How to properly enrich your dinosaurs genetically engineered monsters so they don’t breach containment

Velociraptors

I feel like they were on the right track in Jurassic World letting the raptors chase the pig and training them tricks to keep their brain stimulated, but they didn’t take it far enough. Give them puzzles to work out for treats. Large scale versions of the ones they use for cats and then eventually move on to toddler puzzles once they’ve clearly mastered the cat ones. You will have to move on from the toddler puzzles so I recommend hiring a professional puzzle maker. Do not make an escape room puzzle. You do not want your raptors thinking about escaping places. We want them to have enrichment so they don’t want to escape, but if you give them a pretend escape room they’re going to see their enclosure as a new level.

Tyrannosaurus Rex

Honestly I don’t know if we have enough of their behavior patterns to accurately predict what their enrichment needs are. We do have Dr. Grant stating that they want to hunt instead of being fed, but if we’re counting Camp Cretaceous in our lore here (which I am), they will also eat food that’s been left for them, which is actually accurate to real t rexes as they would hunt prey and scavenge. But in lieu of any other potential avenues for enrichment I’d say better to let Rexy hunt. You might just have to focus on keeping your fence going with backups upon backups and systems that can’t be shut down by a single person. Spared no expense my ass

Spinosaurus

We also don’t see enough of the Spinosaurus to predict her enrichment needs, but I think a solidly land based enclosure was a mistake. Her enclosure should look a bit closer to that of a turtle’s but on a much larger scale obviously. I’d say also to build her enclosure away from other predators as she seems to seek out fights for fights sake, though this behavior could be attributed to boredom and potentially could be avoided with proper enrichment, but aside from allowing her to hunt we don’t have any indication from canon as to what she would need to properly stimulate her. I think perhaps you could try the puzzles from the velociraptors on a scale appropriate for her as she does peel open an airplane for “treats”. Most importantly though don’t do fucked up experiments on her to give her a personal vendetta against humans.

Dilophosaurus

Okay, I know we see even less of them than we do rexy or the Spinosaurus, but I think we get a little more here. Frilled lizards exist and I think we can carry over their enrichment over to the dilophosarus which means giving them places to hide and things to explore. Also I think they’d go crazy over a lazer pointer so maybe get one that’s on an automatic system that they can turn on themselves. Again, letting them hunt is incredibly important.

Pterodactyls

The birdcage is a good idea, but poorly executed in canon. Yeah I get they want the guests to see as much as possible, but glass? Cmon. The birdcage in JP3 is much better, though obviously keeping up maintenance is absolutely crucial. I would say though to make some tunnel things that are actually meant for them and little structures they can hop on like when they were chasing Eric. Also probably get birds to use as prey for them so they can get some real exercise in.

Mosasaurus

Listen. I’m gonna be honest here and say I have no fucking idea how to properly enrich sea creatures. The only thing I can say is that the lagoon isn’t big enough. For an orca maybe, but for that giant?? Absolutely not. In fact, making an enclosure properly sized for the mosasaur would likely involve less building an enclosure and more fencing off a significant portion of the ocean. And on top of that, the potential consequences of the mosasaurus getting loose are far worse than any other animal in Jurassic Park/World. Yes the land based carnivores can kill millions, but if the mosasaurus reached the open ocean the impact it would have a devastating impact on the environment as it would be the absolute apex predator with nothing on earth capable of stopping it but it’s eventual death.

Herbivores

I’m not going to go into herbivores enrichment as they’re not a huge problem in canon, buuut I think letting guests just walk freely among them was not the move. Just because they’re not interested in eating people doesn’t mean they’re not interested in killing people. The gyrosperes were a step up from the jeeps, but I’d say still pushing it. The zip line in Camp Cretaceous actually seems like the best idea canon has for guests viewing the herbivores, but I would recommend at least daily if not twice daily maintenance checks. Also don’t put fuckin poisonous plants where they can be found by the herbivores. I know they “don’t eat them” but it’s too risky in case they do eat them. At best you’re looking at the world’s most expensive vet bill, but at the most realistic you’re burying them because there just aren’t any vets trained to treat dinosaurs and know their biology well enough to help them get better.

Indominus Rex

I’d love to start this out by saying not to genetically engineer monsters, but as Doctor Wu points out “nothing in Jurassic World is natural” so instead I’d say pay better fucking attention to what genetics you’re splicing together and listen when your mad scientist tells you you’re going too far. Genuinely, the indominus Rex as is could not be properly enriched. You cannot make the genetic combination you made and successfully stimulate the resulting animal you have to change the dna used.

Sure you could try socializing her with other dinosaurs, but given she ate her twin I don’t think that’s going to go well. Yes, you could also try having her imprint on a human, but that would require a human being to be much closer to her than is safe. The raptors give Owen shit and try to eat him when he saves the boy from them, imagine that but on a massive scale. It’s not pretty. Given her raptor dna I think this is another situation in which the puzzles would be a good idea, but it wouldn’t be enough to make up for poor socialization.

Indoraptor

Don’t fucking make a dinosaur specifically for killing other human beings what the fuck is wrong with you??

But let’s say you did make Indy with the same genetic code. Given the fact our boy Indy is on a much smaller scale, I think socialization could actually work here. The same tactics applied to the raptors would likely work here as well. Let him actually be raised by his mother and don’t abuse him???

Scorpius Rex

No. Unlike the indominus who most likely can’t be enriched or socialized properly, there is no proper way to enrich or socialize this animal. It’s safer and more humane to leave them on the drawing board.

Closing Notes

All of the information here would not actually be accessible until after the parks have been made and subsequently destroyed, but I feel hiring an animal behavioral expert and a proper expert on animal enrichment would lead to much better solutions than canon seemed to have in place. Also I will note that without Scorpius Rex, the indominus Rex and the Indoraptor wouldn’t exist in the first place nor would we have any way to tell in advance that the Scorpius would turn out so unstable so its existence is a bit of an inevitability, and therefore the indominus Rex is also an inevitability as again, they wouldn’t know ahead of time how impossible it would be to socialize and enrich the animal. The events of Jurassic World and Camp Cretaceous occur as in canon. However with the Indoraptor we could take the information we gained from working with the raptors and seeing the indominus in action to properly socialize and enrich it. The events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom could potentially be avoided.

Additionally the care for actual dinosaurs would probably be different than these as again Ingen’s genetic engineering made vastly different creatures and I only took proper dinosaur behavior into account where it matched with the behavior of the Jurassic dinosaurs.

I’m literally just some guy with a hyperfixation making some guesses. There’s almost definitely more possibilities for these animals’ mental health that a real professional could list, but these are just my thoughts based on what we see in canon.

summary: you train and take care of the raptors on Isla Nublar alongside your husband, Owen. you found out you were pregnant very recently, and have a little trouble letting him know. typical Jurassic World chaos ensues, making it even harder.

Watching your husband work was, debatably, your favourite pastime. The way his (ahem, your) raptors seemed to respond to his every command made it seem as though they were a band of puppies-in-training, rather than bio-engineered animals from 65 million years ago that could definitely rip you to shreds in a heartbeat.

Your hand subconsciously moves to cradle your lower stomach as Delta catches the rat Owen throws down to her. You’d found out you were pregnant a little over two weeks ago. You were thankful you weren’t showing as of now; you didn’t know how to tell Owen just yet.

Dusting his hands off on his already muddy trousers (thank god he wore the brown pair today), he looks over in your direction, eyes searching briefly before landing on your serene form. A soft smile stretches across both of your faces as you move towards one another.

Gentle greetings are whispered into your hair as he pulls you in for a too-short hug. "How long were you standin' there for? Should've waited in the shade, love." His hand moves up to your forehead, blocking the noon's blinding sunlight from your eyes.

You swat his hand away in feigned irritation, "Only for an hour or two; not like that's ages in this heat or anything..." You pout slightly and tilt your head up towards him in a silent plea for a kiss.

Owen dips his head down to meet you halfway, pecking your lips in an attempt to kiss your pout away. "Don't pout, love. You know my heart can't handle it." 

"Maybe I should pout every hour of every day if it gets me kisses from you," you say defiantly, before standing on your tiptoes to pull him in again.

Owen laughs, the hearty kind that makes your heart swell, “You’d get kisses from me regardless. You do!”

You’re interrupted by the clank of a pair of boots on the metal of the catwalk. Barry marches towards you, frown dragging on his face, "Hate to be that guy, but Hoskins wants to talk. Again."

"For the last time, Hoskins, they're not weapons! They're living, breathing, walking animals. They're in my care, and no way in hell am I letting you touch them!" Owen's face is scrunched up in anger and frustration as his conversation-turned-argument grows more heated. The light grey material of his athletic shirt gradually darkens as his sweat collects from his training with the raptors along with the undoubtable irritation he felt. You opt to retreat to the shade of the cage – despite wanting to calm Owen down, you knew he was much too passionate about the wellbeing of the raptors to be talked down at this point. Plus, it was Hoskins; the man annoyed you with his mere presence within a five mile radius. It wouldn’t hurt for him to get a lecture from the man you loved.

Leaning against the bars of the opening to the enclosure, you find a brief moment of solace from the cool material of the metal. You knew you were safe from any too-close experiences with the raptors as they had retreated to the shelter of the trees as soon as their session with Owen ended. You close your eyes, attempting to focus on the sounds of nature around you rather than the still ongoing argument a few feet away. Your trance is broken when the crunch of dry leaves sounds from behind you. A swift turn towards the direction of the noise alerts you of Blue's presence. Your lips involuntarily pull into a smile; ever since you'd gotten suspicious of a potential and literal human growing in your belly, Blue had grown more affectionate with you. Her eyes lingered a little longer on you when Owen called for her attention with his clicker, and she would always gravitate towards your spot on the catwalk mid-training. A low purr echoes from her throat as she attempts to squeeze her snout in between the much too narrow bars of the enclosure. Breathing out a laugh, you slowly move your hand towards her, just out of reach enough that she wouldn't be able to actually hurt you. Blue's jaws open in a low purr once again, razor-sharp teeth on display. You could probably see remnants of her last meal in there if you looked hard enough. The tip of her snout just manages to meet your fingertips, and you couldn't help but coo at the slight nuzzling movement she makes towards them. "Cutie... think you're some big, tough dino, huh?" You mumble under your breath, entertaining her for the briefest of moments before retracting your hand.

"Whatcha doin' there, sweetie? I walk away for a second and you get too close to Blue again," Owen's voice draws from behind you, prompting you to turn towards him, "I know you think they're cute, and I find that cute, but they can still rip your arm off in a literal millisecond."

"Oh, hush. I'm just missing her, is all. Haven’t seen her in a while. And, actually, you were away for about," you feign a look down at your empty wrist, "100 hours?" You smile, moving to circle your arms around his waist, drawing him close. You tried to subtly move the both of you away from the cage to draw Owen's attention away from your interaction with Blue, who was still following your actions like a wide-eyed child. Owen glanced behind you for a second before his eyes fell on you again. He had definitely noticed a change in your interactions with the beta in the last few weeks; despite you being co-alphas with Owen (admittedly not an official term), Blue still paid more attention to Owen than she did you. Lately, it seemed, your mighty alpha-of-a-raptor-pack husband was reduced mere background noise whenever you were around. He noticed the way Blue would look at you whenever you moved from one place to another, as if she was making sure you got to your destination safely, even if it was just a few steps away. 

He pushes the thoughts to the back of his mind, not wanting to overthink. Just as his mind jumped to thinking about lunch, a white SUV pulls up to the small clearing outside the enclosure. Curious and a little cautious after Hoskins's visit, both you and Owen step towards the vehicle, only to break out in smiles when you see your good friend, Claire, step out of it. 

"Claire!" You jogged up to her, giving her a short hug. "What brings you to this area? I thought you were working in those big, shiny offices now."

She smiles at your faux insult, "Hey, Y/N. And so what if I do? Can't visit my two closest friends?"

"More like your two only friends." Owen jokes, bringing her into a hug as well. Claire narrows her eyes into a mock-glare.

“I do love to be insulted by the two of you – constantly.” She smiles warmly before straightening herself up again – business mode. “I need you both to come with me. Mr. Masrani needs the enclosure for the new asset- the Indominus," she corrects herself as soon as she notices Owen raise a brow at her diction, "inspected. Come with me?" She gestures towards her car.

"Owen and I can make our own way over, actually. Give us a few minutes to wrap things up here and we'll follow you, yeah?" You say, partly because you want to spend more alone time with your husband, and partly because you really didn't want to get caught in the middle of any unresolved tension between him and Claire.

"Yeah, of course. I'll wait here." Claire leans against her car, already pulling out her phone. Conference call, probably.

"Ready to see the Indominus, my love?" You glance over to Owen, who is currently muttering under his breath about not being able to 'catch a break on this goddamned island', which prompts a laugh from you.

"What kinda stupid name is 'Indominus', anyway?"

Jurassic Emblem-Chapter 1

Blucina, the adorable ship between two velociraptors. (^ u ^) And you thought you were expecting someone different. Anyhow, read on!

  The sun was quite warm but it wasn’t so hot that it roasted your skin. The air was quite nice, the weather mild. The perfect day to be out.

 And out indeed, were two blue velociraptors relishing a relaxing lunch break on the river-bank beneath the bridge connecting to Askr. Lucina, the raptor with a tear-drop pupil in her right eye, was eating strawberry gelato. Blue, the dinosaur with amber eyes and the blue ahoge, was munching on goat’s thigh.

“It’s really wonderful to spend with you, Sole Survivor,” Lucina said, warmly placing her hand on Blue’s. “Out of all the Heroes in Askr Castle, none of them,not even my father, are as relatable to you.”

“And I suppose it’s a very good thing I found a fellow pack member who is strog-willed and fierce,Future Witness.” Blue replied back. “I haven’t had this much fun with a sister since the JW 2015 Incident on Nublar.”

“Well, you are in good hands. Sole Survivor, as long I have you, and as long as you have me, we will destroy any obstacle that impedes us.”

“You make it sound as though we’re villains.”

 Lucina laughed. “Oh you!”

 When Blue was first summoned to Askr, she had very little comprehension of the humans and creatures that lived there. Upon seeing the huge wyverns that soldiers rode on and the gigantic, terrestrial leafy sea-dragons that spewed out liquid flames and electrical shocks out of their throats, Blue felt lost, truly lost.    It  was like being a small child wandering around a mall, she thought. As a pack animal, Blue was for a while edgy and anxious. The leafy sea-dragons and giant fluff-doves that flew around the place attempted the comfort the lone raptor, and their efforts were rewarded with slash wounds and bite marks all over their bodies. It wasn’t until after a certain sky-blue songstress calmed the raptor’s nerves down did she analyzed over and over that no one inside the castle was really a threat. Hell, when Blue met the fluff-doves and sea-dragons she nearly assumed that bastard Dr. Henry Wu had set up base in this place, raping the fabric of DNA and mutating dinosaurs here and there.

 The next time I see that ass-hat geneticist, I’ll rip his intestines out, Blue muttered to herself, grimacing at the memory of a white, red-eyed, mangled-tooth father-f*cker and being locked up in a cage underneath Lockwood Manor.

 Then as if to heed her cry, another raptor appeared in Blue’s vicinity. The other raptor appeared somewhat normal, save for a tear-drop pupil in her right-eye and the lack of a balancing tail  parallel to the ground. Blue later came to know that this other dinosaur went by the name Lucina.

 And Lucina was indeed the pack member that Blue longed for, to fill in the void left by the untimely deaths of her sisters.It was Lucina that bonded with Blue to ease her anxiety and to guider her way through a strange and unfamiliar world where dinosaurs, witches, and knights reign supreme.

 She was finishing off the rest of her gelato. “Say, Sole Survivor,” Lucina asked. “You know how rumors have an odd way of becoming true?”

“What of it, Future Witness? Rumors can’t be true unless they have solid evidence to back them up.”

“Hear me out, for this might have to do with you,” Lucina looked around to be certain no one was eavesdropping. “There have been reports of a group of lizards popping up here and there”

Blue nearly burst out her goat meat from laughter. “Lizards you say? There’s about 6,000 species of lizards in the world. Of course there’s going to be the scurrying lizard here and there, everywhere.”

“I’m not talking about those tiny fly-eaters from dart from bush to bush,” Lucina corrected. “I was more referring to giant lizards, standing on their hind legs and balancing on stiff tails, kind of like you.”

Blue perked up.

“And from the news bulletin, there was a quite disturbing case in which a eight-foot saurian with purple V-shaped crests has entered the castle’s nursery and ate a newborn infant.”

 “Do you mean to say that my kind are infamous for eating babies? I mean, eggs are yummy, but I don’t think I can bring myself to devour an actual child.”

“Not to mention the fact that local villagers and farmers are complaining to Queen Henriette on how a trio of green-brown lizards have been eating crops of kale and agama beans, as well as chickens.”

Blue eyed Lucina intensely, feeling she already knew the answer. “How big were those lizards?”

 Lucina shrugged. “Well, from the descriptions given by the farmers, they are about your height, six-feet tall, long stiff tails, and long pointed snouts, not unlike that of wyverns-”

 Blue stood up. Having finished her meal, she left hurriedly to the castle-gates. “I do not know if dreams actually do come true, but something tells me it might be the case.” 

 Lucina was stunned at the speed in which the raptor left. Then too, did she ran off.

MOD Review: Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

(Warning: This contain spoilers so please avoid spoilers if you haven’t seen the movie or play the game)

So Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom came out and my friend see this movie and he said “it’s guchi” and me watch the movie and it’s actually really good. But before me and my friend watch this he told me with that the movie is like The Lost World and I actually agree with him it is like Lost World! Hearing that blow my mind but then watching the movie it’s just so good. Also TBH everytime I watch Jurassic Park movie series I usually call out who’s gonna die in the movie which is kind of fun spotting who is gonna die in the movie. Each scene in the movie is really good and things I might remember (*gross sobbing*). 

And now for the story:

(Before getting to this this involves Site B which said that the Site B is gone and half of all dinosaurs on there are gone too even the Spinosaurus due to climate changes. Which all the Dinosaurs are transfer to the park.)

It start off with two guys in the submarine scavenging the Indominuis Rex skeleton in the Mosasaurs den which they got the sample and die from the Mosasaur. While the other team above with the helicopter got the sample and the engineer yellow jacket guy trying to close the den and calling the marine guys but as Rexy came he did the most dumbest thing. He screams and run instead of standing still or something but he manage to escape when he catch the ladder of the helicopter. But nope the Mosasaur comes in and eat the yellow jacket dude and he didn’t close the den making it able to escape. Meanwhile news is broadcast the island saying the volcano is gonna blow up and destroy the whole island and the dinosaurs too and people are protesting the government to save the dinosaurs which they are refusing. Which is where Jeff Golblum comes in and take his shirt off to show his sexy body to the audience (that didn’t happen sorry lol). JK he comes in to tell them that the dinosaurs also have rights to live because they’r here before us and this is their world to live in. Claire return to join her team to free the dinosaur alongside with a hacker dude and vet girl (i don’t know much their names so i just calling them Vet and Hacker). The tv bring news that government made new rule if anyone bring them here will be punish which is dumb cause there also flying lizard dinosaurs that can live (lucky dinos).

Claire got a call which bring good news as she visit John Hammonds friend or relative big house. (RIP Richard Attenborough) She is brought with good news that John friend Benjamin found an island where the dinosaurs can be free to roam on and call it home and his assistant Mills tell Claire that Blue is still alive and is the last of her species (RIP Echo, Charlie, and Delta) and she need someone who can get her back calm and nice with out force. This bring or show Maisie who is grandaughter of Benjamin daughter who die in a car crash which she tells her grandpa what her mom was like but he never told her yet. So she goes to Owen who is building a house (which good construction) and try to convince him to come and get Blue and all dinosaurs off the island but he refuse and tell her to let Blue die which shock her as she leaves. This cut to the scene where Owen in his RV watching old videos of him and the baby raptors which he miss them all so much so he he change his mind and decided to come along with the gang to get Blue back. They got to the island with some solider alongside to help out too as we get a heartwarming moment as Vet sees one (maybe) her favorite dinosaur the Brachiosarus (This bring me memories back to when I was like very young I always wanna see a dinosaur like real dinosaurs come to life). As Hacker got to one of the building vents he got the powers on and trackers of all dinosaurs located on the map. Owen, Vet, and some soldiers go to get Blue while Claire and Hacker stay and look at the map giving them information on Blue while soldiers are out there getting dinosaur. As that happening the volcano is getting active so they’re going fast as they can till Owen found Blue. During this the soldiers reveal their true colors which turns out they’re here for Blue for something else. 

As they tranq both Blue and Owen except one bullet in Blue body the Vet said she won’t live if she doesn’t get treated so she help them to bring Blue back to life as the Volcano began to act up shaking the island and unleashing lava. Owen laying on the ground and getting licked by a Pachyrhinosarus and escaping the lava by dragging his body away Claire and Hacker escape from the Baryonox (Not Rexy) out of the ladder tunnel door thing. This is when Owen runs to them yelling to run as a stampede of dinosaurs are running away from the volcano. The gang found a gyrosphere to get into but Owen didn’t get in when a Carnotaurus comes int to find something to eat before it dies but fights another dinosaur and got beaten by it. Rexy came in to stop the bull horn dinosaur to tel it to stop and just run away. As the Claire and Hacker are stuck in the gyrosphere in the water Owen came to get them out before they drown inside of it and Claire learn all of this is a lie and someone has betray them. But then seeing Rexy and the Baryonox carrying away they follow and seeing they’re getting their teeth and putting them in cages on the ship. As they got onto the ship as the volcano erupts they notice a cry in a distance as they lost the Brachiosarus who was running on the docks crying and begging to them to come back as it dies with the island making this scene actually sad.

As the Vet try to recover Blue wounds she ask them to get a blood doner which they turn to Rexy but Claire and Owen woke her up as they’re getting blood from her.  They got Blue the blood and the bullet out of her as to Maisie who discover the lab which show Owen with the raptors which she really likes and somewhat following what the raptors are doing. But learn that Mills is making a new hybrid call the Indoraptor which she was scared when seeing it and was lock in her room. Owen and Claire are on investigation to find out what they’re doing with the dinosaurs but was than caught and cage with the other dinosaurs and it turns out Mills is using this to get more money. As rich people came Mills kill Benjamin and Maisie escape her room finding out Mills kill her grandpa and seeing picture of her mom (I think). As dinos getting sells Owen and Claire escape with a help of a headbutting dinosaurs busting through the wall and cage too. But later meet Maisie who is sad that her grandpa pass away and show both Claire and Owen what Mills has made. Turns out the Indoraptor is only train and made for just killing if you have a lazer pointer to target at meaning this thing is just a murderous cat prototype. But as one of a familiar soldier tranq it in it’s cage and try to pull it’s teeth out he got his arm ripping off and this thing smiled as it was tricking him thinking it was asleep. Which than escape and kill 5 rich people and some soldiers too. When the gang try to escape Mills got frustrated and tell her that Maisie is actually Benjamin daughter brought back to life like the other dinosaurs till the Indoraptor came and killing the soldiers. This lead the Indoraptor to chase Owen, Claire, and Maisie the whole time which chase Maisie more. While thats happening Blue is feeling all better still cage up as both Hacker and Vet let Blue escape and kill the scientist who made the Indoraptor and 2 soldiers as three of them escape from the explosion but gas are being release to the cages which can kill the dinosaur if they don’t get out before the gas slowly kills them. We then learned that the Indoraptor can also open doors too as it creeping it’s long arms to Maisie but Owen come to shot it but trying to pretend it’s wounded it show that it’s kill is actually bulletproof as bullets just drop off the surface.  

Blue comes in to save the day instead which some how Blue kick the shit out of this hybrid ass out of the window which is like holy shit did Rexy have steroids in her blood when donated to Blue. Claire came back with the lazer pointer as it trick the Indoraptor be stuck on not strong glass as Blue jump on it and killing it with the Triceratops skill horns making it a cool death scene. But Vet and Hacker found them to tell them that the dinos are gonna die if they don’t open the gates which will let them all loose to the wild. Claire doesn’t want to like release them to the wild and let them die but Maisie decided no they deserve to live and open the gate which is good choice TBH. As dino escape and Mills got tear in half from Rexy and Carnotaurus Blue leave Owen saying “she doesn’t want to be held captive I want to be free”. After all that Jeff Golblum tell them all that everyone is welcome to Jurassic World meaning now all dinosaurs are now everywhere as Rexy broke into the lion cage meeting the present day King, Mosey about to eat some surfers, and Blue running and now free traveling the world now seeing what the world is like now. And also Owen and Claire now taking care of Maisie. 

So that’s JW Fallen Kingdom and I might give this one uhhh... 7.5/10

The movie is good and it might be better than the first Jurassic World. Even though this is like Lost World it still good and the characters are interesting and Jeff Golblum taking off his shirt cause it’s getting hot in the movie (JK again lol). One thing that got me like point down is some of the people are dumb to know what to do when they see a T Rex, They should have learn what they’re doing with hybrid dinosaurs, THEY LEFT BRACHY ALONE ON THE ISLAND QAQ BRACHY NOOOO, and not training the Indoraptor very well.

The new hybrid Indoraptor is very interesting which seeing it gave me some horror movie monster vibes and it’s personality like tricking it’s asleep and dead is like a smart move but training it to just kill with a lazer pointer is just dumb it can still kill you with out the lazer pointer! I know it’s just a prototype but geez some the people didn’t learn what happen to the Indominuis Rex.

What I can say about this movie is it’s really good and I like i. The characters are good, seeing Blue alive still is good, and just watching it still bring back memories like when I was a kid I want to see real dinosaurs and I have feel that what the movie like giving us like the feeling and nostalgia it has onto us and that poaching is bad again.

Charlie is indignant over the Irex treatment because for one, her fire-sacs are under-developed and malformed which is a clear sign of neglect/abuse in dragons

And the enclosure is far too small for any creature such a size! And don't you now that dragons NEED a large body of water to cool off due to their fire-sacs naturally rising their temperature?!)

Nyodrite: Basically Charlie saves the day, adopts a kid, scolds everyone for their treatment of his baby and makes Owen crush on him due to it

Owlgirl: Everyone is running around screaming and shooting her and Charlie walks up and is like "oh sweetie, you are beautiful. What hurts? Oh, you poor thing."

Owlgirl: The Costa Rica Chameleon, a highly varied and adaptable species, named for their ability to perfectly mimic their surroundings. They are found through the tropics, though they were first discovered on the island of Costa Rica.

Though they range from lizard like in appearance, to plumage reminiscent of a tropical bird, studies and charms have show they are all part of one large ranging family. They are clutch orientated, needing socialization early on through their entire lives.

Nyodrite: Ooh, tell me more. Are they nesters, burrowers, nocturnal, live in family groups or larger clan-like groups?

Owlgirl: My brain latched onto Gray because he honestly looks more like her and to me Clair just doesn't seem like the type to want kids. She likes them but has this problem where she treats them like tiny adults and she knows she can't raise a kid properly like that.

Nyodrite: Maybe that can be a reason why she doesn't know much about them? She started bonding with bb!gray and felt guilty about it - both giving him up and 'stealing' her sister's son?- and kind of cut as much contact as she could

Nyodrite: Also, since I'm seeing this pairing as a triad - Claire/Owen/Charlie - where only Calire/Owen ever becomes sexual AND that Zach and Gray are kind of adopted...

Nyodrite: ...because Charlie is hella fond of kids after so many younger siblings/their friends/niblings and decides they're now his (now I want another AU of Charlie just sticking with/looking after the Mitchells during the IRex incident)....

Owlgirl: They live in large clan like groups, though small families have been found they're rare. They nest high up in trees and spend most of their time up in trees. They're about the size of a house cat fully grown and eat mostly birds, small vertebrae and fish. They climb more than they fly, and their wings are reminiscent of a flying squirrel, a stretch of skin under strong front arms, used for gliding between trees or to the ground. They are most active at dawn and dusk.

Nyodrite: ...plus their Claire's relatives and the boys kind of latched onto Owen so it's just "oops we haven't really talked about it but I guess we have two kids?"...

Nyodrite: ...AND WHERE I WAS TAKING THIS WAS: Charlie introducing everyone to his family and Molly is beside herself with glee over Charlie having human kids (knitting sweaters fir dragons is very challenging).

Owlgirl: They send out Christmas cards, with a picture of the four of them and the dragons and the first. They get 600 howlers demanding to know when they got married. Half of them are from Molly

Nyodrite: ...when Charlie visits, a clan of them invade his hotel room and make it their nest and he feeds them and keeps in a giant cuddle pile and nothing you say can convince me otherwise

Owlgirl: WHY WOULD I WANT TO CONVINCE YOU OTHERWISE OMG THAT'S ADORABLE

Owlgirl: There are spats over who gets to sleep in Charlie's hair

Nyodrite: Half of that half is because sometimes it's Claire taking the picture and sometimes it's Owen and Molly is just! WHICH ONE DID YOU MARRY CHARLIE!? ARE THEY THE ONES MARRIED!? EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IS GOING ON???!?

Nyodrite: The alpha drapes itself over Charlie's neck, both as a sign of trust and protectiveness as anything going for Charlie's throat has to go through IT first

Nyodrite: Charlie spends one of his days during his visit chasing a group of younglings who decided to explore the park during the day - shenanigans as he attempts to hid the fact that there are WILD MAGICAL animals running around

Owlgirl: WHICH ONE DID YOU MARRY? ARE /THEY/ MARRIED? DID YOU MARRY THEM BOTH? CHARLES WEASLY I DID NOT RAISE YOU TO BE A HOMEWREAKER! not that I think you would darling you all look wonderfully happy in those photos. DID YOU MARRY BOTH OF THEM? ARE THEY SAME PERSON? I'm dreadfully sorry if you're a metamorphmagus darling, terribly sorry for this misunderstanding. CHARLIE WEASLY YOU GAVE ME GRANDCHILDREN AND DIDN'T TELL ME!

Owlgirl: Shenanigans

Nyodrite: That first howler though, if that is the first, would be amazing to imagine because what if the others are there when it starts yelling at Charlie

Nyodrite: And he's just sitting there, used to it after Hogwarts (its an unspoken tradition between his siblings to get at least one howler during their time at Hogwarts), listening to it but the others are just

Nyodrite: WHAT IS THIS WHO IS THAT WHY ARE THEY YELLING AND CALLING YOU A HOMEWREAKER

Nyodrite: And Charlie just tells them, "That's my mom, I sent her a picture."

Nyodrite: (Zach can't help muttering to Owen, "Dragon mother-in-law.")

Owlgirl: But then she adopts them all by proxy and she becomes dragon grandma

Nyodrite: Charlie mentions Animagus off-handedly and then Gray (*cough*plus Zach and Owen*cough*) thinks that Molly can transform into a dragon

Owlgirl: *unintelligible noises* I have no idea why but I LIKE IT

Owlgirl: I feel like Charlie and Owen are that obnoxiously lovely couple

Owlgirl: Like they're not Obnoxious and they aren't big on PDA but they just are SO HAPPY together and are SO SUPPORTIVE of eachother and just so SWEET. like, you look at them and you KNOW they're in love and so happy with their reptile children

Nyodrite: I feel like the most meanigful gifts they ever gave each other was something like Owen giving a baby raptor claw that Blue out grew and Charlie giving the eggtooth of the first dragon he helped raise

Why does everybody hate Jurassic World so much?

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was released two weeks ago. It currently sits at #1 in the box office and has grossed $274,000,000 so far. Rotten Tomatoes lists a critic score of 51% and an audience score of 58%. 

If you type in this film’s name on Youtube you will get a barrage of bad reviews, claiming this film to be indescribably worse than the original. I’ve noticed that some of the primary reasons are: (like the first) 

The characters are terrible and have no progression.

The plot is terrible and does nothing original.

The CGI is terrible.

I keep hearing people saying that Jurassic World needs to just end and they should never make another movie in this franchise. Most of the people saying these things are die-hard fans of the original film. 

Now, I’m not claiming that the original film isn’t a groundbreaking piece of cinema. I’m also not saying that this movie is Shakespeare. I’m simply trying to figure out what about these two new movies has every fan so outraged. I thought they were fine films and I would actually argue that the first Jurassic World does a better job of doing what Jurassic Park did in many ways. (I understand of course that I must now be crucified for that opinion)

I’m going to address the criticisms one by one, and hopefully explain why Jurassic World in particular isn’t so bad. 

1.  The characters are terrible and have no progression:

This is a case of ignoring character progression because you’ve already decided that you don’t like a film.

Zach and Gray are two brothers who are going to Jurassic World for the weekend to be looked after by their Aunt Claire. Their mother and father are getting a divorce, and they don’t want the boys to have to be around for the proceedings. 

Gray, the younger brother, loves dinosaurs. He isn’t stupid though because he can sense that something is going on with his parents. He knows about the divorce because he found the letters in the trash. Instead of telling anyone, he tries to be strong like his big brother Zach.

Zach is a teenager who is trying to be cool and tough despite having no idea what those words mean. He’s trying to act like his parents’ divorce isn’t bothering him, when in reality, he’s just as afraid as Gray. Unfortunately, he’s too cool for that.

Claire is obsessed with her career. He doesn’t like the idea of being a typical female stereotype, and as a result, she has distanced herself from everyone who makes her feel like she in dependent. Her sister expresses that she wishes Claire would visit more and she scolds Claire for leaving Zach and Gray with her assistant instead of being with her nephews. Claire used to date Owen, a raptor trainer and all around macho man. She is attracted to Owen, but she doesn’t like him very much anymore because he IS that typical macho man and expects her to just go with it. 

Owen....has very little character arc in this film.

By the end of the movie Claire learns that her family is ultimately very important, but she does it without giving up her agency. She buckles down and saves her nephews all while wearing a pair of high heels, a clear symbol of her intact femininity while performing heroic acts which would have been relegated to a man in most other films.

Zach realizes that he needs to be there for his brother during this hard time. He also learns that being emotional is ok and that trying to be “cool” isn’t going to keep him from being afraid like everyone else. 

Gray learns to trust his brother. He gains the strength to deal with his parents’ divorce and he knows now that he will never truly be alone.

Owen.... learns very little in this film.

2. The plot was terrible and it does nothing original.

Jurassic World is based off of the principle that Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum’s character in JP) expressed in Jurassic Park. Nature can’t be contained and we shouldn’t be playing God. 

The film shows how quickly the park developers swept everything under the rug from the first park and opened the second without REALLY fixing the problems. They continued with Hammond’s misguided idea that he could just fix the problems and start over while still attempting to control the uncontrollable. 

They treated a brand new dinosaur as a piece of property and not as a living being. They built a cage for this animal and didn’t even know how big it was going to get. The put the lives of thousands of people in danger for bigger thrills because they didn’t respect the power that they were wielding. This film speaks of animal rights and of preserving the flow of nature. 

(The idea for genetically modified dinosaurs was going to be Spielberg's fourth movie anyway) The idea of creating new dinosaurs for entertainment was one that wasn’t explored in the past three films but was done very well here. The Indominous Rex was terrifying and it was interesting to see what other abilities it had. 

The film does much of what the first did but adds MORE dinosaurs and MORE thrilling set pieces. 

3. The CGI is terrible:

This is a lie. Point-blank, period. This is a lie. OBJECTIVELY the CGI in any studio film of 2018 is better than the CGI of the 90s. Technology has improved in a million different ways. Lighting is more realistic. Shadows have deeper definition. Textures are rendered at a higher resolution. There are skin and muscle simulations going on inside of the bodies of every dinosaur, making them move even closer to how they would if they existed today.

The reason the original Jurassic Park had “better” CGI is the same reason why Avatar had amazing CGI. It was the first time you had seen anything like that, and nothing that you see every day in every movie will ever take you back to the moment when you saw a T-Rex walk across the big screen. Nostalgia is a wonderful thing, but it gets in the way of reality. There is nothing wrong with loving the CGI in the original. That movie inspired me to be an animator. Facts are facts though. The new one looks more REALISTIC and you’re just not caught up in “Movie Magic” anymore because you know how it was done. (The gorilla in the original King Kong looks fake as hell but when people saw it in 1933, they didn’t know how it was done and they swore that they really created a giant ape to film.)

To wrap up, I don’t think that the movies are perfect, but from the standpoint that the first Jurassic Park was SOOOO great because it was new and had never been seen before, I feel that these movies do a better job. If I showed JW to a kid and then JP to them, I’m sure they would enjoy JW more. That’s the point. These are movies with scary dinosaurs. The first film was not a big deal for its amazing storytelling. (It changes things form the book that would have made the story so much better BTW)

I love Jurassic Park. I’m glad to see that they are making more of these movies. I watched the first film on VHS as a child and it blew me away. I know that these movies are blowing some kid’s mind right now, and that’s important in my book.
