You know what would have been really cool? If the Chūnin Exams meant something more long turn. Like the idea of the exams was to see if these young ninjas were able to raise up the ranks right? And so they tested them on what they would need to do as full ninjas. Gather information without getting caught, Covertly survive while retrieving an objective, and then straight up fighting. And those first two basically never happen. Why not have an arch going forward that directly has our protagonists in that situation? It just kinda feels like wasted long term potential

sleepy thoughts rn but people tend to overlook iruka so much because he’s incredibly ordinary and in a world filled with characters who have enhanced ability, iruka is clearly mediocre and average at best and yet people better not be forgetting that my man CONSISTENTLY was voted top 10 each time they had a pole bc iruka is THE HEART of the story. specially because he is naruto’s HEART. every condition that the shinobi world rejected, he embodied so openly and thoroughly: he is compassionate, he is caring, he’s not without flaws as we see him angry and easily snapping at people even @ jōnins above his level, and yet there is care and an inherent kindness driving the act. he was never malicious, and while many in their world would consider it a huge flaw: iruka wore his heart on his sleeve, consistently. proudly.

#he said: i will challenge the toxic masculinity sooo hard #like sorry im just up thinking abt iruka being the only one advocating for the kids against the chūnin exam #which is clearly looked down upon in their worldview but……. HE WAS RIGHT!#he was riiiiiighhhhhht #iruka was sooooo YEARS AND GENERATIONS AHEAD in child development and care for their world #he is at front and centre ALWAYS advocating for children safety like i get SHIVERS #and u may think hes just a simple ‘goody two shoes’ but i digress!#iruka was never completely *vital* (loosely used here) in many of the important plots #but he was still consistently summoned and/or we see the studio or manga utilising him #in association with the hokage. HOKAGE. and yes thats partly bc of naruto #which rlly brings home the point that hes the HEART (apart of many) of the kid #like i could go on and on about the flaws and amazingness of iruka my sensei 🫶 but i shall stop #i just love him a lot. im sooo happy he existed #and his main characteristic of being consistently caring having resonated with many is just 💛#so revealing to us @ our nature like we know dont we that deep down all we needed was someone to care abt us #the way iruka does aaaaaahhhh #gen: out of character.

it's been what over 10 years but i still can't give a single fuck about neji's death

#i did hated him during the chūnin exams arc but after naruto's talk-no-jutsu worked on him and he changed i stopped hating him #i started reading the manga after he was dead so i found it out about his death before i caught up and didn't care #but i thought maybe when i get there i will be sad #but NOPE #and it still goes completely over my head why people liked him so much to still be so mad at hinata and kishimoto after a whole decade #like what was so special about him #he was just some guy #maybe it's that same old tale where the fandom loves hating women in naruto #can't relate

Suddenly remembered the entirety of Tenten's theme even though I haven't heard it in years!

#shame they didn't use it more #also. not sure if people remember it but she and neji share this theme but his is more upbeat and fighting styled.#but hers somehow jumped into my mind faster #yes. I'm now remembering about chūnin exam arc. no I'm definitely not googling episodes to watch.#but... hmmm. we all know that in reality naruto peaked there as a series 💀
