Kgfsfgjhg I can't believe you started an angst fest on here- Anyway, Magnus + regret? 🥰

1. I didn’t really like the moustache phase in 2020. But it was a bad year for all of us, so I gave you a free pass. 

Magnus bit his pen between his teeth and pondered seriously. 

2. You never put enough sugar in my coffee. But you always kiss me after you give me my mug. So I never complained.

It was a little hard. But he knew Max was watching him.

3. Your ugly sweaters might not be...entirely ugly. They are okay-ish.

4. Do you remember that one time when the kids spilled glitter on your jeans? Well, it might not have been the kids...

5. Jace is not the superior Herondale. There I said it. 

It was getting a little easier to be honest. 

6. Chairman Meow has always liked you better. I just didn't want to admit it.

7. You never returned my t-shirt after our first date. I know you still have it but I never wanted it back. 

Magnus was scribbling furiously on his notebook now.

9. I once called you a ‘doubtless repellant brat’. But you were a child at the time and your parents were psychopaths so it was hardly my fault.

Max walked over to him and peered at the notebook. He grinned over Magnus’ shoulder. 

“Dr. Green will be pleased with your progress,” he kissed the top of Magnus’ head. 

Due to Max’s insistence, and magical threats, Magus had started visiting a psychologist after Alec’s passing. He had hoped to lie down horizontally on a couch and entertain the lucky woman with some tasteful stories from his past.

But it turned out that therapy had changed in the last couple of decades. Dr. Green not only made him actually talk about his feelings - that’s woman’s audacity!! - but she also gave him homework as if he were a 10 year old. 

Hence the reason Magnus was sitting in his study and frowning like a child on a school night. 

She had asked him to write ten things he wished he had told Alec when he was alive. 

“Words of regret,” she had told him. “What do you wish you had told your husband before he passed away?”

Max had sat down opposite him to make sure that Magnus completed his homework. Magnus wondered if Max and Dr. Green were in cahoots. 

“You did well, papa. You wrote all 10,” Max smiled at him now. “I told you it won't be hard. Go to sleep now.”

“Goodnight, blueberry,” Magnus smiled back and shooed his son out of his study.

He peered at the list again and picked up his pen one last time.

11. You are my heart, Alec Lightwood. I will stay unbroken for you.
