Collision, part 1
Tumblr media
The Avengers x OFC, Peter Parker x OFC
Warning: tragedy, ptsd, language
A/N: This is a series commission for @geesshoku ! Want a commission, go here
Summary: Angelica Morgan was 14 years old when a single collision had changed her world forever. Now, 19 and an Avenger, she is just trying to live her life. Will help from a new face and her new family, finally get her to let go of the past or will everything come crashing down?
Part 1 Part 2
She stood there screaming, blood dripped from her forehead where a piece of the roof had hit her. Eyes foggy with tears as she closed them, not wanting to see the scene that was in front of her.
Her parents, her little brother and two best friends.
Dead.
Yet, she was alive somehow.
The museum's alarms blared in the background as she felt a pulsing energy run through her body, her head jerked back and eyes lit up with a roaring blue spark. It lasted merely seconds and then she was normal again, except she wasn’t.
Slowly, her eyes crept open, coming face to face with a metal man. He hovered a few feet off the ground and held up a hand to her, bringing it down when he noticed she was just a kid.
His feet hit the floor and he touched his helmet, revealing his face.
“Hey kid, don’t worry, you’re fine now. I’m here to save you.”
Tears fell from her eyes and she shook her head. “They’re dead. My family, my friends.”
“It’s okay, kid. I’m Iron-Man and I got you.”
She didn’t fight when he picked her up, but her eyes lingered down to the people she loved the most and when they landed on the face of her little brother, her body screamed.
“Angelica! Angelica! It’s okay!”
Bucky’s voice jerked the young woman from her nightmare, body was cold and her eyes burned. He sat on the edge of her bed, wearing a white tank top and gray sweats. Bucky pulled her away from the pillow she had gripped to and held her against his chest. Running fingers through her hair, he spoke softly.
“It was a nightmare, doll. You’re fine, you’re home.”
“Buck,” she cried out, clinging to his shirt. “I saw him again, all of them.”
“It was just a nightmare, okay? Just a nightmare,” he chanted, pressing a kiss onto her head.
She pulled away from him and collapsed back onto her bed, cold sweat on her forehead and a heavy heart in her chest. The nightmares came less frequently over the years, but still, they haunted her.
“Want some water?”
“I’m good, I’m just going to try to get some sleep,” Angelica murmured, pressing a hand against the man’s forearm.
Getting up from the bed, Bucky nodded and started toward the door, but she called out to him.
“I mean, since you’re here and all,” she smiled patting the spot next to her.
The man groaned and shook his head. “You’re going to kill me. Go to sleep, punk.”
Angelica watched as Buck closed the door behind him and she pressed her head into the pillow, looking up at the ceiling.
It had been five years since her life had changed. It was suppose to be a fun day, summer was out and that month she turned 14. Her parents, brother and two best friends had gone out to the Museum of Modern Art, planning for lunch and a movie after, but things had gone differently. Tony explained it to her right after the accident, after he had brought her to the Avenger’s Tower. The Tesseract, a sentient being, had woken up after the New York incident and found her. Why it had chosen her, Angelica never could understand, but there was one thing she knew. The collision between the cosmic cube and her, had caused the explosion. In other words, it killed everyone she ever loved.
“Shit,” she muttered, realizing she couldn’t go back to sleep. So she got up and went to the bathroom, letting the cold water run from the bathroom faucet. Bringing her face down, Angelica splashed the water against her face and looked up at the mirror. Her red hair was wild around her face, so she gathered it up in a low bun and sighed.
“Whoa,” Tony blurted out as Angelica walked into his lab. It had been six months since the accident and the billionaire, along with the rest of the Avengers, had “adopted” her in an odd turn of events.
“What,” she bellowed back, settling across from him, tossing her backpack on the table.
Tony pointed a wrench in her direction and watched his words as he spoke. “The hair, it’s..different.”
“Tess likes it, I like it, get over it,” Angelica sassed, taking out her physics book. “Can I do homework in here? Steve’s being really overbearing right now. He’s having a fit about my hair.”
“Well, it’s dramatic,” Tony argued with a scoff. “And yeah, just give him a break. Mr. Perfect Teeth isn’t worried about the hair, it’s Tess.”
Rolling her eyes, Angelica started her homework, bobbing her head to the music Tony was playing while he worked. It had taken a few months of adjustments and hours of therapy, but Angelica was feeling at home in the Tower.
Tony had became the father figure, who didn’t really mind the adolescent angst Angelica threw at him. Nat and Bucky had helped her with Tess, the alter ego that came from the cosmic cube. They trained her in between regular school classes, combat and stealth mode skills. Thor and Loki would come around as often as possible, the former more worried about the effects the Tesseract had on the young girl and the latter, wanting to train a fellow partner in crime. And Steve Rogers, well he was the worry wart. He wanted Angelica to enjoy childhood as long as possible, trying to get her to suppress Tess, at least for a few more years. He meant well, but when Angelica’s hair had changed on it’s own, he was afraid it meant Tess would take over.
“Tony,” she whispered out, not looking up from the textbook.
“Huh?” He responded, looking over at her with fondness in his eyes.
“Talk to Steve for me.”  Angelica looked up from her book and gave the man a soft smile. “Tess isn’t bad, she’s a part of me and she respects me. He needs to stop worrying.”
Tony stopped what he was doing and nodded. “You got it, kiddo.”
Angelica left her room and walked down the hall, making her way to the elevators that lead to Tony’s lab. Five years, it had been five years since she started living at the Tower and sometimes that life, the one she had before, seemed a lifetime away. She had trained hard and when Steve had given her that birthday card on her 18th birthday that said she was now an official Avengers, all the pain and trauma she carried, had washed away - mostly.
“Why am I not surprised you’re up, old man?”
Tony rolled his eyes as Angelica waltzed into his lab. He watched as she messed with an old reactor he had on the table and he sighed.
“Nightmare?”
“Yup,” she stated drumming her fingers against the device.
“Haven’t had one in months, that might be a good sign,” he offered with a shrug.
Angelica laughed and placed the reactor down. “I think so too, so what are you doing up, pops?”
“Jesus, don’t call me that. It makes me feel my age,” he glared at her before breaking into a smile.
“What is your age again?” Angelica asked innocently, tapping a finger against her chin. “Somewhere around old enough to have a 19 year old daughter?”
“Kid, you’re a pain in my ass,” Tony snorted, thinking of a way to take the subject off his age. “So, did Barnes run into your room like the hero he’s not?”
“Shut up,” Angelica chuckled, moving around the table to the man. “But yeah, he woke me up and then refused the invitation to sleep with me.”
“Okay - that’s enough,” Tony muttered with disapproval and annoyance in his dark eyes. He moved next to her and the two leaned against the table, hands folded across their chest in a similar fashion.
“What? I’m a healthy sexual young woman,” Angelica protested.
“Leave the man alone, for fucksakes. And you’re like my kid, so no inviting men into your bed, under my roof,” he chastised, moving a hand around her shoulder to pull her into his side.
“That’s pretty sexist, pops.” Angelica looked up at him with false anger, but he saw through it, because he knew her well enough.
“I say the same thing to all my horrible children,” Tony pointed out with a smirk and the two laughed. He waved a hand in the air and sighed. “Anyway, get some rest. We have a mission tomorrow morning.”
Angelica leaned up and pressed a kiss onto Tony’s cheek, making the older man grin. “Sounds good, everyone’s going?”
Tony looked down at the redhead and smiled. “We have a newbie I want you to meet, but you gotta promise not to fall in love with him.”
Angelica snorted and rolled her eyes. “Listen, if I fall in love with this newbie, I’ll give you twenty bucks.”
“Deal,” the billionaire grinned, cocking his eyebrow up. “His name is Peter. Peter Parker.”
