It's interesting to consider all of this in full context of how Toshiro is framed in the scene. The argument starts with Toshiro insisting that Marcille was wrong to revive Falin with black magic and that she should go back with him to face punishment from elvish society, then get their help in putting Falin to rest. Laios argues that they can actually help Falin, and that eating properly gives them the strength to pull it off, at which point Toshiro tries to shut Laios down by throwing his past frustrations in his face. When Laios eventually overpowers Toshiro, he attributes it to his party taking proper care of themselves, at which point Senshi shows up to offer Toshiro food. Meanwhile, Maizuru expresses frustration at Toshiro's behavior, and when Toshiro talks about his out-of-the-blue proposal to Falin, Mickbell questions why he would do something like that, while Chilchuck remarks that it's the kind of world he lives in. Every part of Toshiro's position here comes across as antithetical to the protagonists and the quest we're following them on. Even other characters present don't seem to think much of his behavior here. And, while playing that antagonistic role, we see him imposing those social standards on someone who finds them confusing and alienating. The result is that the primary lens through which the viewer is encouraged to see the scene is that of an autistic person being berated for not living up to a set of social standards, and in particular not meeting the standards of Japanese society. And while a Japanese audience might find it easier to understand why Toshiro thinks the way he does, the scene is very clear in sending the message that he is wrong and that, as previous comments noted, he's been stuck in a mindset that's hurting both him and Laios. The outcome of the fight suggests that Toshiro would benefit from learning to think more like Laios about food - and I think the audience is also meant to feel that Toshiro would benefit from learning to think more like Laios about people.

People tend to throw out the phrase "extremely specific kinks" as though that inherently implies something transgressive, but in my experience, the overwhelming majority of extremely specific kinks are so innocuous that you could see them in public and not even clock them. For every person who can only get off to having their nipples electrocuted, there are a dozen who are volcanically aroused by seeing their partner wearing one specific pair of socks.

Not the danny as a girl dad post coming right for me and my daddy issues

Worst dad in the world. That kind of deadbeat dad that fucks off for 10 months at a time before remembering she exists and sending a birthday card with the wrong age. But when he does come back around for a bit she just thinks he's so cool and awesome and spoils her rotten and those rose tinted glasses are staying glued to her face well into her teenage years.

Always has plenty of pictures of her in his wallet though, seems genuinely surprised each year that his baby keeps growing up (what the hell, she was four last time, what do you mean she's starting kindergarten next week, stop letting her get bigger--). He wants to be there for all of the fun milestones but not actually make an effort in long term raising.

It's funny because for an investigative journalist and dedicated stalker, he really doesn't know much about his own kid (which means she's happy to fill in all the gaps for him!!). I think it's because he disassociates from parenthood entirely, only snapping back after the come down from his latest reign of terror as Ghostface, when he's no longer in the mindset of whatever alias he was living as. Then, whoops, oh yeah, better go check on the baby and see if unicorns are still her favorite animal.

Absolute spitting image of him by the way. Little ray of sunshine skipping around him and tugging his hand and telling him about a kid that pushed her at recess whose mom then mysteriously disappeared a week later...

I really like that AU concept where survivors and killers enter trials in their dreams. I think it would be fun to kinda play with this concept in the rewrite of deadline a bit… although I don’t think it would be necessarily that the trials are actually happening as dreams—I view it more as a premonition or a funky stress dream to make Danny and Sam sweat a bit when/if they recognize each other in a dream.

Had the thought of Danny's ghostface mask talking to him like the green goblin and I nearly coughed up a lung laughing. I thought you might find it amusing

So I actually misread this and thought it was refering to Jim Carrey’s The Mask— but honestly Green Goblin would also be hilarious…

Trying to find a good gif of the mask using the search was surprisingly hard. But YES you are correct, I do find this very funny to think about regardless of which green weirdo it is.

In the case of goblin, we get Willem Dafoe doing all his stunts at 60 which is… incredibly sexy. Based on my age headcanon for him Danny would be basically the same age nowadays, one would hope he would be at peak physical fitness still if he didn’t get entity snatched…
