Один із перших фільмів, що стосуються життя китайських кварталів в Америці та війни тонгів.

Головний герой - кат одного з кланів (це поважна посада, причому спадкова). І йому належить зробити дуже нелегкий вибір. Висловлюючись пишномовно "між любов'ю, обов'язком і честю".

Фільм наївний, але добре зроблений і з прекрасним акторським складом (щоправда, китайців грають білі американці і японець).
