When I took out "Eloise" (1955) - originally titled "Eloise: A Book For Precocious Grown-ups" - from the library, I was excited to refresh my memory of this beloved classic by Kay Thompson and Hilary Knight and share it with all of you. After all, we all know how much I love a subversive picture book, and mischievous protagonist. Instead, much to my chagrin, it just seemed ... obnoxious.
