“—But as her body decayed in the riverbeds her spirit lingered, driven by a thirst for vengeance; so there she lurks, always waiting. Beware of the river! For she claims the souls of any foolishly lost kits, helplessly blind in the search of her own.”
Here’s a revisit to an older post where I explored the concept of Warriors villains featuring within kits tales/clan folklore.
Mapleshade is a good choice for this because there’s an easy cautionary tale of “don’t go near the river kids or you’ll get eaten” and she offers an opportunity for different versions between clans. I imagine Thunderclan’s version focuses more on the forbidden love and the crime of killing her own clanmates cursing her to become a venomous snake (or something similar)

“Graypool had been very ill afterward. Mudfur and Brambleberry had taken turns to sit with the ailing queen and now she was finally strong enough to leave the camp from time to time, ranging out over the frozen river and yowling her heartbreak out loud”
