OPEN CALL FOR DEL RIO TRAIL PORTRAIT SERIES
The Del Rio Trail is a 4.8-mile inner-city paved trail that would run through and connect neighborhoods of the Land Park, South Land Park, Freeport Manor, Z’Berg, Pocket and Meadowview, and Freeport Boulevard. The Del Rio trail would provide a paved and safer pathway for transportation, improve connection to local schools, jobs, retailers, and neighborhoods, and provide opportunities for residents to live an active and healthy lifestyle.
Utilizing portraiture and interviews, I aim to create a portrait series of how Sacramento residents living around and near the Del Rio Trail would utilize and benefit from its completion. They will include and not be limited to cyclists, pedestrians, runners, walkers, dog walkers, commuters, business owners, students, families, community members with a disability, elderlies, nature lovers, and environmentalists.
My portrait series will convey that Del Rio Trail helps improve the quality of life, promote equity, and provide access to art and culture, recreation areas, and green spaces for members of our community. One of my goals is to highlight, represent, and celebrate diversity and promote understanding and empathy. The diversity of people in my photographs would also highlight the importance of the Del Rio Trail in bridging people together regardless of age, occupation, ethnic and cultural background, and socio-economic class. Ultimately, the completion of the Del Rio Trail helps foster solidarity and strengthens a sense of community.
If you are interested in being a part of this Portrait series please reach out to me. The portrait session will take place in the morning or late afternoon outside of your home or at a determined location near the trail. I will do my best to accommodate your schedule and availability and the process will take around 30 minutes. In exchange for your time and participation, I will provide an 8x10 framed picture and polaroids.
On June 7th, there will be a public exhibition at the Twisted Track Gallery on displaying all the artist's work including this portrait series.
