Welcome to CHENFORD WEEK 2023!

In collaboration with @chenfordsource, @sgtbradfords, and @theawkwardanglophile, join us from July 11th-17th in celebrating dating era Chenford and Chenford Week 2023! 

All content is welcome, whether it's gifs, fanfic, graphics, moodboards, playlists, videos… anything, as long as it's of your own making! There are 3 options per day - you can focus on one or mix 2 or 3 together. Remember to tag us in your creations using #chenfordweek23

Day 1: Inspired by Canon Day

Favorite s5 moment or episode (can be canon compliant fic)

Canon quotes (taken out of context, favorite quotes, etc.)

Day 2: TV Tropes Day

Spin the wheel! Pick a random trope and fic type from the wheel (click here)

S5 tropes / s5 parallels (can include other seasons)

Future tropes (engagement, wedding, pregnancy, kid fics)

Day 3: Something’s Missing Day

Incorrect dialogue (tumblr posts, tweets, etc.) or scenes you wish we’d seen

Missing moment or underrated moment

Amnesia, missing pet/person, missing object/ring, etc.

Day 4: Happy Hawley-Day

Inspired by a song that came out in the past year

Holiday themed (either canon or in fic)

Relationship milestones/firsts

Day 5: Love Languages Day

The original love languages (physical touch, words of affirmation, giving/receiving gifts, acts of service, quality time)

Create your own love languages, Chenford edition (ex: “pranking as a love language”, “sparring as a love language”)

Hands, hugs or kisses (or choose all three!)

Day 6: Get Creative Day

Inspired by a poem or quote

It’s crazy that the 4th installment of Chenford Week is about to wrap up. It all started as an anon ask, and has grown significantly since the first time around. The very first year we had 35 fics. The second doubled plus some to 83 fics. It’s probably quadrupled since then! I’ll always have a special place in my heart for this growing tradition.

I was fortunate enough to be the one that helped create this experience. Even more fortunate to have the help of some of the best people in this fandom help mold the idea and participate.

I hope this tradition stays around for a long time.

It's officially 12:02 AM in EST which means it's DAY 6.

day 6 -> Any AU or alternative take on their relationship

Canon divergence/lawyer AU -> what if Lucy actually had been convinced by Chris to take up a career in law?

And also, because I wanted angst, what if she didn't tell Tim until she was already accepted to law school? And what if the fallout caused them to not see each other for six years? And what if she finally sees him again because, unbeknownst to her, he has also become a lawyer and is now opposing counsel?

“Are you mad I became a prosecutor?” Tim asked–and if he’d left it there, the question might have almost been plaintive; she might almost have been able to convince herself it was borne of regret. But when did Tim ever leave things in a way that might satisfy her–“or that I beat you?”

The rage that rippled through her at his arrogance–after all this time, after all this silence that he had imposed–surprised her almost as much as the words that came out of her mouth in response, unplanned, but not untrue. 

“Neither,” she snapped, “I’m mad that you cut me out like I didn’t mean anything to you.”

Lucy has spent weeks planning her first night home from undercover. She’d had to give up so much of herself, so many of the creature comforts that built her routines, that thinking about those missing parts had become its own sort of solace. She never said a word about it, not even to Tim, but she spent countless nights thinking about her favorite pajamas, the fuzzy blanket that lives at the foot of her bed even though it used to be Jackson’s, the warmth of a mug of peppermint tea cradled between her hands.

She’s missed it, missed the quiet, gentle habits, the ways she gets to connect with herself at the end of every day.

So as soon as they’re debriefed, as soon as she’s parted ways with Tim in the parking garage, Lucy sets about finding herself again. She takes the long way home, listening to her favorite songs and driving through the parts of LA she hasn’t seen since before the op. When she gets back to the apartment, she and Tamara order Thai for dinner and spend the evening watching cheesy romcoms.

Then the clock strikes 11, and for the first time in almost three months, Lucy gets ready for bed without worrying that drug runners are going to wake her up in the middle of the night. She savors her cup of tea, relishing in the smooth minty flavor. Even though it’s still summer, she finds her coziest socks and pairs them with her favorite sweater, turning on the fan so she can tuck herself underneath the covers.

The fan whirs quietly in the background, muffling the edges of the sitcom she’s streaming from her phone, just enough to break up the silence, screen dimmed and face down on the nightstand.

It should be a perfect night, the kind of easy rest she’d learned to forgo but longed to get back.

So why can’t she fall asleep?

"I'm sorry for disappointing you"… This little sentence just ruins me every time. It's so heartbreaking. Because at this point, Lucy isn't even angry. She's simply resigned. She expected it, just like now she is expecting Tim to be disappointed in her. And how many times have we heard her utter this exact sentiment over the years? "I'm really sorry if I let you down" (to Andersen in 1.10), "you should have seen Sergeant Grey's face. It was utter disappointment" (to Nolan in 1.14), "I know you're disappointed in me" (to her dad in 1.17), "I kinda hoped that he would be proud of me" (3.06), "If you're done expressing your disappointment, I would -- I would like some space, please" (to her mom, in 3.10), "I won't let you down" (to Grey, in 3.13), "My whole life, nothing I have ever done has been good enough for my mom -- not -- not my grades, my boyfriends… my career" (in 4.14)…

And that makes Tim's answer that much more heartwarming. "You could never disappoint me." With the notable exception of her parents, every time she has expressed that sentiment, she was being told that it wasn't the case, that she wasn't letting anyone down. But she never fully believed it. Her self-worth is directly connected to making other people proud of her. And that's not sustainable in the long term. Hearing those words from Tim — someone who means everything to her, who is her safe space — is so important… Just like having his unwavering faith, his unconditional support and love is…
