A boat had come into Beach City’s port one day, which on the surface was nothing unusual. Fresh food from the ocean came there everyday, and was usually brought ashore by Yellowtail’s family, and sometimes it was boat tours for “dolphin” sightseeing, too. Whatever dolphins were.

But today, there was a boat that was a little more extravagant, causing Garnet to raise an eyebrow underneath her star-shaped glasses. No one arrived to oversee the boat, so it clearly hadn’t been expected. But who should disembark from the boat than somebody that the fusion hadn’t seen in ages.

Somebody that she was thrilled to see again.

“Lognei? Is that you?” Although she had gotten better at freely showing emotion, it still wasn’t something that came easy to her; nevertheless, her joy and a smile shone through upon seeing him. “It’s been forever! How have you been?”

She almost added please don’t tell me you stole that boat, but that could wait. Right now she was too happy to see him again.

     ━ CANON DIVERGENCE + SHIPS: on this blog, Pearl was originally one of White Diamond’s five default pearls & was given to Pink Diamond approximately 900 years after her original emergence. She was rejuvenated & handed over after Pink had accidently broken her former pearl (aka Pink Pearl). I will link a longer, more detailed post that further eludes on other aspects of canon-divergence in due time.      Additionally, untagged content concerning the ships pearlrose (pre-show timeline) & volleypearl (su: future timeline) will appear here on the daily; both relationships are integral parts of Pearl’s story arc. If you cannot stand either this blog is perhaps not for you.

“Soldan!!” Garnet practically squeed her name when she saw her approaching, but managed to recover at the last second and turn it into a very happy cry of the name of someone she hadn’t seen in ages. “Come in for a hug!”

She would spread out her arms for a hug, but of course would only deliver if Soldan wanted it. If not, she would transition into giving her an old-fashioned human high five. Either way, the glee in the fusion’s smile and voice was all too apparent: Even after all this time, she still considered her her adopted daughter. She could only hope she felt the same way.

“What have you been up to lately? I don’t mind if you’ve gotten into trouble, just as long as you’ve taken care of yourself. I…I’ve missed you deeply, Soldan.”

Prior to just a year or so ago, Beach City was just your average seaside tourist town, with a boardwalk, carnival, and various places to eat. It had just so happened to be populated by a handful of colorful aliens called Gems. But ever since then, the population of said Gems had exploded, albeit most of them were freshly-healed-from-corruption Gems that were learning to break free from their designed tasks and be their own person.

And so, Beach City had started getting far more tourists than usual. So much so that people who were actually planning to move and live there often got lost in the curious shuffle of people seeing if the rumors were true. But the group of Gems formally known as the Crystal Gems-protectors of Earth-wouldn’t let them be forgotten so easily. Everyone deserved a nice, warm, welcome to such a lovely place!

This house along this way, slightly up on a hill overlooking the coast and only a few steps from the boardwalk, seemed to be where the latest new resident had moved to. A lady named Eileen Roosevelt. It had been a couple of days, so hopefully she wouldn’t be spooked by a 8 foot tall Gem knocking and offering a proper tour!

Stoically as always, Garnet rang the bell and gave her usual introduction.

“Hello. You’re Ms. Roosevelt, right? Welcome to Beach City; I’m Garnet. Would you mind if I gave you a proper tour around town, or is now a bad time?”

She gave a small smirk as she finished speaking to let Eileen know that her intentions were pure and she was harmless.
