Chiri’s Fic Updates (& whatnot) for 2024!

Hi guys!

Since we are now in the thick of 2024, I thought it was time to address a few things in regard to my works - I put out… 5 different series? In 2023 and added 3 in 2024. I wanted to touch base with you all in what I currently have planned for 2024. My thoughts are kinda all over the place but I'll try to make it make sense (lol).

Planned fics

'My Wife in IT' - The sequel to 'The Girl in IT' is set to start shortly after we conclude 'The Girl in IT'. It's inevitable that Joel and Sugar are to be married - it's listed (kinda) in Joel's list, and I thought it would be a good idea for Sugar to have a list of her own! I'm really excited to start planning it - I'm wondering if I should crowdsource Sugar's list with the readers as a thanks for all of the love and support that 'The Girl in IT' has received! I'll probably be posting a poll shortly!

'A Bounty Hunter Walks into a Cantina' (rough working title) is the Din Djarin equivalent to 'The Girl in IT' with a "Mr. & Mrs. Smith' twist - it's very early in development and I am debating if I should make it a Modern Din story over a Star Wars universe one.

Current Fics & Series

'The Girl in IT' - I am floored at the response that this little series got! I am 100% committed to see it through and finish. I have a rough timeline and chapter list - no more than 10 chapters (9 main chapters and 1 epilogue/teaser).

'Meet Me at the Farmers Market' - I think that I will still continue the series but it won't be updated as frequently. I had intended the series to only run for the holidays, so I tried to give Joel and Sunflower a resolution / happy ending before the year ended. I still have a few ficlets that I want to post to supplement the series - and will try to post them in the coming weeks.

'Call it Karma, Call it Fate' - Should be completed by the end of January.

On Hiatus (or slated to be canceled)

First and foremost, I have decided to put my earlier works - ‘Our Violent Hearts’ (Joel), and ‘The *** Diaries’ on indefinite hiatus. Honestly, if I could eradicate OVH from existence I would, only because I feel like my writing has gotten better and OVH was written and planned so poorly that I want to get rid of it, so if you notice it gone from my masterlist, this is why. Honestly, I had good intentions when I conceptualized it but my heart is just not in it to finish.

With ‘The *** Diaries’, I wanted to try something different, but it ended up being more work than what I was willing to put out, so for now, I have no intention to move forward with it.

‘The Impossible Man’ (Din) is on hiatus, but with one more chapter to go, I might just bite the bullet and finish it, but only when I have some time to do so. I hope to get it done by the end of the first quarter.

'A Woman Under The Influence' will also be going on a small hiatus - I love the concept of the story but didn't realize how daunting it is to write a story set in the Star Wars universe. There is a lot of research and planning that goes with it, and it can be quite overwhelming.

Purim Gifts 2024 fic exchange letter -

Generally, 

DNW anything to do with harry potter, or a tragedy, everyone dies, oppression sucks, and life is awful vibe. No intense bigotry or invalidating someone's identity. Nothing super nasty. Im mostly looking for lighthearted fluff, fun, mischief, and good feelings. Im not averse to tension, action, mystery, smut etc. as long as its overall upbeat and hopeful. Approximately kids media level villainy. Bonus points for queerness and or disability (If youre wondering what counts, whatever you think does. Im very inclusionist). Mostly looking for various celebrations of Purim or Jewishness.

Fandom specific vibes, for your perusal: Edit: Ran out of steam so do what you want. :) The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi Id love to see more of the Jewish boyfriend tbh, but also the whole crew is just fantastic.  A League of Their Own (TV 2022) There's just so much missed opportunity that the only canon Jew is Shirley. Shaw should be Jewish. Greta could be. Esti. They could have cute Jewish lesbian bonding over Shabbos candles or something. Getting everyone involved in a gift exchange. Going in drag to the gay bar. Finding a Megilla reading that doesnt coincide with a game. Anything with Bertie. Theres so much potential.  Alex Stern - Leigh Bardugo This one might be more angsty. I just desperately want more Alex and her relationship to her Judaism. Did it hurt to pawn that kiddish cup? What was her grandmothers house like, what food did it smell of? Does she sing herself Ladino lullabies? Does she observe in any way on her own? (Also that chai necklace burning up in hell — I have to know how the magic realism intersects with Jewishness). Something sweet with her friends or fellow Lethe people is cool too, maybe something to do with the artifacts in El Bastone. Cosmere - Brandon Sanderson Im thinking Mistborn might mesh best but honestly go wild. Stormlight is probably my favourite, Rysn and Chiri-Chiri, Navani and Raboniel, Shallan, the trans king from the walking island. Marasi and Steris my autistic blorbos. Maybe something weird with Kelsier. Critical Role (Web Series) Im thinking Jester and Nott and pastries and mischief. Im not super caught up on campaign 3 Im up to Bassuras, Ive seen most of two and a good bit of one and would prefer no major spoilers. There's no character that I really dont like (unless im supposed to dislike them TRENT IKITHON). “I hope you find someone to mourn you when you’re gone”. Woof.  Probably mighty nein are my favourite but I also have big feelings about Ashton and chronic pain, Percy, Vax, Vex, Kiki, Gilmore. Mollymauk. I hope this is useful information lol.

okay I’m absolutely loving this series and I am living for this Joel and his relationship with Sugar!

I do have a question and this topic isn’t on the list so I think I’m safe for now but are things always going to stay just between Joel and Sugar? So many times people start to include threesomes/other people (which is of course fine if that’s what the writer wants to do!!) and I just personally don’t like reading that and sometimes it kinda ruined a series for me 🙈

So with there possibly being a sequel, I just wanted to know if you already know if things might go in that direction? Just so I know when to possibly stop reading 🙈

(I’m sorry if this is a weird ask! I kinda see a lot of myself in Sugar and this story is like the perfect daydream of what I wish my life could be, aka having an older man take care of me (thanks daddy issues lmao) so I might be getting a bit too invested and I don’t wanna ruin Joel and Sugar for myself 🙈)

No, not a weird ask at all!

I will start by putting your mind at ease: The sequel, aptly titled 'My Wife in IT', will come out shortly after we conclude 'The Girl in IT'.

Will I be putting a threesome/other people storyline in it?

No. Not now, not ever.

I think a lot of what happened in chapter 4 explains why that is - Tess mentioned that she hasn't seen Joel with anyone else for the last 10 years, and that is because he's been waiting for Sugar! They are both (somewhat) equally devoted to each other, and I don't think I could imagine that changing. There will be no infidelity, either, so you can rest easy. They might mess with other people (like listed on 'The List') but will remain together (in my universe).

I know I put a scenario of someone liking my reader and trying to insert themselves in the main relationship in a past series (Tommy, in 'Meet Me at the Farmers Market') but even then, it was never going to be a possibility. When I write my relationships out I ship them hard, and will always want them to have a happy ending.

I am so glad that you are able to see a lot of you in Sugar, what is really crazy is that she is a lot of me too, and I would be absolutely destroyed if Joel were to ever ask if we could include another person in the mix. She is a combination of a lot of my favorite people in my life, and I really am protective of her!

This ask does not upset me at all, Nonnie! Honestly, I got a bit burnt out at the tail end of the series and I feel like... I dropped the ball, you know? It's crazy how one little plot change ended up having this big ripple effect on the series. I knew how much people loved the outcome, but at the end of the day, you're right: I need to stick to my own ideas. Thank you so much for the reminder, BB!

The kind of bad news is... because I decided to essentially rewrite the last few chapters, I decided to give myself a little break from Sugar and Joel, giving them a bit of space while I nail down the plot - the major plot change in chapter 8 means that chapters 9 & 10 have to be completely rewritten, and I want to give myself a bit of grace so I don't run into the same problem again. I do apologize for that, but hopefully, I'll be able to put something out soon!
