Can we all take a moment to consider what a clusterf*ck of epic proportions a Dreamling state wedding would actually be like?
You've got Michael and the Heavely Host in one corner and Lucifer and the Legions of Hell in the other. Just waiting for someone to give them reason to have at it.
You've got all the Endless present, which is its very own special bag of cats.
You've got Gods from every pantheon, who have so much personal beef with each other you've practically got a cosmic cow in the room.
Hob's invited some of his more immortal type friends. And now the vampires and werewolves look set to throw down at a moments notice.
The Fey courts are just there to bring the drama.
I mean, are they selling tickets to this thing? Cause its going to surpass any wedding GRR Martin can throw at us.
(And that's before you add in the sweet, sweet crossover potential...)
Loki/Gabriel/ Both, depending on your fandom of choice, waltzes in there, ready to be the match to this bonfire. Only to be stopped by their humans partners (Sam/Mobius?) being like...
"Chaos time yes?"
"Chaos time no!"
Crowley, Aziraphale and Johanna Constantine deciding the only way they're getting through this thing is so drunk they don't actually know they're there.
Dracula attempting, as subtlety as possible to evade Moonknight who's been invited as Khonshu's plus one.
Meanwhile, Donna Noble appears from the Tardis while the Tenth Doctor explains... "I'm representing the bridegrooms father. I have to officially give an Endless away. Don't worry, your not on your own. Jack's a bridesmaid." Cut to a very fetching Jack Harkness in the corner flirting with outrageously with the Corinthian.

I think people crush on Nick Nelson so hard because most of Heartstopper’s audience identifies way more with Charlie. But I really hope there are people who are like, “Where’s my Charlie Spring? 🥺”
Because wishing for a person who is out and proud, supports your coming out journey, is really smart and thoughtful, has badass music taste*, and built-in amazing friends is just as valid a thing to wish for as a goofy, sporty, golden-retriever partner with heart eyes.
🍃🍂🍃🍂
*you may disagree about Charlie’s taste, but I’m sorry, Charlie liking Radiohead and The Strokes matches my fantasy, sorry about it. And from the comics we know he likes Chloe Moriondo, The Vaccines, and Muse.

I made this just to gauge what people think. Is this accurate?
tumblr eras
2010: beginning of mainstream
true microblogging platform
fuckyeah! blogs
there were actual celebrities on tumblr
2012-2014: twee “tumblr girl” aesthetic and peak fandom (superwholock & homestuck)
“sides” of tumblr (i.e. “science side of tumblr, explain!” and hipster vs. fandom sides of tumblr)
I feel like viria’s and burdge’s PJO and HP art was especially big
“I like your shoelaces”
2014-2020: peak “tumblr discourse” (think Steven Universe and the rise of TERFs); kinda faded out after the kinning wars and that whole rabies thing
2015: John Green/fishingboatproceeds C*ck Monologue and end of post edits
2017-2019: peak musical theater fandom (Hamilton, Be More Chill, etc.), Voltron fandom
2018: p*rn ban and mass exit
2020: ATLA revival (fr that’s all I remember from 2020 tumblr)—jk remember November 2020? election results, Stacey Abrams, destielgate/superhell, et. al.
2021-present: collective memes that are only important on tumblr (e.g., horse plinko, it’s me i’m the ps5, slug reacts, blorbo, bug ass)
lots of general celebration of queer media (very different from early tumblr where it was all speculation and shipping)
Elon bought twitter, so kind of a new era for tumblr
also, of course, Dracula Daily

To the Nicks who will likely never see this post:
🍃🍃🍃
Most of the pre-existing Heartstopper fan base and certainly most of the fans on Tumblr are the Charlie Springs of the world. And for them, this show is about the possibility of healthy romance (i want to believe in romaaance) and creating a loving queer community.
But, gosh, I hope the Nick Nelsons of the world find this show. Now that Heartstopper is in the mainstream, I hope the people who have more marginalized identities, who never thought about being anything other than straight but for whom straight doesn’t feel *quite* right, those who deal with toxic masculinity/femininity and don’t feel like they have real friends, this show is for them as much as the Charlies.
And I hope the Nicks who watch this show seek out their Charlies, Taras, Darcys, Elles, Taos, Isaacs, etc. and find a community that loves them for who they are. And I hope one thing you Charlies, Taras, Darcys, Elles, Taos, Isaacs, etc. take from this show is to reach out. This show is so good at demonstrating how being yourself makes others want to be themselves, too!
Much love to the beautiful people on this hellsite:
💖💜💙,
💖💛💙,
🖤🤍💜,
💚🤍🖤,
💖❤️🧡💛💚💙💜,
❤️🧡🤍💗💖,

Joe Locke Appreciation
Listen I know Kit absolutely BODIED Nick Nelson but Joe Locke also absolutely killed it.
Like his nervous giggles? His chemistry with the entire friendship group? Every interaction with Tori? And he’s already portraying Charlie’s mental illness so well and subtly. That boy is killin it.

I've watched three movies today. First time since probably the last time i went to the theater with my kid sister to see Black Panther II, that i could actually chill out and enjoy a film (or three) like this. The last five months have been a straight up clusterf*ck and I'm just glad there is a sense of normalcy to my life again. Seriously, between getting “evicted”, having to stress about moving, getting “fired”, and then starting this new job, i feel like this is the first time in a long time, I've had the opportunity to just breathe. To just relax. o be honest, I'm still a ways off from actually getting back to the theater in person for proper releases, mostly trying to save for a new car and furniture right now, but we’re getting there. Hopefully by the time The Marvels drops, I'll be good to go but we’ll see. In the meantime, here’s a bullet points of the films i watched today and how i flt about them.
Renfield
Tumblr media
I liked this one. It was fun and a genuinely unique take on the Dracula myth. It plays as kind of a sequel to that old Bela Lugosi outing but it works. Like, it really works. Obviously, the star of this thing is Nic Cage’s take on the Prince of Wallachia but Holt’s Renfield was fun and i even enjoyed Awkwafina in small doses. It’s weird that she keeps getting pushed as the romantic interest to me, though. They did it in Shang-Chi and they did it in this. It’s like, there’s this romantic tension, a subtext of attraction, but they never really let that sh*t evolve. She’s just the plucky sidekick who very obviously has feelings for the protagonist but they never get together. I dunno if that’s by choice of the fact that she isn’t “classically attractive” or whatever. Personally, i think she’s gorgeous and i adore her voice so this sh*t is just bogus in my eyes but whatever. Overall, Renfield is a fun, campy, over-the-top gory, pseudo-capeflick that has a lot of heart and great fight scenes. That said, Ben Schwartz is criminally underused and the whole Lobos gang angle needed more time in order to really have weight. Still, if you have an hour and a half to kill, it’s a good watch.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie
Tumblr media
This new Mario movie is boring. I know it's "for kids" but that's not really an excuse, is it? The Lion King is for kids. Shrek is for kids. The Iron Giant is for kids. Kids films can be good. They can be entertaining. This was not. It wasn’t even a bad movie. There are things to love about this flick. Seth Green as Donkey Kong. Jack Black was excellent casting as Bowser. All of the little callbacks and easter eggs. That climax. All of that sh*t was great. Everything else was f*cking mid and i am offended that they think kids are so unsophisticated that they would just accept this mediocre sh*t. But, apparently, they did because this motherf*cker is the first billion dollar movie of the goddamn year and it ain’t even close! Like, Ant-Man III is the next highest grossing film and the motherf*cker can’t even cracked half a bil. F*cking how? Like, where was this enthusiasm for, say, Puss in Boots II? THAT sh*t was f*cking fantastic! You people should have spent your money on that because all this is saying to Hollywood is that you want derivative adaptions of existing IPs. That’s it. I want to be clear here: The Super Mario Bros. movie is not bad but ain’t ain’t good, either. It’s nothing. It’s a nothingburger of a film and the public at large should be ashamed for making it as successful as it is. Unless i get a Metroid flick out of this. Then i will suffer this billion dollar foolishness, no problem.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Tumblr media
This movie has no right to be as good as it is. Seriously, i had the best goddamn time with this thing. It is, unironically, one of the best fantasy outings i have ever seen in my life and is sitting at the top of my list of best film release this year. I was shocked by how dope this movie turned out to be. Seriously, there is just so much to like in this thing. From the adherence to the lore, the DnD easter eggs, detailed world-building, and accurate class attributes. I didn’t think this movie could cover so much ground and keep me interested but it did just that. The performances, from top to bottom, were fantastic. There was real chemistry among this actors and it made this film all the better for it. Look, I'm old as f*ck, right? i can say, with all certainty, that the DND film franchise was a joke until Honor dropped. Some of the worst movies i have ever seen were DND adaptions. Hell, even that old Eighties cartoon was dog sh*t. Not this movie, though. This thing was brilliant!

I would just like to clear, I don't hate the BBC Dracula 2020 Show. In fact, I actually like the idea of Dracula being set in modern times like in the show, but I would like it a lot better if it wasn't written like a fucking reader insert fanfiction.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some reader inserts every once in a while but they're meant to be on Wattpad. Sometimes, you can find really fucking good fanfictions that could genuinly be movies, but this really just feels like someone wrote an erotic fanfiction for Dracula. It almost reminds me of a worse version of 50 Shades of Grey with less kinky sex.
First and foremost Agatha Van Hesling. I actually kinda liked her personality, how driven she was and determined to never give up, but she was literally created for a love interest. In Dracula by Bram Stocker, Sister Agatha is a nun that nurses Jonathan back to health, claiming he was 'sick in the head' as he ranted of what he had seen and warning others of Dracula. She doesn't even have a last name.
However there is a Dr. Van Hesling in the book, hes dutch(???) Professor that mentors and taught(????) Jack Seward who was in love with Lucy, who was fed off of and eventually killed and eventually undead by the means of the one and only Dracula. Dr Van Hesling plays a large role in the plot of the book. He has an open mind and was able to draw connections between things that some others couldn't, as he had access to more sources and could speak to most off the charecters involved. He's the first person to present the idea of a vampire, and Lucy turning into one. Thanks to Jonathan he was able to identify the vampire feeding on Lucy as Dracula and finds out how to kill the vampires.
So basically Agatha was literally fabricataed for the sole perpose of being there, to fall in love with Dracula or something.
I know we all are horny for Dracula. I'm horny for Dracula. Vampires are fucking hot but the sexiest part of vampires is that they ya know. Kill you and are mercily and heartless. The show does show that in a lot of parts and even decapiates a nun and yeets it into a gaggle of nuns which i fucking died at. But it also, humanizes him way to much, hes literally a monster. The scene in the boat with lord whats his name really portrayed that. It was really,,,, weird cause me being a kinky fucker I don't find the particular phrases of "you're going to need to be quiet now," and " youre doing so well" that creepy and if anything a little hot but looking at the circumstance and the look on that kids face, it was like r e a l y fucked up. Which is why i liked that scene. It showed just how fucked up Dracula is.
To be fair i did like Cleas Bangs acting and casting as Dracula. He had a certain charm that was ever so s l i g h t l y off. I heard people say he just 'made up an accent' but fuck you guys its a fucking danish accent you incolent twats anyways. He could be really funny at times and i actually apprecited it.
However the casting AND acting of the modern parts is absolute shit. Ep.3 is where i kinda gave up on the show and finsihed it for the sake of torturing myself. FIRST OF FUCKING ALL LUCY i cannot fathom how P I S S E D i am about Lucy. Why did they have to make her a phone obsessed basic asshole with no regards to anyones emotions besides her own and the extent of her personality is 'getting likes on socail media is all i care about because it makes me feel validated so im gonna wallo in self pity because i was obiously written by white man in his 50s that would have made me white if he wasnt forved to throw in diversity points" like shut the fuck up steven king.
Also lucy and mina never meet??? Theyre in different fucking time lines??? Theyre friendship and love for eachother was fucking golden how dare you rob that form me and give me a garbage bag full of shit with a shiny little bow on top in its place jesus f u ck.
The cemetary scene was o k ay i gues?? I liked the little nod to the book with the bloofer lady and the concept of random sprits being undead because of unfinished buisness. But this really just felt like it was slapped in the show for the sake of going on a date with Dracula in cemetary. I actually kinda apperacted it but it just felt awkward.
Also who the f u ck is Lucy's friend? The gay one??? Like,,,, is that supposed to Arthur???? His chatecter was so fu king weird and offset he just didnt feel like he should be in there. Hes literally just there for a-50-year-old-man's-interpretation-of-young-women-now-a-days verson of Lucy to have a gay best ffriend.
Ok i not even sure if i want to talk about Quincy. It just hurts. It physically hurts me to think about how d i r t y they did my baby. His charecter is the defination of american chivalry, just as great as regular chivarly but with a little extra cowboy vibe. Quincy is jist the biggest,,,, sweet haert,, like he asked lucy to marry him in his cool american cowboy voice cause he knew lucy loved it and it always made her laugh. And even when she turned him down becayse her heart belonged to arthur, he stayed. All he wanted was for lucy to be happy and all he requested was that they stay frirnds. Hes also invovled with taking fkwn dracula although hes not a main charecter percice ly as he doesnt have any entires in the book he still has an amaizing precence and sometimes while reading the book ill be readying one of dr sewards passanges and think "huh i wonder what quncys doin. I hope hes dooin good. Cowboy vibes n stuffs" amd boy dles he do that. Everh dracula film adaptataion robs us. R O B S U S of quincy morris best scene. In the middle of dr van helsing ranting about vampires( thats basically what half of the book is. I could write a 4p minute mono louge of his rambling jesus how does sweard take note of all this) quincy litterally just walks out. And nobodg really pays any notice beside glancing ag his leave and shrugging at one anouther and going back tl listneing tl van helsing explaining his vampire fan theories quincy moris , the quincy morris from texathe untited states of the amerkca the land and the free and also cowboys.stands outside of the bouilding and pints his gun up at. Dracula whos in the shape of a fucking bat eves ddopping outside the window and just fucking,,shoots it. Now he doesnt hit it cause thatt wouldnt be as fun as brutally stabbing the fucker witja wooden stake. But S T I L L. And the fucking bullet hits the window that everybodys in anprobably causes arthur to shit himself the ppoor boy. Can you belive that theh didnt fucking flim thatfor any dracul? Now i i under stands why not put in this adaptation because quincy is only mentionsed like three god damned times. And when theh DK mention him jesusnshit they literally jsut made him some popular jock from amwrica just to conter jacks white twinky ass and then they had him propose to lucy in the middle of a fucking night club and she says yes???? Lile ok jut throw Arthur out a window then cause cause fu c k him i guess. And then after lucy dies he jjsy fucking moves ?? The only thing thta makes this version of qincy quinccy is the fu king name and fact hes from america
Ok now jack fucking seward. He reminds me of when ylu forget you had a pb&j in your back pack so in the bos after school you pull it out cause yoyr hungry and yoyr mom put WAY to much jelly on it so now its like. All obsorbed into the bread and joggy and squished. Just sad and really white. They even had some kid call him whate bread and they werent fucking wrong. His obly personality traits were ' omg i love lucy but shes a hoe ;,,,((' and being connected to Zoe.
Now last and definately least the god forbaden ending. Just thinking about it gives me a fucking head ache. So , jesus, zoe, who is agathas great niece or someshit, a d looks exactly like her (its literally the same fucking actress) is a detective lile scitist reasearching dracula. So dracula is illedatly attracted to her becasue he thinks shes like agathas reincarnation or soenshit. So he tries tk drink her blood at one point and spits it all out and pukes and sjit cause her blood is poisonous bevaise she has fucking c an c e r. So later we find out that draculas weaknesses ( the sun crucifix) arnt actually real hes just afraid of dying so he has like irration fears or some shit so for some fucking reason. They deside. Its a good iea to end the show with this:
Dracula fucking drinks all of zoes blood killing her and himself because her blood poisonus. And ghe fucking emd scene is them like,,, in the sun???? Or soemt hi ng??? And theyre naked and like presumably fucked and dracula says some shit like " its doesnt have to hurt" and i almost tore my wrist open wiith my teeth because of how shitty this ending is.
Not lnly is it disrespectful to zoe but agatha, agathas whole thing was K I L I N G. dracula she wanted him fucking D E A D she woULDNT FUCK HKM
And like just after finding out that he can be in the sunlight with out fucking dying and that crosses just make him umcomfortable or some shit he just desides to kill himself??? DUDE YOU JUST FOUND OUT YOURE PROACTICALLY MORE INVINCABLE THAN YOU WERE BEFORE AND YOU JSUT FUCKING OFF YOUR SELF ??? HE COULD HAVE FUCKING RULED ENGLAD AND SPEAD VAMPIRISM OLL LVER THE FUCKING COUNTFY AND WORLD KF HE TRIED HARD ENOUGH AND HE KILLS HIMSELF BECAUSE THEY WANTED A STUPID SAPPY ENDING
anyway if anyone actually goes through the effort of reafing my god damn eS S A Y about Dracula that i finkshed typing (im not gonna bother editing tbh) at 4 fucking am. Then thank you and please get a life

January Reading Updates
Since we’ve just reached the end of the first month of 2020, I thought I’d take some time to share with you all what I’ve been reading and also write a short review about each book (else I’ll completely forget what I read by the end of the year...) The books are listed in the order that I completed them in.
(*): Read in Vietnamese
1. American Gods - Neil Gaiman
Neil is perhaps my favorite storyteller ever, and he particularly excels in building strange yet captivating worlds that do a great job of making humans seem more human than ever, despite the fact nothing remotely conforming to the human-norm happens (except marriage problems--I suppose even gods and demi-gods are dumb motherfuckers when it comes to love.)
American Gods follows Shadow, a widower freshly released from jail as he tags alongside a suspiciously rich “Mr. Wednesday” (later revealed to be an undercover God), on a quest to convince the old, forgotten Gods of America to rise up and fight the new Gods (Technology, Media etc.) The book pulls up many characters from Irish, Norse, Hindu, Slavic, African and Egyptian folklore and so on, and offers a very refreshing take on religion in modern society. Although Gaiman didn’t dive deep into any specific culture, it’s a helpful start to continue learning about religion and folklore all over the world. There is a lot of information and I can only imagine how painstaking the research process must have been.
Tumblr media
Genre-wise, I don’t think this book fits into any at all. There’s history, fantasy, horror, maybe some thriller too. The idea of a giant war with hundreds of Gods is very ambitious, so the book does get a little messy and all-over-the-place at times. I’d call it “jigsaw-puzzling”, though, you’re given lots of information that doesn’t seem to make sense, but gradually everything comes together at the end and I absolutely love getting to the end and exclaiming “OH! So THAT’S what it was about” I find that the suspense-building in this book very well-done, too. The only criticism I have is that the ending felt a bit... lacking. You had all this build up, this gigantic feud, but everything’s resolved so simply you almost feel cheated. Or maybe I just have something against how Armageddon-type stories (where 2 sides fight to death) keep ending. Other than that, considering how hard this topic is to write about, I’m flabbergasted at how well Neil pulled it off.
Overall rating: 8/10
2. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck - Mark Manson
Everyone was raving about it so I had to give it a go. For those of you who don’t know, this is a self-help book aiming to show you how to re-purpose your life, communicate effectively and live productively. Surprisingly, it only took me 2 afternoons to finish (I always find self-help books are easier to read than fiction, don’t know why). It’s written very informally and feels more like a humorous conversation with a loving but foul-mouthed friend, which makes it easy to digest whether you’re a 10th grader being peer-pressured to apply to US Colleges or a 53-year old electrician just realising you actually wanted to be a novelist. The only requirement for the the advice to be useful is that you kind of need to mess up a lot.

However, I found that there weren’t that many new things in the book. Mostly, it just reminded us of the things we already knew but consciously (or subconsciously) decide to shove under the carpet, OR put into words things we kind of already think, but don’t know how to explain. There is, no doubt, lots of helpful advice but like all self-help books, I find it too much to remember (unless you’re going to re-read it 20 times), and when I finished, out of the dozens of pieces of advice I only remembered one, “People who make changes aren’t flashy and don’t about what they’re going to do a lot. They just do it.” And from then on I shut up about my plans and just worked on them. Everyone’s going to have their own takeaways relevant to their lives, and I’d encourage you to read it just to see if you can find anything interesting. If out of 20 things, you remember 2-3 things that work for you, that’s still a win.
What I enjoyed the most was actually reading the stories/examples of real people at the beginning of each chapter before getting into the “lecture” part.
Overall rating: 6.9/10
3. Dracula - Bram Stoker
A classic in gothic horror. I actually started reading this last year and the first third of the book telling Jonathan’s fearful stays at Count Dracula’s castle had me hooked - it’s written in beautiful, elegant language which we hardly ever hear anymore, and does such a wonderful job conveying the characters’ fears, thoughts and emotions. But the moment Jonathan leaves the castle and the book switches to other characters’ stories, it just got so long and boring that I stopped reading for 3 months altogether and forgot which character was which because there were so many men. The “dull chapters” stretch on for at least a quarter of the book, and things only get interesting again when Dracula returns to the story and certain characters start turning into vampires. The rest of the story follows the “heroes” as they try to defeat the Count and bring peace to his victims, and although many parts are suspenseful and very clever, the ending is also so easily achieved that it’s a bit of a downer.
Tumblr media
The whole book is written in diary entrees, journal entrees and letters of different characters (I’ve only read single-person diaries before) which was surprisingly pleasant in that you feel like you know the characters and by the end, you grow quite fond of them. It even inspired me to start keeping a diary again. It also made me start speaking like an old Englishman for the few days after completion, because I hadn’t really shaken off the language yet. Everyone seemed to be much more caring towards each other in those days, and through the letters I picked up some romantic phrases of which my favorite has been “And so, as you love me, and he loves me, and I love you with all the moods and tenses of the verb, I send you simply his ‘love’ instead.” Lovely, isn’t it?
Overall rating: 7/10
4. Days at Morisaki Bookstore /  Những Giấc Mơ Ở Hiệu Sách Morisaki - Satoshi Yagisawa*
I’m not sure of the popularity of this book, it seems quite lowkey but has a surprising amount of reviews on Good Reads and even has a film adaptation. I happened to find it on my bookshelf and finished it in one afternoon (it was only 150-ish pages.)
Genre-wise, I’d call it Slice of Life although I don’t know if books are even allowed to be called that, or just anime. There is generally no real plot, only character development as Takako (main character) gets dumped by her cheating boyfriend and moves into her uncle’s antique bookstore to re-charge, gradually finding herself learning to appreciate books and the people around her. It’s a very simple storyline, and there’s almost nothing very special about the main character, but maybe that’s what makes it a relaxing read - because in reality, most humans aren’t the special snowflakes and oddballs we think. Admittedly, I started off finding Takako very annoying, but as she grew through the story, I found myself empathizing with her. For me, the book is a reminder to take things slower in life, remember to recharge and learn to see the beauty in simple things around you. It had a happy ending, too. Good for lazy reads, you don’t really have to think much - just sit there with a nice cup of tea and go with the flow.
Overall rating: 7/10
5. The Oldest Parents With The Youngest Child / Những Tháng Năm Rực Rỡ - Ae-ran Kim*
I. Loved. This. Even now it’s left me with a tumble of emotions that I don’t even know how to describe, and I can say for sure that it’s made it to my list of favorite books of all time.
The story recounts the life of a 17-year-old boy with progeria (a disease that makes his body age 4x as fast as a regular person, meaning he has the body of an 80-year-old) and his parents, who had him when they were 17. It talks of the struggles of teen parents learning to cope with an unintended pregnancy, their financial and mental hardships raising a child whilst also battling his illness, and also of the main character’s steel-hard resilience and love for life despite his condition. It actually made me feel ashamed of myself for being perfectly healthy, but not being as curious and hungry to learn, and most of all, to have a perfectly functioning laptop and not be writing. Other than that, it also humanizes persons with disabilities, showing that they too can fall in love, get anxious when ghosted and want to sneakily drink alcohol despite being underaged - anything a typical 17 year old might do. After this book, for the first time in a long time I felt that every aspect of life was truly wonderful and that I was lucky to be here. I also made a list of 30 challenges to do these coming months, to understand and enjoy life more and will keep you updated on my progress.
Tumblr media
Even though the book is written from the perspective of a boy with progeria, the author herself is a perfectly healthy woman in her 40s (who did a lot of research before writing, I’m sure). Yet somehow she’s able to tell the story so vividly, convincingly and emotionally that I feel like I’m in his body, living his life and feeling his disappointment and excitement. The tone is so natural, so nonchalant it just feels like a leaf smoothly riding the breeze down the the ground. Reading this book, I’m reminded again of how powerful a tool literature is in sharing ideas, bridging humans and building empathy. I’m in awe of not just the main character for pushing through his difficulties the way he did, but also of the author for writing something so powerful it changed the way I looked at life. It makes me want to write stories like this one day, too. I just don’t know what to say about this book other than I really loved it.
Overall rating: 9/10
And that’s it for this month! I’ve only just gotten back on track with reading and remembering how fun it is. Hopefully someone will find this helpful and maybe pick up one of these books. I’ll see you guys next month!

I see people ranking the Love Death + Robots eps so here's my list 🖤❌🤖
From best to worst:
1. Sonnie's Edge
Oh dear, where do I start. Amazing animation, great story and an even greater monster fight scene. The double twist in the end won my heart. My top fave Love Death + Robots episode. I could talk about this one all day. Honestly, Sonnie's Edge should be at least an 1 hour movie.
2. Good Hunting!
I fell in love with the story and the art style fit the setting perfectly. Combining steampunk themes with magic, while exploring the effects of modernization on both humans and magical creatures was a brilliant idea.
3. Beyond the Aquila Rift
Again, awesome animation?? I loved it from start to finish (except maybe for the long and completely irrelevant to the plot sex scene😂). I see many posts about how this episode fucked people up and, to be honest, the ending did leave me a bit shaken too. However, Greta remains an intriguing character and I would have loved to see more of her. Or at least a last attempt from her part to communicate with Thom after her revelation.
4. Three Robots
This whole episode had me laughing and I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic settings. With wholesome characters, a fascinating and unique plot idea and some great comedy, this could easily make a succesful mini series. I would watch the shit out of it.
5. Shape-Shifters
Werewolves. Marine werewolves. I personally didn't really need much else to love the ep description. In addition to the very interesting concept of supernatural beings living amongst humans without always having to hide their true identity, this episode was also an amazing piece of animation. Good fight scene, and even though my heart still hurts i really enjoyed it as a whole.
6. The Secret War
For about half the ep I was sure it was a live action short film (or at least partially). Good plot and we do get closure in the end, which doesn't really apply to all the episodes of Love Death + Robots. Still one of the sad stories of the series.
7. Zima Blue
This one was deep. And can we talk about the remarkable art style?? The ending was a nice plot twist and the story left me contemplating it's meaning for some time afterwards. I mean, all that journey around the cosmos only to return to a simpler way of thinking in order to find fulfilment? The bizarre murals that depicted the universe and then, im the middle of it all, Zima's whole world? This was some really deep shit and you can't change my mind.
8. Suits
Did anyone else think the art style was similar to Sims 4? Like, that's all I could focus on until things got tough for the characters. Also a sad story, but the zoom out in the end made things more interesting. (Couldn't help thinking about the battle of Wakanda during the last scene either😁).
9. Lucky 13
Another super realistic piece of animation. I would have liked some more details about the missions and Lucky 13. We learn that ships have personalities and I hoped to see 13 and Cutter interact at least once. My mind kept coming up with different theories about what exactly happened to the 2 crews before Cutter's, and we never got answers about any of the most important things. Still, a beautiful story though.
10. Helping Hand
Ok this one fucked me up more than Beyond the Aquila Rift. It's not just the whole concept of floating in space, helpless and running out of oxygen, that I find absolutely terrifying, but also the sacrifice the poor woman had to make in order to survive. I would have taken my suit off and embraced my death the moment I would hear that help is more than 50 mins away. Seriously, that's the stuff of nightmares.
11. Fish Night
Loved the colours and the story is similar to dreams I've had over the years. I will never forget that one quote from the ep. Didn't really have anything else to offer apart from the good animation. The plot was kinda boring and the ending didn't save it at all.
And finally Ice Age, I guess
Ok this one was the least interesting from the episodes I liked. The ending confused me a bit cause how was the whole thing able to start over when he had unplugged the freaking refrigerator. Maybe it didnt work that way, dunno. I needed more information, like where did they get the refrigerator from? Or why weren't they more shocked when they discovered what was hidden inside it?
And then we have the eps I didn't really care about:
1. Sucker Of Souls
A story about Dracula, so I thought I would end up liking it more. In the end the only thing I care about is Gary (cause let's be honest, Gary was the best and we all liked this character). The plot was meh and the ending even more disappointing and anticlimactic.
2. When the Yogurt Took Over
Ok this one at least was actually referring to how technology makes our lives easier and raised questions about what would happen to humanity if we suddenly had to live without it. However, I personally found it a bit boring and would never compare it to the episodes mentioned above.
3. The Witness
I seriously don't understand why so many people love this episode. Apart from the great art style there was nothing else worth liking. The story was a mess and we all spent the whole ep watching a naked lady run for her life, boobs bouncing, and a guy stopping to get his d*ck sucked while chasing her around the city. I've tried to gather some info on the ending cause I really needed to understand it, but the best explanation I could find was that she is actually running away from her demons. Still doesn't explain the endless loop so I just gave up trying.
4. Blindspot
Yeah..this one had no plot and not a single piece of information was given to us about the characters and the mission. I could have just skipped it and I wouldn't have missed anything.
5. The Dump
I have to admit that I didn't expect that turn of events, so points for that, I guess. Overall a boring story I won't be watching again soon.
6. Alternate Histories
What the actual f*ck was that?? When I read the description I thought it would be a very interesting episode that would explore different possibilities regarding the impact Hitler had on the history of the world. But no.. it was just a messed up story that made my eyes bleed and a complete disappointment.

so the way that Skinner was turned into the new breed of American vampire was, blood from a Carpathian (aka the ‘traditional’ vampire we think of when we hear the word, descendant of Dracula) fell into his open eye as he was dying. we see later in the series that just skinner’s blood is enough to change others, the ‘eye’ part of the equation is no longer necessary.
but when he changed pearl, the first and only person he’s ever truly and deliberately changed for what might be termed ‘altruistic’ reasons? skinner didn’t know that yet. so he bit his own lip and literally kissed her eye tenderly, as she herself lay dying, to change her.
and honestly what the f*ck who allowed this, i have feelings here.

Two Different Kinds…of Protection (Heart and *coughs*) [Updated 3/9/18]
TEH
John: *shaves, then goes into the medical facility, where Prescriptions is on a big sign with an arrow and Ring For Assistance is also prominently displayed* (Pharmacy then, please call on your phone if you need assistance. If your heart needs help, call.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sherlock: He made his position quite clear.
Us: Ohhhhh.
John: Cough.
Time passes…
PROTECTOR VINYL  + Phone (But instead of the heart call, Mary buzzes on the intercom. Biggest c*ck block.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Sherlock has been on the train case with Molly (the John mirror). They discuss going out for chips (TLD Faith - We had chips.), and his helping a man put up shelves (have sex).
Tumblr media
Fast forward…
John is saved from the bonfire, and comes around to 221B again.
Tumblr media
John doesn’t understand, so Sherlock explains about deception. Two kinds of…(Sorry, distracted by the…
Tumblr media
…*gratuitous booty shot*)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
See, I’m staring you (the audience) in the face (while we’re investigating train carriages disappearing into…places).
Stag Night *booty shot with John standing behind him* Also, when Sherlock gets up and wipes the edge of his mouth, the transition goes to John’s mouth in the jail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leather seat…sleep…
T6T
Two different kinds of vinyl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, but he was a student (a younger person, but he’s a Sherlock mirror). Sherlock doesn’t have a car in TLD, so Mrs. Hudson suddenly does, and is his transport when his own breaks down. She delivers him directly (as opposed to straight) to John, because Molly won’t do.
Tumblr media
Vinyl’s cheaper than leather. (Accepting a poor substitute will never go well.)
Tumblr media
John explains that Charlie had been dead for a week.
Tumblr media
John: I’m going to make a deduction…Happy Birthday. Cake is obligatory. (TSoT: according to Janine, sex isn’t obligatory).
Tumblr media
Mary, who came to tell John when he had new patients in TEH, and use the intercom. She miraculously knows about the two kinds of vinyl, because (speaking of Janine)…
Tumblr media
Fast forward…John and his phone (heart and Mary might be picking up what is happening?)
Tumblr media
John’s mobile sounds, and we see this split screen with bathroom where John shaved for Sherlock.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The vampire (Sherlock was patterned after Lord Byron, who was the pattern for Dr. Polidori’s The Vampyre, which was then used for Dracula) and John are texting, and Mary is mentioning crying.
Tumblr media
Mary says, “I know,” to Rosie right before the “I know” appears on John’s screen, rather like in MHR when Sherlock appears to be replying to John on the DVD.
Tumblr media
ASiP Sherlock: It’s been in the same pocket as keys and coins. The man beside me wouldn’t treat his one luxury item like this, so it’s had a previous owner. (In ACD canon, this deduction was made about Watson’s watch.)
Tumblr media
THoB
Tumblr media
Just like Moriarty, but Henry says his father was torn apart (and we know Henry is a Sherlock mirror-same clothing colors as everyone except Molly in S4, he smokes, suppressed childhood trauma at age 7, etc, etc, etc).
Train again…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Disappointing breakfast and black coffee (with two sugars?), not tea. How very heteronormative of you, Henry. (Not Hamish)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
John gets the girl’s number, but is more interested in (S)topping. John doesn’t use the train anymore or ride his bike, but we don’t know why. Mary might still have the car…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
John changing his mind from the girl that was across the aisle that fancied him, E aka Euros. Also, the “I’m not free” part is a direct lift from TPLoSH, when Holmes first mentions that he and Watson are together. Have been...for five years, the same length of time since Moriarty met Eurus, since Christmas was canceled in ASiB, etc.
Tumblr media
Route 59 was extended in 2007, which coincided with the relocation of the Euros(tar) terminal. Route 159…Henry’s napkin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, you waited too long to remember what would make you happy, and to fix the situation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, John already did his crying in TLD after telling someone he wasn’t free, so who could this be about, hmm? Moriarty, the one whose body was never found, dressed like Sherlock…
Tumblr media
Again, referencing TPLoSH via Queen.
Tumblr media
Just like in TEH when Sherlock and Mycroft go from playing Operation with the broken heart to making deductions, we’re going to play a new game, a different game…
Tumblr media
If you want to use the phone (your heart), you’re going to have to work for it.
Then they get down the Chekhov gun, and we get this little gem…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mycroft, the brain and tradition, is refusing to comply.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
John has no such compulsions. He has his own version…
Early release…camera shows up John, then Sherlock, and then
Tumblr media
…another gratuitous booty shot.
Tumblr media
Fast forward through Sherlock and Eurus playing the duet, and the boys cleaning up 221B to John using his phone (heart) to call Sherlock.
Tumblr media
After leaving Shutter Island, he uses the land line instead of the mobile. Also, notice how clean the flat is here, as compared to when Mary was inside of it. (The flat symbolizing the state of their marriage, just as the Welsborough’s home was a bit outdated, but still clean, and they were so happy.)
Tumblr media
Transition scene to putting in Mary’s DVD: PROGRESSIVE SCAN  OPEN/CLOSE - CLOSE
Tumblr media
They put in the DVD from Mary, and she says, “PS…”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because except for punishing Mycroft for being bad, we’re back to the two men we always had, the two good men. Also, the people that helped you, will be rewarded by being allowed in 221B (see linked meta).
The reason John started his blog in the first place, wasn’t for the credit or the legend. He and Sherlock don’t care about that, and never have.
Tagging people involved in the two kinds of vinyl conversation from this past weekend, and some usual suspects @smoljohnlock @monikakrasnorada @mrskolesouniverse @victorianfantasywatson @swimmingfeelsinajohnlockianpool @antisocial-otaku @johnlockiseternal @tendergingergirl @sherlockshadow @kateis-cakeis @princesse-des-lucioles @sarahthecoat @may-shepard

Heartless
I’ve seen some of the new Doctor Who and it’s kind of terrible. Once, when i was younger, I’d be on the edge of my seat whenever i tuned into this smart, snarky, surprisingly well executed indie-like show. I adored the first few series of the revival run. Eccelston was a decent Doctor but the show took off once David Tennant got the role. 10 is my favorite Doc of all time, no disrespect to Matt Smith or Tom Baker but, for me, it’s 10 all the way. He had the best stories, the best development, the best pathos. He was written brilliantly and i adored every second of it. And that’s the rub; 10 was WRITTEN beautifully. There was creativity and passion and love in his stories. All of that was driven by Russell T. Davies, a brilliant creator in his own right. This cat was the driving force behind shows like Queer As Folk and The Grand. He had a way to ground his storied in reality by focusing on the characters and their motivation. For Davies, the devil was in the detail and his almost auteur sense of showrunning made sure of that. I understand why Eccelston left after one series. Davies wasn’t budging on his vision and Eccelston, being the same way in front of the screen, woulld, invariably, do nothing but clash. It was sad to see him go but we got Tennant in tow, so it wasn’t all bad. I was born in the 80s so, until the revival started, my Doctor Who was Paul McGann. It’s a shame he didn’t get a fair shake. I think he could have been incredibly special in the role. Unfortunate. Eventually, Tennant left, like Eccelestson, but on different terms. Cats had to pry David off the set, he loved the character so much. In comes Matt Smith, all young and gang, instantly warming our hearts to his cool ass bow ties. Matt Smith brought Steven Moffat with him as showrunner and this is where things took a turn, I think.
Steven Moffat is a huge television person in Britain. He’s produced fantastic shows like the BBC Sherlock, Jekyll, and the current Netflix Dracula run. He is not Russell T. Davies. The difference in their writing is wildly apparent. I’m not saying it’s bad but it’s definitely less. Or so it was after Davies left. See, Davies had a cache of writers on his staff while he ran his portion of Who. Moffat was one of those cats. Davies says he never changed a single script submitted by Moffat, and I’m inclined to agree. When you have strict parents, you know to stay inline and put your best foot forward. When Davies bowed out and Moffat got the big chair? That’s when sh*t started to slide. Don’t get me wrong, the show was still entertaining. Moffat hit the jackpot with Smith and Karen Gillan. Their chemistry was amazing. I, personally, enjoyed the episodes with Rover Song as well, although, that seems to be a point of contention among the fandom. However, You can see cracks begin to form when Gillan left. Now, i absolutely adore Clara Oswin Oswald. The idea of her character was great. The execution, not so great. That becomes a theme in Moffat run. By the time Peter Capaldi got to throw on his sonic shades, Moffat was phoning sh*t in left and right, which is absurd because Capaldi is an excellent actor. How do yo outright waste such talent? There were a few sparks of amazing, a few brilliant episode, and f*cking Missy, ultimately though, Moffat went out with a fart instead of a bang. I think, toward the end there, Moffat was tired of the vehicle that made him a star. This brings my to current Who. The BBC installed one of the worse creatives in their social conscious to helm what could arguably be the biggest shift n Who since the first hiatus; A female Doctor.
Now, i was never one of these cats who cared if the Doctor had a Johnson or a Virginia, they’re immortal interdenominational aliens who regenerate their bodies after death. They can be whatever the f*ck they want to be at that point, except ginger, apparently. o be so butt-hurt that their precious Doctor now has boobies is ridiculous. Be upset about who they cast, bro. We’ve had excellent actors portraying the good Doctor for decades. Is this new one, female or not, going to carry that torch? Do they have the ability to do this legacy justice? That’s what should have been the focus, but it wasn’t, so the BBC was able to slide Chris Chibnall into the big chair. That is the problem with this show. A lot of Chibnall’s catalog seems to be crime serials. I’m intimately familiar with Broadchurch and i can make pretty accurate assumptions about Law and Order: UK. He was head writer fir Torchwood, but that ain’t Doctor Who. That’s a different show with a different feel. He’s actually written some of the worst episodes of Doctor Who in the new run, itself. Who’s favorite episode is f*cking “Dinosaurs on a Spaceship?” And the BBC put THIS guy in charge? No wonder the ratings are in the sh*tter, dude can’t write outside of crime dramas! There is a distinct lack of imagination there and it shows in his filmography. Just because you have a tenuous connection to Doctor Who, doesn’t mean you should be in charge of the entire goddamn show! Which is a shame because Jodie Whittaker is an amazing actor!
Jodie is the saving grace of this terrible run and it’s hard to see that with how drab her scripts have been. This feels a lot like how McGann got burned in the 90s but in a different way. Whittaker’s pedigrees is unassailable. Ma can act. She was great in attack the Block and the best goddamn thing about Broadchurch so stepping into the role of the Doctor; a role historically chock full of freedom for the actor to craft any sort of personality for the character, should have been a dream come true. it wasn’t. Whittaker was almost immediately boxed in by the BBC and Chibnall, forcing this weird, focus grouped, visage all over her. She was immediately expected to impersonate a cross between Smith and Tennant, something that sound awesome on paper but is absolutely impossible to pull off once you have a deep understanding about those two characters. 10 was a Doctor who had to live with the knowledge that he committed genocide on his own people. While he was able to smile and interact with others on a personable level, he kept people at an arms length. He abandoned the woman he loved in another dimension because of this fact. Because he feels he doesn’t deserve to be happy. 11 is the opposite. He forgot the number. He stopped counting. He allows himself to love again, both platonic and romantic. He doesn’t care about the Time War and it’s casualties, not anymore. This juxtaposition is impossible to reconcile and it makes for a sh*tty character with no tone, no agency, and no heart. And that’s the problem with this run of Doctor Who so far; There’s no heart.
It seems Chibnall has a rather short leash with this run of the Doctor. Not that he minds it, dude comes across has kind of an executive bootlicker from what I’ve seen. He’s a creative who isn’t all that creative; a writer who has good ideas and not a lick of understanding about how to execute them properly. I could be wrong, I’m not British, but i am observant and it appears to me that Chibnall is at his best when he’s adapting some sh*t or has a framework to build upon. Crime serials have that. They have a structure to their narrative. It you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all that’s why they’re called “serials”. Even with Torchwood, there was a world to build upon and cats to edit his scripts. Being the showrunner for Doctor Who has none of that. There is no structure. There is no framework. There is just pure possibility, awash in the fantastic. You have to have imagination to be in charge of Who and, as far as i can tell, Chibnall is lacking that aspect. He’s lacking heart. Doctor Who feels like Broadchurch, in more ways than one, and that i absolutely a sin. Who should feel like Who. It would be whimsical and tragic and uplifting and heartfelt and genuine. What Chibnall has created in these two series so far, feels like a product. This sh*t was pressed out, manufactured, with not even an ounce of love and that sucks. How can he be so jaded and he just got the job?
