Les Houthis soutiennent le Hamas dans la guerre qui a éclaté le 7 octobre 2023 après que la milice palestinienne a lancé une attaque contre Israël qui a fait 1 200 morts du côté israélien. Les rebelles, qui cherchent depuis 2015 à prendre le contrôle du Yémen ont lancé des missiles et des drones contre les cargos qui traversent le canal de Suez de l'est vers l'ouest et vice-versa.

Ces attaques ont contraint cinq grandes entreprises, dont la compagnie pétrolière British Petroleum (BP) et les compagnies maritimes MSC, CMA CGM, Maersk et Hapag-Lloyd, à emprunter des itinéraires commerciaux beaucoup plus longs en longeant les côtes ouest de l'Afrique pour protéger équipages, navires et leurs cargaisons. Comment les Houthis ont-ils attaqué des cibles israéliennes ? Après le début des opérations militaires israéliennes à Gaza, les rebelles houthis ont tiré plusieurs missiles et drones sur le territoire israélien. Les États-Unis ont déclaré que leurs navires de guerre en mer Rouge ont intercepté certains d'entre eux, tandis que d'autres sont tombés en mer Rouge ou en territoire égyptien.
Les Houthis considèrent également l'Iran comme un allié, car l'Arabie saoudite est leur ennemi commun.

“As publicized images of the machinic wonders of modernity, they also served as promissory notes, enticing investors to purchase shares in the joint-stock Suez Canal Company. The photographs telegraphed seductive promises of financial gain, pictorializing the genius of European engineering that could dig a manmade channel across the African continent. Running through the pictures, historian Mohamed Gamal-Eldin discovered, was a striking pattern. For the technological sublime to work its wonder on the awed spectator, the photos had to be evacuated of the laboring subjects who made the feat possible: the many tens of thousands of dispossessed fellahin—peasants—who dug the monumental canal by hand.
What sense of the sublime, after all, could be gleaned from scenes of corvée labor toiling under a punishing sun? Hundreds died—from cholera, from accidents, by drowning in the process. The shrewd aesthetics of anonymity served a thinly veiled political function. Depopulated landscapes of gargantuan automation are studded with a few indistinct laborers, made to seem inconsequential to the task at hand. It is a colonial engineer’s fantasy—a celebration of the mastery of European man over the landscape of colonized Egypt, and a paean to the centrality of French technological power in an industrial age that supposedly less developed Egyptians had yet to grasp. The effect is to body forth what Alberto Toscano calls a “world already without us,” the conceit of capitalism that reproduces itself in abstract images of human-altered landscapes devoid of the working hands that fashion them. “The dead labor embodied in machinery suddenly swells to inhuman proportions,” Fredric Jameson likewise observes in Representing Capital (2011). “The quantities of the past have been rendered invisible . . . yet they now surround the worker in a proportion hitherto unthinkable.”
This same effacement of labor marked many depictions of the Ever Given—the colossal container ship that ran aground in the Suez Canal for six days in late March, blocking this pivotal artery of global trade. As the whole world looked on, aerial photographs and wide-lens panoramas struggled to capture the ship’s scale in a single frame. Humans, even other machines, barely register alongside it. Stacked with 18,000 containers and millions of dollars of goods, stretching more than 1,312 feet from end to end, the ship is twice as long as the Suez Canal is wide in the narrow passage where it ran aground. Its geopolitical proportions are equally mindboggling: Japanese-owned, German-managed, and Taiwanese-operated, it is registered in Panama and captained by a crew of Indian seamen. The industrial sublime had returned.
Images of the ship went viral. After more than a year of public health emergency, brought on by a virus too small to see, the Ever Given surely captured our attention in part because its fate expressed the stalled feeling of a whole planet suspended in pandemic time. For a few days the world seemed a little less inscrutable, brought down to scale by a simpler and more satisfying causality. The workings of global markets, like those of microbes, are typically invisible, dissolved in the abstract, numerical, quasi-magical relations of capital flows. But this? A big boat got stuck. The stuck boat was big. And people had to get it unstuck.
This simplicity conceals depths of its own, however, and the story of how we got to this point—where monstrous ships dwarf the canals they sail in—also deserves excavation. Two timely new books help to do that work, unmasking a colossal maritime system whose obsessions with monstrous infrastructure reflect structures of profit-making that have long sought to reduce, deregulate, and hierarchize the labor that lubricates the movement of goods. In this regime, constant circulation of commodities has become central to the “health” of the global economy. To understand the particular saga of the Ever Given, we have to understand the larger global history of maritime commerce.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s national security adviser indicated that Israel could accept a U.S. plan for a revamped Palestinian Authority to govern the Gaza Strip after the war, a sign that the Israeli leader is easing his opposition to the idea.
Israel is aware of the desire of the international community and the countries of the region to integrate the Palestinian Authority the day after Hamas, and we make it clear that the matter will require a fundamental reform of the Palestinian Authority,” Tzachi Hanegbi, who heads Israel’s National Security Council, wrote in an opinion piece published Thursday on the Arabic-language news site Elaph.
"I'll agree to stop commiting genocide but only if you guys agree to my very specific conditions for the next leadership" is practically in the CIA handbook.
'destabilize a region then exploit the power vaccum and desperation it creates' is a play we've seen over and over again.
The question is why is Israel doing it?
Because it is a puppet state. It's serves the purpose of providing the USA someone to hide behind while they destabilize the region.
A puppet state, puppet régime, puppet government or dummy government is a state that is de jure independent but de facto completely dependent upon an outside power and subject to its orders.
Puppet states have nominal sovereignty, except that a foreign power effectively exercises control through economic or military support.
By leaving a local government in existence the outside power evades all responsibility, while at the same time successfully paralyzing the local government they tolerate.

An excellent question!
Short answer: using their own armies to carry out the plans is a surefire way to land themselves in a world war and so using Israel is an easy cop out.
The longer answer is very long.
So what "plans" are they trying to carry out, exactly, right?
Saving the Suez from "Islamist threats" "to secure freedom of navigation." You know, just like our Secretary of Defense said.
You know who else said that though? The plans outlined in Project 2025 by the Heritage Foundation. "The one that's gonna put queer people in detention centers?" Yeah that one. In fact our official are using a lot of the Same Exact Language and working found in Project2025.

"Israel has a right to defend itself" and to take what it deems appropriate measures is how the USA has been avoiding calling Netanyahu a war criminal isn't it? A Google search will show Biden also has tried to block/stop Iran's nuclear development.
Very reassuring that they see the need for that for precaution, isn't it?
And sure maybe you could say this is a conspiracy theory, except US representatives are using the same EXACT language and Islamophobia to justify what's happening. Exhibit #1 the link to secretary of state, but don't worry. We're just warming up and he's not the only one.

Translation: the Suez Canal brings Egypt billions of dollars a year and several parties (the countries listed) would prefer that money be funneled to them instead. The problem is that the aforementioned parties have been destabilizing the region for so long that establishing an alternate trade route through those territories would be seen as an act of aggression if not war.
The heritage foundation has always intended to call anyone who resists that plan a terrorist. Its their way of manufacturing consent to kill people.
And we can see Netanyahu and Biden both following that lead. "The terrorists are just such a giant threat, how could I possibly stop supporting Israel's fight against them?"

So isn't it just so crazy that the countries and regions outlined there (US, Israel, India, Egypt, and Gulf States) are ALSO the countries who presented the IMEC at the G20 summit in September, just a month before Israel started it's genocide?
Oh, you don't know what the IMEC is or why it matters?
Well remember the Suez and how much income it brings in? Yeah well it's also regulated by the state, which means it can't be bought or bribed the same way that a canal owned privately could.
Which means that Egypt is the sole benefactor and controls who else gets to benefit. This often does not include the USA.
The USA does not like that.
Enter: the IMEC.
The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) is a rail and shipping corridor that aims to boost regional development and economic interconnectivity between India, the USA, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel and the European Union. The project consists of two corridors: the eastern corridor will connect India to the Arabian Gulf, and the northern corridor will connect the Gulf to Europe.
[..]Hence, there are technical limitations that the IMEC may face, not least in the Middle East due to its vast desert regions. The construction of railway lines and subsequent transportation of goods would be a difficult task requiring everything from the standardisation of the railway track gauges to the engine configurations. What’s more, one of the main link ports of the IMEC, Haifa, is in Israel, a country which is unstable at the moment due to the Palestinian freedom struggle.
It's how they intend to circumvent the Suez Canal entirely.
Unfortunately for them, Palestine exists. And as such, this creates a huge problem for them in building the IMEC through Palestine to Haifa. Especially since the resistance fighters through the entire middle east violently oppose the west's imperialism.
So something must be done. Again, we refer back to calling Anyone who questions Israel as an antisemitic terrorist as justification for killing Palestinians en masse. And for the ones they can't justify killing? Moving them.
Meaning that yeah. They planned for that, too.
And not even in secret.

But that they are intentionally instigating and provoking action in the middle east.

project2025 ALSO outlines every single group the USA sees as terrorists in the USA and also outlines how each country who provides them shelter should be stripped of aid.
They have already found and written excuses for the USA to get away with collective punishment across the whole middle east.

Netanyahu also made clear he wanted Israel to retain overall security control after any conflict “with the ability to go in whenever we want in order to kill terrorists”. “There will be no Hamas. There will be no civilian authority that educates their children to hate Israel, to kill Israelis, to destroy the state of Israel. There can’t be an authority there that pays the families of murderers. There needs to be something else there,” he said.
Another puppet government that'll agree to do whatever Israel (and the USA) says, perhaps?

What’s the Philadelphi Corridor?
The Philadelphi Corridor, also known as the Philadelphi Route, is the 14km (8.7-mile) long strip of land that represents the entirety of the border area between Gaza and Egypt.
It was established as a buffer zone controlled and patrolled by Israeli armed forces as part of the 1979 peace treaty with Egypt that ended Israel’s occupation of the Sinai Peninsula and reopened the Suez Canal.
Its stated purpose was to stop weapons and material from reaching the hands of Palestinians inside the Gaza Strip, which Israel occupied, and to prevent people from moving between the Palestinian lands and Egypt without tough checks.
“It must be shut. It is clear that any other arrangement would not ensure the demilitarisation that we seek,” Netanyahu said on Saturday, also signalling the war may last many more months.
Where does Egypt stand on this?
In 2005, Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip under international pressure and instead turned the densely populated Palestinian land into the world’s largest open-air prison.
Egypt became the main player in control of the corridor, which signifies the only link with the outside world not controlled by Israel – as Tel Aviv maintains a land, sea and air blockade of the strip from all other sides.

For me 1984 was a bit of a wonder year, including spending much of the summer in Europe, mainly France. We rented a borie near the town of Saint-Jean-du-Gard in the Cevennes, about 60 km from Nîmes, and took advantage of the summer to attend various cultural events nearby including the opera staged in the Roman era arena. "Aïda" was perfect for the staging, complete to the use of camels and other animals. The opera had been written to celebrate the opening of the Suez Canal, and it was intended for outdoor performance.

The Cutty Sark
She was built in Dumbarton (Scotland) on the River Leven at the Scott & Linton shipyard for the London shipowner John Willis as a tea clipper (the last of her kind) and was launched on 25 November 1869. Her motto on the bow: "Where there's a Willis a way - Where there's a will is a way" - a pun on the name of the shipowner Willis, who always wore a tall white top hat. Scott & Linton, who had agreed a price of £16,500 for the ship, had to declare bankruptcy at the end of the construction period - the Cutty Sark was their only large ship ever built. The shipyard William Denny and Brothers completed the construction.

Initially, the clipper was used in tea transport until 1877. The ship never won any of the famous tea races, partly because of the prudence of her captains G. Moodie and F. W. Moore. After the opening of the Suez Canal (17 November 1869), tea transport was taken over by steamships, which made the sea route from Shanghai through the Suez Canal to England in 42 days, while the Cutty Sark needed 102 days for the journey around the Cape of Good Hope.

Later she sailed as a tramp steamer with various cargoes. After a hard time between 1877 and 1882, the Cutty Sark became the fastest sailing ship of her size and time with wool cargoes around Cape Horn in 1885 under her 7th and longest serving Captain Richard Woodget, setting several records and also beating her old rival Thermopylae.

Captain Woodget first had the spars and mainmast shortened around the skystay and also removed all the leeward sails that were not needed for the voyages in the Roaring Forties, which made it possible to reduce the crew from 28 to 20 men. Once he was satisfied with the altered rig, Woodget set off with the ship on his first voyage to Australia, running the ship for ten years and making her famous.
Sold in 1895 for £2100 to the Portuguese shipping company "J. A. Ferreira & Companhia" and renamed Ferreira, she was re-rigged as a barquentine after de-rigging in 1916 near the Cape of Good Hope for cost reasons.

In 1922, she was sold to the Companhia Nacional de Navigação and renamed Maria do Amparo. In the same year, the desolate ship, coming from a repair stop in London, entered the port of Falmouth due to a storm. Retired Captain Wilfred Dowman recognised the 53-year-old ship, which he had always held in high esteem as a ship's boy, and bought her from the Portuguese owner in Lisbon for £3,750, brought her to Falmouth and restored her to her original condition with the assistance of his wife, who shared his enthusiasm for the beautiful vessel.

She served in Falmouth as a stationary training ship until 1938. In 1938, the Cutty Sark came to the Thames Nautical Training College in Greenhithe (until 1949) as a gift from Captain Dowman's widow. In 1954, the famous ship was transferred on her last sea voyage to the purpose-built dry dock in Greenwich, where she has been accessible as a museum ship since 1957.
In early October 2006, the ship was closed for extensive restoration work and was due to reopen in 2009. On 21 May 2007, a fire occurred, presumably caused by a defective hoover, which burnt out most of the hull.

Fortunately, about half of the ship's equipment - for example, the masts and steering wheel - had been removed from storage at the time because of the work, and 19th century teak (worth £400,000) provided for restoration purposes had not yet been installed. Nor was the steel skeleton completely destroyed by the fire. Thanks to these circumstances, her complete restoration was possible; the ship was reopened on 25 April 2012 in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. On 18 October 2014, the ship was damaged by a fire on deck and was also restored. Since then, she can be visited again in her usual dock.
