Why Asbestos should diagnosis before works or demolition
The asbestos diagnosis is mandatory for all properties whose date of construction dates back before July 1, 1997. It helps to rule out the risks of asbestos exposure, a product that is harmful to workers. In terms of asbestos diagnosis, there are different variants, including DDAT (asbestos diagnosis before work) and DDAD (asbestos diagnosis before demolition). What are the specificities of these?
Asbestos diagnosis before work or DDAT
Before starting renovation work on a building constructed before July 1, 1997, an asbestos diagnosis must be carried out on the structure of the building; this is the DDAT.
The latter aims to detect the presence of asbestos in the construction materials of the building to rule out any risk of exposure to the employees who will come to work on the site.
It should be noted that before 1997, asbestos was massively used in construction for its insulating qualities. It was also found in the paints and other coatings of the house. As renovation or restoration work can degrade or destroy part of the asbestos building, an asbestos diagnosis must be carried out before starting the work.
A certified diagnostician must carry out the DDAT because only he can respect the established specifications. He will have to wear protective equipment during his investigation. Its mission will be to:
· Determine whether the building materials contain asbestos or not.
· Identify the type of asbestos detected.
· Locate their presence at the building level.
· Draw up a report with specific recommendations for starting asbestos removal before the works, as well as the disposal of waste, which must be done according to very specific standards.
The report from the DDAT is valid for three years if asbestos has been detected. If other renovation work is planned after this first certification, the DDAT must be redone.
Asbestos diagnosis before demolition or DDAD
DDAD has many similarities to DDAT because:
· It also targets buildings built before July 1, 1997.
· It must be carried out before opening the site.
· He must identify the presence of asbestos in the building.
· He must draw up an asbestos report to take the necessary asbestos removal measures before the demolition begins.
The only difference lies in the purpose of the work. The DDAT is carried out before renovation work, while the DDAD is carried out before partial or total demolition of a building. This is why during the diagnosis, the specialist can destroy part of the frame to take samples. This is called "destructive research," an action that is not authorized during a pre-sale asbestos diagnosis.
It should also be noted that before the DDAD, all bulky furniture in the building must be removed so that the professional can easily access all parts of the construction, even those deemed inaccessible, during a pre-sales diagnosis.
Security measures during DDAD and DDAT
Asbestos is a harmful substance that can spread through the air during work or the demolition of an asbestos building. Indeed, when the materials concerned are destroyed or degraded, they will release dust and asbestos particles into the air. It is, therefore, necessary to protect yourself against the inhalation of this harmful dust.
To do this, the diagnostician must wear specific safety equipment. Before its intervention, which is done in two phases, visual inspection and then sampling, the building must be evacuated by all the occupants or other workers and the furniture removed.
Remember that the consequences of asbestos exposure only appear after a few years. After a certain time, exposed people begin to develop symptoms of pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, lesions of the pleura, etc. Because of this late consequence, Asbestos Inspection has been made compulsory to prevent these risks...

✨️ Duran Duran Appreciation Day 2023 ✨️
Well another DDAD and another year that I'm so grateful to have this band in my life. This year marks the second time I've gotten to see them live and they were just as incredible as they were the first time I saw them.
This is the third DDAD that I've participated in and appreciated this band and it still blows my mind that there's a whole day dedicated to them - and it's so, so well deserved ♡
I've made so many friends because of my love for this band, I've really dedicated myself to playing bass and to learning as many of their songs as I can, and I've spent nearly all of my money scouring ebay for merch lmao, but it's been worth every cent!
So - Simon, John, Roger, Nick, Andy, and every other member of the Duran Duran family, thank you for being you and for bringing us your amazing music to this day ♡

Wanna know whats funny? I came back to your blog yesterday wondering if bdtn had updated or not.
WELL, FRIENDO, YOU ARE IN LUCK !
Come back in a few more days and I should have the first chapter of the trashy hookup AU up too. 😁
(And I am SO STOKED to finally be able to share that one -- it's a funny, smutty, angsty fuckbuddies-to-lovers high-energy rollercoaster. I just didn't want to post it until after I'd finished the canon, as it were, because their dynamic is VERY different in the hookup AU (it's uh, the Bad Timeline), and I didn't want their AU characterizations kicking around in people's heads while they were reading the last chapter of Beautiful Day.)
