YESSSS ABSOLUTELY!!! My two fav vampires. I've seen the WWDITS movie over 20 times I love Viago sm!! I'd say Claude has very similar mannerisms to him just more exaggerated and eccentric!

Last song: Flamme by Juliette Armanet [X] Spotify shuffled it at me, not really sure what she’s singing about but I love a bit of disco

Currently watching: I've been bingeing Seinfeld. I'd seen the odd episode here or there but wasn’t particularly taken with it before - maybe it's just hitting me at the right moment but I'm finding it very witty and well-written. Also just started the new series of WWDITS.

Currently reading: Trouble for Lucia, the last Mapp & Lucia book by EF Benson. I've been reading one every summer for the past six years. Now I'm not sure whether to try the later Mapp & Lucia books that were written by different authors, or replace it with another light comedy series to read annually. Maybe Jeeves & Wooster? Previously I read one Jane Austen every summer. I like having a long-term reading project like that. After this I’m going to read In Memoriam by Alice Winn.

Current obsession: I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with anything right now - been snowed under at work and too busy to get into anything new - but I’ve been thinking a lot about adopting my new cat in about six weeks, hoping it goes ahead and goes well (and arguing about what to call her)

You come down pretty hard on the wwdits show for supposedly being anti-Black, even though you haven’t seen the whole show (and your takes on S1/S2 are kinda confusing to me). Here’s my non-white opinion. The show could definitely have more Black representation, you’re right! But your suggestion that the two Black mosquito hunters are somehow racist depictions because they’re not perfect people is pretty unfair, IMO, especially in wwdits where everyone is shitty/incompetent/weird. In general none of the Black characters in wwdits are stereotypes, and between Derek, Claude, Contessa Carmilla, and Black members of the werewolf pack, wwdits represents a wide variety of Black characters who are allowed to be as larger than life as some of the non-Black characters. Derek actually comes back as a vampire in S3 and is pretty fan beloved. I also want to point out that the co-showrunner is Stefani Robinson (also known for Atlanta), a young Black woman who puts the magic into the show and has written some of its best episodes. Wwdits can do better with Black representation as can 90% of shows but it is not really an anti-Black program.

I didn't think I came down hard. I just had a lot of thoughts.

I have seen the whole show. Like a previous anon mentioned, I did forget that Derek comes back in Season 3. My bad. I personally don't like the character (and since I'm not in fandom didn't realize/know he is a fan favorite) but I did acknowledge that I was wrong and he does grow in Season 3.

I wasn't trying to say they were racist depictions just that I wanted to see more Black representation but also better representation. Like I was disappointed that the mosquito people are never mentioned again aside from Derek. And idk I thought there would be more black vampires (that's specifically what I wanted, and also a recurring black vampire/human/character that interacted with the main group daily) besides Blade, but if I forgot people like you mentioned then my apologies. I wasn't getting the content I wanted, and it was wrong of me to label the show.

And thanks for telling me about Stefani Robinson, I didn't know that. That's really cool!

There are a few things I think/hope might come back up later in wwdits

1) The Baron: When Laszlo poured blood on him during his burial, his eyes opened and looked around. Plus, when the vamps are initially talking about potentially killing him, Nandor questions if it's even possible for The Baron to die. Both of these instances could be potential foreshadowing for his eventual return

2) Jenna: she kinda disappeared after Citizenship, and the last we heard of her was from Shanice, who also apparently hasn't seen her since about then. I just think it would be nice to have an update on how shes doing. And speaking of Shanice...

3) Mosquito Hunters: these guys were an excellent part of Guillermo's vampire hunting development in s2, but we havent seen them since Derek's death at the hands of the Hustle Dynasty. It's possible they split up and swore off vampire hunting after this traumatic experience, but theres no way to know for sure, and it could prove interesting for Guillermo to run into them again (especiallyif hes in the presence of the vamps, or if Guillermo himself is post turn).

4) Evie and emotional vampires in general: we know that Colin Robinson is looking into the origin and creation of energy vampires, and that emotional vampires are a particularly powerful subset of of energy vamps. Its possible that in his quest for knowledge he may reach out to other energy vamps, such as Evie and see if they have any information to offer him.

5) Jim the Vampire: do I think we'll actually see him again? Not really. But we do know that hes now aware that Laszlo has once again swindled him, so theres a chance he'll show back up

And finally, the person I am both most excited to see again and most convinced will eventually return-

6) Gregor/Jeff the Ghost: Last we saw Jeff, he had tried to convince Nadja to help him with his unfinished business, but she refused to even let him tell her what that business is. Personally, I'm convinced that his unfinished business is to murder (and possibly specifically to decapitate) Laszlo - if I'm right, then he'll have to show back up eventually
