debscottcostumes The idea for Ronal’s intricate top, woven with shells came from beachcombing in New Zealand when I found a shell that was cylindrical in shape. Together with the artisans at Wētā Workshop, we created the concept of the Pāua top - each shell was individually carved and arranged in a woven framework. The seaweed skirt is a mix of different kinds of shells, and the lavender color is from the shells I found on the beach, which we recreated and made our own versions of with 3D printing. cdglocal892 Did you catch the “Titans” Season 3 premiere? Costume designer Laura Jean Shannon shares her experience working on the new season. “Designing the Supersuits on Titans has been an exciting journey to take with my team for three seasons, and collaborating with Joyce Schure our fabulous costume designer on the show has created a lifelong bond between us. When working on a show steeped in history of comic lore, we have a great responsibility to the fans that are invested in the arc of these iconic characters. Last season ended with Dick Grayson Robin becoming a much-anticipated Nightwing. This season the fans finally get to see the transformation of Jason Todd Robin into Red Hood and Starfire got her suit! Blackfire entered the fray, and we were able to explore the yin and the yang of the two Alien sisters as superhero and villain respectively, exploring the age old topics of family and redemption. We always dive into a great deal of research to help build a visual bridge between the characters as we know them from the books and how that would manifest in a grounded real live action version of the characters. After creating concept art that strikes a balance of design that is evocative of the existing characters while infusing a fresh perspective, we start dialing in all the details in a series of fittings with generations of prototypes that the team and I use to finally realize the finished piece. Blackfire was an especially fun character to conceive of and innovate with new techniques. We always try to push ourselves into new ways of approaching each character build that’s specific and unique to each design. For Blackfire we created her armor to feel as if it was in motion, an undulating alien metallic alloy of sorts with custom created gemstones. Damaris was one of the most exciting collaborators as an actor throughout the process, always bringing her signature energy and enthusiasm. Never a dull moment with Titans!”

Exclusive photos by @johnpfleenor , who is the the coolest, most talented and knowledgeable photographer that I know. Seeing him do his thing on set is always a blast. he makes it look so easy and it is not an simple job. For black and white photography, he has to be able to understand shadows, light, depth, and so much more. I can only dream of being a photographer like him.

I cannot say enough about our costume department. I am spoiled to be surrounded by so much talent. Feel free to send @cdglocal892 a message asking them to feature our costumer designer, @agata_louie ⭐️ She and @stylingsabrina are so creative, it’s ridiculous. @taylorbakkenson and @shellmatteo did a great job at keeping me sane this episode. Thanks for making the 18hr days fun.

This was probably my favorite episode to work on. Every department nailed it: hair, makeup, props, set dressing, writing, editorial, lighting, grips, transportation, locations, camera, production, background extras, craft service, catering, and so many more people in post and beyond.

.

Fun fact: @officialtomellis is wearing a pocket square that I nailed! It has double sided tape on it to keep it in place. In black and white photography, the texture of the clothes is more important because the color reads differently. He is actually wearing a camel, tan colored suit.

It was so fun to dress @mingna_wen and @yosoycordova as undercover pilots on the base in episode 3. The uniforms were inspired by the real women aviators of #WASP who started flying during WWII as service pilots.

I was so happy to be able to build another custom suit for @clarkgregg Thanks to @highsociety_bespoke I found this low stock glenplaid suiting in just enough yardage. I also searched high and low for the perfect tie fabric. Yes we built all the ties! Stunts = you need multiples on everything and there isn’t much dead stock in vintage ties 🤪 luckily my #agentsofshield costume crew is THE BEST.
