god im sorry if this topic is beaten to death, but the pinkie pie discourse reminds me of validates creator complaining about hic, despite creating catherine pinla... which one looks closer to a racist caricature if you compare them? and how hones art is apparently not like the comics, when the people saying that draw them as anything but that.

its this pattern i noticed of woke people hating on something so inoffensive and at the same time doing the ugliest art possible in the name of activism. i dont think even the racist boogeymans they complain about make art as unflattering as they do. horseshoe theory is real.

And for those who don't know what Catherine Pinla looks like, here it is.

But yeah, sometimes the left can be just the same as the right in its own way and viceversa. We hate to admit hypocrisy, but it will happen at times that we have to acknowledge it. We're all human. Just how it is handled varies on the situation. Best course of action is making sure nobody gets harmed and if something does go wrong, they will be properly punished.

I want on this ride?

So you’ve heard of this game Validate right?

It’s gotten in trouble for having thinly veiled contempt for white people but I’m going to be the better person and not use that as an excuse to rail the game.

Have you seen the list of characters for this game?

Some of them are boring. Like very very boring to look at (I’m looking at you Alanzo “I look like every man you’ve ever seen” Davids)  and others are just really unusual looking for their character’s age and then there’s Rocky Harrison who is amazing looking but can’t possibly fit in with the decade the game’s story is taking place in. 

Catherine Pinla is like an onion. There’s so many layers to address. She’s what I would draw if someone told me to draw Sqrly Jack’s Blax Cat as a human. 

The character is clearly some kind of power fantasy. 

We could spend a couple hours talking about them and I have in various failed posts but I came to the realization that I desperately want these characters to do their thing.

You don’t understand. This could be the next YIIK. Like YIIK was a mess for a lot of reasons and you might get the impression that the seeming difference in politics between YIIK and Validate means that they can’t possibly have anything in common but that’s surface level. 

The thing that makes YIIK more than just a badly made game is how insistent it was at being a product of it’s time to the detriment of itself. 

It’s actually fascinating just how obnoxiously millennial it is and how it will date itself very quickly.

This game will also suffer that fate. There is no way in hell this game won’t age horrifically just on character design alone. In ten years the dialog from this game will seem like the ramblings of space aliens. 

This is pop-cosmopolitan, post-flower power. 

The age we are living in right now is the death throes of everything established in the Vietnam War. 

The people that established this sort of culture has been banished for being conservative in unexpected places and then younger generations are going to see this as the norm so they’ll want to subvert it so this won’t age well in the possible Neo-Andy Griffin, Meta Modern future. 

I hope this game comes out because I’m all about this game now. Imagine the content that can be generated from playing this game.

Yeah, why aren't they calling out the other ancestor trolls that are drawn in the same dark silhouettes are called out as being racist caricatures? They even forget the reason they are portrayed in dark shadows was to play parallels to the Human Guardians who are mostly seen as white in their art style.
