A body was found Monday by authorities searching for billionaire heiress and Memphis, Tennessee, teacher Eliza Fletcher after she went missing while out for an early morning jog on Friday.

There was a heavy police presence for hours in South Memphis roughly 2 miles from an apartment complex where Cleotha Abston, the 38-year-old suspect, was seen “behaving oddly” and cleaning the interior of an SUV tied to the abduction case, an affidavit made public by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said, according to local reports.

Investigators searching for missing Memphis heiress Eliza Fletcher say they have found a body after carrying out a search of a wooded area near the home of suspect Cleotha Abston.

Memphis Police have not yet identified the remains.

Ms Fletcher, a 34-year-old mother-of-two, was last seen at around 4am on Friday when she was violently abducted while jogging near the University of Memphis campus, police say.

Police charged Abston, 38, with especially aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence on Sunday and he is being held on $500,000 bond. He was expected to appear in court on Tuesday morning.

On Monday, officers from the Memphis Police Department were spotted on all-terrain vehicles searching a wooded area in south Memphis, about two miles from Abston’s home, according to WREG3.

Police say they identified Abston as a suspect after finding DNA on a pair of slider sandals that were found at the scene of the struggle.

Ms Fletcher, the granddaughter of the billionaire founder of the Memphis hardware business Orgill, remains missing four days on from her disappearance. Her family has offered $50,000 for her return.

Alicia Franklin, 22, in a bombshell interview, said that if sex crimes investigators had done their jobs properly, #ElizaFletcher, who was kidnapped and killed while jogging through Memphis on Sept 2 could still be alive. 'They had more than enough evidence to get him off the street.” Cleotha Abston-Henderson, 38, is now charged with raping Franklin nearly a year ago -- but the charges were not filed until after he was arrested and charged with the murder of Fletcher. Henderson pleaded not guilty to the murder but has not yet answered the rape charges. While DNA evidence from Fletcher's abduction was tested within hours, the rape kit in Franklin's case sat on a shelf for months, and she says police failed to take basic steps such as gathering fingerprints after she was violently assaulted. In Sept 2021, Franklin says she met a man she only knew as 'Cleo' through the online dating app Plenty Of Fish, and agreed to meet him in a large apt complex in southeast Memphis. His invitation had originally been to meet for dinner at Olive Garden, but when Franklin said her car was riding on a spare tire and she didn't want to drive that far, they agreed to meet at what he said was his apt. But when she arrived, she says Henderson held a gun to her neck and led her inside one of the apartments, which appeared to be empty & under renovation. There, he blindfolded her with a T-shirt and led her to a Dodge Charger, where he assaulted her, and then took her back into the apartment. It was a terrifying ordeal that she did not expect to survive. After the assault, Franklin immediately reported he crime and went to a rape crisis center when evidence was collected. Franklin says police failed to fingerprint her phone, and dropped the ball on a vital clue -- the address of the apartment where the attack occurred.
