With a reader who brings home an animal: Artist, Claudette, Shape

Artist

Carmina isn't much of an animal person.

It isn't to say she doesn't like animals.

They just, aren't her thing.

So the care is going to be left up to you.

She would have been fine with just about any animal you brought home.

Except a cat.

When she was alive, a cat wouldn't have been a big deal.

But now that she's no longer human, and also kind of part crow, it's more of a problem.

You know, cats chase birds and all.

The crow part of her wants nothing to do with the cat.

If anything, she purposely avoids it.

Anytime that goes near her she moves far away.

It's almost as if she's doing it on instinct.

However, when the cat isn't doing anything, she's perfectly fine with it.

If anything, it makes a great painting subject.

Cats are naturally fairly lazy, so they're great to paint.

She doesn't have many muses in the realm, so this is a nice change of pace from just painting rocks and trees.

She loves painting you, don't get her wrong.

But a good artist paints many different things.

Occasionally, you can find the two hanging out together when she needs a lazy moment.

The two will just sit there in silence, enjoying the peace.

It isn't much, but when it does happen it's very cute and peaceful.

Claudette Moral

Claudette isn't much of a pet person.

It isn't as if she doesn't like animals, she likes them plenty.

She just never had any desire to own a pet.

Also, what if it's something that eats her plants?

She couldn't have an animal that would eat her plants!

If anything, her plants were her pets.

And she wouldn't want to put them in danger.

So when you brought home a tarantula she was apprehensive.

Until she realized that the tarantula could help her plants as well.

The tarantula could eat the bugs, and her plants would be happy.

It's a win-win.

And, to be honest, she prefers bugs to fluffy creatures anyways.

She always had.

Playing with your eight legged companion reminds her of her childhood when she used to play with pill bugs.

Those were the good parts of her childhood, the part she wants to remember.

She talks to it often too.

"Okay, I need you to guard this plant right here. I think there have been some aphids and I need you to take care of them, okay?"

Like she's giving it instructions.

It's even brought Claudette out of her shell a little bit.

It's giving her the confidence to go out and talk to more people.

However, she holds the tarantula in her hands when she tries to talk to new people.

And, unfortunately, it can be kind of a turn-off for some.

She nearly caused white to faint when she showed her tarantula to him.

But, a more confident and happy Claudette is one of the sweetest things you will ever see.

Shape

Michael never had a pet.

He spent most of his childhood up to his adult life in the asylum.

Occasionally, people would bring around therapy dogs. But that was it.

And he was rarely allowed near them considering his violent nature.

The only other interaction he's had with animals is police dogs. And those typically aren't too friendly to him.

There can only be one other reason you brought an animal home. Food.

He thinks it's going to be dinner.

You're going to need to watch this dog like a hawk.

Because if you turn your back, Michael might have it on a chopping board ready to cut it up.

You're really going to have to sit down and explain to him that no, you will not be eating this dog.

It's going to be like showing a toddler how to pet a dog properly.

You're going to need a lot of time and patience.

And, to be honest, Michael exudes a terrifying aura. This dog will more than likely not like him at first.

But, with time, the two will learn to tolerate each other.

Maybe, if you're lucky, they'll become decent friends.

However, it's good for Michael to learn some responsibility.

Learning to take care of something might make him a better person.

Probably not.

But you can try.

You might find him one day passed out on the couch, the dog asleep on his stomach.

Take a picture, because it won't happen often.

It's the little moments like this that make Michael seem more human.

Headcanons based on My DBD Ships:

Trigger warning: mentions of self harm.

HuntBird (Huntress x Kate Denson)

Kate is always making little tunes for Anna. Anna likes it when her bird sings for her.

Anna likes it Kate cooks; Kate… doesn’t always like when Anna cooks because it makes her a little sick. She gently explained this to Anna.

Clown is never allowed near Kate unless he wants a hatchet thrown at him. (That’s Anna’s woman dammit.)

Anna is very possessive of Kate. Territorial almost.

Plays The song her mother saying to her as a child when Anna is having trouble sleeping/is having a bad day. If Kate is having a bad day, Anna brings her gifts.

Aceslinger (Ace x Caleb Quinn/Deathslinger)

Ace and Caleb are the old men of the group, One’s joyful, one’s cranky, and Caleb hates it when that’s pointed out to him.

Both have collectively adopted Nea. She’s their kid now.

Ace claims to be the big spoon, but he knows damn well he’s a small spoon.

Caleb makes a mean steak. Ace make some mean Milanesa a Caballo. (An Argentina recipe involving fried beef/chicken with fried eggs on top often served with fries on the side) (Hope I described it correctly, )

Both to poker together, but Ace knows better than to cheat when Caleb’s winning. He doesn’t want to die.

Ace did try to cut himself, because he felt like he was worthless and Nea and Caleb would be better off without him. Caleb did not leave his side for the next few weeks after saving him, and knocking some sense into Ace.

Despite Ace’s charm, the Frisky Tango does not happen often. When it does, Caleb calls the shots. Not that Ace complains.

If Ace has a bad day, he’s allowed to have a drink. If Caleb has had a bad day, he gets extra cuddles and kisses. There’s a system and the men follow it well.

HillFlower (Hillbilly x Claudette)

(I’m calling it HillFlower because honestly that’s a cute name and I think it’s very fitting.)

Claudette often makes pies for everyone, however she noticed Max only stole her apple pies so she made a second pie and pointed out which one was for him, and which one was for the others. This has not stopped him from stealing her pies, but he appreciates the attempts.

Claudette Does regular optional therapy with Max.

Never raises her voice at him. She’s gentle when she speaks to him.

She stopped Max from hitting himself with a brick several times.

He often hurts anyone else who enters the barn without Claudette. If they’re with Claudette, they’re safe… for now.

Claudette Stims a lot, and Hillbilly is fascinated by it.

If Hillbilly has a bad day, he just hangs around Claudette a bit and he feels better. If Claudette has a bad day, he makes her food.

???(Haddie x Tarhos Kovacs/The Knight)

(I… genuinely… don’t know what to call this ship to be honest)

Haddie is allowed to do whatever she wants, but if she gets hurt on the job, Tarhos lectures The Dredge and tells them to be nicer to her.

Haddie is allowed to speak to Vittorio, but only while the knight/his crew are present. It is not that he doesn’t trust Haddie, it is that he doesn’t trust the noble.

The crew often make sure Haddie is healthy. They know if she’s sick, Tarhos will lose his shit slowly while he takes care of her.

Haddie is his personal barber.

The dredge is the only reason they don’t do anything risky. The Dredge is also the reason Tarhos checks the closet before Haddie sleeps.

Crowffiti (Artist x Nea Karlsson)

(This ship name is perfect.)

Artist often sketches Nea when she’s sitting and thinking.

Nea has started calling her wifey, originally to piss her off, only to find out that Artist loves being called wifey.

The crows are their babies.

Doesn’t do the frisky tango, because Artist is worried about poisoning Nea through the ink.

Nea has tried to kill herself a few times, Artist won’t let her. The first time it happened, Artist had to physically draw a small comic to explain what happened. Ace and Caleb were upset and worried about their kid.

The artist paint things, and Nea makes it brighter, while being careful around Carmina’s work.

The two are constantly drawing each other.

When Nea has a bad day, Artist draws whatever she wants. When Artist has a bad day, Nea plays with her hair and compliments her wife.

Everyone that followed me recently, thank you! Welcome! If you stumbled onto my blog because of my dbd fics, I hope you like the stuff I have in the works right now. If you stumbled onto it for a different reason, thank you for deciding to hang out!

2. Fluffy Claudette Holiday One Shot

I'm working on it and will hopefully have it done before the week is over. I was going to work on it some today, but Mondays are always the most hectic at work because I'm catching up on 4 days worth of messages and tasks.

3. Ghost Face (Danny Johnson/Jed Olsen) One Shot

I mentioned that I was going to be doing a one shot for Ghostie as an apology for being so late with the Claudette fic. I think what I'm gonna do is just write a piece that is supposed to go into a longer fic for him which I think I mentioned might be a possibility? That way it will also serve as something of a preview for it whenever I get to do it. It's not going to be an x Reader, though since the larger story deals with an OC I'm working on.

But I will be working on more x Reader stuff for him too, once I have everything else done.

4. A New Dwight One Shot

In between writing things sometimes I write other things. I was playing dbd the other night with a friend and we were talking about which cosmetics we like for our survivor crushes (he's thirsty for David and obviously I've got it bad for Dweet lol) and then I decided to write a really self indulgent smutty Dwight x Reader because I'm a loose cannon and can't be stopped. That one will post in between the Claudette fic and the Ghost Face one.

5. Opening Requests????????

This one is gonna be a little longer.

I've mentioned that this is something I've thought about doing for a bit and I'd really like to at least try. I'm hoping to do this sometime before the month is out, but if that doesn't happen, it'll be sometime before mid February. I have some stuff going on in early February so if I can't have that all done by the end of January, it only makes sense to hold off until I'm totally in the clear. And I want to wait until the 3 things I mentioned above are finished and posted, too.

The biggest hurdle right now is writing up my rules and stuff because I'm trying to format it in a way that looks OK to me. It's more for my staticky brain than it is for actual aesthetics and I'm trying to do it in a way that my mind won't hate when I look at it.

Also I'm trying to figure out how to word everything because I've tried to start a post in my drafts, but nothing sounds right. And I eventually want to write for other fandoms and not just dbd, so I'm going to be doing individual posts on each fandom to link into that at some point when it becomes relevant.

Still, I might simply make a side blog for the other stuff since this one is pretty heavy into dbd now.

I guess that's it for now. I'll keep you all updated on stuff as I go. Thanks for taking interest in my silly fanfics xD.

(Haha. I do gotta say tho Anon, if you want a body pillow for DbD, please consider getting a custom one instead. I think you’d actually like it much better! The rest was meant to be under a cut but tumblr is the dumbest shit site coding wise & I made this on mobile, which will not allow you to add read mores anymore. In past this has been no problem bc I can just save as a draft & edit + post on my laptop or edit the second I post & throw in a read-more but apparently now if you make a post on mobile you can never edit it in desktop again. : ) I love that. So fucking much! But this is going to be long now & I physically cannot fix that bc it also won’t let me swap it to html now it’s posted : ) : ) : ) fuck this site : ) —anyway! On a brighter note, here’s my pitch:

Okay! So to start.

First up. Let’s look at what the devs are offering you.

Here are the official body pillows. Now, these aren’t the worst pictures of Anna and David I’ve ever seen, but they’re not great. David’s in his default queue pose, I got no idea wtf Anna’s doing, and neither of them have interesting, good, or attractive poses, lighting, expressions, or detail. Considering this is decently funded company with multiple artists on staff and full body 3D adjustable rendered models of Anna & David on every computer there, it’s lazy as hell. It’s not even as good art as their official sketches or character renders or promo art. They know how to do the work:

They’re just being lazy.

Okay, though, but you really want a body pillow, so what to do? Well, maybe it’ll be cheap enough you don’t care about the quality too much. So, how much will this cost you? For me to ship to myself in the us with the cheapest shipping option, Anna would cost me $80.

Okay, so. That sucks. But you really want this and what else can you do? There’s nothing else to pick.

OH WAIT. Yes there is! So here’s some actually good news for ya 💪

If you want a custom body pillow, you have two options: 1, buy a custom pillow case and a pillow separately, or 2, buy a custom pillow with the image on the pillow print itself. Now, you can get the second option, but it is exponentially more expensive. I’ve seen maybe 60something-70 as the cheapest option for this, although I didn’t spend a ton of time looking. Still, if you want to go full hog, it’s possible. If you don’t mind a pillowcase/the cheaper option, though, (and many pillow cases are custom to the exact specified pillow size and aren’t really noticeable at all), it’s a good deal. For example: A body pillow can be bought at many stores for about 15 bucks. There is some variance in pricing for size, shape, and material, but here I’d like to add the official DbD site doesn’t even list dimensions for their body pillow, let alone material. So, for me to get what I want if I wanted this, I could buy a $15 pillow at a store, and then a pillowcase from a place that I could get it custom made & delivered, IE price + shipping is $30 from here https://www.etsy.com/listing/653983430/custom-21-x-60-zipper-body-pillowcase?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=custom+body+pillow&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&bes=1

So we’re at about $45 right now. (eBay offers cheaper custom pillowcase options but I didn’t want to try to vet sellers for quality & reliability making this post & this is a good price).

This leaves about $35 to commission an artist for something to put on the pillow case. Now, price for commission varies greatly from artist to artist, and full body is the most expensive base option for a single subject, but there’s definitely people offering really freaking incredible commissions at this price, and sometimes even lower. Even though their art should really be worth more than that. Unfortunately, we artists gotta eat. And a lot of the people who buy commissions are also young adults who gotta eat and don’t have a ton of cash. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So there’s a lot of people who’d be genuinely very happy to be paid for that commission even though it kinda sucks we be there. And if you want to commission someone more expensive, sure you’ll be spending more on the body pillow than DbD officials $80ish. But uh. Would you rather give the same devs who picked the most racist Claudette design they could put into the game for the most recent costume contest $80 for one of these:

The fan artists do better work—I mean think of how amazing a pillow could look if your heart cries for one. Vs the low-grade renders the devs be offering. They do so much better it’s like a “Look at your body pillow. Now look at the body pillow the devs told you not to worry about” meme it truly is. TBH, you could screenshot a DbD store screen with Anna or David, edit out the BG in photoshop, and already have a better 3D image than the official offering. 😂 And with an artist? 👌 Mmmmm. Anyway, haha. There was my in-depth pitch to buy from fans instead of official. I was just very motivated to *Robin Williams Genie voice* Illuminate the possibilities! I hope it may have given you inspiration for something even more beautiful than what you thought your heart desired :’-)

i keep getting distracted but here i wanna spill it out so.. dbd post entity au!

not really sure on how the entity works here but i just kinda think the entity gets bored one day or just fucking disappears and causes everyone to return to the real world. they get thrown into 2020 and stay the same age they were when they were thrown into the entity’s realm. licensed characters also just stay in the “real” world & they all just live in a little town together.. there’s some other people in the town but they’re all just vibin!

dwight and claudette are dating! dwight works in retail (sadly) and claudette is an enviromental scientist! they have a huge backyard where they keep a greenhouse where claudette got dwight into botany! they usually end up adopting rather old animals to keep them both company!

meg & evan are living together! meg sees evan as a father figure so they just kinda connect. evan works at a hardware store and meg wants to be a star athlete, but is currently volunteering at the local animal shelter tapp & bill run!

jake, feng, and herman all live together and are just bffs! feng is a popular twitch streamer, jake will not disclose his job for some reason, and herman studies criminology & psychology. herman and feng are very competitive over minor things and jake is usually the judge. in feng’s streams herman and jake will come in sometimes and interrupt.

laurie and michael talk after leaving the realm and michael kinda realizes.. killing bad. he wants to be a good big brother to laurie and tries to make up for it by giving laurie and her girlfriends nancy & nea a place to stay. michael is a librarian and learned sign language from nancy so he doesnt have to talk but can still communicate with others. nancy is working under zarina as her apprentice, laurie works at a daycare, and nea works with dwight. danny also lives there and is a journalist and had quit trying to harm people because the girls and michael wanted him to go to therapy and cuz michael threatened to report him to the police if he tried hurting anyone. he acts like the annoying little brother despite being the oldest in the house.

ace, bill, and tapp are all dating and live together! tapp quit the police force cuz acab and opened up an animal shelter with bill! ace quit his gambling habits to keep tapp and bill safe and is a job hopper since he cant really work at one job for long.

amanda and sally are dating and own a house and look after quentin and steve who are dating too!! quentin reminds amanda of daniel from saw 2 so she connected with him and since amanda connected with him quentin kinda connected with her back and they’ve been close ever since! sally is a nurse at a local hospital and amanda works on robotics. quentin wants to become a therapist and steve wants to be a star quarter back.

kate and adam are roommates and best friends! adam went back to teaching and kate is often on tour but always comes back home to visit everyone!

jeff and jane **the killerz** are dating.......... jane got to return to her talk show and does it for a living! jeff is still a freelance artist and managed to somehow find his dog before he was thrown into the entity’s realm cuz i want a happy ending for jeff and his dog!!! they both also just adopted frank/julie/susie/joey and they live with them too.. julie & susie are dating too :]
