La Squadra and Fashion Aesthetics

i originally wanted to do eras of fashion but i think a post like this works a bit better. i know so little about fashion but it was fun thinking about this lmao (also i’ve made little mood boards of what i think but some of the outfits may be on the more feminine side bc it’s hard to find more masculine things on pinterest sometimes </3 but it’s more for just the whole general idea of what i mean). i might regret making this post and it’s a little chaotic but anyway ✨ (edit: i regret it but i put too much effort into it oops) edit again: here’s the link to some more characters!

Risotto:

he’s probably one of the easier ones to think of so i’ll start with him

goth/emo vibes for sure. it’s so obvious but i had to say it

lots of chains and harnesses

lots of necklaces and random accessories too

high platform shoes and boots

layers, layers, layers

and maybe a little bit of punk but definitely more leaning on the goth side than anything

i was going to say e-girl but maybe more for the accessories than clothes lmao (i can totally imagine him feeling embarrassed googling ‘e-girl accessories’ just so he can find a nice choker or chain or something)

here’s a little moodboard! it’s not exactly what i was thinking but i’ll roll with it

Formaggio:

i wanted to say more streetwear kind of clothes for him at first but i get a bit of a punk vibe from him

spikes and chains

heavily patterned trousers

the little thing under his shirt in his design already gave me fishnet vibes so a lot of fishnet

maybe chokers too? he’d look cute in one of those

or maybe like old school avril lavigne kind of fashion

skater punk kind of fashion? i think he could skateboard lmao

Ghiaccio:

like cybercore/futuristic y2k fashion?

lots of silver, white, and blue colours

also lots of iridescent clothes and clear clothes

platform shoes? (i think he’d look good with some platform trainers or something)

i think the colour palette of this aesthetic was what reminded me of him more than anything else lmao

sporty vibes which i think works for him

also a bit of a space vibe but let’s not talk about that lmao

i don’t know what to call this but i’m gonna say colourful y2k

loose fitting shirts and sweater vests (i can’t 100% see him wearing sweater vests i’m not gonna lie)

not necessarily a whole coordinated suit thing all the time i don’t think. as long as the clothes go in some sort of way i don’t think he would mind

also wears stuff like this to ANY occasion no matter how casual or fancy the situation is lmao

maybe like a 90s grunge fashion sort of thing

plaid shirts and baggy t-shirts

i don’t have much else to say so moodboard time again (yeah most of these pictures are of nirvana i’m so sorry but it’s the only way to get across what i mean lmao)

Illuso:

i was so stuck for this guy and i wanted to say 90s grunge kind of fashion for him instead (i still think he’d look good in that but this isn’t about my illuso fantasies rn lmao) but his ugly ass duvet looking shirt reminded me of a puffer jacket so i’m going with more streetwear fashion for him

generally just loose fitting, baggy clothes

kind of looks like he didn’t make an effort even though he definitely did

comfort is the key! very comfy clothes

here’s some design process for da boi! basically it was a battle to figure out his hair, and then a mini struggle to figure out what colors i wanted his outfit to be :V

more details abt why i did what i did undercut

ok, so, as much as i loved journ’s iconic hair swoosh, it was starting to bother me that it didn’t look... somewhat possible lsdkjf. so! now it looks more like real people hair, even if its still super stylized n cartoony

hes still just as buff as he was before, he just looks a bit more lanky. fitting, i think.

his color palette was another thing that always irked me, bc the contrast between the green in his eyes and the green on his cloak clasp was... too wack for me. so! i spiffed that up!

he has all the same shades of black, with a sprinkling of gold, red, white, and the same turquoise as his eyes!

all his accessories/extra metal bits are in gold now, bc having gold and silver bothered me

he has more red bc his palette needed more red! red just being his magic color wasn’t enough if it wasn’t showing up anywhere else in his palette

hair/skin/eyes stayed the same!

his outfit is basically just a played up and fancy colored “standard” outfit from medieval time. so, like him, its like taking a farmer and making them look more dramatic and edgy. quite fitting, no?

his boots are tall again. he deserves tall boots. also yes the tops are folded over, he calls it fashion

his scepter is color adjusted to better match his new palette, but otherwise hasn’t changed

his outfit colors of shirt/tunic/pants are interchangeable, i’ve decided. the current outfit is his default. it looks less drowned in black when he’s not wearing his cape

(which he wouldn’t let me make any color but black. the edgy nerd that he is LSKDJF)

also he has eyeliner and piercings now because i said so and he looks bangin with em

𝐢𝐢 : 𝒔𝒐𝒇𝒕 𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 ⤿ she was raised to be as polite & respectful , as she would expect to be treated . by the time her father had remarried to a woman who had taken renée & her two siblings in as if they were her own , she had learned to accept people as they appeared , & this woman exuded motherly love . growing up her mind was curious & creative ; her thoughts on the stars & her imagination thinking up fictional realities that , as she grew older were a result of her real mother abandoning her at the mere age of two . but throughout all of that , she never lost her spirit ; or her belief in them .

𝐢𝐢𝐢 : 𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 ⤿ not being tethered to the promise of a duchy , she pursued her own path & began a life that was her own . she dabbled in the arts , taking up dancing but soon becoming bored & moving on to the next thing . she attempted modelling , her love for fashion taking over her love for rhythm & although it was better fitting , she found herself not suiting the life that came with it . she searched the stars for answer , but no amount of constellations nor the education she endured during her young adult life prepared her for what she wanted to do . as it happened , she did not know .

𝐢𝐯 : 𝒕𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 ⤿ floating between the life she wanted to create for herself & the life that she had left behind in france is when she met alphonse du poitiers . her father’s trust issues & her mother’s wariness of human affection in general made it feel like having the sort of relationship that would later result in a marriage was impossible for her , but it happened . she found herself comfortable in his world & forgot about where she wanted to fit for a while , but she didn’t exactly mind . if anything , she was happy with her new life & her new husband .

𝐯 : 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚 ⤿ but all things must come to an end & for her , things came to an end much too soon . alphonse’s tragic death created more grief & imbalance in her life that , at eight months pregnant , she went into labour four weeks earlier than expected . the distress the baby was under due to renée’s upset meant there were complications , & after an emergency cesarean & an awful lot of time spent in recover , she was finally allowed home with her beautiful baby girl , but life would never be the same for her .

* 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕 .

* 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒔 & 𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒔 ⤿ after the worst part of her grief was over , renée knew that she had to move on , not only for herself but for her daughter . after some careful consideration , she changed her married name back to her maiden name & is now in thailand as she knows it will be the safest place for her daughter . add that to the fact that she found herself a position as a royal’s ( 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 ! ) stylist , she’s quite settled . she still misses alphonse & is adjusting to her life as a widow , but she’s getting there & is taking each day at a time .

𝐢 : 𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 ⤿ with a strive to succeed , renée has the sort of mindset that gives her a stubborn determination to achieve whatever she wants in life . when she wants to do or be something , she has a strong desire to acquire whatever that is in whichever way possible . she’s not afraid to step on other’s toes to get ahead in life , but she has a steadfast moral code which means that she will do so only at times where it is absolutely necessary .

𝐢𝐢 : 𝒅𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 ⤿ promises are things that shouldn’t be taken for granted , & renée is a keeper of them . no matter what , she will do whatever she can to live up to her cause & dedicates herself wholeheartedly to whatever promises she’s made or commitments she’s tied to . she’s a huge believer that carrying something through is important , & is very reliant on people doing the same for her . not only that , but she’s extremely dedicated to her family & that’s something she boats proudly .

𝐢𝐢𝐢 : 𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 ⤿ she sees things in a different way to others , so her imagination takes her to places where other’s normally wouldn’t go . she loves being creative with whatever task she’s set & isn’t afraid to push the boat out & do the unexpected , which is one trait she’s carried with her since she’s was very young . renée is a very active thinker who doesn’t think that believing is seeing , which often creates a naive outlook she’s yet to overcome .

𝐢𝐯 : 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 ⤿ renée is the sort of person who will act on her emotions & allows them to guide her . she is incredibly open about what she believes in & won’t hide her thoughts or adjust her feelings to be appropriate for someone else . she’s very individualistic , & believes that being open & honest about your beliefs & desires is what will get you far . it’s worked well enough for her so far in life , so she hasn’t changed this view even if some won’t agree it’s the best approach .

𝐯 : 𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 ⤿ despite her desire to be the best she can be , renée can often be quite hesitant when making decisions , especially when it comes to her career . although her mind is constantly buzzing with ideas , she quite often doubts herself so she needs a bit of time to prepare for an event in order to choose a look she’s happy with . she’s absolutely her worst critic & never makes a final decision until the product is well received enough that she knows she can settle for it .

𝐯𝐢 : 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 ⤿ she doesn’t let it show that much , but beneath her overly confident air , renée has some deep rooted insecurity & trust issues that stem from wondering why her mother abandoned her family at such a young age . it makes her a little distrustful , not very easily letting people in & getting so close as for them to know everything about her . she often feels like whatever she does won’t be enough , but she’s fighting her hardest to overcome this due to the way it makes her feel .

𝐯𝐢𝐢 : 𝒏𝒂𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒚 ⤿ an adult ? yes . realistic ? absolutely not . renée lives under idealisms more than she does realities & quite often ends up feeling disappointed when things aren’t quite as she expected . although she knows sometimes her ideas can be a little too fanciful to even be a possibility in real life , it’s an escapism that allows her to be more creative . that doesn’t mean it doesn’t come back to haunt her , though . she’s bad a detecting liars even if her instincts tell her not to trust them .

𝐯𝐢𝐢𝐢 : 𝒗𝒖𝒍𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 ⤿ renée feels emotions intensely , especially negative ones . she is quite easily upset & although she is a huge feminist , confrontation isn’t her favourite activity & unless she has a solid case , she probably won’t pursue . she tends to take a lot if things personally & struggles with separating constructive criticism & people just being cruel . she tries not to let these sort of emotions show , but she’s generally very driven by her emotions & it affects her negatively in this way .

1. what does your muse smell like? realistically she stinks bc it’s the early 1800s and daily baths weren’t a thing yet but we say fuck realism on this blog & natasha showers. also, although she’s definitely not as much of a francophile as many other russian elites were in her time, natasha has taken a liking to some of the more french perfumes that her grandparents occasionally send her so she often smells vaguely of assorted flowers.

2. what does your muse’s hands feel like? soft-ish. she uses lotions/creams daily and doesn’t do much that involves her overworking her hands. but still she plays piano, plays rough, and does a lot of dumb stuff that would affect how her hands feel. and russia is cold, so they dry out often and probably wouldn’t be crazy soft.

3. what does your muse usually eat in a day? her family, although they are, again, russian elites, aren’t as into french culture as many other familes were. a lot of the food they ate on a normal day is traditional russian stuff with french twists so its ~fancy~– so lots of beets, starchy stuff, A LOT of tea... like samovar always open and ready, drink out of fancy samovar thats only meant to be ornamental amounts of tea. and they had money so probably a lot more meaty stuff that the average peasant/serf (i forget what they were called in russia). but when guests are over, which is rlly often, she does have a lot more of the same food and more stuff that would’ve been french so a lot of pastries... a snail maybe? pheasant? i haven’t done all my research on this but yeah. beets, starch, tea, meat, DESSERT.

4. does your muse have a good singing voice? technically it’s a flawed voice but it’s charming in a very listenable way... and mind you, she’s been taught classically, but she would very much be a novice in the realm of opera, which would have been closer the type of singing that people would expect from her. it’s not a very mature voice, which is part of the problem, and it’s not particularly high so she’s not really impressing anyone with skill, but rather with her tone and honestly her stage presence. natasha has a way of making you want to listen when she sings. so does she have a good singing voice? yeah, it’s not bad at all. but you don’t really ask natasha to sing because you think she’s going to blow you away, you ask natasha to sing because she’s a joy to watch.

5. does your muse have any bad habits or nervous ticks? natasha finds herself in a lot of. not-so-great relationships & friendships. ultimately it has a lot to do with the fact that she can be a bit of a difficult person to be in a relationship with... natasha kinda commands a lot of attention and needs a lot of confirmations that the people she surrounds herself with still love her and still want to spend time with her. and she clings to the past wayyy too much. her nervous tick is straight up crying anytime she feels anything close to nervousness.

6. what does your muse usually look like/wear? oh yeah she likes the fashionable french stuff with the super high waistlines and buns, but she likes it when her mom and sonya add russian patterns to them and make them look more folksy. she wears white because all women wore white back then, it was super in style. but she’ll also wear light & pastel versions of other colors, especially yellow, beige-ish colors. the most vibrant things you’ll see on her is flowers somewhere in her outfit or hair and the designs. this doesn’t apply to some other verses, like the modern verse, where she’s rlly into that girly instagram girl kinda dress where the clothes are all flowy and flowery and colorful, the tsarina verse where shes literally a queen so she obv. wears way more white as well as more expensive things like bright colored dresses & crowns & such, and the unofficial time travel verse that exists in my head with @tiimedtm where natasha wears jason’s clothes bc she cant wear napoleanic stuff in like. the future.

7. is your muse affectionate? how much? how so? HELL YEAH BAEBEE ITS HER #1 TRAIT. she’ll always reach for hands, faces, waists just to be touching someone. natasha’s big on eye contact too, which might be weird for some people but feels really intimate for her. she’s always gonna be the one to reach in for kisses or for a hug... almost always a little spoon & will force the other person to grab her tight but if she is a big spoon she’ll fucking suffocate someone with closeness. when natasha’s with people, she’s really with people. partly cause she’s all horned up but i’m not going into it for reasons including the law, creepiness, and also i dont want to.

8. what position does your muse sleep in? on her side depending on which is least cold, two pillows under her head, one in her arms. she used to have to share a bed with sonya so she got used to sleeping on her side because otherwise she would definitely starfish out and push sonya off the bed.

9. could you hear your muse in the hallway from another room? YES.

Ok so first off, this is them:

Tina on the left and Ophelia on the right, these are the main characters' respective paternal aunts

Ok, have some early 80's Astronomonov siblings here

Tina is Windbear's (formerly Mikhail/Misha) younger sister and I wanted to make her comically opposite to him but for it also to make sense in the context of their parents and her niece and nephew.

So Tina was always fashion-obsessed and her room was just full of teen magazines, cutouts from teen magazines she made into collages, glossy fashion magazines and notebooks filled with notes about the different designers, collections etc. She is also extremely loud (as in, can't control the volume of her voice especially when she gets excited), very blunt (like her mother) and very single-minded about whatever she sets her mind on. Her brother finds her laugh particularly obnoxious (that and she keeps calling him "Mikey" or "Mike"). All this can make her come off as ditzy but while she is a bit clueless about some things it's because she spent so much time trying to know everything about what she IS interested in. And Saved by the Bell trivia.

Since her father died she is the one who has to drive her mother places, because Nina is too short to see over the wheel and refuses to use a booster seat

She did really well in her SATs and her parents were a bit baffled why she wanted to study fashion full-time until she made an extremely detailed old-timey projector presentation about why it was a good idea and what her plans were etc. Honestly her parents were just happy she wasn't joining a cult (and knew she had the drive to succeed in whatever she put her mind to)

She eventually became a stylist to rich types, meaning she can call up couture houses and ask for loans of fancy pieces and get to touch couture in person without going extremely broke. While her personal style is extremely in-your-face she usually dresses her clients based on their own personal tastes.

Ophelia McPherson is Dexter's Dad's sister (I named him Larry in this world bc I named his brother Tom and realised he had a cousin called Dick, and someone made a Dover Boys joke which always wins me over)

Ophelia is a successful novelist who writes High Literature that wins a lot of prizes. That doesn't always translate to money but this family have trust funds so it's fine. Her books are pretty depressing (think F Scott or Zelda Fitzgerald, or Dorothy Parker) and that's because she is often depressed, especially when her mother tries to interfere in her life (which is often). Her mother wants her to be a high society It Girl type when really Ophelia is quite introverted and would rather be riding her horse around the countryside, wearing muddy boots and an ancient chunky knit sweater.

I tried to make Tom the opposite of his brother in many ways, but then have Ophelia contrast to them both so while they have a certain confidence, Ophelia is more pessimistic. Which like, I mean what did you expect naming your kid Ophelia, Bunny?

She's soft-spoken but will always stand up for her little brother even though she rarely stands up for herself.

I wanted her to have some similar interests to her niece as well, they're both sporty and love horses and have a talent for writing, but Dee Dee is much more High Femme than Ophelia who has a more casual vibe and finds dresses impractical for her day-to-day life.

The reason I drew them on the same page is bc I can't stop myself connecting the characters to one another, so when Bunny hires a stylist to help her daughter dress for a press tour - wouldn't you know it turns out to be Tina

Much wackiness ensues bc Tina is very different to the repressed super-rich Old Money people that occupy that world and tends to speak her mind a lot, which Ophelia finds refreshing. The outfit in the picture is something Tina helped her pick out after coming to the conclusion that Ophelia kind of wants to dress like a Wes Anderson movie, broadly speaking. So it's practical and not overly feminine, but dressed up as well.

I Just Haven't MET You Yet: Thoughts on the Super Bowl of Fashion

The Met Gala is the the Olympics of fashion. As my title suggests, it has been called the Super Bowl of fashion. Athletes train for years - buffed and polished to an inch of their life to go out there and achieve excellence in sport. For the Met it’s excellence in fashion. Once a year, we (or at least my mother and myself) wait with bated breath to see what everyone wears.

As many of us are currently, I am working from home at the minute - today before I started my commute (15 seconds from my bed to my desk), instead of activewear I decided to put on my designated fancy ass velvet dress I bought about four years ago that I now wear to any vaguely formal occasion (with an abundance of tape to deal w how low cut it is) - and a puffer jacket (it’s cold af in my room) to commemorate the gala.

This year’s theme was supposed to be ‘About Time: Fashion and Duration’ I googled this concept and found the following information on the Met’s website: “it will explore how clothes generate temporal associations that conflate past, present, and future. Virginia Woolf will serve as the "ghost narrator" of the exhibition.”

My thoughts on this are as follows: firstly, ‘About Time’ is a great film if you haven’t seen it. Secondly, clothes conflating the past present and future - it’s a big yes from me. Thirdly, can Virginia Woolf serve as the ghost narrator of my entire life? What an idea.

The co-chairs this year were going to be Anna Wintour, Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Nicolas Ghesquiere. I mean, that list in itself is like a dream party list because you just know you’ll be getting a Streep-Stone-Miranda musical number in between drinks and dinner. I also don’t really know what being a co-chair of the event MEANS, but I’m guessing its some kind of vague organisational role where but you defer to Anna on everything - basically a school captain and principal set up.

For those of you who want a quick crash course in the, who, the what and the why I’m even talking about this gala thing here’s the tea: The Met Gala is the annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City and marks the opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit. Vogue have just done a video to explain the history so pls get enlightened.

However if you want more than 6 minutes and 50 seconds of how it all works, look no further than the 2016 documentary ‘The First Monday in May’. The film covers the months leading up to the 2015 Gala and the night itself. The theme that year was ‘China: Through The Looking Glass’, and it was all about the impact of Chinese design on Western fashion over the centuries.

The film is a huge eye opener into the pressure, time constraints, and sheer elbow grease that goes into the event. It’s also the closest thing to The Devil Wears Prada I’ve seen since ‘The September Issue’ . Anna Wintour flits around the museum with her sunnies and her giant cup of Starbucks, and scenes of Anna’s assistant and event organisers excessively vetting people from the guest list (“Josh Hartnett? What has he done lately?”) are amazing but also can you IMAGINE watching it and seeing them bitch about you?! Quelle nightmare.

Also if you’re a nosy Parker like me fun fact you can pause on the shots of the seating charts, and see who’s sitting next to who - I managed to squint and see Baz Luhrmann next to Jennifer Lawrence, Amal Clooney next to Tom Ford, and‘Jared Leto TBC’. How ominous.

As I mentioned earlier the show I work on covers the Met Gala - and yes, thanks to the time difference ‘the First Tuesday in May’ really doesn’t have the same snazzy ring to it. So come last year we were prepared to report on it - in 2020, I recalled it fondly, and also stressfully with my bosses video calling me at 7:30 this morning to remind me it was Met Gala Day and giving me a triple bypass in the process.

From my memory, the Queen of Camp at the 2019 gala was Lady Gaga - I remember watching her pink carpet entrance at work (I was the Met Gala producer that day - definitely not a real thing) and realising that every time I looked up at my screen she had a different outfit on - I believe there were four in total, which gave me palpitations at the time as I had to have three separate slabs of overlay to show the transition between her looks - but now a full year later I can appreciate her sheer artistry.

The 2019 theme was ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion.’ The exhibit was inspired by Susan Sontag's 1964 essay that defines camp as "love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.” It’s something that Sontag describes as “esoteric - something of a private code, a badge of identity even, among small urban cliques.” It seems to me that’s the best way to describe the Gala itself? Something out of the ordinary, opulent and pretty much unattainable to normal people looking in from the outside that manages to seduce us all every year.

There were so many great looks last year I can’t possibly go through them all, so quick honourable mentions to the following: Harry Styles , Ezra Miller, Lily Collins, Irina Shayk, Kim Kardashian, and Hamish Bowles to name far too few. Also some great online stuff came out as well: this movie trailer for the event and this brilliant video showing how the Vogue social media team handled the event.

Despite all this, I have to say that yes, while the ‘Camp’ year was, indeed shit hot, and I lived for every moment of it, my favourite year was in fact 2017.

The theme was ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’, and after 13 years of Catholic education and living with a deeply religious grandmother who keeps a bunch of icons around our house I can firmly say Alleluia and Thanks Be to God. The main thing I remember from this year was this amazing video that Vogue put up (and apparently took down as I had to find it on Facebook) showing celebrities flouncing around the museum in their finery.

My friend Georgie and I were going through our favourite looks from previous years over Zoom last night, and while she had gone for looks from like 1974 to present day, literally all of mine were from 2017 bc I loved them all so much. Plus looking through I remembered that Shawn Mendes and Hailey (now) Bieber were a couple for about 30 seconds.

I must particularly make mention of Zendaya, Emilia Clarke, Greta Gerwig, Ariana Grande, Bella Hadid, Rihanna, Kate Bosworth, Blake Lively, Lily Collins, Kim Kardashian, Chadwick Boseman, Cardi B and Priyanka Chopra who, although perennially irritating since becoming Priyanka Chopra Jonas, cannot be ignored for her excellent use of red velvet here. As you can probably tell I found it REALLY hard to narrow that all down.

I am someone who decided at least five years ago that they would one day attend the gala (I haven’t quite figured out why I would be invited, but even Kim Kardashian started as a plus one so there’s hope for me yet). Every year I look at red carpet as my altar, the stars the saints and angels (yeesh, can you tell I went to Catholic school - and I actually believe this garbage). I don’t know how a short walk up some stairs to a museum became so fraught with power but there it is. Every time I go out in something approximating a ballgown (bringing it back to the red dress, people) I imagine how I would walk, who I would talk to, what my hair would look like (very important), and who I would have at my table (slightly less important than hair). And of course, addressing Anna (through her all things were made, for us and for our salvation, maker of Heaven and Earth, of all that is seen and unseen etc).

Maybe she would look at me and nod approvingly with a wry smile (please refer to the end scene of the Devil Wears Prada to see exactly how this would happen, but hopefully the smile would be a bit warmer than what you would give an ex-employee) and I would walk on, secure in the knowledge that Anna and I had connected on a deeply spiritual level. Then I imagine I would head straight to the bar to recover.
