This Ariel is a Headutt-er!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x alien!fem!reader (Mantis and Peter Quill's younger sibling)(reader is the same species as Mantis)
Warnings : A wee bit of violence
Summary: Instead of Prince Eric, it was Ariel herself who swept you off your feet.
Aurhor's note: everyone is alive in all my fics, except if a specific setting or timeline is mentioned
This is a fic requested by @fayhar ! I'm so sorry it took me so long to finish this, I got too caught up with classes. But it's summer break now and I can finally write again! Hope you like this fic! English isn't my first language so please point out the mistakes nicely, I'll fix it 🥲
Tumblr media
It all started when Yondu handed Peter a DVD that he had obtained from Earth.
The cover of the DVD box read 'The Little Mermaid' with a picture of what looked like a girl who is half Terran and half fish with bright red hair.
It was the first time the gang ever watched an animated movie during movie night and everyone had different reactions. Drax made silly comments, Rocket complained about certain scenes, Peter would place a kiss on the crown of Gamora's head during the more romantic scenes, and she would cuddle closer to him, Mantis and Groot were gushing about the little details and Nebula, surprisingly, seemed to enjoy the movie.
And you? You were enchanted by the whole thing, from the dinner scene, to the little fair date and boat ride. From all catchy songs and romantic lines to the heartbreaking conflicts ang the heroic fights.
You laughed, you cried, and you were undeniably HOOKED.
And let's just say with a little bit of begging (and using your big black puppy eyes), you managed to convince your brother to get Yondu to find more of these wonderful films.
You would consume every single thing that Yondu could get his hands on in a crazy short amount of time. Mantis would find you huddled up into a little ball on the couch in the middle of the night, eyes gleaming like a little child as you watched whatever new DVD that Yondu had gotten his hands on.
From old Disney movies like Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast, to the more modern ones like Tangled and Frozen, you had seen them all.
But alas, 'The Little mermaid' is the one that holds your heart.
And as result of all the Disney that you've been slurping up, you eventually found yourself wondering if you're going to get your happy ending.
When is a prince Eric coming to sweep you off your feet? Take you on carriage rides and dancing at carnivals? Are you even going to get a happy ending?
Your brother told you there is someone for everyone in the galaxy.
"And when you meet them.....You'll know it."
He'd said, as he looked at Gamora with a warm loving gaze.
You found it hard to believe.
You'll know it when you meet them? How???
You were skeptical.
Until one day when the Guardians got invited to a party by Tony Stark himself, did you find yourself staring at a certain woman.
It was nearly midnight, the music was still blaring loudly and you found yourself getting a little too overwhelmed, so you decided to flee the scene to catch some fresh air.
You stepped outside, eyes closed as you feel the cool wind gently brush against your skin. You had expected that the party was going to be a little too much for you, but what you hadn't expected was for there to be someone else at the balcony.
This 'someone else' was a woman, and beautiful one at that. She was wearing a black cocktail dress, the fabric hugging her body in all the right places. Her fiery red mane was curled to perfection, the luscious tendrils framed her face like puzzle pieces that fell perfectly into place.
Ariel.
That was the first word that came to your mind.
Her eyes were closed, lengthy eyelashes fluttered in the wind, and she huffed out a deep sigh, seemingly bothered by whatever it is that's on her mind.
You reached out to place a hand on her shoulder, aiming to calm her down and maybe make her feel a little more at ease with the help of your powers.
But the slight brush of your fingertips against her skin was enough to make you end up on the cold ground. With your wrists pinned to the hard surface nonetheless.
Your antennaes tensed, the gears in your head were running miles per hour, one second you were reaching out and the next thing you know you had been headbutted onto the floor into a vulnerable position.
With your mind still spiralling, you spat out the first thing in your mind.
"H-hello! A-are you Ariel?"
What?
It looked like your question had taken the woman aback, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Did this bitch with antennaes just ask her if she was a Disney character?
"Am- Am I who??"
"A-ariel?"
You had no idea what's going on, but you were somehow very, very intrigued by the woman on top of you.
The woman looked at you up and down at your attire.
Party wear.
It took her a second before she realized that you were just one of the people invited tonight, and she quickly apologized.
"Sorry about that, my fight or flight reflexes just kicked in. And to answer your question, no, I am not Ariel. "
She chuckled in amusement when she saw you slightly deflate.
"Aw... Bummer"
You had mumbled to yourself, earning another chuckle from the redhead beside you.
You both stayed silent for a while after that, blocking out the muffled music playing inside and relishing in the peaceful night atmosphere outside.
"So...You're really not Ariel?"
Her head turned to look you, elbow on the balcony railing with her chin resting on ther palm.
"Sorry to dissapoint you, but no, I'm not."
The small pout that appeared on your lips made her smile.
The both of you started to pick on some random topics to talk about. Your jobs, hobbies, crime cases, outer space, everything you could possibly imagine.
Natasha could feel the click and so could you, the both of you felt a lot more settled than expected.
"So...Are you going to tell me your name"
You paused, you had completely forgotten to tell her your name. She let out a breathy laugh as you come to the realization.
"My name's Y/n, I'm one of the Guardians."
you shyly mumbled, hand fiddling with an antennae, a sign that you're embarassed, it's a little habit you've had ever since you were a young bug.
"Y/n huh? I like that."
The way your name rolled off her lips made you slightly dizzy, it sounded good, way too good, enchanting even.
"Don't you want to know my actual name?"
Your ears perked up at that.
"It's Natasha, Natasha Romanoff."
"Wow..."
It was even prettier than you expected it to be, and it fits her a lot. Her voice kept repeating in your mind, and it won't go away.
The echo of her beautiful name.
Natasha Romanoff, Natasha Romanoff, Natasha Romanoff....
"Do you like my name that much?"
"Huh?"
"You've been saying my name in repeat for a while now."
yikes.
"And your face is all red"
double yikes.
Your antennaes drooped as you fidget in place, eyes looking anywhere but at her. Your mind was spinning, everything was going at full speed in there, you didn't know what to think, what to say, what to do, it was all so fast to the point where everything was a blur.
Seeing you panicking like this made her chuckle. Sure she knew she's got an effect on people, and she never really cared about them.
But what you're failing to see here is that you had just as much of an effect on her. The way you looked so attentively at her whenever she speaks, as if absorbing every single word with such care and warmth, the way your eyes gleam when you asked if she's Ariel, down to the way you're panicking at her teasing right now, everything about you made her feel all warm. Comfortable even.
You're odd, but it only made her want to get to know you more.
Her slender fingers reached out, gently lifting your chin to make you look at her.
"Do you know that you're very strange?"
The sensors on your head drooped even further at that, is it because you're not a Terran? Is it because you look weird and have antennaes?
"I'm sorry I'm not a terran..."
Her eyebrows furrowed.
"What?"
"I'm not like you Natasha, I'm not terran..."
You felt her hands move to cup your face, and oh how you wish you could lean on them forever.
"Y/n, you've misunderstood, I meant it in a good way, and you're strange because, well, you're you. You're unique. And it has nothing to do with having antennaes or not. Though they do add to your scale of cuteness."
She laughed as your face started to flush once more, releasing your face to lean on the railing.
You don't know if you wanna slap that cheeky grin off her lips or kiss her it off instead, but your mind was once again all hazy.
Gosh, you're down bad.
Leaning onto the railing, you closed your eyes to calm yourself down, focusing on the cool night wind blowing at your face.
It felt nice and calming. What time is it? It's probably way past midnight, and with the soft wind cradling you, your mind was starting to slowly fall into rest.
Unbeknownst to you, Natasha had her eyes on you this whole time, and your dipping head landed onto her waiting palm, stopping you from headbanging onto the railing.
She carried you as your knees started to buckle, carefully placing you on the couch in the living room. She watched over you until the guardians decided that it was time to leave, they thanked her and walked out into the night with you still fast asleep on Gamora's back.
The twinge of jealousy that appeared was something unexpected.
Why is she jealous? Was it the fact that you seem so comfortable the zenwhoberian? Was it because she wanted to be the one you snuggle into? The one you're most comfortable with?
Whatever it is, she knew she must meet you again.
You woke up in a daze the next morning. How'd you end up back in your room? Weren't you talking with Natasha?
Where's Natasha?
The sound of the door creaking open put your thoughts to a pause.
"Y/n! Breakfast is ready!"
Peter walked in with a glass of water in his hand, handing it over for you to drink.
"What's on your mind? I can see the gears in your head turning you know?"
You placed the glass down on the nightstand before turning to face you brother.
"PETER!"
"Wha- why the shout?!"
"What did you do before you married Mora?"
A blink.
Another blink.
"Oh, I proposed."
"What's proposed?"
And that's how Peter ended up telling you the whole story of him going ring shopping.
"I wanna buy a ring!"
Peter choked on his own spit. Whom for?? When did you find a lover?
"I wanna propose to Natasha!"
And the next thing he knew, he was already dragged out of the door.
The day somehow ended with you bouncing on your feet outside the avengers compound, a panting Peter Quill right behind you.
You had requested to meet Natasha, and was currently waiting for her to come down the multiple floors of the tower.
Peter was still trying to catch his breath after running around non-stop for the whole day.
"Y/n *pant* you can't just-"
He was cut off by the sound of the elevator door opening, revealing the gorgeous red-headed woman of your dreams.
"Hey Y/n, what's up-"
"Marry me!"
The whole floor went silent. Until Peter awkwardly spoke up,
"Sorry, I really tried to stop her, but she wouldn't listen."
When the redhead heard that you had come to give her a visit, she was much more excited than she would admit, her heart was pounding and she was in the elevator merely seconds after she heard the information, wanting to know why you were here again.
But a proposal from you was not something that she had expected.
"Marry me please Natasha?"
She looked at you standing there with puppy eyes, your hands presenting a red gemmed ring pop to her. This was certainly not something she gets to see everyday.
A hearty chuckle escaped her lips, and you deflated a bit, thinking that maybe she was mocking you. But your thoughts were dismissed when you feel a pair of soft lips pressed against your cheek.
"You're adorable you know that?"
You were frozen in place, did she just kiss you on the cheek?
What does this mean?
"As cute as this whole proposal was, I think I'll have to refuse it."
Your antennaes drooped in disappointment. You just got rejected.
"But instead..."
She placed her fingers on your chin.
"Let me take you out on a few dates first hm?"
Your mouth open and closed in wordless confusion.
"Date?"
"Yes date, we can go anywhere you'd like, how about that?"
Your eyes gleamed.
"Can we watch The Little Mermaid?"
She threw her head back laughing. Oh, could you be any cuter than you already are? But of course, she nodded and pulled you with her into the elevator. Leaving poor Peter to go back to the ship by himself.
Though he didn't mind, because seeing his sister so happy was worth it.
Maybe you'd have your happy ending after all, not with Prince Eric, but with beautiful badass Ariel instead.
And that's more than enough for you ❤️
Oh, and Thor asked for the ring pop, and you gave it to him. Thor is happy. Good job!

TITOLO: Partenone
DATAZIONE: 447-438 a.C.

My name is Charles Thompson. I am 28 years old and I escaped England as to not have to serve in the war against the French. I decided that I wanted to travel the world and see where life takes me. The following text is an account of my experience in and around Athens Greece.
September 29, 1688
I arrived in Athens as a traveler from Britain. I have always wanted to come to Athens and see the big city and all it had to offer. I don’t know the language and am a little scared about communicating with the Grecians.  At first, I wasn’t sure if I would be welcome here, but I felt welcome enough so I decided my first stop would be to the Parthenon. Unfortunately, last year the Parthenon in Acropolis had been partially destroyed by the Turks.  I was happy to see that the structure was still standing despite the damage. The people seem very friendly, and I could see that they are trying to preserve what’s left of their temple. The Parthenon was built in 447-442 by Ictinus and Callicrates under Pericles (Britannica.com) to honor the goddess Athena in the fifth century BC and was one of the greatest displays of Greek art. This Parthenon was also constructed in celebration of the Hellinic Victory against the Persians in the Greco-Persian Wars. During this time, it was used as a treasury by the Delian League and in the 6th century it was turned into a Christian church. Later the Ottomans invaded in the middle of the 15th century and was turns into a Mosque. Unfortunately, it ultimately became a storage facility for weapons and a bomb was dropped on it by the venetians in 1687, which destroyed a good portion of it.
As I walk around the marble structure, I still see the columns and the general structure of the Parthenon. I imagined all the people that came here to do business, honor Athena, and practice their respective religions. I was so happy that I could still see that some of the columns depicted Athena and her fight with Poseidon. I grew up Catholic and was only taught a few things about mythology so seeing this was fascinating to me. I walked around the Parthenon and met a man that took an interest in trying to explain in broken English what had happened to his beloved temple. He told me how the marble was taken from a quarry about 10 miles away and the men carved out the columns on site. I looked around in awe thinking about all the hard work that went into this.
So far, today has been a great first impression.

Day 1 - Acropolis Hill
Tumblr media
Today is the first day of my five day voyage through ancient Greece.  Upon checking my itinerary, I noticed we will be taking the trek up Acropolis Hill, which overlooks the city of Athens.  I am very much looking forward to the views!  Will update the log when I return.
The walk up Acropolis Hill was gorgeous.  With the warm sun beaming down on me, I started to sweat but I pushed on as I felt drawn to the hill.  Getting closer and closer to the top, I could feel the energy from the temples.  This must be what the Ancient Greeks felt when coming here to pray.  As I approached the top of the hill, I was astonished at the sheer size of the buildings.  My first glimpse of any architecture was at the entrance to the Hill.  The Propylaia is an enormous structure that serves as a gateway to top of the Acropolis.  Acropolis Hill is the site of four temples, all of which were built with dedication to ancient Gods.
I decided to explore the Parthenon first because it’s the largest and the most noteworthy. The Parthenon was designed by architects Ictinus and Callicrates and sculptor Phidias, under the order of Greek politician Pericles (Ratté 2003).  Built during what was considered the Golden Age of Athenian culture, the Parthenon was a tremendously significant part of society (Pausanias).  The primary purpose of its conception was to create a space in which to dedicate to the Goddess Athena and her worship (Ratté 2003).  A massive statue of Athena, sculpted from gold and ivory, towered over me (Pausanias).  It had to be at least 25 feet tall!
My second stop on Acropolis Hill was on the north side.  It’s called the Erechtheion, named after the mythical Athenian God Erechtheus.  The structure was built to accommodate a wooden state of Athena, however it is known as a spiritual location to worship other Gods such as Pandrosos and Kekrops (Ratté 2003).  It was the last and final addition to the group of temples on Acropolis Hill.
The last site for me to see at Acropolis Hill is located at the southwest corner.  The Temple of Athena Nike is the home of many intricately designed friezes depicting battles.  Named after the form of Goddess Athena, Nike, the goddess of victory, this temple was a structure symbolizing just that — victory.  A prominent sculpture housed inside this temple is that of Athena Nike adjusting her sandal (Pausanias).  The significance of this sculpture is in the meaning behind it.  Nike, after triumphing in war, is able to adjust her sandal, illustrating her calm and confident demeanor after facing what I can only assume to be a brutal battle.
After my last site, I began the haul back down the hill to the city for dinner and sleep.  My itinerary says I will be attending the Olympic Games tomorrow.  Sounds like a full day!

Gamora x daughter!reader HCs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings: none! All fluffy like cream!
Tumblr media
It's obvious to everyone that you're Starmora's child
From the green skin identical to Gamora's, down to the strawberry blonde curls passed down from Peter.
Your parents love you more than the galaxy itself
And you love them just as much
But despite all that, everyone can see that you're simply a mommy's girl at heart
You would boast to anyone that your mom is indeed THE amazing Gamora, no one can say otherwise.
Not even you Daddy
"My Mama is coo'est!" (coolest)
"No....Daddy is cooler"
"No! Daddy coo' but mama coo'er!"
Peter is devastated, but being the lovestruck malewife he is, he agrees with your statement and is a fellow Gamora fanclub member.
Joins in your secret little fangirling babble sessions when his wife isn't around
Gamora over heard you two once when she returned with some groceries and couldn't stop the huge grin taking over her face
Ever since you learned how to walk, you've been following your mother everywhere, acting like a little tail.
And yes, EVERYWHERE.
"Mama! Open p'ease!"
"Sweetheart, I'm pooping-"
Still wouldn't budge from your spot in front of the bathroom door
Nebula had to distract you for a while
People would say that your personality is similar to your dad's
But when it comes to tour temper?
Copy and pasted from your mother.
The angry growl? Done.
The iconic Gamora glare? UNCANNY.
Protective nature? Probably even more than your mother
There's no hiding the fact that Gamora loves your fierce side
But then it also comes with a downside
You would often get into fights with people at a very young age
Whether it be adults or children, one wrong word about your family would result in Drax holding you back with the other party laying on the ground with scratches all over their face.
And probably missing parts of their hair.
Rocket would send you a proud wink every time
But both your parents would be worried sick every time they heard you got into a fight YET AGAIN
Your mother would scold you (softly) as she tends to your wounds
"Y/n/n, this is the fifth time this month, you can't keep getting into fights baby."
"But the boy said mama bad...." You'd sulk with your arms crossed
And she'd gently pull you onto her lap and softly thank you for defending her
Gamora was thankful that you were so protective of her just as she is to you
But she's going to have to start teaching you how to control your anger
And that's how you started training with her
Years pass and you've grown into a teenager (Still sticking to mama whenever possible, even if it's not as much as you used to)
At this point you've mastered everything your mother had taught you.
Joining them on missions and fighting alongside your family, whooping happily as you shoot down various monsters.
Gamora would come to a realization that you're actually growing up, and way too quickly in her opinion.
She knew that her baby bird would leave the nest sooner or later, but the thought of it overwhelms her
Maybe she'll slowly accept it as time goes on
But for now, she'll let herself relish in the moments she still gets to spend with you, her beautiful little girl
"Don't grow up too fast my little warrior"

Temple of Nemesis
Rhamnous, Attica, Greek
5th century BCE
Peripteral Doric
The sanctuary of Nemesis lies on the road between Rhamnous and Marathon, around 630m south of the later city. Two temples to Nemesis and Themis can be seen at the site situated very close together.
Nemesis, also called Rhamnousia or Rhamnusia ("the goddess of Rhamnous”, her most important in ancient Greece), is the goddess who enacts retribution against those who succumb to hubris (arrogance before the gods)
Construction of the temple to Nemesis began around 460-450 BCE and continued until 430–420. It was built as a Doric peripteral temple during the reign of Pericles when the Parthenon was built in Athens, and on a platform with a massive polygonal terrace wall. It is believed that it was designed by the architect Callicrates who designed the Temple of Hephaestus in Athens, the Poseidon Temple at Cape Sounion and the Ares temple in Acharnes.
The euthynteria and lowest level of the crepidoma were made from local dark marble, while the rest was constructed of white marble.
The Peloponnesian War must have interrupted the completion from 431 BCE and carving of the column flutes was not done and the stylobate blocks were left unfinished, retaining the protective excess marble on their easily damaged corners and upper surfaces. There were no pedimental sculptures, nor were the metopes decorated with sculpture. The roof was decorated with sculptural acroteria, however.
Unfinished fluting and carving on the 5th century BCE temple.
At some point after the original construction, the Temple of Nemesis was severely damaged at its eastern end and the upper courses were subsequently repaired with new blocks. The damage to this and other temples in the region and the destruction of monuments in Athens is thought to be caused by the armies of Philip V of Macedon during his raids in 200 BCE. The blocks which were used to repair the Temple of Nemesis are distinct from the original blocks and the tooling is quite different which suggests that the repairs were made in the Roman period, when interest in the old Classical temples was renewed. The central block of the architrave on the east end of the temple bears an inscription of rededication to the goddess Livia by the Demos, which may be associated with the repairs. This reconstruction must have been costly since it involved replacing the east end, which required making duplicate blocks for the frieze, geison, perhaps the tympanon, the raking geison, the akroteria, and perhaps part of the sima, rooftiles, and ceiling coffers. Unlike other temples in Attica which had fallen into disrepair, the Temple of Nemesis was not stripped of useful parts or removed whole to Athens. Instead, it was restored with pride as an important local monument.

Statue of Nemesis
The cella of the large temple housed the cult figure of Nemesis, sculpted by Agorakritos, a pupil of Phidias, from the block of Parian marble alleged to have been brought by the overconfident Persians for their triumphal stele. This famous statue of the goddess stood within the cella of the temple and was around 4m high. The Roman historian and connoisseur Varro rated it the finest example of Greek sculpture.
The badly damaged remains of an over life-size marble head from a cult statue of Nemesis, with perforations for attaching a gold crown, was discovered by the British architect John Gandy in the early nineteenth century and is now part of the British Museum's collection. This has a stylistic similarity to the pediment sculptures of the Parthenon of 440-432 BCE.
Many parts of the original statue have been recovered and reconstructed from the hundreds of fragments found scattered about after the destruction of the cult image by early Christians, and this allowed the identification of a total of eleven Roman copies on a smaller scale. The base of the statue, approximately 90 cm high and 240 cm wide, has also been reconstructed; on three sides of the base, the nearly-in-the-round scene shows the presentation of Helen to her mother Nemesis by Leda.

Acropolis of Athens [Ακρόπολη Αθηνών]
The Acropolis is the most prominent landmark of the Athenian cityscape, a citadel on a steep hill, on top of which lays the Parthenon, the magnificent classical temple of Athena, dedicated to the patron goddess of the ancient city. Countless libraries have been written for this unique monument of art and culture. Now-a-days, Acropolis is one of the most important monuments of Athens, a designated archaeological site, inscripted in UNESCO's World Heritage list and strictly protected by the Greek legislation.
During the last year a huge debate has swelled due to the controversial works carried out on the surroundings of the temple, where new 'paths' have been constructed, allegedly to facilitate access for persons with disabilities. However, these interventions were carried out amidst the prolonged lock-down measures, seemingly with minimal, if not absent public or expert consultation, through obscure and non-transparent procedures.
The case is that Acropolis and the surroundings of the temple of Parthenon have been significantly altered, covered more extensively than before with dubious materials (concrete), in stark contrast to the dazzling marbles of the antiquities and the ancient rock of the physical surface of the citadel. This revamping presents itself as quite disturbing, especially after passing the "Propylaea", paving inconsistently the route to the spectacular creation of Iktinos [Ικτίνος] and Callicrates [Καλλικράτης] with an unrelated highway...
This disputation goes far beyond expert opinion, and public policy that is governed and enforced solely by the Greek state. The Parthenon and the Acropolis constitute a part of our collective history, spanning through millennia, it is a common heritage belonging to humankind, and not to the appointed or elected public administrators. This dispute could be set side by side to the demolition of the frankish tower of Acropolis in 1874, yielding to Schliemann’s arguments. Regrettably, this intervention literally scrapped the medieval history of the citadel, moulding the monument to expert but ephemeral views and interpretations of Classical Greece.
Notwithstanding, the view to the Acropolis from the foot of its hill in central Athens remains breathtaking, bringing me decades back, unearthing my child memories from times gone by, deep feelings of intimacy and my strong ties to my past...
