About the Author:

Malcolm's writing career began when he and his wife, Jill Foster, published The Family Welcome Guide - about family-friendly hotels, pubs and restaurants in the UK. It went into 23 editions during the '80s and '90s.

The first Chris Ludlow golf mystery, 'Sudden Death', was published in 1991 and was followed by four more Chris Ludlow stories, as well as a blockbuster, 'Predator', about a ruthless agent at large in the world of international sport. His other books include a history of the Ryder Cup and a guide to European golf courses.

'Patriotic Games', was published in 2013 and was initially inspired by a photograph of the Corinthians team which toured Canada and the USA in 1906. His speculation about how many of that team might have perished in WW1 provided the impetus for the novel.

Malcolm has been an agent for sportsmen since the early '70s. His clients, past and present, include squash player Jonah Barrington, Muhammad Ali, golfer Johnny Miller, football stars Denis Law and Trevor Brooking, top rugby players such as Gareth Edwards and Phil Bennett, and many other sporting heroes.

I guess I'll make a post about it but I can't help thinking about driving away. Anywhere else. Somewhere where I can just go sit in a starbucks all day to do work. Literally nothing is open here and I don't know how to do work in this studio. Even just a hotel room somewhere else I could even work with that. I keep thinking about going to Barrington and according to the doctors I'm clear to be in public as of Tuesday. But I kinda think I should leave my poor old parents alone. But I honestly can't keep living like this tho. I've been in this room for 13 days. It's only 90 minutes to Milwaukee and I bet they have starbucks open, maybe I should just go there? Idk like is everybody really gonna be inside until April 7? I can't live like this anymore. I wanna go see leo or katherine or something but nobody wants to see me, even if a doctor has cleared me nobody's gonna wanna see me. Tuesday is my bday and I'll video chat a doctor and be like "just tell me if I'm clear" and I'm sure they'll say I am but like. I just want to go be in the world. I probably won't leave the city I'll probably just take a fucking freezing cold walk along the lake on tuesday but. I would die to get out of here. I wonder if derek would meet up with me. I wonder if he quarantined himself. I kinda doubt it knowing that man. Idk but I NEED to see a human. This is exactly why I always want a roommate. I hate being alone and I've been all alone for THIRTEEN FUCKING DAYS and you know what? I'm a nice girl I deserve to see a human on my birthday

N.S. Police continue investigation into suspicious packages

Police are continuing their investigation after suspicious packages were sent to Halifax City Hall this week.

The Halifax Regional Police Forensic Identification Unit says they have not found any traces of dangerous substances or irritants in any of the packages, but there is more investigation work to be done.

“They seized a number of envelopes from that location, and they continue to test them to see what may or may not be in those envelopes,” said Cst. John MacLeod.

“We have received an additional four instances which were related to political offices as well, with similar packages and envelopes.”

Other packages were delivered to at least four public offices in the province, including one incident where an employee was injured after opening the package.

Police believe some of the packages contained a chemical irritant and further testing is being conducted to identify the substance.

Conservative MP Rick Perkins confirmed to CTV News that his federal constituency office in Barrington Passage, N.S., was one of the targeted locations earlier this week.

Perkins says his assistant had difficulty breathing and his eyes and skin became irritated after he opened a package that had arrived at the office, so the man called police.

In Halifax, Liberal MP Andy Fillmore tweeted Thursday that suspicious packages had been sent to his office too.

Liberal MLA Derek Mombourquette knows of at least two other offices that were targeted.

“Here locally in Cape Breton, MP Kelloway received a package. And my colleague Fred Tilley also received a package to my knowledge at this point,” said Mombourquette.

Kent MacDonald has provided security for government officials in the past. He said when his clients receive threatening mail, emails or verbal abuse, he tells them not to respond.

“What they’re looking for is a response, right? That’s exactly what they want,” said MacDonald.

He has advice for anyone who might find themselves in similar situation.

“If you are receiving threats, pass them off the law-enforcement. If something is deemed suspicious i.e. a package of that nature, it could be something as simple as security setting up an undisclosed location where that mail could be forwarded to. Then the mail is examined by security.”

As for the escalating tone of recent protests, Mombourquette said he respects the right for everyone to be heard.

“If you have concerns, express that, we celebrate that.”

He is asking his constituents, and Nova Scotians in general, to be supportive of each other, not devise.

Kerry Washington & Steven Pasquale Set Broadway Returns In New ‘American Son’

Scandal‘s Kerry Washington and Rescue Me‘s Steven Pasquale will team up for their Broadway returns next fall in American Son, a new play by Broadway newcomer Christopher Demos-Brown.

Directing will be Kenny Leon, who won a Tony Award for 2014’s A Raisin in the Sun starring Denzel Washington. Leon most recently directed the Broadway revival Children of a Lesser God.

The play is set in a Florida police station in the middle of the night, with a mother searching for her missing teenage son, and is described by the production as “a gripping tale of two parents caught in our national divide, with their worst fears hanging in the balance.”

Said Kerry Washington, “Christopher Demos-Brown has written a play that dives deep into the big questions of who we are as a nation, by exploring the intimate relationships within a family caught at the crossroads of love, loss, identity, and community.

“After reading the script I was immediately enthralled by the world of the play and the gripping circumstances that these characters are facing. I am excited to step into the ring with Kenny & Steve to tell this story on Broadway.”

The production will mark the Broadway premiere of American Son, which was commissioned and staged in 2016 by the Berkshire’s Barrington Stage Company. According to a synopsis of the original production, the play focuses on a separated interracial couple who are attempting to locate their missing 18-year-old son, whose empty car was found during a traffic stop.

Barrington’s world premiere staging starred Tamara Tunie (Law & Order: SVU) and Michael Hayden (Murder One). The play was awarded the 2016 Laurents/Hatcher Award for Best New Play by an Emerging Playwright.

American Son will begin performances on Broadway at the Booth Theatre on Saturday, October 6, with an official opening night set for Sunday, November 4.

The production will mark Washington’s return to Broadway after making her debut in David Mamet’s Race (2009). She starred in seven seasons of ABC’s hit series Scandal.

Pasquale returns to Broadway following last year’s starring role in Lincoln Center Theater’s Junk and the 2013 musical Bridges of Madison County. After his breakthrough role on FX’s Rescue Me, he appeared on TV in The People Vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story, The Good Wife, and Doubt, among others.

The American Son cast will also include Eugene Lee (August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean) as a police lieutenant.

Derek McLane will be the scene designer; Dede Ayite, costume design and Peter Fitzgerald, sound design.

American Son is produced on Broadway by Jeffrey Richards, Simpson Street, LLC, Rebecca Gold, Will Trice, Stephen Byrd, Alia Jones-Harvey, Bruce Robert Harris & Jack W. Batman, Greenleaf Productions, Van Kaplan and Gabrielle Palitz. Tickets go on sale June 8.
