We left Junon a couple of days ago; there was a problem with the airship and - to everybody's surprise - we ended up having to walk from Fort Condor to the docks! On one hand, the absolute incompetence of our maintenance staff astounds me yet again. On the other, it was nice to be outdoors. Good to take in the air, get a fight or two in. Scarlet insisted on using a new materia she'd been forging - it was impressive. Nice to see her excited; I think she quite liked the trek (despite her dress getting ruined!)

It did make the mind wonder; had me considering taking her around Junon, showing her the village below (though, I doubt we'd be welcomed). I used to fish there with my father, made me think about showing her the route. That would be odd though, wouldn't it? We're colleagues, anyway.

Still, there was a moment I can't quite clear from my mind. She landed in my arms after we'd been startled by a rogue Nerosuferoth. Bloody thing almost gave me a heart attack. But never mind that, the thing is - she stayed in my arms for a little longer than I think either of us knew what to do with.

All I could do was look back in her eyes and run a hand over her hair. Gods, it's embarrassing to write. For a second, I treated her not as a colleague or a friend but instead as some sort of lover! It was a nice moment. I'm almost disappointed that nothing more came of it.

Still, I'm sure she just felt out of her depth! She's probably never scored with a man like myself! Sorry Scarlet, maybe another day? ;-)
