Carmen Sandiego
Outfit Ranking Season 2!!!
Here is a link to part 1
We will not rank the outfits that were already ranked in Season 1 and that also appear in Season 2. We will just look at them again because why not? Lets get them out of the way.
Dive suit Rate: Awesome
Tumblr media
Mumbai outfit Rate: Sexy
Tumblr media
Jammies Rate: Comfy
Tumblr media
Red Hoodie Rate: Cool
Tumblr media
Red Coat Rate: Hot!
Tumblr media
Now that we have seen the already seen awesomeness. Let's get into it.
Number 7: Hospital gown!
...does it count?
Tumblr media
I mean, quite unfortunate to be in a hospital. But at least they let her keep her makeup? Cmmon! Those lips are way too red to not be make up. The nurses were like: She's frozen but that doesn't mean she can't be glamorous.
Number 6: Training outfit.
Tumblr media
Always protect the face. She will break yours while looking awesome.
Tumblr media
Did you notice that triangles are a common thing on her clothes? Should we make a conspiracy theory about it?
Number 5: Russian outfit
A spectre is haunting Europe — the spectre of communism the Red Ghost! привет Comrade Carmen!
Tumblr media
She looks fashionably warm!
Number 4: Model dress.
Tumblr media
She looks great. Boob window and all. The slit on the skirt. But even more that that: She can fight in heels.
Tumblr media
And throw them too. I see she has a thing for throwing shoes.
Tumblr media
She looks nice! But if you ask me I prefer the Auction dress from season 1.
Ok now. The three first places!!! But before that, you know it: Three honorable mentions!
Honorable mention #1
The cutest baby ever. My goodness!
Tumblr media
She was the best toddler pick pocketer. Probably the only one.
Tumblr media
Honorable mention #2
Fashion's latest scream! A very elegant coat made out of... the remains of a glider. Kudos to Carmen for making the best out of an awful situation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To this day I hate Chief for this. Hate her deeply. Carmen might forgive her but I do not.
Honorable mention #3
Carmen's dream hats. They are imported. They are here because that hat is so iconic it made its way into the subconscious world.
Tumblr media
Third Place: Safari outfit.
Tumblr media
Oh my glob. Can she look cuter than this? I know it doesn't appreciate here but she is wearing a red belt. Can not be a Carmen outfit without red. Nice very nice outfit. She looks super cool.
Tumblr media
And my goodness, those legs!
Second place: Dubai Dress.
Tumblr media
This one was difficult for me. I almost gave it the first place, because she looks so damn elegant and sexy! She has a cape, A CAPE! She looks like a woman that anyone would obey at the snap of her fingers.
Tumblr media
And a hairdo! And the earrings! Little splashes of red.
Stunning! simply stunning.
First Place: Moto GP
I am biased. I love motorcycles. And I love Carmen. And Carmen in a motorcycle? What else could I ask for?
Tumblr media
I may be cheating here because I´m counting the bike as part of the outfit. She looks super hot on a Ducati, sue me.
Look at her going! Vrroooom!!!
Tumblr media
So fast. So skilled. So sexy. AAAAaaaahhh! Look at the technique! The counterbalance! She might not now how to drive a car but she surely knows how to ride.
Tumblr media
Rock and Ride!
Tumblr media
I made so many gifs and I am not sorry. Brrrrhaaaababababammmm! Rrrrev it girl!
Tumblr media
Akira style! So good so good. Hoo baby, that's hot!
Tumblr media
I'm just curious about where in VILE island could have she learned how to ride a bike. I'm not complaining though.
That's it folks. See you at Season 3 outfit ranking!

More trivia! (this time with Extra Maps™)
For interest's sake I was trying to figure out where in Poitiers Cleo’s hôtel particulier might be, plus identify the train stations featured during Carmen's trip to Paris—and I think I’ve figured (most of) it out.
First of all, Carmen is supposed to be fifty yards from the townhouse in this shot.
Tumblr media
That puts the building somewhere on the east side of the River Clain, slightly north of the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Poitiers, but not too far from what looks like the Pont Joubert (the little bridge in the lower right corner). The Caserne d’Aboville (barracks for the 9e Brigade d'Infanterie de Marine) would be a reasonable stand-in for location, and even looks a little similar in terms of architectural style.
The station Carmen flies in to also bears a more-than-passing resemblance to the real Gare de Poitiers
Tumblr media
but the pattern of terrain she passes over doesn’t quite fit with what appears to be a southerly approach.
Tumblr media
However! This particular background gets rotated and recycled about ten seconds after initial use (left being its first appearance, rotated for comparison; right is unaltered but from ten seconds later), and if we go by the second version,
Tumblr media
the curve of the river is a close-enough fit for having taken a path like so
Tumblr media
with the little arrow being her upcoming destination, the Gare de Poitiers. Unfortunately I could not match the station Carmen’s train briefly stops at to a real location en route to Paris
Tumblr media
so if anyone recognizes it, please let me know! Which leads me to the other ‘???’ moment I had while working on this because
Tumblr media
...yeah. Yeah, I’ve got NO idea what’s going on with Player’s map here. He's got France oriented in the usual 'up is north' way, but that just makes it weirder? Because by that compass, Carmen is moving south—even though Paris is east and NORTH of Poitiers.
Though this show does get a little fuzzy with its geography at times*cough*Interpol's HQ is in LYON*coughcough*and Devineaux’s conspiracy map has the Canary Islands on the WRONG side of Africa*cough*
Anyway, after Player regains Carmen’s signal, her GPS marker is heading in approximately the right direction
Tumblr media
answering exactly zero questions about where it was going earlier, but all’s well that still ends (somehow) in Paris, I guess? The Gare du Nord then looks to be the best match for where Carmen makes her exit
Tumblr media
even if all direct trains from Poitiers to Paris seem to go to Gare Montparnasse instead.
Update: this seems to have turned into a bit of a series, so check the reblogs to get an episode-by-episode for the rest of S1! A full-show overview is here. Also, the street Chase and Julia are driving down at the very beginning of the episode looks to be none other than the Rue de la Cathédrale, as the structure behind them is consistent with the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre’s south tower. From a cartographic standpoint, it does place them on the wrong side of the Clain as well as moving in the opposite direction of Cleo’s residence, but that’s where the artistic licence comes in, I guess. ;)

Hi new to your blog! Love your work!👍❤️
How would yandere bnha heroes react to a Carmen sandiego villain darling?
A master thief that steals priceless items purely for the thrill of it and sees being constantly pursued by police and heroes as a sort game.
Tumblr media
Carmen San Diego Reader | Yandere My Hero Academia
Infamous in the legends that tell you’re one of the most talented thieves to exist. Constantly befuddled by your amazing feats many believe you have a quirk to help you. It’d certainly explain the relentless devotion of the ones you come in close scrapes with:
Tumblr media
Takami Keigo
“Ha, there you go again, right out from under my nose.”
He’s sure he slips four to five feathers every time you two are in close quarters
And yet when he chase them down he finds them every than with you
For so long he’s been chasing you and trading blows with you
“Seems like you might be losing your touch, (Y/n).”
“Am I?”
He comes to seek you out
Negating his missions so that he can investigate obsess+ over what you’ll do next
Constantly getting in the way of the B-list heroes actually assigned to stopping you
“There you go again. Leaving me at the end of the chase…but just you wait. I don’t plan to stop anytime soon.”
Tumblr media
Izuku Midoriya
“How–”
“The world’s number one hero bothered with little old me? I’m flattered. Until next time.”
“Wait!”
He scrubs through and screenshots you in the security footage
If anyone asks he’s burning it into his brain to recognize you the next time you burglarize a priceless item
He probably could catch you if he had the intensity he used with other villains
But he knows you never kill let alone seriously injure others
That is something he admires about you
Or how you oftentimes will slyly leave him just enough evidence to convict some corrupt person on trial
In a way, you’re his own hero
And he’d want nothing more than for you to accept him as your own villain
That way he’d like to be called rather than some nobody other hero to handle you
They couldn’t treasure you like he could
“I’ll have save you one day. I promise that.”

so long, chicago
Tumblr media
Without the warmth of your things in the apartment, it looked sad and cold. The boxes that you packed were stacked along the hallway. Movers were scheduled to help you in the next hour.
Your belongings would be traveling across the country with you following.
After one last sweep of the apartment to make sure you weren’t forgetting anything, you stood at the large bay window facing the city. A city that you once considered home.
You’d miss Chicago. You’d miss the people that you’d met. The connections that you formed. The memories. The laughter.
The sound of the front door opening snapped you out of your thoughts. You turned and saw Carmen walk in. You didn’t expect for him to be home anytime soon. You’d hoped that you could avoid the last interaction.
“Hey.” You said softly.
He nodded, “I thought you’d be halfway outta town by now.”
“The movers should be here any minute.”
Carmen took off his coat and placed it on the right hook near the door. Yours would normally go on the left but it was currently sitting on top of one of your suitcases.
“Richie said you stopped by the restaurant last night.”
“Yeah, I wanted to tell him goodbye.”
“I guess that’s nice.”
“You guess?”
“What do you expect for me to say, (Y/n)? I love that you’re abandoning me and everyone you’ve met here?”
“Abandoning you?” You couldn’t believe that he really said that.
“We’ve been together for six fuckin’ years! One day you wake up and realize you don’t want to be with me anymore out of the fuckin’ blue!”
“Out of the blue?,” you raised your voice, “Carmen, I dreaded making that decision for months! You were so out of touch that you didn’t even realize that we had stopped acting like a couple long before I ending things.”
Carmen chuckled bitterly, “That’s not true.”
You hadn’t planned on leaving on ugly terms with Carmen. If anything, you wanted it to be civil. You were huge parts of each other’s lives. Under all of the pain and heartbreak, there was love.
“I was the only person trying in this relationship. You would get home at one or two in the morning and I’d try waiting around just so we can have a conversation after not seeing each other all day. I planned date nights and tried to pry you out of that kitchen to notice that I was practically falling apart at the seams!” You confessed. It hurt you that he hadn’t even noticed.
“Relationships are hard! That why you have to make them work!” Carmen was visibly upset at how the conversation was going.
“I was the only one fighting for this, Carmen! When was the last time you bought me flowers or texted me to see how my day was going? I barely even heard an ‘I love you’.”
“I do love you. So much that I don’t want you to go and move to San Diego. You belong here with me and- and with your friends. People that care about you!”
“Sometimes love isn’t enough. I’m tired, Carmen. Tired of feeling like I don’t mean shit to you. I need to be with someone that wants to be with me. I want someone that won’t make me feel alone when we are together.”
Carmen closed the space between you two. It was the closest he’d been to you in days. He still smelled of the cologne that you bought him for Christmas with a faintness of the cigarette he must’ve smoked before.
“I thought we’d spend the rest of our lives together.” He said softly.
“If you thought so, then why aren’t we married? I’ve had friends in shorter relationships that have taken the next step. I’ve waited for so long for you to ask me to be your wife and every anniversary that passes, I know that it’s not going to happen. I don’t want to leave. I really loved living here. This felt like home more than any place I’ve lived in, but I can’t stay here.”
“I’ve been a fuckin’ selfish asshole. I’m sorry. You don’t know how sorry I am. Please, I’ll make things up to you. I’ll change.”
“And when things get hard? When you get busy and stressed at the restaurant, then what? It goes back to how things were? I can’t put myself through that. I can’t take that chance.” It killed you seeing him so upset but when you broke up with him, it was like you could breathe again.
You were becoming the person that you used to be. You didn’t want to sacrifice yourself for someone else that didn’t give you the time of day.
Three knocks to the front door made you step away from Carmen. You opened the door and saw the movers with a dollie and a couple of extra boxes.
“Excuse me.” You felt Carmen grab his coat and brush past you. Part of you wanted to chase him down and wrap your arms around him. You didn’t want the last image you had of him to be so hurt.
As you watched the movers grab your boxes and take them down to the awaiting truck, you grabbed the letter that you wrote for Carmen. You planned to leave it on the kitchen counter.
You didn’t know if he’d even read it. Maybe he would rip it up into tiny pieces. Maybe he would read it over and over again.
It wasn’t up for you to wonder. You were at peace with your decision and that’s all that mattered.

Quick little rant y'all can ignore (I just love ranting too much)
Unpopular opinion : it is NOT to be a hipster or to be like "I'M NOT LIKE OTHER GIRLS~" but very often either I will hate or just not be interested to watch at all the newest Tumblr fandom. I really feel like a Tumblrite but sometimes it feels like I just can't enjoy or be hyped by whatever the others are hyped with without doing it on purpose, as if we have nearly no common taste. I mean sure we all are unique and loving everything others we do is boring and impossible and would prove the person is shallow and can't be true, but just, absolutely nearly every big Tumblr fanfavorites annoys me
Superwholock ? Sherlock was nice but not THAT nice and the others never interested me. HH/HB ? Loathe the characters and story. Lackadaisy ? Don't understand the hype. Nimona ? Don't care. She-Ra ? Hated it. The Owl House ? Can't stand the posts on my dashboard nor the charadesigns. Centaurworld ? I know it is one of those things that look lame in the trailer but from what I got gets deeper, but I saw it being so much overhyped I can't. Green Eggs and Ham ? Ugh couldn't it have just been the old cartoon ? Arcane ? The more people said it was revolutionary the less I wanted to check it out. SU ? I used to love it but then it betrayed me with how badly written it endes up to be. SVSFOE ? Except one or 2 arcs it was not my type and the ending infuriated me. Ducktales ? Only season 1 was good to me. Miraculous Ladybug ? It broke my heart so fuck you show. Encanto ? "Narcissic families are ok and misunderstood if they are pretty". Wendell and Wild ? The demons did look interesting and I was curious for them but sadly the main character is insufferable and Idgaf she is sad she is still an asshole but gets away with it. Wednesday ? Tim Burton understood NOTHING avout the Addams Family and flanderized Wesnesday. HtTyD ? Should have been a standalone. LOK and to be fair ANYTHING coming after ATLA books comics and upcoming series included ? Burn em to the ground. Rise of the Guardians ? Seriously the animation is gorgeous but you have the blandest plot and characters ever but everybody calls it original and groundbreaking wtf ?! Arlo the gator boy/I Love Arlo ? Ew it looks ugly as fuck and I am VERY wary of titles that self congratulate (coincidently the Lou! franchise became very shitty when it was renamed into I Love Lou Very Much so it ticks me off) makes me wanna do the contrary and hate Arlo. Carmen San Diego ? Didn't care. The Cuphead Show ? Only season 1a is good 1b and 1c are shit but because "gae devil" everybody loves it holy shit the game is better. Frozen 2 ? Admit it, you liked it ONLY because you see Elsa like a lesbian and wanted to go "HAHA GET FUCKED" to Let It Go. AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON LIVE ACTION REMAKES
Some I even actually just didn't dislike it or care at first but it was seeing all the excessive posting and love for it despite 1) not wanting to watch (I love Arlo, never I wanted to kill a gator child so much force of seeing him on my dash) and/or 2) seeing legetimate problems and flaws and yet everybody ignoring it (Encanto, I hated the end but I did like the movie itself but seeing everybody justifying the end made me loathe it) it turns into hate. But some I hate from the start but seeing everybody love it anyway makes me wonder if at that rate the problem is me and I nitpick too much or of course like everyone I just have my own tastes and what pops up on my dash is not a reflect of universal taste ?
But I often call it a curse because everybody seems to have fun and it's as if I am doomed not to like and it looks like what the audience usually loves is just not my type, which sucks because I don't have many people to vent about it, not many people to gush about the obscure things I love because I am cursed to really invest myself in old fandoms I only find about now or stuff that don't even interest much people but fit my specific niche tastes, dashboards flooded with "OMG GUYS WATCH IT IT IS *SO* IMPORTANT AND THE BEST EVER" making me want not to whereas only 3 likes on posts of franchises I love that are barely known or loved... Probably why I have so many obscure fandoms actually. I am SURE it is subconsciously why I wanted to give a chance to Elemental and Avatar 2 since nobody talked about it in good or at all here !
I am not even sure and just like me those who love these franchises and are part of these fandoms must just have their own specific intersts peaked of course and if so it is absolutely alright ! But often I see they all have a pattern and I feel like, like when I ranted in my posg that defends Elemental, that they will love it and adore it just for ONE element not matter the rest hence why they only talk about that one element that irritates me when I am flooded in posts praising it but really it is just that element. "Omg so much representation" ok cool what is the plot "it is a trans allegory" yes but more precise ? "it is so GAY (affectionate) and girl power !!!" yes but ? The characters ? "Oh the characters are minorities some are LGBT half are POC and some even have a disability and they fight heteronormativity and traditional beauty standards" ok ok I GOT it but what are they like as people !?! "there is a canon gay ship in it I love them little blorbos" I DON'T GIVE A SHIT DAMMIT WHAT IS THE PLOT AND HOW ARE THE CHARACTERS "also it has a varied cast and is made by minorities and women !" Ok bye now I won't be able to help but see it being loved only because of those and not for its story and it will make me bitter about it as if there is nothing else but that to defend because it implies the scenario itself isn't that special for people to only talk about the Christmas present package rather than the content
It is very occasional I will actually get curious because it IS my type thanks to Tumblr : WOY, Pinky and the Brain Undertale, Good Omens, TDC : AOR. It needs to strike a sort of special chord in me to go "uh !?! A modern cartoon that feels like an old cartoon with funny designs and animation and funny characters !??! Uh !?! 2 gay mice that were probably not meant to be gay but they accidentally cracked many eggs in their portrayal and to think I was not interestee when I thought Brain was bidimensional and didn't give a shit about Pinky like I thought ??! Uh !?! Fun skeletons and a macho fish woman with cute pixel style !? Uh !?! Angel and demon are friends and were on Earth for years looking for a kid !?! Uh !?! In that prequel it shows one reformed Skeksis being actually good helping Gelfling and in a relationship with his Mystic ??!" And other Tumblr favorites I loved like idk FNAF, MLP FIM, Spiderverse, Puss in Boots 2, The Bad Guys and usually in general most popular big studios block buster animated movies I loved and others did were stuff I found by myself which Tumblr just coincidently did too so it doesn't count. Some I even discover them years later when the hype died down and nobody speaks about it anymore (reinforcing my idea that IS probably wrong that they don't even really love it but just go "OO SHINY" when something is new and pretty) that I can notice and love years later or at least late a franchise, like I don't wait on purpose I just really discover it at this moment or something peaking my interest only happened recently or peaked my attention now
Those aside most of the time I will really not be interested, a third of the time because "I am told to so I don't wanna" and it has to be myself or it will feel like a chore like when I am recommended stuff IRL I will actually postpone even if if I had not been recommended I would have started watching it earlier (I heard from a friend this looks like a symptom in a type of neurodivergence but I AM NOT SURE), a third of the time it really doesn't look or sound like my type of story at all and I keep wondering why there is nothing new for me and why everybody is so hyped by it, and a third I actually give a try and I end up straight up hating it or just finding it meh and overrated. I just need to find my own fandoms myself, even if they are obscure, that spark my interest, hoping they don't become bad in the end (SU, Ducktales, the Cuphead Show, Miraculous Ladybug etc. Sigh) which happened too many times already and makes me even more wary force of experience about what is popular since even when I myself find it becomes shit people still love it. And of course they totally HAVE the right to never would I harrass and police what people have to like and dislike, but it kind of feels lonely at times and sometimes it makes me think if something is wrong with me not to enjoy what seems to be enjoyed by everyone else and if it is my fault ; and thinking that even makes me anxious and guilty feeling like I am ranting for nothing and people will think I am an attention seeker making me even more gjulty and so on which becomes a vicious circle with my anxiety

Bittersweet Series
Arcade Mayhem
Jenna walked the streets leading Ava to The Beef. It wasn’t unusual to be heading to the restaurant, where she grew up, just after Mikey’s passing and Carmy taking it over well Jenna was nervous to go. Nervous to see Carmy and have that high school crush flutter back in.
Ava started tugging at her coat pulling Jenna back to reality. “JJ is it Halloween?”
That’s when she saw a bunch of middle aged men dressed up standing in line to get inside.
“Freaks.” She mumbled under her breath as she tapped on the door smiling when Tina opened it.
That’s when she heard Richie and Carmy fighting as they came into the room.
“Why the fuck would you turn this into a arcade competition? Jesus Cousin.”
“Daddy said a bad word.”
That’s when Richie noticed his little girl smiling and waving at him.
“Hi baby.”, Richie walked over, glaring at his niece, placing his hands over Ava’s ears,”What the fuck is she doing here?”
Jenna rolled her eyes at her uncle as she noticed Carmy’s smirk but she was brought back out of her thoughts when Richie coughed.
“Aunt Tiff…” Richie eyed her knowing how she wasn’t supposed to call Tiffany her aunt anymore, at least not around him. “Tiff asked me to babysit and Ava loves the video games here.”
“See good for business!” Carmy grinned as he ran a hand threw his hair mildly amused.
Jenna eyed Carmy. “A five year old liking to play a video game, where her dad works and you having lined up crazy freaks are not the same. This is not San Diego comic con!”
“See, even JJ thinks it’s a bad idea.” Richie shouted. “She would know, making me buy all that shit for Dungeons and Dragons when she was younger.”
Carmy looked at Jenna. “D&D huh?”
Jenna lowered her head. “It was because of a boy.”
The boy had been Carmy, he had just left and Jenna had basically tried to find another boy to crush over and ended up liking a nerd. Turns out D&D was not the game for her and she was asked to leave the campaign after she killed half her teammates with a spell that backfired.
“Also Uncle you bought me those things without me even asking.”
Richie just put his hands up in defense,as if he didn’t know it was true, while walking into the kitchen.
Richie helped raise Jenna with his brother Marcus in prison. He would have done anything for the kid as he felt that she was his own daughter half of the time.
She truly felt like his first born daughter most of the time. Ava was more like a little sister to her and that meant the world to Jenna. In her books family was everything.
Jenna leaned down looking at Ava. “Can’t play the game right now Av’s. Go to uncle Mikey’s,” Jenna stopped talking as she looked at Carmen regret in her eyes. “Go to the office and get your coloring book.”
Carmy just glared at her, knowing that she upset him, but Ava, clueless to it all, walked to the office. That’s when Carmy quickly walked outside.
It was always like Carmen not to speak about his feelings. Most of the time it was Jenna who tried to get it out of him but usually failed. This time she knew to let him go off and figure it out on his own.
Carmy would often go off to reflect and calm down when they were younger. It wasn’t anything new. Now he was outside yelling at the cosplayers.
Jenna watched in horror when some guy started punching Carmy. “Uncle Richie!”
Before she even knew what was happening Jenna heard the gun go off. Of course her uncle would bring out his weapon.
Jenna heard Ava yelling questioning what was going on. “Stay in the back Av’s!”
She knew what it was like seeing your father holding a gun. Jenna was about three when it first happened and she didn’t want Ava to see this. Her baby cousin didn’t need anymore of a traumatic childhood then she already has.
Too many times Jenna had seen her father leave in handcuffs. She knew Ava had seen Richie and Tiff fighting before the divorce. All she wanted was to keep Ava safe and away from the pain.
Jenna sat in the dining area of The Beef while the morons played the video game. Ava was into the tournament watching as she colored.
She got up motioning to Sweeps if he would keep an eye on her cousin with his nod she made her way back into the office.
Carmy sat quietly with his hands holding his head up on the desk. He was mad at Mikey for leaving this place to him, mad that he was back, but mostly mad that he didn’t know how to fix this place.
He smelt her vanilla scent that she always wore, not even turning around to acknowledge her presence.
“I wondered what was in that box.”, motioning to the open blue cardboard box that he now knew held Ava’s toys.
“Mikey always seemed to buy something new every few weeks and hid it in there for Av’s.”
Carmy sighed, making Jenna put her hands on his shoulders. At first she held them in place but when Carmen relaxed into her touch she started rubbing his shoulders.
“You did good today.”
He huffed, “Barely made a profit more like it.”
“A little profit is better than how it was before.”
Carmy shook his head. “Says you butterfingers. What did you say that this wasn’t comic con? Of course you knew about that with your D&D playing days.”
Jenna lightly smacked his shoulders. “D&D campaigns and by the way thanks for that. You left me here to fend for myself.”
“We never hung out, Jens.” Carmy turned around now looking at her. “You were an annoying fourteen year old girl.”
Truth be told, Carmy never had any real close friends, just Mikey and his group. Jenna was probably the only real friend he had that he wasn’t related to.
She gave him a look. “I didn’t see you hanging out with anyone else?” Jenna leaned on the desk. “We walked home together, did homework together…” Carmen chuckled as she continued. “Okay I did homework and had to kick you under the table to focus on yours. We might have not had the normal stigma of friendship but that doesn’t mean I didn’t notice your absence.”
Carmen looked into her blueish green eyes and they were hurt he could tell. He never really thought that she saw him as a true friend. He was lying to himself about their friendship.
Carmy now felt uncomfortable and anxious. His breathing picked up as he fiddled with his hands.
“I’m sorry I made you feel that way.”
Jenna put her hands in his own. “We were kids, Carmy I get it. Having a younger girl follow you around doesn’t scream the best kind of friendship.”
Her hands slowly left his, though Carmy wished they would have stayed like that longer. She always seemed to calm him down. Jenna ruffled his hair and sighed. “Go get some sleep Carebear. You look like you need it.”
He chuckled. “Ouch that one hurt Butterfingers.” She was at the door frame before he called out. “Jens.” Her eyes bore into his like they were hoping for him to say what she dreamt of. “Ah I guess thanks for being my friend.”
Jenna gave him a small smile and nod as she turned away. Friendship was a good start.

CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS
by Itzel
Every country has customs and traditions that distinguish them from the rest of the world, and Mexico is no exception. Throughout the year, you will find festivities full of music, dance and color with deep meaning and strong cultural roots. Mexican traditions have survived the passage of time, some have been transformed, mixed with customs from other states or countries but rescuing and preserving their essence. Here is everything you need to know about the most popular Mexican traditions, which you should not miss.
‍1. Day of the Dead
If there is one thing that sets Mexico apart, it is the way we honor our dead. This tradition takes place on November 1 and 2 of each year. The Day of the Dead fills the streets of every city and municipality, and Mexican homes with color.
Honoring and showing respect to the dead is a custom that has been passed down from generation to generation. There are variations of this tradition in each region, such as the Hanal Pixan, a unique tradition in the Yucatan Peninsula.
Visiting the graves of the deceased, cleaning the tombs and decorating them with flowers are some of the traditions of this celebration, but without a doubt, one of the most outstanding customs is to place an altar that welcomes the deceased who visit us on these dates.
During these dates you can find great cultural richness and taste the special food of the country.

‍2. La Guelaguetza in Oaxaca
La Guelaguetza, also known as ¨Los lunes del Cerro¨, is the most important holiday in Oaxaca. This is a celebration full of music, color and joy, which takes place on the two Mondays following July 16th.
The Guelaguetza, with religious origins, began as an indigenous celebration dedicated to Centéotl, the goddess of tender corn. After the Spanish Conquest, this celebration became a Catholic rite performed in honor of the Virgen del Carmen.
The Guelaguetza gathers representatives from the eight regions of Oaxaca, who take the Cerro Fortín to perform their traditional dances, typical costumes and great gastronomic variety.
Over the years, the Guelaguetza has become more popular, extending its festivities with activities that satisfy all tastes. Cultural events, dances, gastronomic demonstrations and concerts by artists of the moment are some of the activities you can enjoy.
Some of the dances that are performed on the Lunes de Cerro are the Sones Serranos, the Jarabe Mixteco, the Danza de la Pluma, the Sandunga and the Danza Flor de Piña.

3. The Papantla Flyers
The Papantla Flyers are known all over the world. Their dance takes place in the city of Papantla, Veracruz but it is not the only region where it is performed.
This ritual dates back to pre-Hispanic times and although it has been modified over time, it retains its original meaning. From the beginning this event is part of the merit rituals, in which they sought to obtain prosperity and a long life.
The ritual begins when the leader of the dancers goes into the forest in search of the best tree to perform the dance. It is necessary to clean the land so that when the tree falls, its structure is not damaged. Once on the ground, the branches and foliage are removed to leave only the trunk.
The final part of the ritual is the well-known descent of the dancers suspended from a rope. This dance is an ancestral tradition that will undoubtedly surprise you.

‍5. Parade of Alebrijes in CDMX
It is a recently created event which has had an excellent acceptance. The Alebrijes Parade has been held since 2007 and is organized by the Museum of Popular Art with the help of several institutions.
Albrijes are an icon of Mexican culture and have their origin in the early 20th century. The artist Pedro Linares, who was famous for his ability to create carnival masks and other paper mache works, became ill with a fever that caused him to have many vivid dreams bringing these unique and colorful figures to life.
The parade starts in the Zócalo of the city and you will be able to admire paper mache figures, painted in brilliant colors, up to 4 meters high. The parade can look like a carnival when accompanied by musicians, clowns, costumed people and more.
At the end of the parade the figures are displayed in the Paseo de la Reforma. Afterwards, the alebrijes are judged and prizes are awarded to the artisans.

‍6. Carnival of Veracruz‍
Although this festivity takes place in many regions of the country, the carnival of Veracruz stands out for being the most famous in Latin America after the one in Rio de Janeiro.
Some of the events are the coronation of the carnival kings, which takes place in the city's zocalo, and the "Quema del Mal humor" (burning of the bad mood), which starts the festivities.
During the 9 days that this celebration lasts you will be able to admire how the streets of the city are filled with color and joy. There are parades of floats decorated with unique designs that will surprise you and are accompanied by dancers who wear colorful costumes.
The city is full of visitors who travel from other parts of the country willing to enjoy the joyful Jarocho atmosphere. To conclude the festivities, on the ninth day, the burial of Juan Carnaval takes place.

‍7. Holy Week‍
Holy Week, also known as Semana Mayor, is one of the best known religious celebrations in Mexico. This is the most important time for the Catholic community.
In spite of being a religious celebration, it is considered a national holiday, so it is common to see activities suspended at many levels of school, government and private areas.
This holiday period is considered one of the best times of the year to go on vacation with family and friends.
In the Catholic liturgical calendar, Lenten starts on February 14, on Ash Wednesday and ends on March 29, on MaundyThursday. In Mexico, religious processions and celebrations are the results of syncretism between ancient cultures and the Spanish. The mortification, sacrifice, and physical pain that take place during some of the representations of the Way of the Cross are used to express repentance, redemption, and fulfill promises.

8. Independence Day ‍
Every year on September 16, Mexicans around the world celebrate Mexico's independence. It is one of the traditions that best represent the pride of being Mexican, and that is why every September is called the month of the nation.
On the night of September 15, Mexicans gather in the zocalo of each city or in their homes. Outside the country, Mexicans in different parts of the world do not let this day go by and they also gather to celebrate.
The main event of the night is the famous ¨Grito of Independencia¨ simulating what Father Hidalgo did on September 16, 1810. The President of the Republic is in charge of making this representation at a national level and in each city and municipality it is replicated by the rulers in turn.
During this celebration you will be able to enjoy the traditional Mexican food stands, mariachi music, concerts by artists of different genres and, of course, the fireworks shows cannot be missed.

9. Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe‍
In Mexico, the Catholic religion is deeply rooted in our culture. The celebrations around the day of the Virgin of Guadalupe start the December festivities known as the Guadalupe-Reyes Marathon.
The celebration takes place on December 12 as it is the date of the last apparition of the Virgin to San Juan Diego on the Tepeyac hill, according to Catholic belief.
On December 11, at 6:45 p.m., the celebrations begin with serenades and other tributes. At 12:00 am musicians and artists sing the traditional "mañanitas" to the Virgin.
During the day the churches and parishes see a great influx of people to attend the scheduled masses. In several places in the country, thousands of people go on pilgrimage to the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City.

‍10. The Posadas‍
The posadas take place from December 16th to 24th. They are one of the most beautiful traditions in Mexico.
During the 9 days of the posadas, prayers are said and each one has a different meaning: humility, strength, detachment, charity, trust, justice, purity, joy and generosity.
By custom, a house is designated as the host for each day, and neighbors and family members organize to carry out these activities. After the prayers you can enjoy a conviviality where food and drink are offered to those attending and they can break the traditional piñata.
In the posadas, it is customary for participants to blindfold themselves to break the piñata, which is made of baked clay or cardboard and is decorated with colorful paper mache.
Today, piñatas accompany all kinds of festivities and are not limited only to the posadas.

It is a religious holiday celebrated in Mexico on January 6 to commemorate the arrival of the Three Wise Men in Bethlehem to worship the baby Jesus.
Don't miss out on the wide variety of bagels that are baked: try the different types of fillings and toppings that you will love.
The rosca de reyes hides inside one or more plastic dolls representing the baby Jesus. The custom dictates that whoever finds one of these dolls must present the baby Jesus in church and invite his family and friends to eat tamales on February 2nd, better known as La Candelaria's day.

My space fabric quilt. Assorted space prints and some color swirls for nebulas.
All hexagons for easy assembly. Random bits are quilted outlining planets and other bits. I’d like to add trimming or fancy stitches to make it look like space ship windows.

TZN Exclusive Interview: Andy Robinson
On Garak, "Star Trek", "Dirty Harry" & Sci-Fi Idealism
TrekZone Network sat down with Andrew Robinson, who played the Cardassian Garak in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", in Hamburg prior to the "Evening with Andrew Robinson", organized by FKM Events. We talked about Garak's past and future, Robinson's current projects and the idealism of science fiction fans.
TrekZone Network: Is this the first time you are in Hamburg?
Andrew Robinson: No, I was here 12 years ago for a convention with another organizer. So this is my first time back in 12 years, I believe.
Andy Robinson at the FKM Evening in Hamburg
TZN: Long time.
Robinson: It has been a long time. And as they say, a lot of water under the bridge...
TZN: You have been to Germany in the meantime?
Robinson: Yeah, I've been here several times. For one reason or another and in several different places. I have come here for a whole bunch of reasons. Even just as a tourist. But I have never made a film here or anything.
TZN: Your first stint as Garak was in the third episode of "Deep Space Nine". When you first got that role, did you anticipate or did you know that it was going to be a recurring role?
Robinson: No, not at all. Originally, the role of Odo, that Rene Auberjonois played, came down to three of us. Myself, another actor and obviously Rene. Then Rene got the role. Then they asked me to come in a few weeks later to read for this other role, which I thought was just going to be one episode. But it turned out that they were looking for a way to get the character of Doctor Bashir more involved with the show and so they, they were testing a storyline for Doctor Bashir and obviously the storyline was: he meets this older Cardassian, presumably tailor. Is he a spy? Who is he? This very mysterious person, the last Cardassian left on the station.
They wanted to see if there was any chemistry between Siddig and myself as actors. And of course we hit it off immediately. We had a great time with each other. And so it was based on that when they saw that episode, I think it was "Past Prologue", and they saw that we were working well together then they decided to add more episodes of Garak. Which I am eternally grateful for.
TZN: Do you regret that you were not cast as Odo?
Robinson: No, no, no, no. Not at all. As an actor, and an actor of a certain age, after a while you become very philosophical about these things. And genuinely so. Whoever gets the role, that was their role, you cannot feel remorse or try to second-guess or be bitter. And it always is the right actor as far as I am concerned and certainly with Rene it was the right actor. He was wonderful as Odo.
TZN: The part as Garak turned out to be rather substantial as well, of course.
Robinson: O, Garak was one of the best characters, I mean this, he was one of the most enjoyable, fully satisfying characters I have ever played in my life. And the fact that it is the only time in my life, too, as an actor, that I was able to develop a character over a seven-year period, and not be overused. By that I mean often if you are a regular on a series, they run out of things for a character to say and to do, and so the character just ends up repeating himself/herself, and the actions and the plotlines and after a while it becomes what they call the law of diminishing returns. The character becomes reduced. With Garak, because I was not a regular character, I appeared occasionally, I think I was in 39 episodes, and when I appeared, it was for a reason. Almost always it was for a reason, There are a few episodes when I wondered what I was doing there... But that always happens and at least they paid me, so that was fine.
TZN: Is there anything you would have liked to do as Garak on screen? Or any aspect of his character, his personality, that you would have liked to develop?
Robinson as Cardassian Elim Garak
Robinson: They did start this love story. But then they could not find the right actress. And so they had this one actress playing Ziyal and they did not like her, so they had another actress playing Ziyal who looked like my granddaughter, so that made me feel a little perverse. Then they just decided to forget about it. But it would have been wonderful to have had a bittersweet love story, someone who breaks Garak's heart, who tries to unlock the mystery romantically and cannot do it.
It is one of the reasons I wrote the book, to explore that part of Garak, Garak's heart. Because as an actor, you fall in love, well you do not always fall in love with your characters but the ones that you do fall in love with, it is a very deep relationship that you have with the character, and the character does take on a life on its own. Because as an actor, that is what you try to do. You try to transform yourself into this character's life. Obviously, I am not Garak, I am not Hamlet, but you find those places within yourself that can make that transformation.
I was not a "Star Trek" fan when they hired me. I had no idea what the "Star Trek" universe was, who Cardassians were, who Klingons, Romulans, I had no idea about any of that.
TZN: You had never seen anything, never heard about it?
Robinson: I had heard about it but never saw a thing. And a Cardassian? I had no idea what that was.
TZN: Then the makeup was applied...
Robinson: Yeah, right. But they did show me the episode, in "Next Generation", I think David Warner was the first Cardassian or was Marc Alaimo the first?
TZN: Marc Alaimo.
Robinson: Yeah, but it was that two-parter where David Warner's Cardassian character is torturing Picard and I thought, well, that is a really interesting-looking guy. That was the first episodes that peaked my interest. I thought, they deal with substantial things. And the acting was wonderful. Of course, David Warner has always been one of my favorite actors.
So I started writing a diary. As if Garak had a diary and I would write things, and I would make up things about him. And it is what you do, it is what an actor does sometimes for any character. You try to create a story, a life for this character. And when the series was over, I realized there were still things I would have loved to say about Garak and that is why I wrote the book "A Stitch in Time".
TZN: Did you start with the diary when you recognized that Garak would not be a one- or two-episode thing but a recurring role?
