I think it’s really funny how Danny is obviously a storyteller, but then his enjoyment of movies is basically forgotten about in his lore. It’s hard to tell if this is just a leftover nod to Scream, after-all “what’s your favourite scary movie?” is iconic—even if there’s absolutely zero evidence to support Danny using a similar method of phone-based psychological torture during his actual kills.
But his love for cinema must be intertwined with his usage of photography I would think. And this is what I think would be the most interesting aspect in his storytelling, personally. Initial photographs he takes while stalking are likely to be very basic, there’s some element of composition but it will be hampered by the fact you are dealing with unknowing subjects—it becomes a project of dealing in abstracts. Finding perfection in imperfection.
However, the final photo of his victim will be different. He has, in theory, enough time to stage a shot exactly how he wants it to be. He has the power to rewrite the story to his liking if he feels like something did not go the way he wanted it to by visual staging of the body and effects.
The Ghostface mori is a very quick event, but this to me is more an instance of game design over lore. He probably does take quick photos for certain kills, ones which may not be planned but are still meaningful—like the cop in Philly, or the entire situation of the trials in game… but I don’t think quick photos are the essence of his photography.
He’s too obsessive.
Bringing this back to movies, I think his photos borrow a lot from film language—there’s a lot of overlap here when it comes to staging shots which can be used, the main difference being film utilizes movement whereas photography is technically still-frame.
He probably loves a good Dutch angle, ya know? Horror staple.
Anyways, my end thought is that I think it’s really interesting to consider that Danny probably would not enjoy Scream—any of them. The meta commentary and satire would be lost on him, it would offend him.

BHVR didn't expand on Tristan from David’s lore as much as I would have liked, so I yoinked him and made him a survivor <3
[ Image Texts ]  Tristan Huisman - A romantic virtuoso, Tristan is able to hear more than other survivors and encode the soundscape of the Fog. He can use this intel to support his teammates, but it will force him into comprimising situations.
Perks - VIRTUOSO: The fog sings a song only you can hear. After every Great Skill Check on a generator, all remaining ones light up for 3 / 5 / 8 seconds. If only one generator remains to be finished, the closed exits light up instead. ONE HIGH G-NOTE: One note and you know it all. You gain additonal audio and visual cues, if you are within a 36 / 24 / 12 meter radius of the Hatch. MUSIC OF THE NIGHT: Close your eyes and let music set you free. After standing in a locker for 12 / 9 / 5 seconds, your ears pick up the Killer’s Terror Radius, lighting them up for 3 / 5 / 8 seconds.
Additional Information -
Childhood friend (and former boyfriend) of David King
Works as a contract musician in New York
Practically homeless, lives out of his car
Snarky, petty, romantic, melancholic
Visually based off of David Garrett

I was thinking about Dead by Daylight, as I do with most of my time, and I was thinking about the Blighted skins for the killers, where the Killers all are inflicted with the same drug vial as the Blight. All of them are deformed and oozing and pulsating- with a notable exception. Wesker is absolutely fine. The Blight hasn't taken over, it's just enhanced part of him, he's still in control and seemingly not in any pain or anything. Why is that? And then it hit me, the Blight's drug for performance improvement worked- when the subject WANTED it to work. Wesker is a lab rat, he wanted to be Blighted. He wants to unleash Oroboros onto all of the world. Wesker is a perfect candidate since he would be willing to still take that vial, even knowing the risks, since he wants peak performance, he wants to be greater. The survivors that the Blight mori's dont want it, and they die instantly to the vial. The workers that are forced to use the drug die since their bosses made them take it, they didnt want to. Even the Blight himself doesnt want it, he just keeps doing it since he thinks it will keep him alive. The Blight's drug works, but only for those who actually WANT it. It is incredible how much lore Behaviour can cram into their game through cosmetics and actual in-game effects alone.

So in doing historical research for Of Infinite Night, one of the things I really wanted to figure out was what Philip's exact ethnicity would be. We all know he's Nigerian but Nigeria itself has MANY subgroups of people, all with their own culture. I spent days looking into it and came to the conclusion that Philip is of Igbo descent.
How did I come to this conclusion, you say? Well, allow me to explain. Prepare for a lesson fellas.
As I said, there are many different tribes in Nigeria but the three dominant ones are: Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani.
Igbo:
Educated and hardworking people
Typically more focused on constant improvement
More involved with businesses and more "advanced" jobs
Eager to travel from their community and strive for bigger and better things
Majority Christian.
Hausa-Fulani:
Not generally as focused on higher education
Rural and are generally farmers or marketplace workers
Tend to stay within their community with little interest in leaving what they know behind.
Highly value religious beliefs
Majority Muslim.
Yoruba:
Kind of a mix of the other two
Can be both highly educated or content to stay in their community
Religious belief can vary but they are generally more aligned with the Igbo people
This tribe wasn't very involved in the Biafra War, so I didn't look too much into them and safely ruled them out as an ethnic group Philip could be.
The following is a very general rundown of historical events. There's definitely more nuance in what happened in this war, so just be aware of that as I go into this.
The Conflict
The Biafran War (Nigerian Civil War) mainly happened due to a power imbalance in Nigeria when the country was released from British control. The British, predictably, did not take into account the different tribes and their political and religious beliefs, and so they gave the Hausa-Fulani most of the government power without much forethought or even an attempt for a fair system for Nigeria to choose their own leaders. This caused an uproar for the Igbo people, who as the generally more "educated" people, are well aware of the issues at hand. They felt like they deserved better representation and control over the Nigerian government over the Hausa-Fulani.
It's important to note that it was very likely that the Hausa-Fulani were predominantly Muslim, and so their rule would not align well with other ethnic groups at all. This is the root of the issue that the Igbo people had with the Hausa-Fulani having most of the government at their fingertips.
The Igbo people would eventually attempt to mitigate the Hausa-Fulani's governmental power by assassinating a number of Hausa-Fulani representatives and attempting to place Igbo people there instead. Of course, this would cause another uproar and would fast track both tribes into what would become the Nigerian Civil War. The Igbo, who lives majority in the south, would attempt to secede from Nigeria. They called themselves Biafra.
The actual war actually took place in the northern parts of Nigeria, which is where the Hausa-Fulani people were and still are dominant. We know from Philip's tome that he was living right in the middle of the war when it was happening. Or was he?
The Anti-Igbo Progroms
In 1966, the Hausa-Fulani would commit a progrom against the minority Igbo people in the northern territory. An organized genocide against their opposing tribe. The actual war didn't start until a year later in this area when Biafra in the south would attempt to push back.
Now, in Philip's tome, there's a piece of dialogue that confirms a few things to me:
Endless stories of death, destruction and mayhem. He didn't understand any of them.
"They hate us. Why? Why do they hate us?"
"Because the radio and the television tell them to."
"What did I ever do to them?"
"You were born in newly created Nigeria, that's what you did. You were born a Northerner!"
Philip asks why he's hated, and the answer he's given is that he was born in newly created Nigeria as a Northerner. So... that would sound like he's Hausa-Fulani right off the bat. Right?
Well, let's remember what we know of Philip in general:
He likes chess and math.
He thinks analytically
Throughout the tome we can discern that he's a critical thinker
His grandmother consistently attempts to keep Philip focused on educational things like his math and chess
We can assume through what we read going through Philip's thoughts while all this is happening that Philip is actually an incredibly sharp, smart boy. He's not stupid, he knows what's happening. He questions it and ponders on it.
Eventually, Philip would manage to leave Nigeria entirely, and as his base lore so elegantly says right off the bat:
Philip Ojomo came to this country without anything than hope for a new beginning.
Which tribe aligns the most with all of these traits?
The Religious References
There's talk from Philip's adoptive mother Funanya over this "Angel of Death" vs "Angel of Mercy". At first glance, we can assume this to be references to what might be tribal beliefs. Traditional entities. I don't think so, though. I think these angels are a cultural flair to what we're all pretty familiar with in our own worlds.
The Angel of Death is the devil. Satan.
The Angel of Mercy is the lord. God.
In other words, I think these are just another label for Christian entities. Take a look at how Philip and Funanya speak of them.
Tome 4 - Conviction: Algebra of Infinite Night
Philip hears his grandmother's voice. "Death plus destruction equals good business for devils disguised as humans."
Philip grinds his teeth and answers the disembodied voice, "They should all be killed... those who pay for murder and those who profit from murder...!"
Funanya stares at him. "Philip... don't say such things... they are trying to take our humanity from us and that is the one thing they cannot take unless we give it to them!"
Philip feels his face harden, "I don't want a sermon. I want my family back. I want them to pay for what they did!"
Funanya puts a hand on his shoulder, "Pray to the Angel of Mercy that we survive so that we may bear witness!"
Philip stares past her at the growing night, "I'd rather pray to the Angel of Death and watch them suffer. Forgive, and be forgiven. I can't! I hate them! How can they take money to do such things?"
"There will be justice, Philip. They will not get away with their crimes!"
Philip doesn't say anything. He doesn't say anything because like his father he believes that those with money, those who can afford killing crews and the quantities of kerosene required to burn humans by the thousands, can get away with any crime they choose to commit - even mass murder. She can pray for mercy all she likes. He'd rather pray for vengeance.
Talk of sermons, prayer, atonement and forgiveness. For me, this has a lot of Christian undertones. What do you think?
Also, after looking up her name, I have learned that Funanya means "love" in Igbo.
The Conclusion
With everything I have pointed out here, I think it is safe to say that Philip is ethnically Igbo.
He was among the unfortunate population of innocent Igbos living in Hausa-Fulani territory during the political mayhem which would turn into a war.
He's a Northerner in newly created Nigeria - in other words, a northern Igbo boy in the new Nigeria released to and ruled by the Hausa-Fulani. That's why he was hated. That's why his people were dying and being killed around him. Philip not only lived through this awful war, but was also a victim to a genocide of his people. He survived the killing crews of the anti-Igbo progrom in 1966.
TLDR: Philip is Igbo guys. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk. 🥲👍

Fun facts about the fog!
The fog is a dangerous place. Depending on the time of day, you can wander off into the fog and encounter the survivor camp you just walked away from.
However, trial areas do not exist in a void, and are rather enclosures the entity has pulled out of different places in time and space for the sake of a playing field for its twisted game.
Campsites are OFF LIMITS for all killers. The light of the flames are forbidden territory. Round the clock terror would desensitize the survivors and the entity wants to keep its food fresh
The fog often rips holes in its sky, from which forth items, animals, and everything else can fall through. Unfortunately, these portals almost always dump their precious resources like food, batteries, and possible helpful items over or near trial areas. There is no avoiding the inevitable, so the survivors might as well head to trials on their own terms right? Especially if it means bringing back supplies.
Trial maps, when not actually in use of a trial, are open to the residents of the fog. If they entity senses four survivors on a trip to get supplies in them however, the nearest killer is pushed into the map, and a new trial will begin. Going into the fog by yourself will get you killed as well however, and nobody wants to run into huntress while grabbing a granola bar outside of a trial.
Killers and survivors can traverse trial areas and the fog between them at their will. But survivors often stay in the safety of whatever camp the entity puts them closest to. Being hooked and sacrificed is utter pain, but waking up in the nearest camp of survivors helps the blow. Upon killers doing their job, they’re released back into the fog . Depending on how they do, they may even be rewarded by the entity that holds them there.
Cheshire has noticed Some killers have favorite areas. They tend not to stray too far if they can help it, and only leave if the entity pulls them elsewhere. Michael myers is almost always at his childhood home staring out the window. The Deathslinger prefers the asthetic of the old saloon. If you are venturing into the fog near these places, be warned. Killers get bored when left alone for too long, and aren’t against forcing you into their favorite locations for a trial.

How easy is it for people to just be like “I like playing DBD but I just don’t really have it in me to go into the lore” THATS SO EASY. (Even though you should regardless because it’s fucking phenomenal)
And not “I love dead by daylight! I hope more lore comes out!” While actively not putting in any effort to read up on the existing lore.

Maybe im just a dumbass but what's the deal with Danny's dad? It's probably gonna get clearer when the next notes come out but do we have theories?
I thought he might be a cop who really enjoyed playing executioner on the street.

okay so here’s what i’ve been thinking about for the past i have no clue how long. in the new season of stranger things, michael myers is namedropped. frankly little thing, i know. CONSIDER for a moment that micheal myers is ALSO a playable character in dead by daylight. this confirms the whole fan theory that people from one universe (ex. myers, amanda) can exist as fictional characters in another universe. this means that there is a likely scenario where like, yun-jin saw like leatherface and was like “wait what the hell i saw that guy in a movie.” or it could also imply that the silent hill games are in the resident evil universe, really it could imply lots of thing but i have not the energy to type a lot of them right now.

Man every time I think about the way the Beneath the Mask tome has Danny describe his murders as “misunderstood therapy” for “suburban living” I go a little bit insane.

Reason 1520 why Macmyers is canon:
In DBD Michael has add-on "Dead Rabbit" but in movies he has never killed rabbits (only dogs and rats). Also rabbits are very shy animals so you need to be very skilful to catch them.
At the same time we know damn well that Evan is a professional Trapper and rabbits (and other rodents) are mentioned in his lore. He literally hunted rodents since his childhood.
Actually you can hunt rabbits only with dogs, guns or traps. Is Michael capable of using any of these? No. So who do you think can catch so many rabbits for him? 😏

How about some fun for Thanksgiving, for once?
Got a lot of cooking to do tomorrow? How about several hours of a podcast in which three queers talk about the buck-wild lore the developers of Dead by Daylight pulled out of their posteriors to give their killers backstories? And what if it was easily-findable by searching Read by Daylight on most podcast apps, or going to https://readbydaylight.net?
We even started out of order to talk about a hot buff lady who wears animal masks and hucks hatchets at people, just so you get to hear about something cool before we dive deep into the lame ones. Because we care about our audience.

just figured id copy my comment from this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuoYHasD1AE
I do sometimes wonder this same thing, about how the Entity can take these people without causing any outer disturbance, but when the wiki said the spidery form of the Entity may be inspired by the form taken by the creature from IT i got thinking. IT can be visible as a large female spider (like how the Entity is often referred to in lore and by Devs with female pronouns, and takes the form of spidery claws in the trials) but has a true form of swirling destructive orange lights "deadlights" (which may explain the orange goo on maps, and makes the name Dead by Daylight kinda a play on words of "Deadlights"). IT is described as a multiversal entity, feeding on fears, much like how The Entity is a multiversal Goddess who feeds on emotions like hope and despair.
It's fully possible that if The Entity is based on the writings of Stephen King, that while IT is a basis of The Entity's appearance and nature, the scale of it may be something similar to a Langolier, a creature that devours time at the end of a universe. The Langoliers' consume dying universes, and destroy remnants of the past, including those who are displaced in time. The Entity may be the same, they may be an unseen force that is cleaning up the multiverse of dying realities, and those who do not belong in their time. Maybe as a universe comes to an end, the Entity chooses new players to add to it's games, feeding it the hope and despair that they need to survive. After all, those who escape can find themselves in the void, as if there is nothing outside the Entity anymore, that theres no home left for them to return to.
I think that adds a lot of interesting weight to DBD. The idea that in one way, the Entity is dooming people to it's sadistic games, forcing them into awful pain and death for eternity, as their soul slowly fades, but in another way, it's saving them from a permanent death, giving them new chances at something else, finding new people, making new friends, experiencing triumph and defeat. The Entity feasts on all emotions, not just despair, but hope and love as well. In the Entity's realm, both the Nurse and Wraith were given new chances at life and love after experiencing nothing but tragedy, and their cosmetics show that they found love in eachother in the Realm. The Artist is given new hands and a new voice to create again. The Demogorgon is freed from the Mindflayer. Victor and Charlotte are reunited. Survivors like Tapp and Bill are saved from death.
