I watched the portuguese dub of eclipse lake earlier today and i got some physic damage watching it

Its not bad, but god theres some bad stuff there

So ill start with a cute thingy that was there. When Luz sings to the echo mouse, it got translated to "window, little window, door, doorbell" (janela, janelinha, porta, campainha), which basically is a little song thing that is a way to say eye, eye, mouth, nose. Its so cute!

Eda called amity sargent instead of bossy boots/boots, and also she says "ah, how this guy is fun/s"

"a bad boy, but also sad" fair translation of that.

They changed Owl beast to evil owl fjsndnfnfn

"namorada incrível" 💜💜💜 pretty direct translation but it sounds just as cute 💜💜💜

Now i will ramble about the voice acting itself below the cut, if anyone is curious.

For starters, Belos sounds really weird. His voice is quite deep compared to the original fjdndndn and he talked very rushedly at the cold open. He doesnt really have any discernable accent. Obviously not a british one, i dont even know how you could do that outside of english. If he does, it does sound a little like in the original but not much.

And Hunter...theres a lot to unpack there. First of all, he sounds like a loser. Yes, he is a loser in english too but he doesnt sound like a loser. In portuguese he has a bit of the steriotypical loser voice quite some times. His voice is flat almost all the time (its a problem on a lot of the characters in S2 but with him its very noticeable), like, both him saying to amity that he won't run away and when he talks about how the veins repell magic have the same tone and volume.

The tamagochi talk, the grave digging bit and the threat were actually pretty nice, they sounded good. But the BYEEE? Desgrace. Also the "then give me that key" was really not the right emotion and entonation for the scene. It sounded more like he was trying to reach something he almost could grab but couldn't. He didn't scream it.

His voice also isnt as distinguishable as the one Zeno does. It lacks the squeaky and crack. A lot of the other voices also lack the squeak and higher pitching and raising the volume in certain moments.

Philip's voice was actually quite nice, which is ironic since Belos voice is bad imo.

Eda's voice was pretty good, as it has always been. Its actually pretty close to the english one! My favorite delivery of the episode was her going "i think not!" Before breaking the fool's blood. Also harpy eda voice ♥️♥️♥️ king and hooty (or also known as corujito. Btw owlbert is corujoão) were some of the best even though they dont sound that similar to in english, specially king. Luz's is ehhh it goes a little weird sometimes but it is still pretty luz even if not really like the voice Sarah does for her.

Amity's voice has always been kinda dead but it got some emotion there, its better than what they did with Hunter.

KIKI SOUNDS SO YOUNG. SHE SOUNDS LIKE SHE'S AROUND THE HEXSQUAD'S AGES ALMOST. WHERE'S THE RASPINESS IN HER VOICE? Pretty good though.

So yeah that's my first time actually watching something from S2 in portuguese fjsndndn i chose eclipse lake because i almost watched it in portuguese some other day and i physically cringed at Belos' voice, but out of curiosity i ended up actually watching in pt-br today

Tudo começa quando nosso protagonista, o suricato albino e seu melhor amigo corujito são derrubados por uma ventania muito forte e vão parar longe de casa. O suricato albino arruma uma tocha e dá na cara do lobo mau, enquanto corujito vaga pelo vale das sombras. RNG é cruel para quem não é protagonista. Suricato evolui a tocha para um sabre de luz, fica amigo do sapo cururu, de outros suricatos, do macaco mestre de kung fu, um calango bisbilhoteiro, um urso soneca, uma aranha de mau homor e toda a demais fauna descolada da floresta. Tirando os maninhos de quatro braços e três olhos. Esse aí não são fauna não.

Rolam aventuras, tudo muito bonito, muito agradável. Parece Hollow Knight com menos talento. E mesmo não parecendo isso é um elogio. E aí aparece a corujona traumatizada com sua armadura emocional que faz ela parecer um monstro. Ela é a antagonista. E não, para ela não tem redenção porque "tem aqueles que escolhem o caminho das sombras." Oh no. Empatia? Não. Aceitação? Não. Quem tá torto, torto fica. Sem segunda chance, parece até Big Brother Brasil. Vai procurar o colo dos seus pais mortos enquanto os bons vivem a boa via. Urg. Acho que o final desse jogo me deu azia.

I don’t think I can really explain hooty’s name in portuguese but i’ll try because i love it and i actually cant call hooty by hooty out loud because of the dub fdskdsfnndjfn

Hooty turns into Corujito, which is kinda like saying Owley, basically owl + a diminutive, an endearing one in this case (i think.), so coruja + ito, corujito

And as a bonus Corujoão (Owlbert) is just mashing owl (coruja) with joão (john. ehhh john doesnt really capture the vibe joão has dfnjdfnjf)

Which i think is quite funny because it almost sounds like corujão (big owl) but hooty gets a name with a diminutive in it, so hooty is big but has a diminutive name and owlbert is small but has a name that sounds like it has an augmentative name ndfndfj
