I mean really Everlark had to be endgame, because who would get Haymitch in the divorce? And Gale as a stepdad would've never really taken.

Lucy Gray is free. No, she’s lost, gone.
Tumblr media
I know we all want her to be free. She’s surely free from Coriolanus but being forced to live in exile is far away from freedom. Lucy Gray could never come back to 12 and reunite with her family. It would be too dangerous.
I’ve seen people who claimed Lucy Gray Baird was the only victor who got to experience peaceful life after the Games. Even if she escaped totalitarian regime, being banished without possibility to ever return to your beloved ones is nothing like the Life of a Victor…
There is a corelation to Wordsworth’s poem. Young Lucy Gray got lost in the forest. She was all alone, living only by herself - just like TBOSAS heroine. We don’t know her faith, only the loneliness accompaning her in the woods.
Freedom means being able to decide for yourself and Lucy Gray was forced to run away. If she never did, she’d be arested by the mayor or worse- by Capitol. A choice between survival and death is no choice at all.
Moreover, not only her persona was „imprisoned” but also her art. Any musical performances were prohibited (in D12) and Hanging Tree went on a black list.
The memory of Lucy Gray faded over the years. Yet, this oblivion was the closest to freedom.

gale is afraid of thunderstorms: it started as a child when he had a bad night as a child. he may hate storms, but enjoys the rain. cuz he thinks the rain cleans the world, removing all the coal n smoke from his home district.
katniss has pretty handwriting. i thought about after her n peeta were adding to her family’s old book: he drew and she wrote. this is in contrast to peeta’s handwriting. his is blocky and all capitalised. it’s okay, but can get very messy very quickly
peeta is really good at braiding and doing ppls hair. he braids katniss’ hair and styles his daughters hair for school
madge’s paternal grandma was from the seam- or at least mostly. her dad is described as having dark hair- something no-native towns people have. (this might be a slight stretch if things!)
gales best friend is thom. they were childhood best friends and very very close. they are the most loyal of friends and try incredibly hard to protect/care for the other. gale may be katniss’ closes friend, but he never does call her HIS best friend (more like hunting partners). and i always thought he called his family and thom is his best friends
peeta is a lot like his mum. he has her mannerism and particular actions, but looks quite close to his father. his favourite person is his eldest brother, who always tried to sneak him some nicer bread when their mum went out of the house.
katniss is skilled with the violin/fiddle. she took it up after the war, since it has a bow and all that. she also hangs out with johanna and tried to learn how to do wood crafting and that. especially making bow and bird houses, just like her dad.
gale is a very skilled dancer. like he would often go to parties and do their traditional seam/town/d12 dances. he does it with his mum Hazelle to bring her some joy since he can’t buy her anything nice.
madge is also a very good dancer. But it’s more that she had to learn to, due to having all the Capitol citizens and having to attend banquets. i also think that she gets many gifts from them: dresses, ribbons and jewellery from her guest as a small gift. that’s why she had many things, not cuz her father can afford it but more so as a gift from the Capitol citizens
since all victors need a talent, I always imagine finnicks was poetry and johanna’s is wood carving. Finnick writes sonnets about annie to be incognito about his devotion. johanna makes carvings of her family and loved one. even fallen tributes too. annie’s would be something artistic too, possibly like jewellery making or crocheting since it requires tying lots of knots.
annie’s dad was a pearl farmer/merchant. she also had the a slightest valley girl accent: not annoying but it’s more endearing and sweet. like a Cher from clueless
johanna’s favourite holiday is/was Xmas. n since she lost her family, she doesn’t celebrate it as much. but she smtimes does make a yule log and sprinkles around pine cones after they went. though now after, she makes it more celebratory and does it with annie and mini-Finn. she gives him the most present, even when annie protest and tell her not to spoil him

hello its me #1 wiress lover. I'd adore any thoughts on d3 ocs if you have them? My personal headcanon is that 3, 6 and sometimes 5 often ally in the games due to their somewhat similar trades. But I'd like your thoughts too bc youre like, my go to blog for d6 and just underrated victors overall
Ahh thank you so much.
uhm I do not have too many D3 OCs that I have developed overly well, but you can have some.
I headcanon their first Victor won somewhere between 18th-21st games and was a young girl that won in an abandon mall arena. D3 alongside D1 and D12 are the only Districts were they're first Victor was a woman.
I also headcanon the one Victor Katniss mentioned that got a 3 as a training score was from D3, his name is Xander. Him and Beetee are close and he almost volunteered for him for the Third Quell, but Beetee talked him out of it (Mostly because he knew that the plan needed him the most so yeah).
Also like the idea that he is one of the few Victors that managed to escape the Victor's purge so yeah :)
Also like the 3,5,6 solidarity headcanon, can definitely see it based on industry alone. Also headcanon that 6 and 8 also have some sort of solidarity because I imagine they're both the most urbanised Districts, so can also imagine 3 fitting into that as well.
Have drawn this drawing of the D3 tributes from one of my fics, so can have that

Does anyone ever think about D12’s water supply? Where does it come from? Is it filtered?
When learning about fracking in school I learnt about how the water is contaminated with the chemicals being pumped to draw out the water from fissures, is there a similar case with mining? Does coal dust, as it is ever, line their pipes or is it minerals like copper that can help make water cleaner. Are their chemicals in their water? Why do they have it running freely? It is stated that Katniss and her family survived on water and mint leaves, which to me gives the impression water is free flowing.
To what extent do the Capitol dehumanise the population of D12. They starve them, extra food shippings wouldn’t be too hard to allow into the district alongside ingredients like the Mellark bakery have. They force them into mines which target your lungs. They are deemed as hopeless when reaped. They aren’t entertaining which is all the Capitol want so wouldn’t it be easier to slowly eliminate the district by cutting off the water supply? Where on earth do you find a supply where you can transport water from, Katniss’s lake? No, too far. Why hasn’t it become a bad memory like they could so easily do, like Snow does with noncompliant Victor’s families? Is Snow still somewhat smitten over Lucy Gray? Does he feel like he owes her something? Does he feel even a hint of remorse? Because I really understand that it should be easy to get rid of them and their memory and everything they stood for?
Also what’s coal used for? In a fic I read they had hydroelectric dams, in the films they gave hydroelectric dams, that can sustain a population if they were to cut off other electricity use in different districts, which they wouldn’t be opposed to let’s be real. Capitol citizens wouldn’t want that dirt in their home. They’d have a fake fire like a good half of us have. Perhaps it’s to fuel other district like 8, working in factories like they do with unsafe fuel combustion. In Five that’s likely where the combustion takes place, the hazardous fossil fuel burning polluting their skies? But there are many other renewable resources that we are still discovering today (I understand it was written over ten years ago, let’s be real, if it was written today, there would be fracking not coal mining) that an entire district could be dividely dedicated, perhaps creating class differences like in 12.
What do the Merchants do for the district? Only they can afford what they sell, they don’t contribute to the exported workforce. Most of the reaping slips are from Seam per their teserae, is it to spark interest when one, Peeta, is reaped? The Seam, backbone of the district, hardly need them, Greasy Sae for example. It would create a stronger sense of community which may be a problem when trying to be presented as ‘savages’.
And this all brings me to the question; how long was the bombing planned for? Maybe it’s just because of Katniss being a big fuck you to the Capitol or maybe it’s because it’s delayed due to sentimental reasons? What about when Snow visits Katniss in her house, how did he journey through the District, how did he feel being back?
Did the series dehumanise Snow in the way he dehumanised the district?

Okay so because Jena Malone made a TikTok video to respond to the question of what makeup was worn for the Pride & Prejudice movie, I came up with a crack au idea that I shared on discord with friends for post-mockingjay (Finnick lives ofc). It was me telling them my thoughts on how the victors probably all wanted to live privately away from the spotlight even though people like Plutarch wanted them to continue having public personas (like when he asked Katniss to sing for a show)
But what if Johanna Mason one day out of boredom and annoyance decided to do some behind the scenes reveals, just unhinged stuff and she like broadcasts this live and Plutarch has no idea how she’s streaming it. It’s Beetee ofc.
Johanna: oh you wanna know why you never saw me shit? Oh it wasn’t Capitol censorship. You see bears when they hibernate they eat a whole bunch of stuff to clog themselves up before hand and—
Plutarch: make it stop make it stop make it stop
Beetee: I’m gonna need a while to fix it. I did my job too well when I gave her access
Johanna: —and I was 17 of course I didn’t want anyone to see me shitting on national television and then someone sneaking up behind me to kill me while I was doing my business
Haymitch watching with Katniss and Peeta in D12: I should have asked Blight (most likely her mentor) more questions when he was alive
Finnick: pls pls someone be recording this somewhere
Annie: genius. I was too stressed to think about needing to go I just held it in most of the time
Johanna hearing about that later: you held it in for how many days??
Annie: pretty sure the first time I peed that whole time was during the flood
Finnick would try to be supportive with head pats but he’s slowly losing it. Boys had it easier when it came to relieving themselves and he was her mentor so he knew she struggled T^T
But also
Finnick: The real reason the Career pack exists is so we can use the facilities and not be killed with our dicks out
Enobaria just agrees with what he says for the laughs
And honestly I wonder about the bathroom situation cuz Katniss mentions one time that her urine is brown from dehydration in THG but in CF there is not a single mention of any of them needing to use the bathroom
I’m going to assume they were all peeing in the salt lake whenever they were swimming in it
Dr. Aurelius is probably so fed up with the victors at some point cuz they decide to meme their own lives and laugh through the pain

Haymitch, for all of his flaws, started a generational change that rippled out.
He didn't have much he could do to protect Katniss and Peeta from going into the Games, from Snow, from the Quell, or the war, but he wasn't going to let them lose each other. He knew what that was like, losing an ally (Maysilee) and a love ("my girl") and he might not be able to save them from all the Capitol put them through, but he pulled out every wile and connection and every minute of semi-sobriety he had in him to help his kids have a better life with each other, to not be alone and miserable like he was.
And how in turn Katniss and Peeta of course can't protect their kids from the pain of life, from their parents' nightmares, from the history they have to learn, from the worry it might happen again, but they built a life of full bellies and safety and love for them, so that in turn their children can have a better life, too.

In your AU, does Lucy Gray have to be a mentor to the future generations of D12 tributes? If yes, how do people react to that? Cause I could easily see the accusations of favoritism/rigging that could generate if anyone from 12 ever started doing really good. How would that all work?
There’s actually a fic that dealt w this exact issue n i loved it SOOOOOO much, made me want to pull my intestines out of my belly button n swing. It’s v toxic not much fluff if at all lmao but check it out!
I still haven’t decided if LG should be a mentor bc like you said there could be accusations of favoritism but if that ever did happen I think it’s like an open secret that CS will kill anyone who slanders LG, if not to protect her as his wife but bc LG disrespect=CS disrespect, that’s HIS wife. On the other hand, her not being a mentor could also be seen as another form of favoritism bc she doesn’t have to deal w the trauma of “guiding” kids who were once in her place and are most likely going to end up dead days after meeting them. I think it could work if the mentorship program starts w the 11th victor, w the first 10 being except bc…. Reasons. Also the whereabouts of the first 10 victors are unknown right? minus LG ofc. Yeah i think ill go w that LMAO, LG won’t be a mentor not bc of favoritism, but bc the first 10 get to be exempt. Now as to how LG feels abt that, i think it would be so traumatizing for her to get involved, but also. It would eat her up not to help. I rly think the fic i linked dealt w it so much better than i ever could so yeee here’s the link again https://archiveofourown.org/works/51952198/chapters/131373604

Peeta’s and Katniss’ roles reversed Part 2
(Well, yes, that topic is still very much on my mind and I want to start writing this soon)
So... if Peeta’s and Katniss’ roles were reversed in Mockingjay and Peeta is the one who gets rescued from the arena and not Katniss, another thing I can’t stop thinking about is who is he stuck with in D13.
No matter who got saved or not from the arena, the Capitol would still taking it out on D12 to set an example and to punish the star-crossed lovers. Gale would still see the warning signs and start evacuating people. Still a lot of people would not react fast enough and therefore be left in D12, when the bombing starts. Peeta’s family would be among them and therefore be dead.
There he is, alive and somehow well, in D13. His family is gone, Katniss is in the Capitol and he is stuck with... sober Haymitch, crying Finnick and... raging Gale. Well, of course, there would be Prim, Mrs. Everdeen and Delly, but let’s focus on the male characters first.
Peeta, very much like Katniss, would definitely attack Haymitch, just not physically like she did, more like with words filled with spite and rage. “You promised me to safe her! You owed me this!” Uhm, and that’s still on the nicer end of things he would say to Haymitch. So, I’ll guess, they won’t be spending much time together at first in D13.
Finnick is still devastated about losing Annie, but Peeta can so hardcore relate to what Finnick is feeling and what he is going through, they would quickly become friends. Maybe even getting a room together, while Katniss and Annie are still in the Capitol. (Similar to Johanna and Katniss) They would be tying knots together and console each other during their breakdowns.
But because Peeta is approached by Coin to be the face of the revolution, it’s safe to say, at this point, Katniss is the only thing, he lives for. If she hadn’t saved him in the first Hunger Games and then was left behind in the Quell, he would not be standing here. He knows that. And we all read how tough he was, when it came to protecting her before the Quell, while she was still there. Just imagine him going absolutely feral and becoming a bad-ass motherfucker, while still remaining a good and decent person. (And yes, I very much believe this is possible, just say one word and I will elaborate the shit out of this one)
Therefore Peeta is forced to leave Finnick be Finnick for a while and start doing something to get Katniss and Annie back. (And Johanna and the other remaining Victors). And guess who is the most concerned about Katniss’ rescue and is also in a more important position in the rebellion?
Right, it’s Gale. And they would fight a lot. I mean, Katniss already picked every possible fight with Gale, and they were best friends at that time. I guess with Peeta it would have been similar or worse.
Gale would act very childish and bitter, because he saw the Quell, right? The beach scene, the goodbye kiss... Uhm, he is going to be jealous. Even if he doesn’t want to let it out on Peeta, he still has all that pent up anger with no way to go. (other than planning to kill civilians, lmao)
And Peeta on the other and could not leave some thing unsaid. Not about Katniss, actually, everybody knows his stance on this topic, but Peeta would be disgusted beyond compare, when learning about Gale’s war pinterest board with Beetee.
However, they both have the same goal in mind, so they would find a way to work together, even though it might take a while, since both have very different approaches handling stressful situations. They wouldn’t hate each other, but they are not going to become friends either.

The Victors of the Hunger Games
So when I get obsessed with a new thing, I literally need to know everything about it, even if that means making shit up. Thankfully, that means I can produce some decent, accurate content, so here that is! I made a list of all of the “known” Hunger Games victors. The canon ones are bolded, but the rest of them are named based on their district (I got the name inspiration from this naming guide).
Huge credits to @one-mopeyboi for this idea!
I know that canonically Districts 1 and 2 have the best chance of having a lot of Victors, so I made sure that was represented, as well as when the career programs began (I have a headcanon that after the career programs were implemented, Districts 1 and 2 went on a winning streak for years). This is similar to District 4, though I think that their “career system” is hugely different than the first two districts, so they probably had fewer victors. I included statistics at the end (how many victors came from each district, genders, ages, etc..).
During the first ten games, even though District 2 didn’t have a career program, I think they still had a lot of victors due to them being the defense and masonry district -- possible peacekeepers-in-training could have been reaped, or just kids who grew up around weapons and fighting. That’s why they appear so much in the first ten years, even though the first ten years were so disorganized!
I also gave some of my favs last names based on my interpretation of their characters, much like Suzanne Collins put a lot of time and effort into naming other characters! I’ll explain their last names when they come up!
A lot of canon victors had a range in which they could have won their games, so take any victor marked with an asterisk (*) is an up for interpretation -- add or subtract five years from their set date in this list and you should still be in the ballpark in which they won their games. Also, the ages at which they won their games are speculated and headcanons mostly, so do with those what you wish!

Enobaria Calypso / D2 / F15 (Calypso means hidden or concealed -- as an Enobaria lover who definitely sees past the whole “brutal” teeth thing, I definitely think that she has a lot of hidden rage towards the Capitol, even though people in District 2 notoriously side with the Capitol. Not only this, but she was seen running with Finnick during the breaking of the arena in Catching Fire, which I definitely interpret as she was either secretly working with Finnick or had some type of solidarity with him to be able to not attack him while running -- meaning she hid this tolerability from her district and the Capitol. I could make an entire post about Enobaria, but I’ll leave it at that.)
Gloss Mirat / D1 / M18 (Mirat means mirror -- Gloss and Cashmere were mirrors of each other -- two siblings going into the games seperately, then immensly regretting it as soon as they won for the same or different reasons. Then, they had to reenter the game together, knowing that one or both of them would die in the arena, but showing the Capitol excitement, anyway, because that is was District 1 taught them to do. They mirror each other and what their district wants them to be.)

Uughhhh your everlark art. Love it so much :D Please share your headcanon or story?!? Thank you.....
Ohoh, well if you insist...hold on to your butts, it's gonna get technical.
I've seen some discussion about whether Peeta's prosthetic is permanent or removable. Personally I think that it IS removable because:
1. You can't stick implants in bones that are still growing. The recommended age for osseointegration is 18+, because otherwise there's every chance the bone will just, like. Push it out.
2. He's described in CF as lacking coordination and struggling to keep up with The Gang which is more common with the classic socket models.
3. Honestly I don't think Snow would see it as worth the cost. Implants are expensive and require a lot of rehab after surgery. If he was a solo victor then he might be worth the investment (bc who'd pay for damaged goods? To be clear this is NOT my opinion, but the Capitol's - they're obsessed with aesthetics after all.) Also he wouldn't have a support system to help him through it - his family basically ignores him when he comes back.
So I think that Peeta likely has a stump and removable leg. It's probably overdesigned and far too ornate to be comfortable OR useful, and he'll get all the symptoms and side effects associated with it. At least all of his clothes now are Capitol made so they're prosthetic friendly.
BUT. Then the revolution happens. Again I don't think Snow cares long-term about his welfare (obvs lmao) so they probably just slap a leg on him with the medical equivalent of super glue and send him off to murder Katniss and/or die trying.
When he gets caught in The Fire the prosthetic melts onto his leg and damages even more tissue. During reconstruction he's given the implant instead, because a doctor finally wants this boy to live past his teens. That's why it takes him longer to return to D12 - in addition to the therapy he's also got rehab. The leg/foot is still removable, but there's fewer side effects and overall it's far more comfortable (it's also waterproof, so bring on the cute lake scenes!)
This is the version featured in my pic :)
Also any non-Capitol made clothes he just cuts the left leg off bc who can be bothered dealing with that first thing in the morning. Katniss sews fur-lined stump warmers for the winter to cover the exposed skin. She also makes him a little leather cap for the implant when he takes his leg off at night, bc it is Not Fun getting whacked with a titanium pole when trying to sleep (I imagine he's a twitchy sleeper post-MJ)

hello i saw your reblog so i’m here to bother you with questions!! do you have any thoughts on district 9/what life was like there during the original trilogy?
YES I DO!!!! im gonna break this down into sections because it's gonna be a LONG post (sorry in advance)
daily life:
district nine is the third poorest district of panem, with each person taking out approximately 4-5 tesserae each year. this means that their living conditions aren't necessarily the best.
most houses tend to be situated close to where jobs are done, with children choosing a trade to work in and eventually moving/building a house to where that trade is located. the main trades are farming, grain transport and mill work. there are other trades, though, inherited from parent to child such as bread making and alcohol production. the houses are very hut-like and are predominately made out of wood, which is quite inconvenient considering that the extreme heat causes fires quite regularly but wood is the cheapest material they can afford.
the food in the poorer part of district nine mainly consists of grain ration (tesserae) and things that are grown/scavenged from the land like wild onions, chives and such and things they trade with peacekeepers/people who live in town which is technically illegal but everyone turns a blind eye to it. though, starving is quite common among the poorer people of district nine. the richer upper-class tends to live in the main (and only) town, where the reaping happens. their diet consists of more expensive things like honey, some forms of meat and bought vegetables/fruits.
hunger games:
i personally headcanon district nine to have four victors (one deceased by the time of the 3rd quarter quell), here are their names:
- anona ryan who won the 20th games (deceased before quarter quell)
- angus flaxon who won the 39th games
- ceres miller who won the 46th games
- thérèse "thea" vaughn who won the 68th games
district nine didn't do the best in the hunger games, but not nearly as bad as some other districts such as twelve, six and eight. children in district nine start their profession at the age of thirteen, but have school trips and lessons to teach them how to farm grain before that.
they excel at scythe and sickle work and occasionally use pitchforks, which could be useful in the hunger games. they also know a vast range of knowledge about the grain they farm, and about food in general which could also come to use. they tend to be physically lean and can carry quite alot due to their profession, but tend to be on the smaller side due to their district being the third poorest.
culture:
district nine is a very musical district, which values bars and taverns and places like the hob for people to perform in. there will always be a singer and multiple dancers on the stage who also know gymnastics. it's more performance-based than say the covey in district twelve. those sorts of things boost morale among citizens of district nine, since their jobs are so rigorous. the love of music tends to come from the mockingjays, which exist in district nine as well as eleven and twelve.
there are also many festivals celebrated in district nine, such as harvest festival and new year. those are mainly celebrated by wearing the best clothes they own, having a day off of school and going to a performance where they honor the harvest.
weddings are also very important, with newlyweds weaving wheat into eachothers hair to signify their bond. there are lots of other rituals like this (similar to the setting the bread on fire in d12) that district nine citizens perform during other holidays such as birthdays or summer festival.
district nine's people tend to wear practical, but subtly colorful clothing during the day when at work, but when they are at home or if they perform they wear colorful skirts/clothing. they tend to make most of their clothing themselves, usually using the crochet technique.
sorry for the long rant, im definitely sure i missed something so i may add on to it later <3
