Unravel Two
Tumblr media
How many players? 1 to 2 What console(s) is it available on? PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PC
Up until now, every game I’ve reviewed has been very exaggerated and animated with cartoon art (with the exception of Rock of Ages II, whatever that is). That changes with Unravel Two, a far more sombre affair with realistic graphics where you play as a pair of Yarnies, yarn dolls rendered so realistically that you could practically feel their very fibres if you touched the screen (although please don’t; there are enough fingerprints on it already).
Tumblr media
The central gameplay mechanic around which all else revolves is the thread that connects each Yarny. With it, you can loop around objects in the environment, tether to objects, swing like Spider-Man, make bridges and trampolines, lift up your partner, and generally do everything you can to solve puzzles and keep going right until you can’t no more, you beautiful grandma’s gift, you!
Tumblr media
With the sombre tone and realistic graphics comes an emotional and heartfelt story about… actually, I don’t really know. I played through the game with my mum and we had no clue what was going on. The most we could figure out was that there were two kids running. Given the heartbreaking violin playing, they were probably running from as opposed to towards something. Music was great, though, much like the graphics. In general, my mum and I had plenty of fun solving the challenging puzzles when she wasn’t failing to swing across a gap ten times in a row.

Evil V Evil |PlayTest Beta
Tumblr media
EvilVEvil is a vampire game that is coming soon! It is only closed beta as of now so only certain people can get into it for the play test and let me tell you it is worth it. You are vampires, hunting cultist that have corrupted and are making baby vampires that are born cultist that are pretty much trying to kill you.
You’re vampire powers allows you to feed on and kill the enemies. Feeding allows you to get your health back which is nice so you don’t have to go around searching for med-kits, there is always health around you unless you bite the guys with the glowing blue shields and then you loose more health than gain.
Each vampire has different perks that allows you to do different things.
You get guns also that you can change out once you level up. There are different weapon mods you can also get leveling up. The vampire you are playing also gets different perks which is sweet.
One gun allows you to kill and destroy anything blue which is called solar energy and the other allows you to purge and kill things. You eventually get a solar energy rifle you can switch out for the pistol. If I was you, I kind of prefer the pistol due to the rifles rounds feels like one at time and the pistol was little faster.
This game is going to be a co-op game which is nice. It is fun when you get another person to play it. You can always jump in an open lobby if you find one but it will be in random game so I suggest you to play it first.
This game has a story mode to it which is nice and walks you through what happened and what is going on.
There are missions and puzzles in this game on each round but they are not to hard pretty simple as long as you know how to dash and teleport to where you need to go.

Day 429
The past long weekend had been a weekend full of games. Not Baldur’s Gate 3, sometimes you just want something you can do in a session or finish in a day. Also if it fits into the Halloween mood this month there are bonus points. Were-Ah and I like to play co-op games, but because we don’t play shooter games, the games we tend to play are puzzle games.
Games that involve a lot of talking over voice chat tend to be the norm.
The We Were Here developers had recently released for free (for a limited time) their game The Friendship, which Were-Ah and I immediately downloaded in hopes of playing it together. Now we’ve played the first We Were Here game and have been mildly traumatized by it. It didn’t help that back then I was on an older computer, on an older set up so the voice chat back then didn’t work, also we couldn’t get the sound to work. So we couldn’t get the last puzzle, but the reason why we didn’t go back to the series wasn’t because we couldn’t get the last puzzle. It was because the last puzzle involved a timer, in which a creepy plague doctor puppet slowly started getting closer and closer to me as we desperately tried to get the trapdoor to open on the stage.
Very scary, so we assumed (probably rightly so) that their games are kind of scary.
But The Friendship was free and we just had to try.
Again, we couldn’t get the in game voice chat to work properly, but the audio worked this time! It was probably just as well we used Steam’s voice chat to talk this time instead of the walkie talkies in game because we needed every advantage we could get. We were terrible, it took us at least a dozen times to even get a bronze ticket on the first task, in which we were both sure that our boat was going to sink at the end.
But it was still fun and it was amazing to see how much the game series has improved. The Friendship is supposed to be a shorter game than their usual, but frankly it’s incredible for a ‘short game’ with wonderful cutscenes, set dressing and they got voice acting, it was great. I hope we can give this one another go sometime.

I'm just so thoroughly pleased that Remnant 2 feels like the result of the studio looking back on the first one and learning lessons. The whole experience feels much more polished and refined and so much more fun to play. I love the exploration and side content, the new biomes are completely mesmerizing. I mean come on, one that feels like an Alien movie and the other is Bloodborne, two of my favourite things smashed into one game.
The whole experience is also just half as frustrating as the first game. The Archetype system is interesting when paired with the trait system. I could go on, but I have so much love for this studio.
I truly felt like the first game was a real pet project and these people loved what they were making and it shone through and I just adored it for what it was. And they've just managed to take what they learned and do it better while giving me more.
Please check out Remnant 2, it is utterly inspired and feels like it was crafted with love. It's a real gem and it has co-op!

Two-player puzzle adventure game BOKURA will leave Early Access and launch for Switch, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android on August 10, publisher Kodansha and developer Tokoronyori announced.
Here is an overview of the game, via Kodansha:
About
This is a two-player only puzzle adventure game. It is a two-player game played on two devices. Although it is a cooperative game, what you see on the screens of both players is completely different.
For example, although they should be looking at the same person, to one it looks like a storybook animal character, while to the other it looks like a robot. (The difference in perception causes the objects on the field to work differently in each world.) Players share what only they can see with their partner through conversation. They continue their journey by cooperating to solve riddles and puzzles. Players can also play online while talking to each other at a distance.
The basic game system is a side-scrolling puzzle adventure with a two-player cooperative element. During the course of the story, players are faced with a number of critical choices. Depending on the choices made, the story will unfold in several different ways.
Story
Two boys who ran away from home discover a “dead deer” on their journey.
Seeing it, they faint and everything they see in each other’s eyes becomes different.
One is the world of animals, the other is the world of machines. The boys must unravel the mystery that happened to them.
Can they return to their original world?
Key Features
The main difference between this game and other games is that you need a partner to play with.
You cannot play this game alone or against the computer (CPU).
Two players are always required.
In other words, this game starts by deciding “Who will you play with?” The game starts with the decision of “who to play with.”
The total playing time is about three to four hours. During that time, the two players discuss with each other and reconcile their perceptions, solve problems, and make critical decisions

SnipperClips: Cut it out, together!
Tumblr media
How many players? 1 to 2 What console(s) is it available on? Nintendo Switch
Whenever a new console comes out, new games always come with it to demonstrate its capabilities. For the Nintendo Switch, one such game was SnipperClips; as the Switch comes with a Joy-Con controller that can be separated into left and right halves, the co-op possibilities couldn’t be more obvious.
Tumblr media
You play as Snip and Clip, two tab-looking things that look more suspiciously cheeky than kindergarteners who break out into giggles with no provocation as they come out of the bathroom. Both characters possess two abilities: rotating with satisfying clicking sounds like reeling in a fishing line, and cutting holes in each other with the shapes of their own bodies. Using these abilities, you work together to solve puzzles from filling in outlines to transporting items across levels and more.
Tumblr media
SnipperClips overflows with arts-and-crafts charm like LittleBigPlanet but is more energetic than cosy. Snip and Clip, even as they never speak a word, are two of the most expressive video game characters in recent memory. They giggle and pull an almost endless supply of exaggerated faces as they press switches, carry fish, and squat down so the other can jump on top of them to reach a balloon on the ceiling.
Tumblr media
The unique gameplay features demand extremely creative solutions that always feel satisfying to pull off, which is also reflected in the cheerful Snip and Clip. It’s a blast to play with a friend or a family member and it’s the best game that the Nintendo Switch could be bundled with. Get it and take a cut at it, together.

HELLDIVERS 2 (2024, Arrowhead Game Studios)
I'm loving it so far. Fighting bugs reminds me a lot of EDF and Starship Troopers, while fighting the Automatons reminds me of the future war scenes in Terminator.
I've uploaded a Toggle HUD mod if anyone wants it: https://www.nexusmods.com/helldivers2/mods/1
