Hey, so uh…it’s been a while. Way longer than I’d ever thought.

To make a very long story that could easily be several paragraphs short: Nothing has gone wrong IRL, I’m doing fine, college has just been crazy as I’ve been preparing for my senior year, I’ve obtained several new fixations and interests, joined my first real Discord server, and definitely flat out forgot about Tumblr and everything on it for a few months. Real life was real life and that was totally on me for being very caught up in things and forgetting, and for all of that and making you guys worry I apologize.

I plan on coming back at some point in the middle of May, way after the semester and a concert I’m going to are over, but when I do I’m going to start completely over in terms of threads. Again. Asks will be kept and answered but all threads will be dropped; however if we were in the middle of a story thread and you’d like to continue it, an ask and a reminder of where we were in the story is all that’s necessary to continue!

Once again, I apologize for disappearing. I was all set and ready to come back around Valentines Day, but then life handed me new fixations and a crap ton of other stuff and that obviously didn’t happen. But as long as you all are okay with waiting a wee bit longer, I will be back for the summer! After that who knows lol, but I’ve kept you guys waiting and worrying long enough!

When Garnet arrived at the familiar desert town this time around, she made sure she shifted into an outfit appropriate for both the setting and who she was hanging out with. A violet cowgirl outfit with star-shaped spurs and buckles, and a wide hat that covered her entire square hairdo. It had been far too long since she had caught up with Aragonite, her rodeo-loving Gem friend, and she was intending to remedy that right now.

Off she went throughout the town, passing the saloons and townsfolk and during her best to look inconspicuous. It was only upon spotting Aragonite that she put on a small smirk, pushing up her hat with one finger in an imitation of a cowboy when she was close enough to her.

“Howdy.” She said that with a hint of mischievousness in her voice. “How do you like my look? It’s good to see you again, Aria.”

It was a stark reminder of how much time had passed that he didn’t even notice her at first, instead opting to play an admittedly funny trick on a customer in order to get a free tray of pizza. But just as predicted, once he saw just who the voice belonged to it was only a matter of time before she was swept up in a gigantic hug. What surprised her the most was how strong he had become, not that he wasn’t strong before. Now they could both lift up each other in a hug if they wanted to.

Yes, she had predicted his pun, but after a moment a chuckle escaped her lips and she started to laugh for several moments. God, she had missed him; it was way too serious without him around. “Good to see you again, too, Lognei,” she managed between giggles. “I’ve missed you, I really have!”

She only managed to get a hold of herself when he placed her back down, and it was then that she showed off her reinforced wedding rings. “Not much has changed. I just had Bismuth forge my rings so now it’s impossible for them to break. Just like my love.

“The far better question is…what’s new with you? Are those bodyguards…?”

She waved awkwardly over at them to see if they would react. That was definitely new, but something told her even Lognei wouldn’t go so far as to hire bodyguards to play a practical joke or trick on her.

A boat had come into Beach City’s port one day, which on the surface was nothing unusual. Fresh food from the ocean came there everyday, and was usually brought ashore by Yellowtail’s family, and sometimes it was boat tours for “dolphin” sightseeing, too. Whatever dolphins were.

But today, there was a boat that was a little more extravagant, causing Garnet to raise an eyebrow underneath her star-shaped glasses. No one arrived to oversee the boat, so it clearly hadn’t been expected. But who should disembark from the boat than somebody that the fusion hadn’t seen in ages.

Somebody that she was thrilled to see again.

“Lognei? Is that you?” Although she had gotten better at freely showing emotion, it still wasn’t something that came easy to her; nevertheless, her joy and a smile shone through upon seeing him. “It’s been forever! How have you been?”

She almost added please don’t tell me you stole that boat, but that could wait. Right now she was too happy to see him again.

She had missed hearing those little hissing noises that Soldan often let out, whether it be while she was getting ready to attack or for other, more benign reasons like right now. She hugged back just as tightly, consciously making sure she wasn’t squeezing back too hard, and even ruffled her hair a little bit with one hand just as they broke out of it. There was a broad smile on Garnet’s face: She really had deeply missed her.

“I’m glad you’re safe and well. I don’t know how long I was gone for but I was always thinking about you and how you were doing. Having insight into the future can only help stop me from worrying so much…”

She then put her hands on her hips, however, adopting a mischievous, cheeky tone of sorts. “But what’s this about ‘staying alive’? Don’t tell me you’ve been living somewhere that dangerous…”

She would spread out her arms for a hug, but of course would only deliver if Soldan wanted it. If not, she would transition into giving her an old-fashioned human high five. Either way, the glee in the fusion’s smile and voice was all too apparent: Even after all this time, she still considered her her adopted daughter. She could only hope she felt the same way.

“What have you been up to lately? I don’t mind if you’ve gotten into trouble, just as long as you’ve taken care of yourself. I…I’ve missed you deeply, Soldan.”

Are people having trouble seeing stuff from my sideblogs on their dashes? This is a genuine question. I posted two original things on my multimuse today, one of which was a call for curious anons cause I couldn’t find an actual meme to reblog oops 😅. The other was something a bit more dicey lol, and neither got any interactions whatsoever.

This is not me being needy and begging for interaction, honest (because lord knows I’ll be inactive anyway for a while when college starts back up in a week or so). I’m just genuinely wondering if Tumblr is being stupid 🤦‍♀️ Maybe reblogging an actual meme will help with things, even if there is an issue. I’ll look around and see what I can find!

In the meantime, replies to threads will be coming tomorrow, so look forward to those then!

Beach City always seemed prone to waves of people that liked to come and go at the drop of a hat-“tourists”, Rose had heard them be called. And tonight was no exception, as in the middle of town a large sparing grounds had been set up for some sort of purpose; according to flyers, it was a human sport called “boxing”. Once she had caught wind it involved fist fighting, Garnet’s preferred method of combat, well…it was only a matter of time before her more passionate side won out and she moved to go watch the match tonight all by herself.

..Was this what she looked like when she fought? She could so easily put herself in both of their shoes, and with every punch thrown or blocked that feeling only increased. It roused something in her, enjoyment of whatever this “boxing” was and wanting to find out more. She was particularly impressed by the female combatant’s abilities, to the point where Garnet swore she had used a handful of her own moves somehow as things continued …perhaps she would be up for a chat once the dust settled?

After the match, Garnet wound her way towards the backstage area and waited for her to come out. Once she did, the fusion waved over to her and she made a very awkward attempt at introductory small talk. She had always been bad at this.

“…Hello. Are you…the female boxer that was up there? I was very impressed. You put up a good fight. Really.”

Prior to just a year or so ago, Beach City was just your average seaside tourist town, with a boardwalk, carnival, and various places to eat. It had just so happened to be populated by a handful of colorful aliens called Gems. But ever since then, the population of said Gems had exploded, albeit most of them were freshly-healed-from-corruption Gems that were learning to break free from their designed tasks and be their own person.

And so, Beach City had started getting far more tourists than usual. So much so that people who were actually planning to move and live there often got lost in the curious shuffle of people seeing if the rumors were true. But the group of Gems formally known as the Crystal Gems-protectors of Earth-wouldn’t let them be forgotten so easily. Everyone deserved a nice, warm, welcome to such a lovely place!

This house along this way, slightly up on a hill overlooking the coast and only a few steps from the boardwalk, seemed to be where the latest new resident had moved to. A lady named Eileen Roosevelt. It had been a couple of days, so hopefully she wouldn’t be spooked by a 8 foot tall Gem knocking and offering a proper tour!

Stoically as always, Garnet rang the bell and gave her usual introduction.

“Hello. You’re Ms. Roosevelt, right? Welcome to Beach City; I’m Garnet. Would you mind if I gave you a proper tour around town, or is now a bad time?”

She gave a small smirk as she finished speaking to let Eileen know that her intentions were pure and she was harmless.
