The unusual thing about it is that none other than "Tangerine Dream" have contributed this very short but beautiful, dreamy and melancholic track! . This theme tune is based on the track "White Eagle" from the 1982 album of the same name by Tangerine Dream. . On the B-Side of this single is the track "Katja". Not as strong as the title track but also this shorter track has something… . You don't have to like or have seen the thriller, the title tune stands for itself. A piece of beautiful, melancholic Kurzweil! . . . . .

[Stuntman] [Edgar Froese] [LP] [1979]. Seven years ago now, one of the greatest musicians and pioneer of new music Edgar Froese has been lost to the world much too early. R.I.P. . Along with Klaus Schulze, Edgar Froese was one of the greatest geniuses of electronic music par excellence. His works will still exist when other things are long forgotten. . "Stuntman" was the first album to use digital sounds. In fact, this album sounds completely different from the previous ones. Fortunately, not worse, just different. The pieces on this album radiate an unusual warmth and security. The journeys through the soundscapes leave the listener with the impression that he has seen these places before, although he has never been there. . As mentioned above, Edgar Froese created digital sounds for the first time on this LP using the legendary PPG. This digital synthesizer was not the downfall of the old analog synthesizers, but a welcome new possibility to create new sounds in a digital way. . This LP proves what great music can come out of it. By the way, besides the fantastic synthesizer sounds, Salvadore Dali's friend plays one of the most outstanding guitar solos ever, on the track "A Dali-Esque sleep fuse". . . . . .

[Aqua] [Edgar Froese] [CD] [1990] This is the first solo album of electronic music pioneer Edgar Froese. This is a re-release from 1990 on CD, but the recordings are identical to the LP from 1974. In 2005 there was a revised version of this work which I do not recommend. . Although "Aqua" is not yet fully matured, we hear here one of the greatest works of German electronic music. At that time hardly anyone would have realized that many more great solo albums (e.g. "Stuntman") by Edgar Froese would follow. . On "Aqua" Edgar Froese is supported by his excellent "Tangerine Dream" colleague Christopher Franke on the track "NGC 891". The remaining three tracks were recorded by Edgar Froese alone. . "Aqua" is a piece of contemporary history of German electronic music. Regardless, it is a fascinating work full of beautiful sound painting. If you, like me, can't get enough of endless Mellotron arcs, sequencer patterns as well as synthesizer pads and intelligently incorporated nature sounds, you can't miss this pearl! . . . . .

[Quichotte] [Tangerine Dream] [1981] LP] The album "Quichotte" consists of the live recording of the concert in 1980 of Tangerine Dream in the "Palast der Republik" in East Berlin in the eastern part of Germany of the then so-called "GDR". . By the way: In the "Palast der Republik" many very well known western bands performed in the 1980s, the guests were mostly privileged people loyal to the line. Nevertheless, I would say that the rulers underestimated the explosive power of music at that time. They wanted "bread and games" for the people. Eight years later, there was the only "peaceful revolution" so far, which led to the fall of the dictatorship. The concerts of the western bands probably did not cause that, but they certainly had a not insignificant part in it! . The concert is based in large parts on the studio album "Tangram". Who already knows "Tangram" should not close his mind to "Quichotte" anyway, because one difference to the excellent "Tangram" is that "Quichotte" somehow sounds a touch more organic and thus gets a completely different character altogether, despite some similarities. . "Tangram" was always described as cool which I actually liked and still like a lot. "Quichotte" is different, but is just as great. Pulsating rhythms, floating beautiful melodies and soulful sound clouds. This live album is one of the best works of Tangerine Dream! . "Quichotte" was re-released in 1986 under the name "Pergamon" for West Germany. . . . . .

Besides the fantastic improvisations, you can also hear well-known sequences from "Sorcerer" and "Stratosfear", which are two of the best albums by Tangerine Dream. Nothing more needs to be said about it! . . . . .

[Romance 76] [Peter Baumann] [1976] [LP] This first solo album by Peter Baumann shows how strong and important his influence on Tangerine Dream was. If it were not clearly labelled as a solo album, it could without a doubt be considered an official Tangerine Dream album, and one of the best! . This does not mean, however, that Peter Baumann has copied from Tangerine Dream but just how much he has influenced the sound of Tangerine Dream. In addition to the typical Tangerine Dream sound shaped by Peter Baumann, new ideas can also be heard on his first solo album. . The first LP side is typical Tangerine Dream at it best. On the second side, Peter Baumann conjures up experimental, dark, sacral and theatrical sounds in a fascinating way that would probably not have passed through Tangerine Dream at that time. . A great solo album by Peter Baumann and a must have for everyone interested in the electronic music of that time, but also for everyone who loves music! Are they original recordings from the early 1970s or were these recordings only made in the 1980s? There are no really clear facts about this. Edgar Froese liked to rework old recordings in the 1980s, remix them or even add new parts. But, is that important? I don't really care, what matters are the tracks as such, and they are great! . Beautiful, sublime, nobly floating electronic soundscapes, impressive drum passages, well-dosed fascinating electric guitar, dreamy sequencer and Mellotron paintings. .
