Alton Kelly and Stanley Mouse used the late 19th century depiction of a skull with roses by Edmund Joseph Sullivan for the cover design of the Grateful dead album that is generally known as Skulls and Roses, after the record company had refused the title preferred by Jerry Garcia: Skull F*ck.
