The Champions (New & Old) meet your pet cat 🐱

My drabble-ish headcanons for the champs, new and old (with the addition of Tulin obvs) meeting your feline friend for the first time. ...Because we deserved kitties being BOTW/TOTK.

Revali is immediately on guard. The only creature he has to compare it to is a Lynel given the shape of its nose and pointed teeth. However, seeing how incredibly small it is in comparison does bring him some ease. You hold up your cat under its front paws to try and show Revali that he's relatively harmless, but the Rito turns his beak up a bit with a wary glare. It takes quite some time before Revali is used to your pet, but he eventually warms up to him. Even makes a toy out of a few of his molted feathers for your kitty.

Daruk has to compartmentalize that a cat is NOT the same thing as a dog, and thankfully when he sees your kitty cat, it becomes very clear that those two animals aren't even close in stature. This relaxes the Goron champion, who instead becomes intrigued by this "tiny lion". He waves his fingers over your pet's head, a gesture that your kitty finds playful and sits up right to try and catch the oversized digits. Daruk is immediately enamored by how small and lively it is that he dubs it his new buddy. Many times after that you will find your cat curled up in Daruk's arm - the latter of which couldn't stop it from climbing his back and housing itself there and he didn't have the heart to put him down after.

Mipha is about as curious as your kitty is when they meet one another. Your cat takes a few sniffs of her hand to try and identify her to which she giggles softly, finding it's little nose and whiskers adorable. She tucks her fingers under your pet's chin and gently scratches, mentioning that your kitty reminds her of the catfish her father used to raise when she was little. Though in your head you think of how vastly different catfish are from actual cats, you shrug and watch on fondly as your cat takes to Mipha fairly quickly. But it's Mipha and you honestly don't think there HASN'T been a person or creature that didn't love her anyway.

You were unsure how Urbosa would react to your pet cat, and it showed with how nervous you were to introduce the two to each other. However, Urbosa leaned over to inspect the fuzzy creature in your arms, only for a small paw press gently on her nose. The calm, cool nature of the Gerudo Chief was immediately broken, her emerald eyes softening at the tiny, meowing thing. Her nails scratch at its head and your cat purrs, eyes closing in complete delight from the attention. Urbosa feels her heart beat with a maternal thrum, suddenly feeling very protective of your pet. She looks up from petting it and warns you that if anything were to happen to him she would strike the perpetrator down with the biggest bolt of lightning she can summon.

The father & son duo of Teba and Tulin weren't exactly sure what to think. This tiny furry creature wasn't a being of flight like they were, and it required you to take care of it almost like a child - but clearly you two were not of the same kin. Teba has seen dogs before at the stables, but your feline friend was definitely not that. Upon meowing, Tulin immediately perked up, commenting on how cute that sound it made was. You held up your kitty and made its paw wave at your friends - Tulin taking its beaned hand for a little handshake. Teba on the other hand can't help but chuckle to himself, never thinking he'd find anything other than his son when he was a hatchling so cute.

Yunobo is immediately in love with your kitty cat! He's a very gentle soul himself, and all sort of animals have miraculously flocked to him in some way: birds, dogs, squirrels, etc. So seeing your pet, he wants to make friends with it right away. Because his stature might spook your little baby, he takes to kneeling, lending out his hand for your cat to take his scent in. Without missing a beat, his hand is instantly rubbed upon and before you know it, Yunobo is holding him in his arms the way one would hold a baby. You're almost dumbfounded at how swiftly your cat takes to him. But the Goron just gives you the sweetest of smiles, commenting on how relieved he is that your pet likes him.

Sidon has a bit of trouble getting along with your cat at first. His ludicrously tall build and pointed shark teeth intimidate your kitty in a way that makes him scared of the Zora royalty. This bruises Sidon's poor heart, he really does want to get to know your feline companion! It takes a little warming up (and a bit of fish treats from your finned friend), but eventually your cat does allow him petting rights. Delighted as ever, Sidon revels in the purring noises your cat lets out, comparing him to a tiny motor. You laugh at the childish wonder in Sidon's eyes as he waves his arm above your cat's head - the tiny paws swiping at the blue and yellow tinged forearm fin playfully.

Riju is ENAMORED with your adorable little cat! She's seen strays in the past in her diplomatic travels throughout Hyrule, but she's never had the opportunity to actually play with and pet one. The small mews and rascally nature of your cat has the Gerudo chief squealing with delight. So much so it draws the attention of some of her warriors who, despite their strong demeanors, cannot help but coo at the creature. To your unfortunate expense, the whole ordeal earns you an annoyed stare from Patricia - and you're mildly worried because you weren't aware that sand seals could glare...but she sure does.

Urbosa

Loves to cuddle you to no end

Shes so so so soft with you

Loves to hold you, actually prefers to hold you

soft little whispers if loving words to you

is always so proud of you, all of you

dreams of the future with you in it

reads to you until you fall asleep

gives amazing hugs, and not just because of the height difference. When she hugs you, its full of love and the feel of protection

head kisses

cuddling with tea is such a bonding moment between the two of you

will sit you in her lap to cuddle you because she will most likely be taller than you. And its comfy too!

when the town has died down at night, she walks around with you and lets herself go a bit more

when you two are in bed together, she loves looking at your face. She will hold your face with one hand and hold your body with the other. The connections during this time is so heightened

hums to you when you two are alone

Mipha

The absolute sweetest

dances with you

her laugh is so cute, but laughing together is her favourite

water fight? water fight

she can travel up and down a waterfall so quick, she will be using this to get to you if needed. She's always so excited to see you and when ever you two see each other after a long absence, she is practically running into your arms

she heals all of your wounds personally

she has the softest lips, no doubt.

Lowkey sometimes kisses your wounds to heal them

talks to you the most at night, when you two are alone. Its always the sweetest things too

takes you to behind the waterfalls to have alone time with you

Imagine cuddling together is shallow water and looking at the stars

she's quite small compared to the other champions but damn does she try to big spoon you if you are taller than her

she loves being little spoon too. stroke her neck and she will melt into you

She will bring you flowers and little gifts as a sign of devotion

she can't help it but you make her blush. she loves you so much, its hard not to let her feelings radiate out of her

if you two ever sleep in the same bed and she wakes up first, she will hold you just a little tighter because seeing you so peaceful makes her so happy

Revali

He is PROUD of you

when he looks at you, its not a smirk, its not a crooked grin, its a genuine smile of pure love

loves hugging you from behind, its like a blanket

Listen, he will learn an instrument for you. For the Ritos, its common for the girls to learn to sing, but obviously its not just the girls since Kass plays an instrument too so he learns an instrument to serenade you, sings about his love for you

when you two cuddle, he likes to be the big spoon more often than not. Will tuck you under his beak and wrap you up in his wings.

When he lets you big spoon him, he will lay on your chest and listen to the steady rhythm of your heart beat. After a while, it sounds like he is purring on you

his perception skills are amazing, on par with Urbosa, so he reads you really well. Will notice if you are not one hundred percent comfortable, will fix it if he can

He teaches you archery and he will be so proud of you whenever you hit a target. Surprisingly patient with you (probably with you only though, not gonna lie)

let this man braid your hair for you, and you can do his braids too

He really does love having physical contact with you. You're very grounding to him

loves the comfortable silence between the two of you. You two can share so much with out making a single peep.

Daruk

oh my god, hes never been gentler before with someone else

he is a walking heater so if you're ever cold, he is your man. Like if you shiver for one second, hes next to you.

he loves to compliment you so much, it's not even subtle. Everyone hears him gushing about you

he is like a puppy when he sees you

look, he's the big spoon. if you try to be a jet pack if you'd like but he would be so confused about it. You're so small compared to him

loves learning about you so he would gladly spend all day with you

he is so devoted to you. His family is already so important to him, so you being a love one, you're included

can and will carry you

strokes your hair. Its so new to him

HEART EYES

its not easy to kiss him so he will lean down to put his forehead against yours. his eyes are closed and all he wants to do is be in the moment with you

this man will leave love notes for you. he is that kinda guy

“Well then…” Urbosa gestured for Link and Zelda to follow her and she led them to a quiet spot behind the inn. “So, Queen Lianna wants me to pilot Vah Naboris,” she said quietly. Almost too quietly. It sounded more like a hiss.

Link nodded. Zelda crossed her fingers behind her back and prayed, once again, that the chief's infamous temper wasn't about to erupt. Surely she wouldn’t explode on Link, not when she was so plainly fond of him. Zelda, however, was a different story.

Urbosa's face could have been carved from stone. She gazed across the desert at Naboris's prone form.

“I see,” she murmured, seemingly to herself. She suddenly gave a sharp bark of laughter and pulled Link into another hug.

“I will pilot the Divine Beast," she said. "You are precious to me, little dragon, and you need my help. I couldn't possibly refuse.”

Zelda reaches Kara Kara Bazaar, and memories of Chief Urbosa come flooding back. Urbosa acted like more of a mother than Queen Lianna ever did. Zelda can only hope Urbosa won't blame her for Link's current entrapment.

In the past, Urbosa has a request for Zelda. In the present, Zelda fights to keep her promise.

I've been playing lots of Breath of the Wild again these past few days, since I finally got the DLCs. After beating the nerve-wracking spike-laden temple, "The Champion's Ballad" is going to lead me back to the Gerudo desert.
